Obama is REAGANESQUE?

You probably saw this story on FOX tonight:  Katie Couric, Christiane Amanpour and Andrea Mitchell (and I think a few others but I can't think of them right now) all mentioned how REAGONESQUE Obama appeared during his SOTU speech.  And, of course, they meant that as a compliment.....this time.    These are people who hated ANYTHING REAGAN and now OBAMA is REAGANESQUE and they LIKE it?

Here's MY take on the FOX story:  You know how I'm frequently saying I think the White House sends out media memos..."say this, say that..?"    Ya, this has to be what that was..........connect the minds of Americans with THE REPUBLICAN MOST AMERICANS LOVE in the fight to keep a leftwing Democrat president popular.....let them think he loves the country like Reagan, let them think he puts America first like Reagan, let them think he's a Republican like Reagan..........gad, who'd have thought?

Could I be wrong?   Not on this one.   "Oh, how REAGANESQUE!"   ya, RIGHT. But pretty darned clever.

Both Newsweek and Time have articles comparing Obama to Reagan. WTH?

One of the essays in Newsweek states that Obama is a nicer guy than Reagan because Obama doesn't demonize his opponents. Huh?

These are people who hated ANYTHING REAGAN and now OBAMA is REAGANESQUE and they LIKE it?

It's all part of the propaganda war.

It is no less than contempt for the average American's intellect. Sadly, I expect their assumptions are correct: a large number of Øbama acolytes will make that leap in logic.

I think you're right about the Memo, Z ... and the new leftist media sees nothing wrong with being in bed with the White House.

Bull!

Obama would need to write and memorize his own speeches and consult a more accurate astrologer.

Maybe not Mustang. We're a couple of old war horses here. We were there when Reagan was in office. But, I'd venture to say that most that are under thirty don't have a working knowledge of what Reagan did or what he was....

In a pig's eye! I had the great privilege of voting for Ronald Reagan 4 times. I can say I will NEVER, nor have I voted for this misbegotten occupant of the W.H. once.

With the unrest in Egypt it's about time for him to take another 'vacation'. Gad, but I miss James Baker & Henry Kissinger about now. And just look what we are stuck with!

The Media's comparison of obama and Reagan tells me that there's still tons of sheeple out there who rely on the media as "the word."

Spare me. And, right now, do not be fooled into believing that the uprisings in Egypt or elsewhere are a sign of changing times against "evil Islamic dictators." That's what they want you to believe. Think out of the box.

Yeah Froggy, I feel the same way about The New York Review of Books.

YEah Ducky? Well I don't give a damn, LSD.

LSD, we're talking about journalism, politics, hence Reason, not books.

Are you that dumb to not make the connection?

You're right. Reading the French press and people are concerned this could turn into that, even though it looks like an aspiration to have more freedom. I guess only time will tell.

The Left's ENTIRE agenda consists of demonizing their opponents...

Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders are about to paint anyone who mentions "social Security" cuts as a "witch"....

so much for the "new" civility.

I say: Point well taken.

Reagan postponed his SOTU Address in 1986 to give this speech (my post for today).

Watch that speech. Clearly, Obama could never hold a candle to that kind of eloquence.

UHOH! Nobody here thought I WAS equating Obama with Reagan, right??!!

AOW and Mustang; I truly do think this is all the White House and the media in cahoots...

Mustang, you're SO right; this media is Machiavellian....ANYTHING to get their leftist agenda accepted.
They've known most thinking, patriotic Americans loved Reagan and that's the new push: SAY Obama is like Reagan.

Scotty; Even young people who don't remember Reagan don't know what he did (except they've heard their profs diss him, of course) but they know Americans found him smart and patriotic and effective, you know? He's kind of survived as an icon.

Funny, I just thought about the awful most recent accusations against Reagan by his idiot kid Ronnie....is the press saying Obama's forgetting? (Smile)

SilvrLady....
WE DON'T NEED OBAMA WITH THE EGYPT PROBLEM, DIDN'T YOU HEAR?
HILLARY JUST WARNED EGYPT TO OPEN THEIR SOCIAL NETWORKS BACK UP (FACEBOOK, TWEETING, Etc.)....BOY, I'LL BET THEY REEEEEEALLY SIT UP AND LISTEN AND OBEY HILLARY, RIGHT? (God, I'm so embarrassed of her and the rest of this gov't)
If ONLY they'd stood by the demonstrators in Iran a couple of years ago....Egyptians see now we're doing NOTHING...

Steve, welcome back, and good point. I'm pretty sure this in Egypt now is NOT about overturning islamists! (I hope so, but...naa)

Speedy...the left can do it and the media sucks up...let the Right , and the media accuses us of inciting killers.

