ENVIRONMENTALISM A FRAUD?

Check out this article from HERE:

Ottmar Edenhofer is one of the leaders of the international global warming movement: he is the deputy director and chief economist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the joint chair of the IPCC's Working Group 3, and will co-chair the Working Group "Mitigation of Climate Change" at the upcoming summit in Cancun. On November 14, he was interviewed by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. His explanation of the current goals of the climate change movement was illuminating:
The new thing about your proposal for a Global Deal is the stress on the importance of development policy for climate policy. Until now, many think of aid when they hear development policies.
That will change immediately if global emission rights are distributed. If this happens, on a per capita basis, then Africa will be the big winner, and huge amounts of money will flow there. This will have enormous implications for development policy. And it will raise the question if these countries can deal responsibly with so much money at all.
That does not sound anymore like the climate policy that we know.
Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization. The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War. Why? Because we have 11,000 gigatons of carbon in the coal reserves in the soil under our feet - and we must emit only 400 gigatons in the atmosphere if we want to keep the 2-degree target. 11 000 to 400 - there is no getting around the fact that most of the fossil reserves must remain in the soil.
De facto, this means an expropriation of the countries with natural resources. This leads to a very different development from that which has been triggered by development policy.
First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.

Someone named "John" posted that over at Power Line, I've added the red..........thanks, John.

I think some environmentalist do care genuinely about the health of the planet whereas some saw the opportunity to use it as a way to redistribute wealth across nation or apply socialist policies.

Now the state of science is another issue. Climatology, unlike medicine, is a new science for which statistical analysis has been suffering from very young data and misleading one, and the inability to take other factors into account (universe, position of planets, sun activity, axis of the earth, activity of the earth aka earthquakes, volcano, etc...)

FB, we, too, care genuinely about the health of the planet, at least I do.

Pouring money into corrupt African nations will accomplish three things:

1. Make the distributors poorer
2. Make the corrupt receiving governments richer
3. Make liberals confounded

If--and it's a big if--man is causing global warming, it these kinds of things will do nothing to stop it.

World peace would be easier and less grander of a goal than changing the planet's temperature. Yet we see how that has gone.

Not too many years ago we were going to go into another Ice Age. Wha' hoppen?!? HMMM? When are they going to decide to stop the natural wobble of the planet on its axis? The next project for the Gore-ites.

It has never been about the environment since Sir Nicholas Stern, an economist from the Word Bank introduced the concept of Carbon Credits. The IMF, the UN etc all jumped at this opportunity to redistribute the worlds wealth since other attempts had failed.

Silverlady , the cure for the ice age that was predicted in the 70's was coal dust or ash dust to be scattered on the ice and snow that we would have in abundance. NY would be like Greenland and NC like northern NY etc. Well, there was not much market for used ash nor coal dust so the "snake oil" salesman, the forerunners of the Left Rev. Gore were out of business. When carbon credits came along, VIOLA, nothing to actually see or handle and the Snake oil salesman came out of the woodwork. Among the first was the Left Rev Gore. Those who feel for his scheme are said to have been Sternly Gored.

I didn't say you didn't, Z. I do too. But I want science to be serious when it comes to it. I remember too well the ozone issue in the 80s. And now they say it's not big enough. It shows climatology is still young and yet they want to create social and economic policies based on that. It's one thing to ban products that can be replaced with something else like a spray. It's another thing to revamp the whole exchange of products and services because of carbon.

If carbon is an issue, then the next step is to tax people according to their own emission. Including consumption-based emission and body-based emission.

Also we all know too well it's all about money. This carbon stock exchange in Chicago was very interesting to Enron. And Gore wasn't ashamed to work with them back then.

The best thing ever to happen to Al Gore … beyond his massage in a west coast hotel was his loss to George Bush —for it was in the following period that Al Gore made millions 100 times over. Moreover, he did it by capitalizing on the fear associated with so-called global warming. Now, given his investment in the enviro-nazi movement, if the US decides to give away its wealth to 4th world crap holes, Gore makes money. Let me be clear about his: he needs that money to heat his several mansions, propel his several Cadillac Escalades, and fuel his jets and yachts. For the rest of us, we can just go piss off.

