"The public has a right to KNOW!" :)

Well, well....so James Rosen over at FOX has been spied on, too.  I'm SHOCKED, I tell you...just SHOCKED!!! :-)

Here's my favorite sentence for pure irony from the above article:

"Critics of the monitoring say it threatens reporters' ability to uncover information that the public has a right to know."

Wait.  Americans haven't known about so many important things, but let the press get hit and, suddenly, they are known for the propensity to "uncover information that the public has a right to know?"

Odd, they kept the abortion doctor, Dr Gosnell, out of the news as much as they could.  Anybody hear he was found guilty?   I think FOX covered it.  Yes, he was found guilty.  Who else knew?

I think the "public has a right to know" that and all the details about what happened at Benghazi, and all the details behind the IRS scandal, and the repercussions of the Affordable Care act that they're only now finding out because it's hitting them in their pocketbooks, and how's about Obama's college records?  And how about so many things we've never really been told?

Ya, suddenly the media's mad and the public has a right to know.
Maybe if they'd done their homework and told the public both sides of every situation, we wouldn't be in this place where we're hearing certain people are being targeted by this government.

ugh.  We all could go on and on........... And how do you like the following?:

"An FBI agent said in the 2010 affidavit that there was "probable cause to believe" that Rosen broke the law "as an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator."   But two years later, Rosen has not been charged with any wrongdoing. That could suggest that there was no evidence against him, that the Justice Department realized the potential blowback of prosecuting a reporter for trying to gather information, or both."

Think CNN or MSNBC will include that in their coverage IF they mention any of this at ALL?  (Although, I have to admit that Maddow was a little peeved at her god Obama the other night...to her credit.  I guess when it hits you directly, as a 'journalist'....)

What should happen now about the spying on the media?   What should happen now that we know that  only Conservative groups were held back from getting their tax exemption status particularly before the election so they couldn't act as strongly as they might have had they had those donations...

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN?

Maybe my memory is faulty, but I seem to recall that Obama once said something like, "Fox isn't a real news network."

On the Sunday morning talk shows, Pfeiffer kept using the word irrelevant in reference to at least two scandals presently breaking over the heads of the Obama administration. I think that Pfeiffer actually said, "The law is irrelevant."

What the hell?

A representative of the executive branch views the law as irrelevant?

Yesterday, the Obama administration changed yet another narrative. Which one? I'm losing track.

You can't make this stuff up!

Always On Watch said...

Oh, I know which one. Something about knowledge about the IRS's targeting of conservative groups.

AOW, good morning! He DID say "irrelevant"...you're right, you can't make this stuff up.
And yes, they change narratives all the time.....suddenly, my mind's eye saw a boxer docking and bobbing to avoid the hits.
That's the Obama thugs; they used to have excellent trainers in the boxing ring ready with the big robe to cover him up the minute he broke into the slightest sweat; that was the media with the towels and robes.
let's see if that excellent corner team will still help this boxer after what his admin did to the AP and James Rosen.
oh, I forgot...they DIDN'T do it, they 'knew nothing about it' (AS IF)!!

that article I just read is a kind of adjunct to my piece...I believe the COMMENTS below it are more truthful than the article, but the article itself is interesting.
And, I think that whatever possible danger to our diplomatic actions doesn't trump the methods the AG used in spying on the media.

Also, I think the danger to our intelligence relationships with other countries is going in the toilet...every day. That's a very dangerous situation, indeed.

Does the Bush White House's advice to the NY Times which the Times didn't take on a national security story have any bearing on this story?

Z said...

Funny...just after I commented above about the NY Times, I read this "Sometimes reporters come across information whose disclosure would genuinely put national security at risk. When officials appeal to news organizations on such grounds, editors listen."

of course, Eugene Robinson's WRONG, even LYING, about that because of the Bush/NY Times situation...editors did NOT LISTEN..

BUT, I think THIS ARTICLE is fair, particularly for Eugene Robinson:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/eugene-robinson-obama-administration-mistakes-news-for-espionage/2013/05/20/0cf398e8-c17e-11e2-8bd8-2788030e6b44_story.html?wpisrc=nl_opinions

and, by the way, I DO think there's a very fine line between NEWS and DISCLOSURE THAT SHOULDN'T BE MADE by the press, but, as in Bush's day, is it really good to leave the discretion of "what's more important, the public's right to know or a juicy intel story?" up to the MEDIA?
that's dicey.

I don’t believe the American people have a right to know EVERYTHING the government is doing. For example, do we have a right to know President Obama’s cell phone number? Apparently not. Nor even the name, home address, and email address of some undercover agent of the CIA working in a foreign country.

