Reflections for 2009...by a DOWD?

Maureen Dowd introduces the super list below by her brother Kevin in this way:

As my brother Kevin headed off to Christmas Eve Mass in the Maryland suburbs, I asked him how he thought the first year of Barack Obama had gone.

He didn’t have to pray long over that one. “Fine,” he replied, “if you like unmitigated disasters like the Hindenburg and the Redskins season.” :-)

Here are Kevin Dowd's reflections for 2009 with a few comments by ME!:

To President Obama: Thank you for saving the Republican Party and for teaching all of us that too much of anything is a bad thing. (Z: Hurrah! even Republicans who left the party are coming back. Heck, even more Dem senators are coming to the Republican party)

To Bill Clinton: You did too much work on Northern Ireland for the Nobel committee. Next time, do nothing. (Z: heh!)

To Harry and Nancy: “The Twilight Zone” once had an episode where the town got the exact opposite of what it wanted. Farewell, Harry!

To John McCain: Thank you for your chivalry in banning Palin attack dogs — including my sister* — from the campaign plane. (Z: commenter "Impertinent" remembers that this list was written by Maureen Dowd's CONSERVATIVE brother/journalist...we think he means THAT sister...did you know she had a brilliant brother? heh heh)

To Sarah Palin: Keep up the good work. Anyone who annoys Keith Olbermann that much is a friend to all of us. (Z: one of my personal favorites...I used to get steamed watching that snarly little mouth of his as he indignantly and self-righteously swallows and spits out the Kool Aid...Now I have to admit I watch him for comic relief)

To Glenn Beck: Thanks for being the only journalist interested in stories that used to win Pulitzer Prizes. (Z: Best one on the list..so true, and so very scary..imagine if we had an honest media, they'd be all OVER Beck's findings and Americans would know the truth)

To Al Franken: So, 250 years of Senate tradition trashed. Stuart Smalley would have done better.

To DesirĂ©e Rogers: Get back to the gate. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson can’t get in.

To the Salahis: Thank you for showing us that shame has no bottom.

To Valerie Jarrett: So much for the Olympic Village in Chicago. Whoops. (Z: so few people know that truth...the media should be ashamed)

To Chris Dodd: The only thing lower than your polls is your mortgage interest rate.

To Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen: The military should be more interested in the men and women who serve than in celebrating diversity. (Z: Please, God)

To the Democratic senators: Go last next time; the bribes are much bigger.

To Sheldon Whitehouse: You, senator, are an idiot.

To Dick Cheney: You, sir, are a patriot. Thanks for firing back.

To President Bush: Thank you for your dignity. Did you really start the plague in the 14th century? Absence makes the heart grow fonder. (Z: Even I feel that way now)

To Hillary: Who knew how much you would be missed? (Z: Yup..even by me. A little, I must admit)

To Al Gore: A global warming conference in the middle of a Copenhagen blizzard is not a good visual. (Z: naaa...this is wrong, I LOVED the visual!!)

To Max Baucus, Eliot Spitzer and John Edwards: Party on, dudes.

To John Ensign, Mark Sanford and David Vitter: Don’t party on, dudes.

Z: Thanks, Impertinent, my friend. This was a fun list and fun to respond to! Fun to think Dowd has Conservative family! And okay, okay......sorry for the picture above...here's a more flattering one. For fairness' sake!

And thus the NYT's resident hack now gets paid for her brother's opinion.

Or, to go with MoDo style quote-splicing - "Kevin Dowd's sister is ... an idiot."

She looked better in your picture.

:-}

It was just so refreshing to know that in the Dowd house of cards....there was some sanity with Kevin's astute pronouncements. Normally I avoid Mo like I would a dog with fleas...but this was too good to pass up.

Unfortunately...we now have 51 more weeks of this rag hag to deal with. :-(

I'll keep my eyes open for ya... anytime Z...anytime.

She has complained about being the lone leftist in her family in several of her columns.