Yes, the environmental movement is a fraud. Michael Creighton wrote an excellent novel about this, called State of Fear. When we are no longer afraid of the Russians, or the Chinese Communists, then the government will make us afraid of freezing to death, or terrorists. We should be good stewards of our planet, but we should never allow Al Gore or those other leftist nincompoops (who need to believe in something fictional) to frighten us. If we need to be frightened, just think of real possibilities, such as a meteor slamming into the earth. In that case, we won’t need to worry about Social Security or health care costs. And Al Gore’s hundreds of millions of dollars won’t save his dumb ass.

It never did have anything to do with environmental policy. That's a vehicle to sell people the idea that we have to do with less in terms of energy, etc. to "save the planet". What a load of crap!

Co2 is not a pollutant! Life on earth couldn't exist without it.

The whole thing is a fraud. It's bogus. It's being used to create fear, and to make us dependent on the government for everything. This is the plan and the vehicle being used to lead to one world government.

This has to do with the power elites' goal to redistribute the wealth of successful economies as if it's a zero sum game.

Well, it isn't. There isn't one pie to slice up into even portions. Just let them bake more pies. It's as simple as that. If the countries in a continent like Africa don't want to bake their own, that's up to them.

Africa is rich with natural resources, and if their countries weren't led by tyrants and despots, they'd be competetive in the world.

We are the ones who will lose the most, because we have the most. And why is that? Because of our capitalist system, that's why. That, freedom, hard work, and individual responsibilty.

The problem in some parts of the world is, they have resisted our system, and as far as I'm concerned, if that's what they want, they can have it.

America and the West have provided a model for success to be followed. Our forbears carved out what was needed to succeed as a people. If now, we are complacent, we will lose it all, for what? For nothing.

Tribalism will still exist, caste systems will still exist, wars will still exist, human biases will still exist, and dependency will be the order of the day.

For me, I won't sign on to this, and I won't sacrifice my children for it. All for the power brokers in the world to fulfill a dream that can never come to fruition.

And at what cost my friends, at what cost.

C02 is what leftists emit when they talk out of their rear end. It is a strong pollutant in that very specific case. They should be tax for idiocy-based emissions.

Nothing less that an open admission that the Green left is really just the Red left.

Like watermelons. Green on the outside, Red on the inside.

Just another dialectical materialist trying to convince you that a turd is a candy bar.

"Africa is rich with natural resources, and if their countries weren't led by tyrants and despots, they'd be competetive in the world."

It's not the tyrants and "despots" necessarily. It's the ability of their "leaders" ( thieves no better than Sharpton, Waters or Jackson ) that understand the simple minds of their...populace.

One only has to look to Haiti to see a microcosm of ignorance, tribalism, stupidity, chaos and a complete inability to enter the 21st Century.

And who's to blame? The US? For dumping billions into a 3rd world sewer that can't fathom a wheel barrow? Or into Africa that insists AIDs can be cured from sex with infants? Or into South Africa that one time had been a bastion of capitalism, wealth, success and productivity? Only to realize that the collective farming has seen a failure rate of over 90%?

That the mines that once produced the finest diamonds and gold in the world...now have been ( Thanks Mandela ) reduced SA to begging for the IMF handouts. Some progress that the continent of Africa has achieved since it's..."liberation". From prosperity to gasoline"necklaces". From Rhodesian farmers...to genocide and to starvation.

Or into Somalia...which hasn't had a functioning civilized government since 1991?

When does the civilized world stop throwing it's resources and aid down a rat hole to savages who haven't the ability to understand how to use a screwdriver?

We all know the answer. For a couple hundred years Africa prospered under colonial rule. Why is it such a total, complete failure now?

