From the woman who complains that "the left wing media" never prints her version of revealed truth. The irony is thick indeed.

That's pretty deep there, Ducky.

Do all of you leftists derive truth from a cartoon, or just you?

Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols"

5 The psychological explanation of this. To derive something unknown from something familiar relieves, comforts, and satisfies, besides giving a feeling of power. With the unknown, one is confronted with danger, discomfort, and care; the first instinct is to abolish these painful states. First principle: any explanation is better than none. Since at bottom it is merely a matter of wishing to be rid of oppressive representations, one is not too particular about the means of getting rid of them: the first representation that explains the unknown as familiar feels so good that one "considers it true." The proof of pleasure ("of strength") as a criterion of truth.

The causal instinct is thus conditional upon, and excited by, the feeling of fear. The "why?" shall, if at all possible, not give the cause for its own sake so much as for a particular kind of cause--a cause that is comforting, liberating, and relieving. That it is something already familiar, experienced, and inscribed in the memory, which is posited as a cause, that is the first consequence of this need. That which is new and strange and has not been experienced before, is excluded as a cause. Thus one searches not only for some kind of explanation to serve as a cause, but for a particularly selected and preferred kind of explanation--that which has most quickly and most frequently abolished the feeling of the strange, new, and hitherto unexperienced: the most habitual explanations. Consequence: one kind of positing of causes predominates more and more, is concentrated into a system and finally emerges as dominant, that is, as simply precluding other causes and explanations. The banker immediately thinks of "business," the Christian of "sin," and the girl of her love.

Whenever I read Ducky’s comments, I suspect there could be no more conclusive proof that Sesame Street has poisoned the minds of our children for the next several generations.

Come on Beamish, you know most of them get their news from Jon Stewart.

Cartoons are usually a little too complex for the average liberal. All of those words to read.

It ain't irony that is thick it's Duck poop!

OMG!

Ducky ... big bird.

Big bird ... ducky.

It fits!

Anonymous said...

Funny how this blog always seems to focus on the duck no matter what the topic is. As soon as the duck start to quack it's all about ducky.

Why desert the topic?

The cartoon was a little too obvious to be really funny. We all should know by now that when things go wrong it's all Karl Marx and Woodrow Wilson's fault, right?

Z, pretty funny. It got a chuckle out of me.

Also amusing is Obama referring to the throng of violent protesters in Egypt as needing recognition, and consideration of their demands.

Here in the US, however, the peaceful, non violent Tea Party movement is to be demonized as troubling and spewing "hate speech". Having no recognition by the WH re our demands.

The President then goes into the importance of free speech, heralding democracy, while here at home making moves to have the ability to track people on the internet, and to reserve the right to shut it down in the name of security.

For Egypt however, our administration criticizes that same act which has taken place.

So, it's the same old thing with the anti-American left who have no trouble espousing a double standard and making sure it's their own country which stands to lose the same rights the Egyptians are fighting for.

From where I sit, Obama and Mubarak, aren't that different.

Embodying the left in a cartoon is appropriate. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so true.

Please. Like mr. ducky, the Left has no time for introspection, they only have time to find fault in others...

Critical theory may be their mantra... but they never wield it against their own ideas.

FrogBurger said...

That's very funny.

And again LSD has no sense of humor.

Um, Ducky, this wasn't printed by "left wing media" but VERY good try. Oh, and, you know, you have a point...ONE cartoon in the media revealing the unthinkingness of the left IS a start..good point.

Check out the LA Times Cartoon section some time....Cucaracha is the name of the cartoon, I believe....every single day it's nothing but slams to the Right. But, it's just snuggled among the funny cartoons as if it's normal. Unbelievable. SO, give me ONE, huh? ONE?

Speedy G..perfect comment there, thanks...very appropriate.

