Sunday Faith Blog.....with a LITTLE politics included!

"For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." John 3:20

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32

Seems to me that LIGHT is being shed and TRUTH is getting out in America. ACORN's scandal(s), Health care plans being revealed for what they really are, Gitmo not closing immediately, staying in Iraq and Afghanistan after all the anti-war campaigning, "stimulating" packages showing that lowering taxes would probably have been a better idea (where that's being proven to work even in traditionally high tax countries!)........... Keep the faith.

Shine your light today and every day. Have a great day! Mr and Mrs Z

Truth is the ultimate value. Even love is useless without truth.

And truth is not difficult to define (What is so as opposed to what ain't so.) but it is often hard to pin down.

I am the Way, The Truth, and the Life.

Hi geeeeZ I've seen your comment around the blog so I stopped by to give it a read. I'm really impressed.
Thanks for being a good fighter.

Hi, everybody!
And thanks for your input.

Prof of Life...thanks very much, glad to have you here.

Yes, the light has always been expressed in our lives as good. Sometimes without our realizing it.

It occurs to me that when my daughter would drop off my grandson here every morning on her way to work, I would say to him, "there's my sunshine boy".

Or when in a cartoon a sudden idea, or revelation is depicted with a lightbulb going on over the character's head.

So, it seems we all have an innate recognition that the light illuminates the positive, and goodness.

Thanks Z, let the light shine!

Thanks, Z, for a lot of rightwing politicking this Sunday seasoned with a LITTLE religion to make it seem kosher and righteous.

Remember the Empire State Building! Don’t let all that is light blind you.

Nowadays, Truth is what partisans believe will discredit the opposition; the Truth wets their glee.

I needed this today. Thank you.

Z said...

Thanks for all your comments..they're revealing and help us all keep on the path.......There is right and wrong and it's not our call; this is what's important and this is what most of you see so clearly; there is light....just keeping shining it on the darkness of the kinds of things I mentioned in the post...!
I hope you all had a good Sunday.

Z,
As always you hit the nail on the head. Truth is big, but it is so evasive in today's media. I remember in police days, that when I was sued, and all cops are, the truth was the best defense. Well done.

Z said...

L&0, thanks for that.

I was hoping somebody could defend the points on my post; staying in Afghanistan and IRaq, not closing Gitmo, even SWEDEN lowering taxes....(the country that was the poster child for "let's be yet another stupid socialist country!, redistribution CAN work HERE!"), healthcare "No rationing! we're just taking $500 billion out of Medicare but you'll NEVER NOTICE..tee hee! And, anyway, it's been 'broken' but we'll FIX it by taking out all that corruption!"

Oh, and I'd love to have somebody prove where this White House has given five minutes consideration to the thousands of scientists who DON'T think global climate change can be alleviated more than 2% with the biggest of economy-killing factors the Gore dopes want to employ, forcing us to use THEIR lightbulbs, THEIR cars, etc etc...love to hear that one.

psi bond said...

I understand that if I do not agree with your views, then I don't get it----the order of the cosmos, according to Z----and you can only wish me the blessings of ignorance, for you are the light. Hallelujah!

Thanks for lighting up my Sunday, Z.

Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it.
-- Andre Gide

Z said...

Psi Bond..not at all.
I don't give a whit if you do or don't agree with 'my views'..not at ALL.
Just stop misquoting, or misrepresenting them. I've said this exact thing before...thanks.

And, no I can't wish you the 'blessings of ignorance'...someone beat me to it.

Z said...

By the way, I absolutely agree with Gide.
But I do believe there IS a truth, whether you or I or Gide like it or not.

Sorry about the line about someone beating me to it regarding ignorance and you, psi bond; your comments are always so sort of nasty that they sometimes bring out the worst in me. ... But, not for long. I do wish you the best.

It stunned me that you would even pick my Faith Blog on which to pounce and insult, frankly.

psi bond said...

Z, because I completely agree with Gide, I doubt you.

It stunned me that you would try to score partisan points under the guise of religious piety.

Politics can be argued over endlessly, but even God rested from all his labors on the seventh day.

Z said...

Psi bond, you said "Z, because I completely agree with Gide, I doubt you."

And, of course, you can doubt all you want. I wonder why you think I'd say that if I don't mean it. Do you lie?

"It stunned me that you would try to score partisan points under the guise of religious piety."

No, not religious piety....truth, encouragement, inspiration...I love my readers' comments/reactions and get great solace from that.

"Politics can be argued over endlessly, but even God rested from all his labors on the seventh day."

This is more than 'politics' anymore, psi bond..this is out and out war with a darkness America never thought would come...extreme liberalism is now so dangerous that we mustn't rest... But, really, if you felt like this, you should have stayed away and followed your instincts.

But, you do make me smile in a kind of sad way, and I wish you peace...have a wonderful evening.

PSI, All three of these statements sound pretty definitive to me. Very much like truths to those who cited them.

