The Grinch just stole our HEALTH CARE

UPDATE FROM OBAMA: He's going late to Hawaii for Christmas! He says
"My attitude is that if they're making these sacrifices to provide health care to all Americans then the least I can do is to be around and provide them any encouragement and last-minute help where necessary," What a guy, huh? :-) More Louisiana Purchases, Nebraska windfalls, obfuscation on abortion? "Cash for Cloture"?.... here's my original post:

Looks like the majority of Americans won't be very happy with their
Christmas gift this year from Democrats of a complete health care overhaul.

The linked article includes this: "Republicans are determined to give Democrats no help, eager to deny Obama a political victory and speculating openly that the health care issue will hurt Democrats in the 2010 midterm elections." REALLY? That's why Republicans aren't happy? REALLY?

GeeeeZ, I'm thinking maybe it's less about defeating Democrats or Obama and more about helping this country to not have to swallow the nonsense that this is not a "big spending government bill," as Mr. Obama says....he adds that "this cuts our deficit by $132 billion the first 10 years, and by over a trillion in the second." Is he kidding? But, of course, he also asserts that, though Blue Shield, Blue Cross, and all the other private insurance companies (you know those 'sinful' "FOR PROFIT" companies Obama despises) won't be ABLE to stay in business after government care kicks in (who'll buy good insurance for employees when less than good insurance is available to a small business's employees for far less? Are the Democrats lying or just not thinking things through again?), so, how can we really believe him on any of this?

Republicans weren't asked for input, the media won't print the plans they had for health care, this thing is being rushed through, 'cash for cloture' was disgusting and shameful for all of America, a majority of Americans polls against it, and it won't go into affect until 2013 or so.. ... so why the rush? And why vote at MIDNIGHT? The article says they're voting at "odd hours to overcome unanimous Republican opposition." But, WAIT! Republicans are showing up at those odd hours, so............tell me again why it's at midnight, please??

GeeeeeZ We've just turned into Canada. God help us all. I'm imagining Canadians are pretty sad to lose their way out of THEIR lousy, government-run, procedure-delaying, care-denying system, now, too, huh?

UPDATE: (Some sort of 'good news') HERE. Come ON, PUBLIC....it's all about big gov't and higher taxes and us losing ours so we all must have mediocre healthcare. Let's help the uninsured and LEAVE OURS ALONE. CONTACT YOUR SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN...The Democrats are counting on you NOT to because it's Christmas and you're busy!... Don't let that hold you back from giving them your opinion.

Check out this blogger's post. ObamaKare will outlaw certain types of insurance policies, including the type of private policy that Mr. AOW and I have!

The Democrats WILL lose out in the end if it passes, they won't be able to blame Bush or anyone but themselves when the health care sucks if this passes.

I am of the thinking that we have to sway just one Democrat to see the light. I have been writing to only my Democrat Senator. The Republicans are powerless at this point.

(By the way, I love it when the word verification is an actual word, mine right below here is the word "bless"!)

I want to know what happened to Senator Coburn's determination to have every single word of Bernie Sander's 700-page Communistic amendment read aloud? Senator Jim DeMint had promised to support Coburn in this effort to slow down the process and force deliberations into the New Year.

HOW did Hairy Red manage to stop this? Or if by any chance he didn't, WHY did the Coburn and DeMint give up?

In fact I cannot understand why ALL Republicans worthy of the name have not DEMANDED -- and demanded LOUDLY -- that every single word of the now-3000-page bill be read aloud on the senate floor.

I watched two great Frank Capra films last night State of the Union and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Boy! Did Capra and Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, who wrote the play State of the Union, ever understand the immense difference between the hypocrisy, bribery, coercion and corruption that is the reality of American Politics, and the pure and noble ideas of our Constitution, as it was conceived and written by the Founders.

Thee problems we face today are EXACTLY LIKE the problems we have faced all along. Plato, Aristotle, Socrates and Sophocles commented on the core political issues of their time which were the same as ours.

The ONE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM is to find a way to GOVERN without lapsing into TYRANNY.

Right now, we are in the grip of would-be TYRANTS.

The democratic process is being abandoned in favor of bribery and corruption, which makes for an essentially LAWLESS society -- a society that has abandoned TRUTH in favor of EXPEDIENCY.

This has happened because we failed to heed Franklin's warning: "He he would up a measure of Liberty for a measure of safety, deserves neither Liberty nor Safety."

I'm right with Freethinker, where are the Republicans?

