A sign of the TIMES.........

BEN BERNANKE is TIME'S PERSON OF THE YEAR........ READ the "whole" story HERE, but make sure you note this quote from the article:
Professor Bernanke of Princeton was a leading scholar of the Great Depression. He knew how the passive Fed of the 1930s helped create the calamity — through its stubborn refusal to expand the money supply and its tragic lack of imagination and experimentation.

Do you all know how many economic experts say the Great Depression's depth and severity could have been diverted had FDR NOT thrown good money after bad? Does TIME read or are they, too, so ideological that nothing sinks in? Pelosi was on the short list, too. No agenda.....no.

I'm just glad you're keeping track of all this stuff, Z, 'cause I just don't keep up with things any more except at your blog. Thanks.

Long ago (when I heard Walter Cronkite bragging that he had helped end the war in Vietnam) I came to the realization that the MSM is the 4th branch of our government. They say & do whatever they want because they can.

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to the internet.

It's official. We have most certainly entered into The Twilight Zone.

Well, in the spirit of TIME magazine and their list of awesome people, allow me to nominate Kevin Jennings, Obama's Safe Schools Czar, as the best role model for teenage boys nationwide.

(It's called sarcasm, people.)

Long Live the Republic.

Faith, that's a high compliment and another good reason to keep blogging, thanks so much.

Cube...only when the MSM is in the bag for that government, right?

Mr. Borsch, glad to have you here....Yes, what the heck's wrong for a guy who's gay and teaches deviant sexual practices to 14 yr olds in our public schools!!

One of us should say what that practice IS, and I DID say it a few blogs down, only because people need to get roughed up enough to WAKE UP!!)

Remember when this mamaluc was telling people that "even though the housing market is weak the economy is sound. The American economy is flexible and doesn't face a serious threat."

No, and neither do you because it is accepted that by trying to balance the Federal budget FDR delayed the end of the depression.

Two nations came out of the depression quickly.

One used the war economy to boom up, Germany.

Sweden was the first to come out of their depression and they used deficit spending and doctrinaire Keynesian economics.

I don't mean to be harsh, z, but the far right is often not aware that they constantly repeat stuff that they pull out of the air as fact. Remember, we on the left are here to help.

I was shocked that it wasn't Tiger Woods, knowing Time Magazine

Malcontent,

Dang, why didn't I think of that? Tiger would have been perfect! Maybe we'll see him do a cameo when Sports Illustrated does their annual Swimsuit Issue.

The Australian has no agenda, z?

It is well established as a right wing pro business publication. A lot less of an agenda than the Cato institute but hardly "no agenda".

Ducky's here said...

... this administration has an agenda. It's been voiced in the past by people like Larry Summers, Bernanke et. al. and it involves reform all right.
Reform of social security and medicare as a means to control the deficit.

So President Dipstick makes sure a worthless "health care reform" bill is passed that changes very little so he can go on about financing the Wall Street debacle by doing a little entitlement reform.

If conservatives had a brain, which is rare, they would be doing everything in their power to subtlety get behind this guy because he is your damn wet dream.

You have no idea what is happening, do you?

Coincidentally, I am watching Glen Beck as I read this. He is talking about Time magazine 'man of the year.'

Another interesting point that he makes is about the memorable pictures of the year. No pictures of any popular conservative demonstrations held in Washington, and elsewhere, this year. There were pictures of a dust storm, a house with a moss floor, and a koala bear with an IV.

He goes on to mention the huge media coverage of Cindy Sheehan when she showed up in Crawford, Texas, with forty demonstrators. Thousands in D.C. rate no mention. Forty in Crawford, earth shattering.

Z said...

Ducky.."Harsh?" No, you just sound dumb. You completely made my point.
FDR's spending delayed the end of the depression...a good thing. thanks.

And please stop! How stupid...we disagree with you so we're demeaned? What is WITH YOU?

Guess what, Conservatives can be right! I hate to break that to you but your hubris is getting , no offense, almost repulsive.

Z said...

BUBBA...that is amazing. And you absolutely prove what I've been trying to say.
They cannot accept ANYTHING that's not leftwing BS, can they.

Ya, I'd have THOUGHT the huge tea parties all over this country, growing by the week, MIGHT have got some attention! But.....naaa

Leftwingers have their heads in the sand so tightly that it's easier and easier to kick what's left in the air... Except that they've indoctrinated our kids so badly, we might have escaped this nightmare...I think it's too late to rise above such incredible partisanship in the media and our schools...not a good combination. Unethical and unAmerica, matter of fact. Who can't see that?

And they whine because we are demanding people return to the Constitution. Well, that'll be changed soon, too, I suppose.

Thanks for this comment; it hurts to contemplate how lost and unethical our media is, but it is what it is.

Big Bubba said...

Z, why should the status of our media cause anyone to "hurt" for any reason. We have choices. I have not read Time, Newsweek, et al for years. It has been over 8 years since I have read the local Hearst rag. I could care less what the NYTs or LATs have to say about anything.

The bottom line is I don't believe that I am any less informed by my choices. I say good riddance. All they ever did for me was aggravate with their ignorance.

BTW, I don't know if I ever mentioned it to you that my father was in the Air Force Security Service. At the time of the Cuban missle crisis my Father was serving at AFSS Hqs here in San Antonio. I had just turned 17 at the time. Dad often made a few comments about the crisis, but, he famously summed it up to me by saying "don't believe everything you read in the papers." Words that have served me well for over forty years

Z said...

