Napolitano...what do you really think?

I'm a bit puzzled about this push/pull over Napolitano's comment that "the System worked". Can anybody really think she meant the system of prevention? Or did she mean "once there was a problem, the system worked...he's in custody, etc."

I'm thinking we're carrying on a tad too much about her comment and it just didn't make SENSE for her to have said anything WORKED when a plane load of good people almost lost their lives. On the other hand, now that I'm typing this, how could the system have NOT worked when he was hostage on that plane? It's not like "Hey, we GOT THE GUY! Isn't that astonishing!?" Okay. Now I'm confused....I was trying to be fair, but...........
Talk to me.............

A New Years message to Liberals..

I know it's tough, but try to understand that what the Democrats in D.C. do, doesn't mean everybody left of you guys somehow supports them and what they do.

Here are some facts for you.

The right (Conservatives), overwhelmingly supported the Patriot act.

The left (Liberals), overwhelmingly did not support the Patriot act. And that's why we are in the trouble we are in today.

Got that?
Of course, you guys will keep blindly supporting Obama and vote for his re-election in 2012.

I thought that comment Napolitano made was strange when I first heard it and I still think it's strange. WHAT "system" worked? I can only guess that her mouth was moving but her brain wasn't connected. I hope that's all it was.

Ducky, You're deleted ..I'm not taking insults here....good try but stupid.

The FACTS are that 2 of the guys released from Gitmo were behind this guy. CNN hasn't mentioned that yet, to the best of my knowledge....odd

The facts are that the Patriot Act was supported widely by both parties...at one point, only Feingold didn't vote for certain provisions. Blame Bush.

The facts are that nothing worked in this situation but people trying to save their lives and the lives of their fellow travelers.

The terrorist watch system watched a terrorist get on a plane. It worked.

Yeah z, they were released all right --- by Cheney.

Right gets it wrong again

>>>Massa has taken on ex-VP Dick Cheney, who he says is directly responsible for releasing the top al Qaeda figures in Yemen who aided and trained the Nigerian-born suspect.

"I would remind the American public that the apparent leaders of the al Qaeda cell in Yemen were 2 terrorists who were released by Vice President Cheney in secret. I think there's a level of accountability that has to be levied personally on the vice president," Massa said in an interview. "He is personally responsible for that."

Ducky, it was wrong to let any of them go. I don't put my party above my country.
thanks.

Z,
I agree that letting any of these people go is tantamount to malfeasance. This is what happens when politics gets involved in national security issues. It's happened before and it will happen again. I thought the National Security Act of 1947 was supposed to remove politics from these issues. Sadly, politics are involved in everything when politicians are more interested reelection than doing their job. Napoloeon said it best, "In politics, stupidity is not a handicap."

Yes Elbro, and the Bush administration was constantly dealing with federal courts, fighting to maintain it's control of wartime decisions.

Who the hell elected a private group of lawyers, the ACLU, to decide how a war should be run or how we deal with our prisoners? Isn't that what the President and Congress were elected for?