Our problem, it seems, is that we the people no longer trust the government of the United States —and for darn good reasons. A responsible press will work hard to discover information to share with the American people, and the US government should work equally hard trying to conceal that which they believe must be classified. When a responsible press learns of potentially harmful or damaging information, they should notify the appropriate government agency and then make a decision after a full and frank discussion. Editors and publishers may still end up in court if the press decides to proceed with their story.

Apparently, however, the government has a lot of people who suffer from diarrhea of the mouth … and that is a problem for the government to resolve, not the press.

But now I wonder … what is the ONE thing the White House could do to divert everyone’s attention away from Benghazi and the IRS scandal? By everyone, I mean the people who actually control the flow of information in this country. I think we’re being played like a fiddle, Z …

Sue, CNN barely covered it at all. I watch them, too. Glad they mentioned his guilty charge.
FOX did in-depth coverage; I think Americans need to know more about that and claiming that "it was too gruesome" was ridiculous when we consider how gruesome news is all the time.

Ducky, yes, they've done more to Rosen, of course. Obama despises a news org. which doesn't bow to him. Actually, most of that information is in American Cons. venues, too, but I'm beginning to rely on British papers to get the news in America, too. Sad.

AOW, will read that later, thanks...

Our problem, it seems, is that we the people no longer trust the government of the United States —and for darn good reasons.

Along those same lines, from this short essay by Jennifer Rubin:

...Once a president loses credibility and his words can no longer be accepted at face value, it doesn’t matter what domestic or foreign policy he is pursuing, he’s done as a leader.

How close to that point is the president? Some may think he’s passed it. With a fleet of yes men and women as advisers, he’s particularly handicapped in figuring out how to restore his stature. Maybe a clean sweep of his advisers and cabinet would help. But, since Jay Carney tells us there are no scandals, that isn’t likely to happen soon.

Z said...

AOW, Jennifer Rubin (no relation, I guess :-) is dead wrong, however.
Most of America thinks Obama's doing a fine job and they care more about the economy supposedly dong better than a dead Ambassador and three brave SEALS dead...or a gov't spying on the media or a gov't screwing Conservatives in every way they can.

We need more to make any of this really stick, imagine if this were Bush? He'd be GONE.

There was more leftwing outrage over his drinking and recovering from alcoholism (on his own) than ANY of the outpouring on any of these scandals.

So say the polls.

I haven't been polled, and, to date, I know of nobody else who has been polled, either.

Anybody else here are your busy site who has been recently polled?

Now, I used to get polled regularly -- often by ABC News. No more! For whatever reason, I'm off the list.

The only one who has an advantage in polling data is the incumbent who manipulates that data. I haven't heard much from Rasmussen lately ... not since he predicted an overwhelming win for Romney in the last election. This isn't sour grapes ... simply an acknowledgement that something smells bad in Chicago. If everyone whose expertise is presidential polling data believed that Romney was leading in all measurable indicators, and then suddenly at 11 p.m. on election night the media declared Obama the winner with only 19 states in his pocket ... what other rational conclusion could there be?

I did get a phone call about two months ago, which was abruptly terminated when I answered the age question. I guess the pollsters were only looking for a particular result.

Is there a subtle undercurrent of racism in much of what President Obama asserts when he mounts a podium as he did at Morehouse College speaking to a graduating class there?

This isn't the first time that I seen or heard something coming from his trashy mouth that goes to the issue of race and discrimination, and this is after being elected twice as President. And I realize that he says this while speaking out of the other side of his mouth urging young black people to stop using racism and discrimination as an excuse ...

"Obama said he was lucky to have his mother and grandparents, who raised him, and said that under different circumstances, he could have ended up in prison or unemployed.
'I might have been in prison. I might have been unemployed. I might not have been able to support a family — and that motivates me,' he said.
While he urged graduates to not use race as an excuse for their failures, he acknowledged that the 'bitter legacy' of discrimination still exists in America.
'At some point in life as an African American you have to work twice as hard as anyone else if you want to get by,' he said."

Average American..I've heard the same thing. Not only individuals but their small businesses have been audited with ridiculously picayune questions/details; very unusual.
And there's a very wealthy guy in Utah who gave to the Romney campaign and he had to spend something like $85,000 for lawyers during his audit(s)...It ended up that the gov't owed HIM money.
And they dragged on those business audits for a longer time than usual.
Rough times for anybody who doesn't buy into Obama.

1. A couple morons, one with a baton, are standing outside a polling station.

2. Passerby calls the cops.

3. Cops come and the two clowns leave.

No claim of intimidation was ever filed.
Only one had a baton so a conspiracy conviction isn't possible.
The head goon was at worse liable for a misdemeanor.

Want a list of mainstream media heads that have relatives (spouses, siblings) working in the uppoer levels of the Obama Administration?

This opportune confluence of arrogance and stupidity from the Obama administration should be exploited for the death knell of leftism in America that it could be.

Or, we could, you know, rah-rah for Donald Trump or something.