They haven't really put up more than a token resistance and then they crawl away whining about the media not covering their press conferences in Washington DC.

They step out of their office and issue a sound bite and call this fighting back?

Why aren't they out in their districts? Why aren't they doing interviews on the local tv stations? Most local stations would love to get a sitting Senator or Congressman to appear for an interview.

I do like the idea that they will have this to use against the Dems next year in the elections but I would have liked it much better if they had stopped it.

They seem to be seeing health care reform more as a campaign issue than a true fight for our economic lives. Most of them couldn't even bother to attend the tea parties or health care forums.

So, the question has to be asked. If this is all they have, why do they deserve to retake Congress? What have they done to show they will figh for our interests?

Oh, wait it's just another far right drama queen.

Bernie got a few billion put in there for public health clinics. That's about the only democratic socialist clause in the bill.

Tom Coburn is God's own fool. But he's what Oklahoma deserves.

They're going along with the game and fattening up pharma and the insurance companies along with their Democratic brethren.

This is a mugs game and you fools think it has something to do with political party as you are asked to bend over for state capitalism once again.

Duck, you know damned well this has been an attempt to takeover health care. Further you can read as well as the rest of us, the libtards are not done trying to accomplish the takeover.

Do not take my comments out of context for your nonsense. While I roundly fault the GOP for not standing up to this better, this is the Dem's show. Put the blame where it belongs.

z says this bill will kill profit. The Big Casino says she's on drugs:

The S&P Healthcare Index rose 1.4 percent, while the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Payor stock index rose 3.6 percent. The S&P Managed Health Care index rose 4.6 percent.

"All in all, relative to the last version of health reform issued by the Senate, things have turned out pretty well for the health insurance industry," said Carl McDonald, an analyst at Oppenheimer. "In particular, all versions of a government-run health plan have largely been eliminated."

The original Senate bill taxed the health insurance industry a fixed $6.7 billion a year. Under the new proposal, the industry would face a $2 billion tax in 2011, with increases over time to $10 billion in 2017.

Analysts said the new proposal would allow insurers time to factor the tax into pricing.

The bill would require most Americans to have insurance, expanding the membership rolls for health insurers. At the same time, it replaces a proposed government-run public insurance option with less onerous exchanges to cover those who are not covered through their employment.

Matthew Borsch, an analyst at Goldman Sachs & Co., said Cigna Corp remains his favorite among health insurers.

"Aside from reform, the important backdrop to our sector view is fundamentals, which are decidedly mixed but with the key being that downside risk to commercial margins is mitigated by firming of industry pricing," he said in a research note.

Shares of Cigna rose 5.3 percent to $37.69. Shares of Aetna Inc rose 5.84 percent to $34.41. Humana Inc rose 3.79 percent to $45.17 and United Health Group Inc rose 5 percent to $33.14. Shares of Wellpoint Inc rose 3.8 percent to $60.51.

If it's scarlet, cerise, blood, barn, or sangue de boeuf, it's RED, folks.

Some things really ARE that simple.

The biggest open secret is that the Republicans have been a very dark shade of Shocking Pink for a long time. They're IN ON IT. That's why their "resistance," is jejune and all-but invisible.

Ducky, take a deep breath and stop believing the Dem talking points; reality shows differently.
And yes, Canadians will not get what they got here in good health care when their plans turned them down....sad thing is we won't, either.
WAIT, Ducky....just wait. I'm glad that bastion of good economics, Goldman Sachs, is your information. geez

AOW, I'm so sorry about that, but the Blues, too, will have to close. Nobody will buy, they close.
Obama's dream of NO PROFITABLE CORPORATIONS will come to fruition and then China will have to bail them out...again.

Beth, I love that you got "bless"! I've had amazingly cogent word verifications to the post I was commenting on..weird!

Beamish...that's the goal.

Chuck and FT are right...but I think the Republicans are just not being heard.

Not one lefty can answer:

WHY AT MIDNIGHT? (Imagine if the Right did this with this huge a plan!?)
WHY NOT EXPOSE THE MAIN POINTS? (even Dick Durbin didn't know)

YOu can't make this stuff up, folks.

Heard this morning that there will be need for thousands and thousands of internists which we don't have in this country now..all who will be on the gov't payroll if we can ever find them or train them....if any doctor really wants to go back to making Canadian salaries for their 12 years of advanced schooling.
If anybody thinks we won't suffer because of the glut of doctors, you're fooling yourself.
If anybody thinks panels won't be in place doling out health care, you're nuts.