Your Dad was a bright man, obviously, Bubba....
It hurts me because SO MANY Americans hear the crap and VOTE according to what they hear.
People STILL think Bush stupidly and with abandon cheered Freddie and Fannie giving loans to non deserving buyers when he was WARNING and nobody listened.

They still think that because only the Conservative media remembers his attempts at stopping the whole thing...and the media's never mentioned that the Freddie Mac guy, Daniel Mudd I think?, was at the Black National Caucus (Obama was there) looking like a scared rabbit promising EVERYBODY WILL HAVE A HOUSE! That's the far left speaking!!!!!! And the far left LOVING IT.

I hurt for America when we have a media which is more like the LEFTWING SIDE of the OPINION PAGE on the FRONT PAGES..it's not good. It's deceitful and dishonest and dangerous.

Big Bubba said...

As far as I know I had only one cousin (female) who voted for Obama. The family, including me, hammered her for months with facts and opinion to no avail. Media, to be sure, is a significant point of influence, however, not the only.

At one point she got so mad I backed off thinking I may never hear from her again. She did cool down. Now all of her e-mails seem to indicate she no longer supports Barack Hussein. Now isn't that a surprise?

I seriously laughed out loud when I heard this on the radio today on the way to work. But take a look at the title of the magazine again: Time magazine --hasn't been legit for a long time now.

Ducky... thanks so much for adding such 'class' to the comment section. Sheesh.

Time did name Adolph Hitler man of the year in 1939.

Isn’t it uncanny how similar looking Bernanke and Lenin are?

Mr. Bernanke’s recognition seems consistent with Time’s men/persons of the year in 1938, 1939, 1941, 1957, 1958, 1964, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1985, and 2007. Now whenever a leftist like Bernanke … you know, the “compassionate conservatives” are able to dupe moderate to right-wing voters (thanks to our public education system), people like Ducky become so giddy they are apt to wet themselves. That’s why I recommend everyone invest in Depends.

Typically, Ducky is full of mush when it comes to what a great savior FDR was. One thing and only one thing saved America from total collapse and anarchy (which the reds were hoping for): war with the Axis powers. FDR wanted Japan to attack us so bad he almost couldn’t stand it. FDR didn’t do one intelligent thing to help America recover from the stock market collapse, not one thing.

Has anyone noticed how similar Bernanke and Lenin look?

Z,
If you want some holiday reading about FDR and his role in the extending and worsening the depression, try "New Deal or Raw Deal" by Burton Folsom Jr.

It's a good read and educational about the New Deal and FDR's fascist tactics to keep power. It's so simple even we stupid conservatives can understand it.

Mustang,
How did the war get us out of the depression?

tio

Z said...

tio, that's pretty established fact; the war machine and all the gearing up put a lot of money into steel companies, construction, etc etc..no?

Anonymous said...

Z,
I think the Keynsians would have us believe that the government spending on war machinations stimulated the economy. If we can fix the economy by spending on war, why can't we fix the economy by spending on wind farms, thermal energy, and park restorations?

Per the Thomas Sowell / Walter Williams school of thought, what changed was the President's focus. During the 30's, the emphasis was on the economy: giving blue eagle symbols to certain companies, prosecuting people for charging too little, &c. Once the war began, the focus was on winning the war. The government no longer had the time and resources to stiffle the economy.

I'm sorry I don't have statistics to cite. If Ducky denies everything I've said and calls me stupid, will you accept that in lieu of stats as defense of my position?

tio

Z said...

Accepted, tio (that's hilarious, by the way, as usual)

You make a good point about 'if we could stimulate the economy thru war, why not the GREENING of America..' You're right, that won't happen.

All I want after the GREENING is finally put to rest is my lightbulbs back!

It may be a minor point in this particular discussion, but I was shocked that Tiger Woods was named "Athlete of the Decade" by Time, while Lance Armstrong -- a TRULY heroic figure as well as one of the greatest athletes in history -- came in second.

Hate to say it out loud, but I'll bet that happened because Lance Armstrong is Caucasian.

There's a definite bias AGAINST Caucasians thee days -- men especially. I know it's the "Progressive's" idea of artificially creating "equity," because White Men happen to have have pioneered, excelled and made most of the greatest advances and achievements in Civilization for many bloody-but-still-glorious centuries, while other groups have remained in a relatively primitive state and struggled along in misery for mere survival.

It's the current fashion to think that Caucasians should feel GUILTY for historically showing greater initiative and creativity and having produced finer accomplishments than any other group.

Z, thanks. I miss you guys also. I worked longer hours that summer than I ever have. Sometimes church can feel like another obligation on a busy schedule, but going to church and Wed. night Bible Study was kind of an oasis for me that year: Leave the cell phone in the car, and if someone needs me to do something during that time, too bad.

I need to find an excuse to get sent out there again (temporarily).

Interesting.
No one mentions that the fed is an illegal corrupt creation of elite banksters.
The dollar has devalued 96% since these creatures from Jekyll island scammed the American people with this ponzi type fiat monitary system.

Woodrow Wilson lamented this horrible mistake near the end of his life. Passed like nafta while opposition was on Christmas vacation.

Audit the fed. End the fed.

bernenke should be in jail along with geithner, greenspan, paulsen and the crew at goldman sachs.

Thank God for the brave and perspicuous Ron Paul.
These cretins have stolen trillions from the American people and all we can think about is tiger woods, paris's dog and sports.
