I really like how he explains things. He has a gift of being able to criticize these programs without coming off hateful or mean.
He seems just the opposite, and he seems sincere.
He illustrates one of Thomas Sowell's principles, beautifully:
"Compared to what?"
Put things in context, and the liberal demagoguery crumbles.
Yes, the corporatist engine can deliver consumer goods, no surprise.
Also no surprise that you don't factor in health care, education, housing, food and employment into the equation of what makes a good quality of life.
So Bill Whittle, rather than being someone who can discuss complexities is just another shallow cheap shill.
You folks seem to have a soft spot for tht type.
... put things in context and you see the depth of Libertarian thought. Now where are we, Silverfiddle?
Ducky: You are just another shallow cheap shill.
You leftist folks seem to have a soft head.
Otherwise, you gave us a well though out rebuttal and presentation.
Your comments cosistantly demonstrate the level of your intellect and thought.

Exactly. Heritage compares Americans living below the poverty line with the poor in sub-Saharan Africa or the richest Americans 100 years ago. They're right. No one in 1911 had a microwave, xBox or internet service. Of course, modern conveniences aren't the only measurement of poverty. (See Ducky's comment)
The poverty line for a family of 4 is $22,350. So if you're making double that, $44,700, STFU. you are living like a king. These are the same people who will tell you that if you are in the top 2% of income earners, $250,000 (10x the poverty level) you're not really rich. If you make $250,000,000 a year and pay 17% income tax, paying any more would be punishment.

Yes, he foments resentment and loathing of the poor with a smile. Cut off the "freeloaders" and "wellfare queens". When they're all living under a crumbling bridge, maybe we'll throw 'em a bone.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. -Matthew 25:40
How dare those ingrates watch a DVD or chill they're parishables.
Amazing....faced with facts, people still just don't get it; AND the true joke is just what WHittle suggested happened in comments here today; "now they'll say I'm against the poor having air conditioning"
You can't make this stuff up.
He's making an excellent point that more should be aware of because we're making horrible mistakes from misinformation.
But, the left must turn this around and expect a 15 hour lecture covering EVERY single point in the economy as if that should negate Whittle's piece. It never fails :-)
I wonder that Thessalonians doesn't get brought up by lefties...
Whittle, nor any other Conservative, has ever said the poor shouldn't be helped. I"m sorry his piece is lost on some.
Z because Lefties only use scripture that supports their agenda. Just like facts, twist and turn to make it suit what they say. Then of course they also never let a few things like facts stand in their way. Duckass, Braindead and Craig are perfect examples.
In posted this video on Facebook the first time I saw it. I've been poor, too. In fact, I am barely over Poverty level now. Perhaps under it. I don't know anymore.
One can be poor and retain their dignity and integrity. I do it every day. Do I stay poor? Yes, but I have my integrity and that's worth gold, in my opinion. I will never, never take welfare. I'd die first.
Excellent video.
Of course, you can tell how right it is by the level of Ducky's freak-out. ;)
Well let's assume that Whittle does present a real quality of life heaven, debatable but let it go.
Was the social democracy at all responsible for the situation or is it strictly the result of The Full Ayn Rand.
Certainly part of both but we'll never get to an understanding with the partisan right and toons like Whittle who just spout a few descriptive variables and assumes he's proven something. Just what, well ... why can't we just say social democracy works and you want to undo it?
Not entirely true but it makes as much sense as where the right wants to go with this.
You missed it, Ducky....
big surprise.
Z..thanks for posting the video, even though real facts upset a lot of people.
There's 'poor' and then there's 'abject poverty' and I am in neither of those places, now, but I know what it feels like.
My family never accepted charity of any kind even when it was needed most, because of a sense of pride. Nowadays, it seems that there is such a sense of entitlement, that nothing is ever enough.
I met a young woman, once, who was a licensed beautician, and strong and healthy enough to work, in a then striving economy, but she didn't, and had no desire to.