Please...stifle the PC. It's the 21st century and no amount of excuses can legitimize the insanity of Africans or Africa.

It will always be a useless, dependent, scar and a blight on the overall progress of mankind.

God put Africa here to keep us humble. Humlility yes...but not abject stupidity.

The truth really hurts...all of us. And no matter what we send in the form of aid to Africa...it will always be a shithole until we bring back some semblance of colonial, civilized rule.

But please...keep donating when you see Sally Struthers on your TV asking for 19.99 a month.

I don't think it's an African / racial thing.

Leftism doesn't work out for anybody on the planet, regardless of skin color.

The enviro-whacko movement is just another tired attempt by leftists to impose their failed ideologies on the world.

"Leftism doesn't work out for anybody on the planet, regardless of skin color."

With all due respect...do you think they know the difference? Do you think ( like we do ) that they realize left or right? Commie or Capitalist?

See...that's our problem here in a civilized, successful forward thinking and moving society like the US.

We...don't understand or fathom the sucidal choices that they make. Just like we don't think like the terrorist, islamist savages bent on murder and hate. We continue to walk around muttering..."why do they do that? Why don't they like us? Why are they like this?

I and millions of others understand why.

And billions in aid...won't cure it. Nor will genetics.

Well, the left vs. right divide is typically communism vs. capitalism, or collectivism vs. individualism. You could sum it up with totalitarianism vs. libertarianism. Everything else flows out from those two taps.

As for what they realize, I think they see "guns in their faces" held by their totalitarian leaders. Their leaders themselves are leftists.

Every African I've met that immigrated to America has become successful through his own hard work.

We...don't understand or fathom the sucidal choices that they make. Just like we don't think like the terrorist, islamist savages bent on murder and hate. We continue to walk around muttering..."why do they do that? Why don't they like us? Why are they like this?

I do too. It probably doesn't help that French planes airlift weapons to the Mutaween terrorists in the Sudan, or armed the Rwandan genocidalists.

And billions in aid...won't cure it. Nor will genetics.

What does genetics have to do with anything?

If you're trying to reduce yourself to racism as an ideology, you're far more left-wing than I.

Anonymous, you say "But please...keep donating when you see Sally Struthers on your TV asking for 19.99 a month." But, at least that's personal giving, a choice, and it might help the people...they ARE people, Anonymous.

I, too, believe that Africa's in very bad shape...particularly since Mandela, frankly. And Mugabe, etc etc.....but one can't let the people suffer because of their 'rulers'.

Sadly, those African youth who get out and get educated somehow don't go back, by and large; "brain drain" is what it's called, right? it.."How're you gonna keep them down on the farm after they see Pareee?" And, boy, do they see Paris and do they have the silk suits and limousines; I lived one block from THE fanciest Embassy Row probably in the world and the African embassies of starving countries were the biggest, most palatial. It was very sad to see.

They need to get people in there who know what they're doing and slowly train the people......Apartheid was a good thing; nobody likes to see people separated by color, the motivation was brilliant, the results, not so much.
Johannesburg and Capetown were gorgeous cities where one could walk in the dark at night.......you absolutely can't walk after dusk in Johannesburg anymore. Absolutely not, it's treacherous.
Then you have African ministers (more close to the Scripture than many of our nutty "Change the Word of God to fit the 21st century" dopes who're their 'bosses' in England) who are fighting AIDS in their communities and running large orphanages for AIDS-orphaned (and sometimes infected themselves) orphans, only to hear their 'leaders' in the Episcopalian church encourage them to embrace homosexuality, "Don't let it be a stigma", imagine the mixed message?

Africa is a total mess and I don't see a way out but it's not letting the people themselves starve.

We must state clearly that the west is so corrupt that it isn't going to redistribute anything.

What may happen in Cancun is a beginning of the discussion of who is going to pay the price for the damage caused by climate change and how we live with it. It simply isn't possible to replace hydrocarbons in sufficient quantity at our rate of utilization.