SilvrLady, thanks! xx

Sam, that is FUNNY. How scary, considering how many millions of kids watch that stuff. I just have to mention something here: A friend told me someone she's related to (I can't give details here so it stays anonymous) works very closely with Maya Angelou, the WONDERFUL, LOVELY, INCREDIBLY CARING, POETESS who the left ADORES for her ...something, I'm not sure what!?
Well, Maya apparently acts like THE QUEEN, with sweeping gestures of dismissal when she's DONE talking to you, and a terribly abrupt, insulting way if she doesn't recognize who you are or realize you are SOMEBODY..LITERALLY waving you off with a hand... This stunned me because I've never been a fan and sort of sensed this about her but thought "all my lib friends adore her, I have to be wrong". It's apparently very true......she's hoity-toity, Emperor's New Clothes (her writing, anyway, and her celebrity) and I could tell more but...can't.
You just can't BELIEVE how officious and conceited she is in real life, I was absolutely FLOORED at what I heard.
But the left waxes eloquent about her..........
She sells what she sells and they eat it up. Sesame Street sells what it sells and we can't fix it; GREEN, ILLEGALS, ENTITLEMENTS, etc...it apparently SELLS to the lefties....
I wish they'd WAKE UP.
Not sure how my Angelou analogy fits, but it fits in my head...I hope it worked for you, too :-)

Mustang, WONDERFUL!

Pris, If is funny, isn't it...so so true, which, of course, is the humor, so to speak!
Ya, Obama's sending message to Egypt I'm not quite understanding and I can only shudder at what he said for 30 min to Mubarak the other night.
I just feel so fearful for Israel.

Z said...

FB, glad you liked it, too.

Speedy...negativity and critical spirits are something that grow in peoples' hearts who have nothing else to do or who just need to hate and lash out; I'll never understand it. No, the criticism can never be turned inward or they'd have awakenings which are too painful, but MIGHT teach them something.
Around here, we try to keep it positive and there's always ONE or two who have a real need to be very ugly. AH, well.
Introspection for that type of person could help...I'll open your link now, thanks.

Z said...

OH, my, Speedy, I didn't expect that...
It relates to Ducky and his ilk on so many levels it's stunning.
Black Abortionist...a man who'd kill mostly Black babies and who's probably a big LIBERAL hiding behind "a woman's choice"..meanwhile, how many Black children could have lived? The PRO CHOICERS also go positively DEAF when a Conservative brings up Margaret Sanger and her AVOWED WISH to kill black children in the womb!! WOW

It appears that this man's been perforating the insides of women and not caring for 10 YEARS and nobody's done anything...they couldn't risk the flap that would come if they SAVED those poor young women! Better to sacrifice them to the altar of abortion than blow the whistle and expose abortionists like this Gosnell...how AWFUL.
THanks for posting that, everyone should read that link you called INTROSPECTION.

Wow Pris! That was spot on. That is irony at its best (or is it, its worst?).

Would you mind if I reprinted this? I wanted to share this on Facebook with friends.

Speedy G said...

The full grand jury report says it all.

Yet you'll never hear about this again. The MSM has already buried this story.

Z said...

Speedy, is this appropriate in a Grand Jury comment on an abortion doctor case? "Let us say right up front that we realize this case will be used by those on both
sides of the abortion debate. We ourselves cover a spectrum of personal beliefs about the
morality of abortion. For us as a criminal grand jury, however, the case is not about that
controversy; it is about disregard of the law and disdain for the lives and health of
mothers and infants. We find common ground in exposing what happened here, and in
recommending measures to prevent anything like this from ever happening again."

WOW...seems HIGHLY inappropriate to me.

Also, I looked and can't see ..what happened? GUilty? NOT GUILTY?

Speedy G said...

The report was only just released two weeks ago... but I have no doubt that everyone and ESPECIALLY the government regulators will ALL be completely exhonorated.

from the report -

"The authorities responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or licensing Gosnell or his operation should conduct serious self-assessments to determine why their departments failed to protect the women and babies whose lives were imperiled at Gosnell’s clinic. Employees who failed to perform their jobs of protecting the public should be held accountable.