She was a single mother, with two or three small children, and she said that with the housing, health care, and food stamps that she received, that there was no way she was going to work, because it actually came to more than she would make as a beautician.
She said that without having to pay for child care by not working, that she came out way ahead of the game.
As for all of the, what would be considered luxury items, mentioned in the video, I think it comes down to priorities in many cases.
I know during the years that I was not financially able to have such things, that it did become a choice.
I could have something not considered a necessity, or keep up with my financial obligations.
Now, there are too many who think that they should have them, no matter who has to pay, and now they are getting cell phones, and minutes, paid for by the taxpayer.
I am not against people receiving help of any kind, as long as they truly are in need of it, and have no way of obtaining it through their own efforts, and hard work, and I know that the argument will be that there are no jobs, so they can't work.
Well, my answer to that is that it has not always been so, and it was no different then.
There are cases of generational welfare with grandparents, parents, and children on the welfare rolls, with no kind of ambition to move beyond that.
Z, you said:
I wonder that Thessalonians doesn't get brought up by lefties...
Well, since you bring it up, I am reminded of something that is said in 2 Thessalonians 3;10, which is:
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
It's true that Jesus said that when you have done something to help the least of the ones needing help, that you had done it unto Him.
I think that what He said should not be taken out of context, as it so often is when trying to prove one's own point of view.
In my earlier comment I wrote 'striving economy' rather than 'thriving economy.'
I suppose I may have been thinking of what it is now..and it isn't only the economy which is striving, unfortunately.
"the poor are not filled with gratitude for WHAT THEY GET...they're jealous of the fatcats who pay for what they get" loosely quoted.
If anybody listened till the end, there's so much to learn there; so much in Whittle's message that is so vitally important to remember.
He's right; when we get things for free, we don't feel good about ourselves.
And no, I do NOT mean that nobody who is needy should be helped at all. WHY do I feel I need to explain that? What a pathetic situation our left has put us in....
Hi, Jan, that's exactly the Thessalonians scripture I was alluding to, thanks.
I just got an email from a friend, a verified story by Dr. Sebastian J. Ciancio, M.D.
Urologist, Danville Polyclinic, LTD. which he sent to Limbaugh:
"I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20's came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated "my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family." He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family. The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Children and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care. The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois. Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly "Link" card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner" in the family.
I hope you share this story with your listeners so that they know how the ruling class spends their tax dollars."
Nice, eh? This is what the left's created..how disgusting.
Yeah, hearsay from Rush, that proves the point.
Now I get it, z.
The Calvinists believe the poor should be even poorer. They are not chosen by grace. Is that it?
Nice, eh? This is what the left's created..how disgusting.
Exactly, Z, and many of them are using it to their own advantage.
A relative of mine was engaged to a young, single mother.
Her parents were wealthy, but she was not employed, and had just been released from rehab for a drug problem.
Her father bought a beautiful home which he made available to HUD for rental to low income persons.
You guessed it...she ended up living in the home, and HUD paid her dad the monthly rent.
There is no way that in that particular town that the agency didn't know the family involved, either.
I'm sure there are many stories, just like the ones we've related, out there.
I'd like for Ducky, Craig, or any of the other left-wing imbeciles reading to explain why Obama claims he only wants to tax the private jet owners and such, but then proposes tax increases on everyone making $200,000 or more.
How many people making $200,000 a year own a private jet?
listening now Z..thank u for finding this hun!
Ducky, as I said, it's verified; google it, I did the work.
But, ya, if the guy sent it into Rush, then it's a lie, right?
NO WONDER the leftwingers don't get real information.
And yes, Calvinists want all the poor to die; I don't know a Calvinist, but I'm absolutely sure that's true :-) You're really something, Ducky. OH, did this video bother you. MY GOODNESS :-)
Jan, what a horrid story.
