Weiner's Seat (you should pardon the expression)................

..................went to the REPUBLICANS   Excerpts:

NEVADA UPDATE: 6:20AM L.A. Time:  THIS story hasn't made the news.
Former Republican state senator Mark Amodei has won Nevada's special election to fill a seat in the U.S. House.
Amodei easily bested Democrat Kate Marshall Tuesday in the rural Nevada district that has never elected a Democrat.
Now back to the NY STORY:

"We've been asked by the people of this district to send a message to Washington," Turner told supporters after the landmark win. "I hope they hear it loud and clear. We've been told this is a referendum. Mr. President, we are on the wrong track. We have had it with an irresponsible fiscal policy which endangers the entire economy."
The heavily Democratic district, which spans parts of Queens and Brooklyn, had never sent a Republican to the House. But frustration with the continued weak national economy gave Republicans the edge.
Turner has vowed to bring business practicality to Washington and push back on spending and taxes..........
The race was supposed to be an easy win for Democrats, who have a 3-1 ratio registration advantage in the district.............
The Democratic Party enlisted two of its biggest guns, former President Bill Clinton and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to record phone calls for Weprin. And Democrats relied on organized labor and other affiliated groups to bring voters to the polls."

HALLELUJAH.   Let the Leftwing spinning begin.  This is HUGE.
Man, aren't you glad you're not Anthony Weiner tonight?  I think the Dems will be telling him "bye bye."  I actually feel sorry for the guy;  talk about adding to his troubles.
Off Topic...got a fave food?  Check out below!  Thanks..

Great title of your post, btw. Reminds me of a line from Auntie Mame, "what a seat! What a magnificent seat!" Referring to the way a person was sitting on a horse.

Did they really have a 3 to 1 registration advantage. Halleluyah! The angels are singing.

Opus, I am SO much more excited than my post reveals!! :-)

Ya, HIS SEAT, I'm glad you like it!

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see how the guy votes on legislation. Don't get me wrong, one less Democrat in Congress will always be a good thing, but all we know right now is that the Republican majority in the House went up by one seat. But, being from a heavy Democrat district, he probably isn't all that likely to be a conservative vote.

I get a little skittish about politicians who tout that knowing how to run a business makes them perfect for government leadership. "Let's make government profitable" should scare the hell out of any taxpayer.

Probably harbinger for 2012. I hope so, anyway.

I note that the TV news this morning is giving the story short shrift. LOL.

Talk about idiotic HuffPo readers, one of them made their way here.

Your right Bd, Obama is doing a wonderful job. The problem is the majority of the people in the country are too stupid to see it.

Man Z, you can't make this crap up.

I'm really torn. I despise the right/center triangulating Obama but the pain this nation is going to go through with a fringe right freak administration is unnecessary.

I just added an UPDATE this morning (I wrote the post last night around 10pm):
In case you didn't see the UPDATE, NEVADA elected itself a Republican in a Special Election...the first Republican ever for that district.

Z said...

AOW, they are giving it very short shrift. Yahoo's headline page barely ran the story at all. And the Nevada story is not a story; they're doing their best to make sure Americans don't know about the upsets, it doesn't suit their agenda.

Chuck, no, you sure can't :-)

NY'ers are overjoyed right now.
I am sure the dems will try to get rid of that district now, being the sore losers they are, but even if they do it still shows where the voters stand.
Imagine that, an old white republican won Weiner's seat even with the left's accusations and stereotyping of the party.

B/c there's no pain right now?

Ducky said: "I have to hope it's a progressive phoenix..."

Definition of progressive: A person advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.

Clearly, Democrats are not progressive with their minds constricted to 19th century economic models and failed social systems. In fact the word is only a time worn expression.

Ducky should be careful for that which he wishes. His Phoenix is a dead duck.

Mr. Cube and I were laughing at how the MSM was spinning these losses this morning.

What? It hasn't gone Republican since 1922!!!!

It's a short term seat. Before Weinergate, he planned on running for mayor, because there were plans to eliminate the seat....

From what I have read, getting rid of that district was in the works for some time.