Ever see the pictures? :-)) but, in America, one could call the recent tactics at least dangerous...in America, we don't think it's a good idea to investigate businesses because they're owned by Conservatives.

Oh, so using "GESTAPO" suddenly implies someone here's comparing the thugs with night sticks as KIRSTALLNACHT? it's a term, Duck, don't get too literal. It's used to show extremism, toughness...threat. Again, not unlike the polling thugs.

Why I don't listen to Mustang and just stop communicating with you, Ducky, is beyond me.
You're so vapid and ridiculous in trying so hard to obfuscate the excellent and important points made here.

If the left can use the terms they do about the right, I'm thinking my readers have every right to use GESTAPO TAcTICS....also, at AA's site, there is quite a gestapo tactic by our govt.; You'll rip it apart in your zeal to appear above it all, but do it at your peril. leave it in your mind,it's best there.

Z,
Government in a republican form can only function properly when the checks and balances are in tune with each other. When one branch of government is out of balance the others must reign them in.

In this case you have one part of the legislative that covers its eyes and allows the executive to run wild. The executive is the branch that needs to watched the closest. Mainly it is a cult of power. The cabinet is appointed by the president and they owe their allegiance to him and him only.

We the people must rely on the legislative branch to keep watch over it and exercise its constitutional power to check the executive and his appointees. When the legislative branch has sold its soul to the president and in this case the Senate has, the executive can only be troubled constitutionally by the judicial branch which is an extremely slow process.

Then the people must depend on a vigilant press. That piece is obviously more sycophantic than the Senate. Essentially Obama and his group have had an essentially free ride.

This cover-up is filled with so many lies that they are having trouble remembering them. As a police officer I watched many a criminal lie themselves into jail. You don't need to memorize the truth.

Z said...

Most of my commenter/libs see that they can't argue with the conservatives on the IRS and AP, (even if they STILL don't think that four dead Americans is a real terrible thing that needs truth by which to relieve the families of the dead and do all we can to prevent this from happening again AND assure other diplomatic offices around the world we DO have their back, unlike we did in Benghazi) and the lib commenters STAYING AWAY FROM COMMENTING.

Remember that next time Wolf Blitzer demonstrates how much air is in a potato chip bag while there's a large scale massacre in Nepal. OR State Department employees being left to die in the middle of Obama's choom time with Jay-Z. Or whenever money is giving to a Taliban "negotiator" that turns out to be a scam artist (never mind the intent to give money to a terrorist organization, here's Willard with the weather...)

Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes, leading advocate of Obama's cultivating the rise of al-Qaeda affiliated Islamic terrorist groups against various governments in North Africa and the Middle East (aka the "Arab Spring"), is the younger brother of CBS News President David Rhodes. See BS News was already an apt name. Now even more so. Badmouth Obama's foriegn policy blundering? The Rhodes don't go there.

Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, the Special Assistant to the President and White House Coordinator for Arms Control and WMD, Proliferation and Terrorism, is the sister of ABC News President Ben Sherwood.

ABC News Business Reporter Bianna Golodryga? She's the wife of Obama's former budget director Peter Orszag. Good news, the economy now has flavor crystals.

ABC News and Univision political reporter Matte Jaffe? Married to the Deputy White House Press Secretary Katie Hogan. I wonder if he camps on the couch when he won't sit on her lap and play ventriloquist dummy at work.

Obama's "chairman of the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness" Jeffrey R. Immelt is Chairman and CEO of General Electric, which owns the NBC network (including MSNBC, CNBC, CNBC World, The Weather Channel,

""I am not a dictator".

Because...a dictator would seize the press and have them bury any unfavorable story and write puff pieces about him.

Because...a dictator would send the government's agents to harass, intimidate and punish anyone who dared to write a negative story.

Because...a dictator would send the government's revenue agents to harass, intimidate and investigate citizen's tax filings.

Because...a dictator would declare war on a country without seeking approval of his government.

Because...a dictator would attempt to seize the arms with which the citizenry might protect itself.

Because...a dictator would run guns to drug cartels and then have his Department of Justice cover up the fact, eventually granting executive privilege to cease the inquiry.

Because...a dictator would let his own ambassador die a bloody and brutal death in order to callously gauge his own reelection impact.

Because...a dictator would paint Catholics, Jews, Mormons and Christians as "terrorist threats" in order to have his army trained to treat them with suspicion and disdain.

Because...a dictator would pass a massive "redistribution" hoax having his lawyers call it a tax, while he simultaneously denies it is any such thing.

Because...a dictator would suggest that he could drop a missile on the head of any citizen he damn well pleases.

Because...a dictator can force the Catholic religion to reject their own tenets of their faith in order to compel compliance with his legislative fiats.

Because...a dictator can shut off access to the residence he occupies under the phony guise of "sequestration" costs.