One can't help but wonder why the Left can't take my story and yours in; no response at all. It's just too damaging to their world view.
Beamish, I"m not too happy with Obama because I'm missing a really happy engagement I had to cancel this afternoon because THE ONE is landing at LAX and there are street closures; has to come in at rush hour, of course. To The House of Blues; isn't he just SO COOL? Then off to dinner at a swanky place where couples are paying $3500 to have dinner with him. Well, it beats the $35,000 up in Northern California.
Did you hear the dope from up there today asked him "Mr. President, can I pay higher taxes?" OH, the sound bites! How many times will CNN and the networks and MSNBC play THAT? !! I wonder who planned that one :-)
"$17,900 per person fundraiser..:"
Sorry, that's a correction for tonight's fundraising amount.
You can argue about entitlements and welfare if you want, but the poor are definitely NOT getting richer. Anyone who claims that is spreading propaganda.
First off, where is the point of reference? These numbers don't mean anything without something to compare it to.
Secondly, look at the distribution of wealth! There is a HUGE gap between the top 10% and the bottom 90% (not to mention the bottom 50%).
um, Bd...the whole video's about point of references; dates and figures. Watch it.
We don't need wealth distributed, we need to EARN IT. please read the comments, too.
thanks.
Hey Bd, I'm all for points of reference.
"Poor" to me shouldn't mean central heat and AC, 2-car garage, high speed internet, a cell phone, 3 TVs and a fridge full of beer.
Jan,
Once you read all the "thou shalt not covet" and "thou shalt not steal" and "a strong man armed keepeth his goods in peace" rhetoric you figure out that the Bible is really rather harsh on socialists.
"These numbers don't mean anything without something to compare it to."
Ok...compare it to: Ethopia, Eretia, SA, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe or any other slum country where having a dog means being fed for a day or two...and having two dogs makes an African a rancher.
No four legged, hungry animal is chasing them down the streets for their meal either. But there are the two legged kind with IPhones and Blackberry's.
Beamish,
Precisely. :)
"How many people making $200,000 a year own a private jet?"
I never made that flying one for over 10 years! Nor do I know of any pilot making that with a Private or Corporate Jet owner.
Ducky and Craig, you're assuming we here are all well fixed financially. For Mr. Pris and I we think we did pretty well considering the fact we didn't have any govt. help, and didn't want it either.
Starting out together at eighteen, was hard financially, but we believed if we kept our noses to the grindstone, we'd make it. Oh, and btw, we had to pay federal income taxes like everyone else.
When I was a kid, I never had a bike. New shoes were a big deal, and I had five changes of school clothes for five days a week, and started over the following week.
I have more examples but you get the picture. Mr. Pris worked from the age of thirteen. He learned early on, you earn what you get, and it's up to us.
Now I ask you, if one knows he'll get help if he doesn't apply himself, and hold himself responsible for his situation, who's fault is that, ours? No way!
It's the fault of people like you who think those on the lower rungs of the economic ladder, are inferior to you, and can't keep up.
Well, I think most of them can, if they're not pandered to by liberals who feel good when they lord it over those they don't think can measure up. So, who are the snobs and racists here? YOU!
Save your lectures for someone else. You, who can't see the forest for the trees. You rob people of their self respect, dignity and pride when you throw a few crumbs their way, and yet you think you're superior.
Well, you're not. You are not the answer, you're the problem.
I remember in the Raygun days that everyone was concerned about the "welfare Cadillacs". Ol' Dutch told a few folksy stories about the girls driving down in those Cadillacs to pick up their checks and we were off. It was all nonsense but it got the far right enraged.
Then cam welfare reform and they were forgotten. The earned income and child care tax credits made it possible for single mothers to take a minimum wage job and pay the bills (if you check out AOW's site, she's all up in arms about that today).
But now those welfare moms have a refrigerator and a TV and they're back. Targets again.
Makes you wonder who's really poor.
" a TV and they're back. Targets again."