Come on duhkkky - live a little:

Heroin by Velvet Underground

I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same
When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I have made the big decision
I'm gonna try to nullify my life
'Cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the dropper's neck
When I'm closing in on death
And you can't help me not, you guys
And all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I wish that I was born a thousand years ago
I wish that I'd sail the darkened seas
On a great big clipper ship
Going from this land here to that
In a sailor's suit and cap
Away from the big city
Where a man can not be free
Of all of the evils of this town
And of himself, and those around
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know

Heroin, be the death of me
Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life
Because a mainer to my vein
Leads to a center in my head
And then I'm better off than dead
Because when the smack begins to flow
I really don't care anymore
About all the Jim-Jim's in this town
And all the politicians makin' busy sounds
And everybody puttin' everybody else down
And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds

'Cause when the smack begins to flow
Then I really don't care anymore
Ah, when the heroin is in my blood
And that blood is in my head
Then thank God that I'm as good as dead
Then thank your God that I'm not aware
And thank God that I just don't care
And I guess I just don't know
And I guess I just don't know

Yea, it was the "NOT VOTE" fools who gave us Obama. Just because "your candidate" ain't the top dog is no reason to stay at home.
I predicted it would happen in 08 when the Religious far right began the same type of BS talk, stay home. It was "preached" from the pulpits and sure 'nuff' fools stay home and as I wrote, consequences will be hell to pay.
Want the same consequences in 12, by all means stay at home. Remember though, consequences are hell.

The constant whining about people who don't vote the party line is so annoying to me.

It's one's freedom to choose a different candidate more in line with one's beliefs.

And Beamish, i think, meant staying out of the primaries, not the general election.

Rita said...

The only way I'd not vote in the general election is if the early Republican primaries decide that the candidate is Ron Paul. Hell, I might even vote for Obama if that happens. I'd have to go home and vomit afterward, but at this point I think only Ron Paul would be worse for America and Israel.

In my opinion, if you're a purist in your choice, you're looking for perfection. There's no such thing.

I would just remind the naysayers, that along with Obama, are over 40 czars, who are not merely liberals but far left extremist radicals, including the President.

A President heralded the so called "Arab Spring, and watches as th Muslim Brotherhood takes over, without a peep from him.

As we speak, they're shutting down this country, and over regulating us to death, and installing radical indoctrination in our public schools as well.

This is not a center left choice vs a center right choice. This is a radical far left extremist choice vs a conservative or center right choice, depending on which Republican wins the nomination.

If Obama wins re-election, the hammer will come down on us, and come down hard. This isn't a game, it's a contest for survival of this country we love.

So, while one's sense of self satisfaction may be fulfilled, it won't last long.

Pragamatism is the order of the day if we are to have a chance to turn things around, and even in the best of circumstances, it'll be very difficult to undo what has already been done.

My God, how bad do things have to get, before we see the light?

I think I understand beamish too, but I'll save that for another day.

Prisc....as usual...I defer to your wisdom and insight. And in my opinion...we cannot win and retain the America we once knew.

This country as we knew it is doomed...finished. And it's not a matter of brown vs white...or anything like that.

It's more fundamental. It's a matter of who owes what to whom?

Pris "This is a radical far left extremist choice vs a conservative or center right choice, depending on which Republican wins the nomination."

That is SO SO well said; I think you're absolutely right. Excellent call; great way to put it.

Elbro and I just hung up: Apparently, ROn Paul has said whackier things than I'VE ever heard him say...
He kind of reeled me in during that first debate a couple of weeks ago, turned me off in the last CNN one, and Elbro just DID IT for me if I ever even considered for a tenth of a second Ron Paul wasn't 'too bad', which I really didn't.

I"m thinking the media's not ragging on him because there is a chance he could get up in the polls and THEN they'll trounce, which they should. Scum

The necessary screwed "thinking" of the Neanderthal, demorat, parasite crowd"!

As for Brian Williams' grandstandy question to Gov. Rick Perry about Texas' execution rate ("Have you struggled to sleep at night with the idea that any one of those might have been innocent?"):

There is no credible evidence that a single innocent person has been executed in this country since at least 1950.

