Peace on Earth

Wouldn't it be nice if things felt as peaceful here in America as they do in this Swiss village?
Think they ever can again?

Not on this current earth. Not until the New Heavens and New Earth. I can hardly wait.

Beautiful picture though.

I think all we can strive for is peace in our own hearts, but I agree with Faith that we will truly achieve it in Heaven.

Ah, Switzerland... the place where any invading army will have to cross blown up bridges to find the corpses of men with nice watches frozen in the mountains with "army" knifes that can open champagne bottles.

;)

Peace through superior firepower, yo. Mess with one, you mess with the whole trailer park.

Anonymous,
I agree with everything you said except for the crazy parts.

As a whole, America will never be a peaceful place. We are too polarized politically, and too much of a target for the world's nut cases.

That being said, you can find MANY relatively "peaceful" small towns all across America's heartland.

That's not to say that every home and every business and everything that goes on in these places is peaceful. But if you want to have a relatively peaceful lifestyle and live in relative safety, it can be done here.

As someone who has seen for several decades that attempts to FORCE “change” through POLITICAL ACTIVISM — i.e. trying to dictate terms to the ever-wayward human will unconscious of God — is an exercise in futility.

Our proper job is to study and pray ceaselessly to become ONE with the Christ Consciousness (Holy Spirit).

The only true power comes from God. We can of our own selves do nothing but spread suspicion, fear, misunderstanding and endless antagonism — “The Ghastly Farce of Material Existence.”

It is only by bringing our INDIVIDUAL conscious into harmony with Principle, Truth and Love that we can hope to be fulfilled, and then able to “Let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify Our Father which is in Heaven.”

Christ, who is God, who is the embodiment and perfect expression of Spirit, Intelligence, Love, Truth, Principle, Soul and Life, itself -- i.e. God is the ONLY life -- our only hope for Salvation.

Once we begin to realize that, we become changed (in tune with our true, spiritual nature), a change that brings peace to our hearts no matter what our material situation might be.

It is good to remember that "Divine Love always has and always will meet every human need."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's a wonderful thought, but I don't think it's possible in this world. Just because the goal is unobtainable, doesn't mean we should stop striving towards it.

"You know what the fellow said – in Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace – and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

In my lifetime and your lifetime?

No, I don't think so. Not in this country. The division between parties, on one hand, simply got wider by the man who CLAIMED he would be The Uniter; he has proven to be the opposite.

There are those terrorist influences who will not be happy until this country leaks radiation and plague; even then they will not be happy.

There are our own elements who will not be pleased until this country, an economic powerhouse, is brought down to its knees in their Cloward-Piven fashion.

So no, I don't believe that's possible at all.

The only happiness you can count on is within yourself, pushed by yourself, courted by yourself, and the influence you may have within a small circle of friends, family or associates.

The world is chaos, death, disorder. This country is targeted next for unrest.

Unfortunate but, in my opinion, very true.

I don't think we'll have peace anymore, either. We've allowed liberal Political Correctness to make us cower in the wake of terror and even ignore its ambitions just to be PC... and we're suffering the consequences.
The president is saying he's not spoken out against the terror attempt because he doesn't want to appear to be used for propoganda...ours or Al Qaeda's?
What's truly chilling is that they're now saying we're giving out so much information about what the guy did and how he could have prevented being caught that if terrorists are worth their salt, they're taking notes and improving as fast as Janet Napolitano's changing her mind about whether our system didn't fail or did.
Meanwhile, Obama's supposed to speak finally because of her gaffes, from what the journalists traveling with him just reported on CNN.

He sure has a hard time with TERROR, doesn't he? Must be very difficult as even he's starting to learn that every recent terror attempt or success is muslim.

Ducky, obviously, that dope never saw a real Swiss watch or ate there, TRUST me.

Hes, heaven on earth will be , literally, divine..but I wasn't quite aiming for that much peace in this post...just suggesting it would be nice if America weren't so polarized and we had a president who loved this country and us and we felt like we were erring on OUR side; it would be a great relief, at least to me, to know we're fighting for ourselves, putting ourselves first and fighting together against a common enemy of leftwing debauchery and socialism and the terrorism trying to take us down from outside.

Miss TC...it was just such a pretty picture, so peaceful, I had to use it; I'm sure there are just as lovely towns across America!

Mark Steyn, substituting for Rush today, came up with the bon mot of the week when he referred to our illustrious head of Homeland Security as "Janet Incompetento."

The wonderful thing about Steyn is his capacity to state the most appalling truths with energy, wit and unfailing good cheer.

Janet INCOMPETENTO!

BRAVO, Mark!

FT...good one. Steyn is terrific.
I'm sure the White House is reeling from the gaffe and it wasn't even Biden! imagine.
And now poor Obama will have to use the word TERROR. Let's see how he does.
Meanwhile, the world must be laughing their ***'s off at us...before the had respect and a little fear; now they seem to have nothing but disdain with Obama and America and the European and Canadian Conservative press is giving us more information
than our own is.
Amazing how quick our decline is...who'd have EVER thought it?