You mean they're on their backs again. Easy solution...spreed em to never work again.
Yea...they're targets all right....for the illiterate, irresponsible hoods that throw em a bone.
Ducky, you're absolutely clueless.. Go ahead, deny the truth; who really cares?
Pris, dignity and self-reliance aren't in the leftwingers' handbook; it's all about what you can GET and how you can rob those who worked really hard to get it.
The very, very worst part of this is that the media buys into it and propagates it......people like you and Mr. Pris are like the cross to liberals; they run for a vampire to combat it.
Michael MOore's on Piers Morgan; it's absolutely amazing; . he thinks that capitalism will go down like slavery did and like women got the right to vote; picture that thinking? .. he's all for it / the moron doesn't know America and doesn't realize why other countries' people used to practically die to GET HERE...and he and his ilk want to make it the same hell hole those countries are from which people ran from. are they just that stupid, these Michael Moore-types?
I don't know if they don't understand history, don't want to work hard, feel others are too weak to or too dumb to ...not sure.
But, they're gaining on us; entitlements are a very happy thing to a lot of people with no backbone. Thanks, lefties.
You'll really leave us nothing....even our pain at losing this great country will probably be worse than yours when you've finally done her in.
We'll all be going Greek soon
Won't need any hyphens anymore.
Ducky quacks, "Yeah, hearsay from Rush, that proves the point."
Yeah, Ducky tried the same meme over at my place. According to Liberals, if they don't happen to like the person stating the facts, they must not be facts.
It defies logic.
I don't like many Liberals, but if they state a fact, it's still a fact. Whether I like the person who made the statement or not.
That's the difference between Conservatives and Liberals:
Conservatives think. Liberals feel.
BTW, that came from Rush, and like him or not, it's still true.
Mark, right...but that's the point; it didn't 'come from Rush'...a doctor sent him the story and stands by it.
Anybody who thinks a story like that is rare isn't thinking, either. But, the left can't allow ordinary Americans to believe this stuff because it would work against their plans to ignore the facts and play up the emotions.
You should have seen only the few minute of Michael Moore I saw on Piers Morgan tonight... the smugness in his ridiculous stances against anything remotely reminiscent of the great America of only 30 years ago almost makes me laugh if it weren't so scary
"he and his ilk want to make it the same hell hole those countries are from which people ran from. are they just that stupid, these Michael Moore-types?"
Z, yes, they're that stupid. Michael Moore's got his, and laughs all the way to the bank!
He's a hypocrite of the first order, and made his money by putting down the very system, and beliefs he decries.
He sees himself as above all this, but he's not. If the far left succeeds, he too will not be free to do as he pleases, history proves that.
Excellent!
Actually, I was referring to the statement "Conservatives think, Liberals feel" when I said it came from Rush.
Ducky: Would you please define "the right" for us?
As far as I can tell, it means anybody who disagrees with you.
FW, isn't it? Happy to see you here xx
Pris, such hypocrites.
Joe...look out :-)
Mark; I see, thanks! But I've always felt that, and Dennis Prager's said that for years; still, Rush probably DID coin the phrase..;-)
This guys is another extreme righty selling horse shit to his minions who are gullible enough to buy them and vote against their best interests.
"Ducky: Would you please define "the right" for us?"
Joe, I've asked Ducky that very question. Up to now, he never answered me. Good luck with that. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
To Craig and Ducky, one more point.
Since you consider "workers" to be slaves to their bosses, why is it ok to be slaves to the government?
Just asking!
Bd, some of us don't consider entitlements to be in anybody's "best interest"...but, you're finally beginning to show your sad little dependent soul. Very revealing.
Pris and Joe...try asking Ducky which country he DOES think is more exceptional than America some time........he completely disappears every single time I've asked him.
Just ask any poor person if they'd rather be poor in an india or china or in America, even after liberals have the chance to denigrate the nation and they'll still choose America.