During the presidential campaign Obama promised that there would be transparency unlike the previous administrations. President BO promised to have the health care debate aired on C-Span. Well, that never happened. Obama LIED!!! This administration has been about as transparent as a 40 foot high brick wall charged to keep the enemy out. What the Democrats are masquerading as "reform" is the biggest piece of garbage in history. Obamacare will do great harm to our citizens and our country. The truth is that health care costs will skyrocket under Obamacare instead of the Democrats claims that it lowers health care costs. Obamacare will change the status quo and for the worse.
Change Nobody Believes In:

And tidings of comfort and joy from Harry Reid too. The Senate Majority Leader has decided that the last few days before Christmas are the opportune moment for a narrow majority of Democrats to stuff ObamaCare through the Senate to meet an arbitrary White House deadline. Barring some extraordinary reversal, it now seems as if they have the 60 votes they need to jump off this cliff, with one-seventh of the economy in tow.
Mr. Obama promised a new era of transparent good government, yet on Saturday morning Mr. Reid threw out the 2,100-page bill that the world's greatest deliberative body spent just 17 days debating and replaced it with a new "manager's amendment" that was stapled together in covert partisan negotiations. Democrats are barely even bothering to pretend to care what's in it, not that any Senator had the chance to digest it in the 38 hours before the first cloture vote at 1 a.m. this morning. After procedural motions that allow for no amendments, the final vote could come at 9 p.m. on December 24.
Voting on abortion as the taxpayer'bill is bad enough, but passing it on Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of our Savior is a big slap in the face to every Christian in our nation. Get these people our of office!
Again the President is giving us the finger.

Even you liberals should be ashamed! But you wanted "Change" you got "Change"

"We just turned into Canada? You mean we got the public option?"

Ducky, for crying out loud, don't be so dense. This bill is 2100 pages of taxes, mandates, fines and regulations. The government is all over this thing.

It adds more regulations and taxes to the insurance industry, and medical providers, forcing up the costs for both, and passing on those costs to patients all done through both entities.

You can call it anything you want, but if the government controls the health industry, we are under the control of the government.

When the government contols private entities it's called fascism, when it nationalizes those industries it's called communism. In either case it's called tyranny. That's what we got here. So, if you call it "public option", what's the difference? Semantics, as far as I can tell.

Tyranny, is tyranny.

Btw, I understand in this bill, people who are suffering financial hardship will not be fined or required to buy insurance. So what's the point to all this, if not control?

I thought the point was everyone being insured. Yeah right. There will still be 24 million without insurance when all is said and done. It should be obvious to everyone what's going on here.

PSI BOND, that's my main question..how can liberals not be ashamed at the lies? But, the lying started, to the best of MY knowledge, when Obama admitted that he lived in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, but didn't know him....how horrid; did he really think the truth wouldn't come out?

Pris, you always knock it out of the park. It's ALL about control or why else would the rush be so important? It's a rush to start their next step of control; somewhere, I'm thinking there's a wicked timeline and they're almost on line with the plan

Tom....isn't that amazing? Liar, indeed..what a painful thing to admit about our president.
Merry Christmas, dear Tom.

Thanks Z. I think it starts next year when the taxes kick in, and the Bush tax cuts expire.

For any liberals around here, an expiration of tax cuts, is a tax hike, so save your smoke and mirrors for somewhere else. Ah, but there will be new taxes on top of that.

Anyone who thinks those will be limited to incomes over $250,000, is dreaming.

I can't see any way that taxes don't go up, if for no other reason than the tax cuts will expire and the taxes for health care will kick in. Isn't it interesting that we will pay for it before we get it? Wouldn't buy anything like that my own. It takes government coercion to get it done.

You have to hand it to Demorats:

The GOP is still back at "gosh by golly, hope I won't disabuse the moderates."

A Merry Christmas from President Obama standing in front of the White House Christmas tree would be fine. But now who the hell would stick picture of Mao in Christmas tree decorations? Is this contrived to try to elicit some sort of frothing reaction from FoxNews viewers on the other side? Stranger things have happened, IMO.

Wasn't Mao ably assisted in his "revolution" by powerful Americans who wanted him in place? In more recent history it was President Nixon and Henry Kissinger who opened the door to a new period of relations with China in the 1970's. After that it was President Clinton who assisted in transferring technology to China followed by American financing to assist in building the facilities
to manufacture the goods that would then be exported back to America and other Western countries — think Chase Manhattan bank here.

This was all part of a long range plan of which Obama is just another evolving cog in the mechanism — at least that's my view from the Great White North.