I remembered her mentioning this before, though I'm not sure how, since I make a habit of avoiding her columns of nonsense. I guess it's not that unusual her having right thinking conservative family members. I know I have more than a few libtards in my extended family tree that always drive me crazy at the holiday poker games. Thank goodness for timely alcohol consumption.

Z - I think this is great fun, and more truth than Maureen would like to admit. I guess we know which Dowd is still rebelling against her Mommy and Daddy.

Time to grow up Maureen.

I should cut her a little slack I guess. She must love her brother, or this list wouldn't have seen the light of day!

Any bets on how popular this end of year column is with readers... off the charts is my guess every year.

After an embarrassing four days of obfuscations and denials about the import of the terrorist attack on Northwest Flight 253 — including Press Secretary Robert Gibbs’ and Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano’s BS claim on the Sunday talk shows that the system was working perfectly — on Monday administration spokesmen tried to claim they meant that after the failed attack the system immediately took action by beefing up security. They also said that they responded at once by notifying all international airports as well as planes in the sky.

Finally, on Monday morning, President Barack Obama addressed the public from his vacation spot in Hawaii. The statement made by this president, however, inadvertently displayed the great problems with his approach towards the jihad waged by worldwide radical Islamist terrorists.
For Obama to actually call this killer an “isolated extremist” shows just how out of touch this guy really is. And with a fool like Janet Napolitano at the helm of Homeland Security, I’m already stocking up on supplies in my survival bunker. Please, this woman is the very definition of a “Man Made Disaster.” Her actions up till now only reinforce the impression that she is way over her head when it comes to fighting terrorism. Ladies and Gentlemen, please note that, thanks to the Obama administration, we have come full circle and we are back to the pre-9/11 mindset that treats all acts of terrorism as civil crimes. Only this time around, when the next major attack occurs on US soil, they won’t be able to say that they never could have anticipated anything like this happening in the United States. Then they’ll probably do what they do best, which is blame Bush for everything. How pathetic they ALLare.

Interesting! Maureen is such a twisted Moonbat you have to wonder how she got that way. Nice to know it ain't her entire family that's sipped the Leftist Kool-Aide.

Great list!

benning! Which blog do you suggest we start first at your site? You've got 10?!!

Malcontent...amen. Picture what would have happened to Bush had he waited 3 days to talk! I'm posting at 3pm EST about Obama v Bush on another subject but I think it applies.

Janelle...good point!

Pris...always excellently put. It is fun to see the Dowds are not ALL lost :-)

I'm rather embarrassed over the past year. Electing Obama was like losing the Super Bowl to the Detroit Lions.

But It Took Him Three Days To Respond To A Terrorist Attack

George W. Bush was sharply criticized when, on 9/11, he decided to allow a group of children to have a last few minutes of normalcy after being informed of the WTC attacks.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, waited three days before interrupting his vacation to talk to Americans about the Crotch-Bomber attack on Christmas Day.

However, we now know what will get the Obama's immediate attention and cause him to leave the golf course during his vacation.

President Obama has left a golf course abruptly while vacationing in Hawaii on Monday for a "personal matter," and an ambulance was seen speeding to the first family's compound.

CBS 2 has learned that the incident does not involve any member of the first family, and that a young family friend traveling with them has suffered a minor injury. Sources say a child friend was injured by a surfboard while playing on the beach, but no additional details on the injury were reported just yet.

Journalists when they returned to the secured neighborhood where Obama was staying saw an ambulance speed past with its lights on. The ambulance then left the neighborhood with a black sedan trailing.

After a brief delay, Obama returned to the course.

Isn't it good to know that our president has his priorities straight?

Glenn Beck's findings? None of those right wing radio morons have ever done investigative journalism.

Damn, the right is easily distracted.

Z said...

Ducky, who's the MORON here?
YOu ever seen the things he's exposed with facts and figures that are irrefutable. I wouldn't get too high and mighty were I you. Do some investigation, even you'd be shocked...and maybe even a bit scared if you opened your mind to the truth.