Why should anyone take them seriously when the authors submit there is no absolute truth?

"the Truth wets their glee.""

Btw, PSI, for you who loves to correct people, I believe "wets" in your quote should be "whets".

Finally, you come here on Sunday to impart your self-perceived wisdom, when what you impart is a lot of gobbledygook.

You are a sanctimonious, self-agrandizing, stuffed shirt who wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the face.

Of course, you can't distinguish light in the sense of spiritual illumination, as opposed to lights turned on in the Empire State Building. Why am I not surprisd!

Z: And, of course, you can doubt all you want. I wonder why you think I'd say that if I don't mean it. Do you lie?

I wonder why you wonder? Whether or not I had your permission, I would doubt you. And say as much. Particularly when you append your declarations to biblical quotations.

"It stunned me that you would try to score partisan points under the guise of religious piety.”

No, not religious piety....truth, encouragement, inspiration...I love my readers' comments/reactions and get great solace from that.

Religious piety appears to the faithful as truth, giving them encouragement and inspiration. I love their reactions, too.

"Politics can be argued over endlessly, but even God rested from all his labors on the seventh day.”

This is more than 'politics' anymore, psi bond..this is out and out war with a darkness America never thought would come...extreme liberalism is now so dangerous that we mustn't rest... But, really, if you felt like this, you should have stayed away and followed your instincts..

If you feel an “out and out war” against liberalism is called for you are talking politics, extreme politics, unless, of course, you mean it literally. If the latter is the case, you are talking about civil war or military coup. If that is the case, there is no way I could stay away, even if I wanted to.

But, you do make me smile in a kind of sad way, and I wish you peace...have a wonderful evening.

Oh yes, Z, I pity you, too. My pity is bigger than yours. Knowing that you pity me, Z, lightens up my evening.

Priscilla: PSI, All three of these statements sound pretty definitive to me. Very much like truths to those who cited them. Why should anyone take them seriously when the authors submit there is no absolute truth?

Whitehead’s statement was no doubt made in the context of such problems as Russell’s Paradox. His words embody it, thus exemplifying it. Which may serve to underscore the human inability to reach Truth.

Gide was stating a personal rule of guidance, not an absolute truth.

I was stating a personal observation concerning what seems to me to be the contemporary usage of the word ‘truth’.

"the Truth wets their glee."".

Btw, PSI, for you who loves to correct people, I believe "wets" in your quote should be "whets".

BTW, I believe you are correct. I was quoting myself spontaneously, and indeed I should have said “whets their glee”. I am glad to have whetted your glee.

Finally, you come here on Sunday to impart your self-perceived wisdom, when what you impart is a lot of gobbledygook.

No, Priscilla, I come here on Sunday to impart my perspective, just as I assume the other posters have done. Nowadays, ‘gobbledygook’ is whatever one does not wish to hear.

You are a sanctimonious, self-agrandizing, stuffed shirt who wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the face.

I am pleased that you have such a good opinion of me. I wish I could speak as well of you.

Of course, you can't distinguish light in the sense of spiritual illumination, as opposed to lights turned on in the Empire State Building. Why am I not surprisd!.
Spiritual illumination is being confused here with light in the sense of the right political position to have, as if there could be no distinction. I am not surprised that the conflation is being attempted.

I think more Americans are beginning to see the light, beginning to step out, speak out, make themselves seen and heard. This is a very good thing.

Many who have faith have been sitting on the sidelines, as AOW says. I think that is changing. We have seen too much damage from the Obama administration AND from the likes of RINOs like John McCain.

McCain must be stopped just as much as Obama must be stopped.

Tut tut! I see there is a stand in, or is it a replacement, for Canardo.

Every place needs a gadfly.

BTW the truth would set us free, if we knew what it was. We've been trying to find out since cave days. I don't think we got there yet.

Glimpses of truth from saints and poets, but we don't begin to have the whole picture.

The more we learn the more mysterious, less certain and intriguing it becomes.

Life should be more about asking good questions more than supplying right answers.

No, I operate from the empirically established fact that in the 220+ years that the Left has been ascribed as the political descendants of the ignorant illiterates that sat on the left side of the French Estates General that if any leftist ever had something intelligent to say, one certainly would have by now.

But thank you for proving my point.

That passionate assertion, beamish, of alleged fact is predicated on subjective judgment of intelligence (and Orwellian redefinition thereof) that stems from exceedingly partisan emotion.

Fond of name-dropping, eh, f? The above perception is your second-division opinion from shadows of the cave. My anamnesis is progressing, though, as I hope yours is.

Nietzsche never studied "geometry".

True, the thinking of Nietzsche has no parallel in the Euclidean geometry that Plato knew; but Nietzsche introduced the force of non-Euclidean geometry into philosophy at about the same time as it was being discovered in mathematics.

What partisans declare is “Truth” is just a low-level corruption of the Platonic Form.

The Truth is Wittgenstein didn’t care what he ate as long as it was the same thing every day.