Nice place. Looks peaceful.

The sheeple will continue to give up liberty for perceived security.
However this will insure that we live in a highly controlled police state.

Maybe it will be more peaceful in a draconian way.

Peace. It was just a dream some of us had.

Anonymous - We are omnivores. God made us this way.

When you elevate the importance of animals as peers to humans, you devalue human life.

It's clear you are content with that perspective. It's also clear that the danger exists with your view, that the day will come, when you may condone euthanasia for humans, and abortion of innocent human life. In fact, you may now condone these procedures. Do you?

If you do, you're too far gone already.

As for me, a good filet mignon makes me feel downright peaceful.

BTW, is it too much to ask that you devise a user name so we can distinguish between Anonymous comments? Or is that too human for you?

Tio - Ditto!

Z - I think peace is unattainable for any protracted length of time. The human condition doesn't seem to lend itself to peace. If we don't fight over one thing we'll find a way to fight over another. It seems it's just the nature of humankind.

To me peace isn't merely the absence of conflict. Freedom is the guarantor of the peace of knowing we are in charge of our own actions, and our fate. I'll settle for that and hope and pray for the best.

Blov-Zep,
The Bible speaks of God giving us his peace, not of our generating peace from within ourselves. I believe the difference is more than semantic.

Lovely picture, and a gun in every home. The Swiss are a very well armed people, shooting is a national pasttime. They are a quiet and peaceful country, but I imagine they stand at the ready to defend themselves if necessary. Not a bad thing if you ask me.

Nice to feel that serene I imagine.

I'd rather be in America than in that Swiss Village.

Z said...

again, the Swiss Village was obviously a mistake for my blog image!!!!....let's say it's "Anywhere Good ol' USA"...and then please tell me if you think we'll ever have the peace we once had where we didn't have to worry about terrorism in our homeland, where people didn't admit so eagerly and proudly to debauched lives, where kids were safe on our streets, etc etc etc...

"please tell me if you think we'll ever have the peace we once had where we didn't have to worry about terrorism in our homeland, where people didn't admit so eagerly and proudly to debauched lives, where kids were safe on our streets, etc etc etc..."

Z - If our country somehow disdains multiculturalism and political correctness, and embraces once again the American melting pot, and if we allow God to become once again welcome in our society as a guide for our behavior, then I would say, there is a chance for what we seek.

These are big ifs. Remaining true to American ideals as seen through the eyes of our founders, I'm sorry to say, has become muddled through years of acceptance of unAmerican ideology for the sake of "not rocking the boat".

We all have allowed this to happen because we were finding success in our personal lives, living the good life, working hard, and not paying enough attention.

Too many have indulged their children with things, while working and gullibly buying into things like "quality time" beginning at six O'clock when getting home from work, the Women's movement, the sexual revolution, and the great "I am".

The "me generation" which has been devastating in terms of "me first", and to hell with responsiblity and accountability.

I think we're in for hard times, and then and only then, maybe we'll hold on more closely to what really matters, and gradually return to the American roots we long for.

As always anything worthwhile is worth fighting for. I can't think of anything more worthwhile than preserving our country for those who come after us. Our children and future generations.

So, if we can regain what once was, it will take time, and God's grace to see us through. I think we can't sit on the sidelines and wait for things to improve. We have to remain engaged, and involved. There are no easy answers. God help us, we're going to need it.

What you had in mind is clearer now. I think we are under God's judgment, and unless we repent -- which is really what Pris is describing -- we'll never be able to go back to that kind of American life. And I see no hope of repentance. There is too much determination to have the debauched life and regard it as a right and a freedom, even defend it as spelled out in the Constitution.

Faith, I think Dr Laura on the radio was right a few weeks ago...I heard her say that our soldiers are fighting for the rights of Americans and the First Amendment and that, today, who'd have thought they're fighting for people to flip others the finger while driving or swear at them or threaten..........
it's sick and so so sad. There's a thin line, a very thin line between freedom and tyranny and I think the far left's been counting on that. For instance, commercials that show men and women talking about sexual items for sale so blatantly at hours that kids see them....we can say we think that's sad and wrong (even I'm kind of shocked by some of the products being so blatantly discussed on television) but, if we do, we're old fashioned, trying to repress peoples' rights, etc.
That's unreal...ridiculous ...and VERY effective in turning our country into a kind of cesspool, in my opinion.
I don't watch sitcoms anymore, but the things I hear about story lines, etc., are incredible!! Just watch an old ROSEANNE some time and check out the asides about Christianity....look at her sister pregnant and displaying the whole works and Roseanne commenting about her belly button, etc etc....it's HILARIOUS, I do laugh I have to admit, but this and other shows really started a downward spiral. ALl In The Family's like a documentary against Conservatism, too...as if every Conservative is a racist, anti Semitic, idiot. Quite telling today to look back and see the roots of political correctness today.