Odd CNN hadn't mentioned that two of those behind this latest terror attempt were guys let go from Gitmo...FOX had it right away. I'd have thought Americans might want to know that but I guess it goes against CNN's "CLOSE GITMO NOW" cause, eh?

spacemonkey..excellent comment; i hope you've seen my Obama piece above this by now. I haven't seen the responses yet as this page was open on my computer when I got home from about 4 hours away...will go now. You make the point well

"Glenn Beck's findings? None of those right wing radio morons have ever done investigative journalism."

Ducky, c'mon, you don't listen to or watch Glenn Beck.

Actually no one has refuted what Beck has been reporting. In fact, it's pretty tough to argue against videos of the very people saying the very things, Beck's reporting.

None of this is a secret. It seems far left radicals are quite smitten with themselves, and never miss a chance to spill their guts to anyone who'll listen, or trains a video camera at him/her.

The msm get's scooped every day, but they're so in the tank for Obama, or looking for material for some scandal to discredit Palin, or some other right thinking politician, they don't know what investigative reporting is.

Pris, apparently, Beck's got some red phone sitting there waiting for the WH to call disputing ANYTHING he's said, ANY fact he's come up with. So far, nothing. One COULD say they;re ignoring him, that it's beneath the dignity of any president...but this WH is so PR savvy it would be a TOTAL COUP to give in and have a rebuttal...nada. Never happen.

This list by Dowd's brother said it SO WELL; What would have won a Pulitzer is ignored by this leftwing media. astonishing.

Well, Moron Dudd's specialty has always been to castigate, chastise and lampoon prominent people with a bitter sarcasm that passes for wit -- at times.

She is, apparently, an Equal Opportunity Debunker. In other words she hates EVERYONE in power.

BUT, even I, who have despised her poison pen for years, feel after reading this delicious portion of well-cooked tripe that Moron Dudd's IQ appears to have made considerable gains.

Amazing for one of such advanced years!

MEEEEAOW!

Z said...

FT...you do realize it's her brother who wrote that. (she's still a moron :-)

Anonymous said...

Z - Yes, Beck does have a red phone sitting there next to him.

The thing is, Beck back's so much up with videos and quotes from writings of these people, with especially the czars in this administration. There they are on video expounding on their far left beliefs, and goals.

He produces so much evidence to back up his positions, it's difficult to refute what he reports.

So, people like Ducky are reduced to calling him a moron. He can't refute what is so obvious.

You know, the old saying, "if you can't argue the facts pound the table". So far, when it come to Beck, they're "pounding the table".

during the 2004 election the msm was pounding this and ignoring the fact that John Kerry, upon hearing about 9/11 said that he sat down for at least a half hour in stunned disbelief.

I actually liked the more unflattering pic!

This is a kewl post, I think I have to identify with Kevin a bit. I bought my liberal bro a copy of Ron Paul's "End the Fed" for Christmas and might well have been disowned expect I also included a home made sugar cream pie with the "gift" (his favorite!). The things we must do to keep from being disowned by liberal siblings!

WHOOPS!

I read the column but missed the authorship.

I had no idea Mo Dodo had a brother. I've often wondered in fact whether she really is human.

I must've read into this piece what I so wanted to believe.

Sorry!

Glenn Beck tells the truth -- as he understands it -- and I think he's making a valuable contribution, BUT he destroys a great deal of his own credibility with his hyper-emotional, nakedly MANIC approach.

He really does come across as a terrible ham actor, a clown and a bit of a nutcase. A shame, because the information he shares and the points he tries to make are so worthwhile.

Tone DOWN, Glenn, before you suffer a stroke on the air!

FT..the problem with Conservatives is their passion for America and that it shows.
You ever seen Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow with their tight little squeezed lips of self righteous indignation? It's quite a difference, the Left v Right.
Glenn Beck, like Ann Coulter, is almost ALWAYS right, if politically INcorrect, but their passion and their intelligence almost get in the way :-(
