I couldn't resist.......

To My Democrat Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country, nor even the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, please know that this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference.

To My Republican Friends:
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

(thanks, Imp!) z

That's great.
Global warming is at work in France. 70% of the country is under snow.

Copenhagen is a failure and I love it.

I saw a bumper sticker about a week ago that said "Christmas has pagan roots." Who knew?

FrogBurger...I waited FOUR YEARS to have a good amount of snow during the winter in Paris and got 2 1/2 days :-( ENJOY!

I heard the Tunnel is a nightmare with thousands stranded..Honestly, I think I'd completely have a melt down to be halfway under the English Channel and have the train stop and the lights go down. Oh, MAN!

ALWAYS...Merry Christmas, anyhow!

Beth..good!

Z-MAN...the "Christ" part isn't pagan!

Hey Z, this is great!! I love it.

See how much simpler it is to be a conservative Christian? Just give Jesus his due. How complicated is that?

Merry Christmas.

Huh? Almost sounds like the legislation currently being considered in Washington....

To be un-politically correct -

Merry Christmas!!

Pris - What is the difference between a Conservative Christian and other Christians?

"Pris - What is the difference between a Conservative Christian and other Christians?"

Hi Sue,
Their politics. Example: Ducky.

Pris - But isn't being a Christian the same for all - accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Even me - and Ducky.

Yes Sue, of course in that sense, it is. I didn't mean to imply it isn't.

But, this post is about political correctness, and even Christmas has become a victim of it.

Most liberal Christians I know have difficulty just wishing folks Merry Christmas as if it's somehow offensive. That's all I meant. In fact, I just experienced this very thing at a Christmas gathering a few days ago.

Sue:
You, yes. Ducky, no.

Just kidding. Merry Christmas, Sue and Ducky.

As I did at Target yesterday...The checkout clerk wouldn't say Merry Christmas when I got to the counter ( this was a little test on my part as they sure had plenty of Christmas decorations and items for sale, as well as decorating the store in Christmas modes! )

So I left the items on the counter and said...see ya and Merry Christmas!

Z said...

Pris, very interesting statement there....liberal Christians, and more 'nominal' ones, are less inclined to say MERRY CHRISTMAS, I've noticed that, too.
I think it's more of the PC stuff that's stifling our country in every way, sadly. I believe Conservative Christians are a little less eager for wiggle room. As a Christian, one believes and follows Christ, who said in a million ways "I AM the life..NO ONE comes to the Father but through Me" (Sorry to paraphrase to make my point)...liberal Christians I know believe "Christ is ONE WAY to God"..hence, to wish Merry Christmas might sound to them as if they're putting their faith on others...Conservative Christians feel it's our duty to bring people to Christ.
I'm generalizing here, but your statement about "offensive" helped me to focus my feelings...you're right on that, I think.

Imp...man, I HATE TARGET here in LA....you can't find ANYTHING that's Made in America...and you can barely hear English spoken...
I felt like a Stranger in a Strange Land the one time I went this year with Mr. Z...he was furious and we very nearly did leave without purchasing. GOOD ON YOU.

"I HATE TARGET here in LA..."

Even funnier Z...to me anyway...was the fact that ( although I've hated Target since their ban on the Salvation Army at Christmas a couple of years ago ) they had the only outdoor fireplace that was halfway decent...from what I saw online anyway. So they had one in stock....44 pounds and 40'' in diameter. I plopped the box on the counter so the lazy clerk could use the scanner on the bar code...and that's where it stayed when I walked out! It was heavy...but I was satisfied to leave it there.

And...we braved the 50 degree weather for our outdoor party. I still felt all warm inside now that they lost $200!!

I can just see it now -

God will say, Conservative Christians in this line,
Liberals Christians in the other.

Z said...

Sue, which line leads to heaven? You saw zero in my comments that made sense to you? Well...I'm certainly no expert, to say the least.
But, obviously, nobody is suggesting we know any Christian's heart......I just doubt if God gives a hang about politics, but I'll bet he gives a hang that 'no false doctrine' is passed...says that a LOT in the Scriptures, doesn't it.

Imp, that's hilarious...nice that it was a big ticket item!

Yesterday at the local grocery store, there was a Salvation Army bell ringer..I gave him some money and asked "Are you allowed to say Merry Christmas!?" He said "We SURE are!"

sue said...

Hmmm - which line leads to Heaven?

Is the answer: the Conservative line?

And the Liberal line (which I will be leading) will go to the 'warm' place.

Meanwhile I will enjoy having my little Conservative grandchildren
here for the HOLIDAYS!!!

What is the difference between a Conservative Christian and other Christians?

Around 40 IQ points.

sue, I was only repeating what you'd asked, I know what you meant and no, I don't believe politics leads us anywhere but away from the most important things. I"m furious and aghast at the horrible paybacks of this health care bill...and the rush. I'd have thought liberals, too, would be asking "if the majority of Americans don't want this, why the rush?" sad

Enjoy your Christmas with the children!