What a joke. "Progresssives" conduct serious self-assessments? The "myth" of the "Administrators of the commons" strikes again!

"Indeed, the process has been so widely commented upon that one writer postulated a common life cycle for all of the attempts to develop regulatory policies. The life cycle is launched by an outcry so widespread and demanding that it generates enough political force to bring about establishment of a regulatory agency to insure the equitable, just, and rational distribution of the advantages among all holders of interest in the commons. This phase is followed by the symbolic reassurance of the offended as the agency goes into operation, developing a period of political quiescence among the great majority of those who hold a general but unorganized interest in the commons. Once this political quiescence has developed, the highly organized and specifically interested groups who wish to make incursions into the commons bring sufficient pressure to bear through other political processes to convert the agency to the protection and furthering of their interests. In the last phase even staffing of the regulating agency is accomplished by drawing the agency administrators from the ranks of the regulated."

Speedy G said...

Nobody regulates or enforces abortion regulations. Nobody.

Speedy G said...

1/20/11 - Abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell of Pennsylvania was charged with 8 counts of murder yesterday related to the botched abortion death of a woman and his infanticides of seven babies purposefully born and killed with scissors. But the grand jury report accompanying the charges shows state officials did nothing when reports came in about problems at Gosnell’s abortion center.

Nobody cares about dead babies. Even Obama supported legal infanticide in Illinois.

Speedy G said...

My guess is that he'll be back in business within six months and the record of past practices will be sealed by Court order.

Z said...

wow, Speedy, yet my girlfriend who volunteers at a family planning place can't overtly counsel against abortion or, TRUST ME, she will be GONE, THAT is enforced, BELIEVE me.

Speedy G said...

I believe you...

Every law that the "progressives" dislike suffers from the "Don't ask, don't tell" syndrome we all know as "political correctness".

Z said...

true,....and this was America.

Now we're a people with an undue respect for the principle of "going along to get along" (aka - political correctness).

Evidence - how else could Obamacare have passed?

The full text of the decision from Federal Judge Roger Vinson is not available yet, but according to reporters who've seen the decision, he's ruled the entire Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. The ruling favors of the 26 state attorney generals challenging the law. The judge ruled the individual mandate that requires all Americans to purchase health insurance invalid and, according to the decision, "because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void."

I love watching Spitzer's technique...very much Alan COlmes' style...lets his 'opponent' speak and then blusters over saying he's wrong and changes the subject so the guy's left hanging there! This happened once in this interview, too, and always makes me laugh at the their conceit. Makes for tough watching for me but I enjoyed the way your Prof stood up for himself and reminded Spitzer it was S Democrats who opposed Civil Rights, too, by the way.
Great guy, this Prof...may he be given more of a platform

Well, Ducky monopolizes the left-wing perspective.

He used to have one of his fellow leftists running with him. At one time, there was this blithering idiot neo-Nazi Ron Paul supporter that used to call himself "FreeThinke" that would come around to post links to white supremacist websites and try to tell Z how to run her blog, but I think he's moved on to drag queen exhibitionism and calling himself "Angie."

I like the idea to amend the Constitution to give states "veto" power over federal law, but wouldn't it just be easier to repeal the 17th Amendment, and return to having state legislatures appoint their US Senators (as was intended by the Framers of the Constitution in the first place)?

Speedy G said...

And by God if I had it my way....I'd trade him to the Egyptians and elevate dumb Joe Biden to his job whom we can at least laugh at.

I have to chuckle at Eliot Spitzer in that clip trying to conflate the concept of federalism with the Articles of Confederation. You can't get that stupid by eating paint chips alone.

Governors with control over state militias? Wouldn't that guarantee each state a Republican form of government? ;)

Nah, just lob some bunker busters into the Aswan Dam and give Cairo a bath.

But get my sister outta there first...