There is, however, a lot of evidence that innocent people have been killed when murderers were not executed.

And here is...the perverted "thinking" of the elites of a society that has no value for tradition, common sense or Justice.

What matters to these "great minds" is not justice....not parity...but...well sexual orientation and AIDS assistance to the very ones that have foisted this disease upon us....for PC, "equality and justice reasons". Go...Go "girl" transvestite asshole...CHAZ BONO.

We're all Chaz Bono...right? We need a POS sheet like her / him...to tell us how we need to live?

I agree with Pris. I just hope I won't have to vote for a phony Conservative and right wing statist to defeat Obummer.

I hope we get a serious small government, freedom and individual centric candidate.

My gut is telling me Perry is a phony at this point. And Romney's just way too cute to push such an agenda.

We need a guy with cojones. Or a woman with cojones. Actually women tend to have more cojones than men in the political arena these days.

I've heard from them already, let me hear from the other ones.

Rita, GOogle Herman Cain if you're interested; you might find things he's said, done, etc., which can fill you in.
I think he's good at doing what WE do, saying there's a problem; I'm not sure he's got the answers, especially when he wants us to follow Chile in their social security situation.

Pris,

Beamish, your man Pawlenty endorsed Romney, you know, the guy who invented Romneycare!

I wasn't aware that he had done that. Given the results of the Iowa straw poll, it's probably a good thing Pawlenty put his endorsement upon the least left-wing of the top three winners.

I haven't heard the tea party's excited about Romney have you?

To me, that would seem to be a plus, considering the Tea Party is dead set against running a candidate more conservative than Obama.

I like Santorum too, but I'll not stay home, I'll vote for anyone but Obama.

It's still relatively early enough for more conservatives to join the race after the Tea Party leftists finish pushing the remaining one (Santorum) out. I still hold the option of writing my own name in on my ballot in 2012.

I'm beginning to wonder who's side you're on.

Well, Santorum's, for now. When he's gone, and he's nearly gone, the most (relatively speaking) conservative candidates in the race will be Obama and Romney. And that's sad.

Btw, what do you want consevatives to do, wave the white flag at the east coast, and give up?

Nah. Pushing the Tea Party "movement" back into the sewer it crawled out of will suffice.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Or, crazy idea... maybe conservatives could start a counter-offensive and take over the Tea Party.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

I would just remind the naysayers, that along with Obama, are over 40 czars, who are not merely liberals but far left extremist radicals, including the President.

Not a one of them have suggested black people were better off as slaves, as Michelle Bachmann has.

Not a one of them have suggested a religious group needs local, state, or federal "community" approval whether or not they can build a house of worship or school or even live in a neighborhood, as Herman Cain has.

Not a one of them have mandated that children be forced into being injected with one of their lobbyist's dubious drugs or vaccines "for their own good," as Rick Perry has.

Not a one of them have declared that people's "net worth" should also be taxed, as Donald Trump has.

Not a one of them have declared that Iran should be freely traded with and allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon, as Ron Paul has.

Not a one of them have suggested returning to the gold standard (which would most definitely serve to lengthen economic recessions and deepen economic depressions and stall hiring even worse than "stimulus spending" does) as Ron Paul and Herman Cain have.

For a "conservative movement" ::cough cough:: the "Tea Party" can't seem to find an actual conservative to run for President among them.

They seem to be grooming the field to "no worse than Obama" and "much worse than Obama."

How about "better than Obama?" Is that too much to ask?

Besides, in the 2008 election, Obama had over 20,000 votes logged on a voting machine in Philadelphia around 6 hours before the polls opened.

At a rate of 3,333.33_ votes per hour running for four years, that machine alone in Philly is going to deliver Obama 116 million votes.

Z: The problem is that at this point in the game, it doesn't matter who I think would be a better candidate, by the time my state gets around to the primaries, the field has pretty much been decided. So I could spend my time researching the current field, but it's just wasted time until the field is narrowed.