And no, AOW....Obama could never be another Reagan in ANY way. First of all, he was raised hating anything Reagan, let's face it..he's a leftwinger who blames Republicans for everything and Reagan IS Republicans..then he somehow $$$ goes to Harvard and raise your hand if ANY of you thinks Reagan was lionized THERE :-)
Na, it must be KILLING (oops, can I say that?!) Obama to even consider his White House ex-TV news producers he hired that first week in office had to pull this trick out of their vast array of media brilliance. #@$()*&@#($&@#($*&

I am surprised since the left hates Reagan as they do that they would want to equate Odumber with Reagan. Of course then there is the idea from the left that one can take a sows ear and make it into or appear to be a silk purse and the people will buy it.

I just heard on the radio that the Islamists have joined in the disturbances. Bad news for the West.

BY the way, I've been thinking (ALERT THE MEDIA ;-)

It's very clear Obama can't cut entitlements for the next two years because he'd never win the election if he does...his base is ENTITLEMENT TAKERS AND GUILTY RICH LIBS, right? Both of whom will FLIP if anything's cut.

This isn't a dilemma only HE shares as president.......how do we get American presidents to stop putting their careers first, especially now when our country's teetering on the brink of destruction and any thinking person knows we must slash entitlements and help in other ways, personally, as communities, neighbors, etc...?

Z said...

SilvrLady...it could be very bad news.

the president really needs to be careful and walk a tightrope of excellent diplomacy....OH, GAD, I just remembered it's OBAMA (HELP!) :)

Well, Hillary's on it...demanding Egyptians get Facebook back......IS SHE KIDDING? We got good information when Iran was clamping down on the dissidents from cell phones, etc., BUT we did NOTHING....so who's to say Hillary's advice is going to help anything???

Z, oh no you're not wrong. How sad that the media darlings must await breathlessly for the day's talking points from the WH.

So now, Obama isn't Obama, but Reagan incarnate? It's really laughable when you think about it.

You couldn't find two people more different, and Obama thinks people will buy this garbage?

Here's Reaganesque: "Government isn't the solution, government is the problem".

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Mr. Obama. Oh, and try not to choke on it!

Froggy, have you ever picked up a copy of the New York Review of Books?

It is a good deal more than reviews (although they are excellent).

Certainly more comprehensive than Reason, which is a little tunnel visioned.

Oh well, lets all go back to Reagan worship and maybe even figure out what he accomplished for all the cheer leading. He was like one of those teachers who gets real concerned about pumping up self esteem but in this case the right hasn't figured out how hollow he was, they know how hollow Obama is but can't seem to move on to the wider picture.

As disgusted I am with the media in general, this is indeed an all time low for these elitist morons. To have the audacity to insult the memory of one of the greatest Americans is bad enough. To compare this Marxist/Socialist/Anti-American ideals President with a man who loved his country, it's ideals and it's people with all his heart is a crime. Words like blasphemy come to mind, but I'm not exactly sure what word truly describes what I'm feeling at this moment.

As, in my view this man is overtly doing his best to dismantle everything President Reagan stood for and deliver our country to his Marxist handlers, I am indeed baffled as to how anyone could make a more asinine comparison than this. Very sad!

If Obama has magically transformed into the reincarnation of Ronald Reagan, I think you have to look for solid evidence instead of just listening to his empty rhetoric and the overdone lauding of their idol by the MSM. I'm betting that under his rhetoric still lurks the same compulsion to control and manipulate others. Even scraping the slimy crust off his empty rhetoric you can see nothing has changed. It's still ingrained into his empty skull that the main function of the government is to dole out favors to some and penalize others.

And, Ducky, you'd be a better man if you had worshiped Reagan instead of Lenin. You'd likely have benefited by worshiping at his feet AND washing them.

"Mr. Obama said, “We do big things.” The country has, but there was no sign of it on Tuesday night, and the spirit of declinism was heavy, in the flaccid speaking, the sophomoric enthusiasms of the legislators, the very scattered applause, the partial boycott of the Supreme Court, and the distracting giggling of Joe Biden. These occasions were once celebrations, sometimes unjustifiably and tastelessly so. They have become an agony."

Nobody tops Conrad Black as a master of the English language, IMO. Here's his take on the STOU and President Obama ...

So LSD, your point is invalid.

Already Obama is triangulating for the election cycle. Since so many Americans have realized how far left he is, he must now paint himself as a centrist and attach himself to Reagan's coattails.

What idiots the Obama administration depend on for votes.