So we can get up front about it and just tell everyone to screw off because we are going to drive, baby, drive. And we ain't rethinking anything, it's our right as an exceptional nation.

Don't get me wrong. To a man, they're all significantly less intellectual than most bowls of instant mashed potatoes.

So, please don't slander or libel me with the view that I actually believe thinking occured in Ducky's mind when he said "...who is going to pay the price for the damage caused by climate change..."

What I really want to know is if Ducky was trying to promote the fact that he's an idiot beyond the usual course of merely admitting he's a leftist, or if he could provide a catalog listing of "damage caused by climate change" to be examined for merit.

I've got my bet on "Ducky makes an ass of himself or doesn't show up at all."

Z, what happened when we went into Somalia to bring food and to help the Somali people?
We ended up having our guys killed and their bodies dragged through the streets.

Zimbabwe was once called the jewel of the Nile, because of their agriculture. Then, Mugabe drove out the Dutch farmers killing some, whose families had been there for generations.

Those who tried to farm, failed, or became disinterested.
Zimbabwe today, is a mess. Mugabe of course is living large in the midst of poverty all around him.

I think it's sad too, but it isn't as though efforts haven't been made to help those people.

But when we're expected to give up what we have for people who can't, or won't help themselves, it's a lose, lose, proposition.

I posted about these leeches in Cancun as well, and make no mistake folks, if they get their way, a lot of scumbags around the world will get rich and you will be left holding the tab.

Ducky, I got it...obviously, I gave a little sarcasm back.

Pris, my comment includes only personal giving; THAT isn't State giving, it's not the government giving to Africa.
Uganda was privately funded by people at my friend's church, Struthers' pleas are for private giving, my friend in Kenya who I featured a few weeks ago is all private foundation money.
I still believe in doing that...
the Kenyan story shows people DO want to help themselves; the first thing Jake told me was "but my foundation doesn't give everything away, we help people learn how to take care of themselves.." I admire that.
I know a missionary in Zimbabwe, Mugabe NEVER allows anyone to become successful there..it's all about him. He even announces vacation for everyone then closes the gas stations so they can't leave......nobody farms and gets disinterested because they're lazy, they don't farm because Mugabe will take it away, anyway.
I do not admire giving millions away to pad African dictator's Swiss bank accounts.

MK...we always end up paying the tab. I"m surprised we're not paying for Ireland's 'recovery'. Man, remember before they entered the EU, how absolutely wildly successful Ireland was? I can't believe what's happened and how quickly.

AOW, let us know what he says

God, another moronic statement.

That's true African countries are not corrupt at all. They take Western aid and redistribute it to their people.

Where have you been, highschooler? We have corruption but it's not comparable to those countries. Even corruption is a lot more prevalent in France.

See it comes with prosperity and the level of economic freedom vs. statism.

Socialism and marxism leads to greater corruption. It's a fact. Deal with it. And come back to us with smarter statements.

With 14000 "environmental delegates" hitting the beaches of Cancun to save the planet, now we find out that China and Canada are considered pariahs, because China refuse to "save the planet" by cutting back on emissions and Canada landed on the list because it didn't sign the Kyoto Protocol.

Ruffling leftist feathers seems to be an everyday occurence with this the evolving of Chinese communism into , er ah, ... "State Capitalism". It's hard to keep track of all the euphemisms.

Beyond Kyoto

"And cleaning up China is a difficult but necessary step the international community must take if it hopes to halt climate change. As the chief economist of the International Energy Agency recently pointed out, if the EU were to increase its planned emissions cuts between now and 2020 from its current commitment of 20 percent to its aspirational goal of 30 percent, that reduction would only be “roughly equal China’s two-week gas output.” That’s why it’s important for negotiators in Cancun to move beyond the ineffective and soon-to-be expiring Kyoto Protocol and work to strengthen the accords the US helped force the Chinese to agree to in Copenhagen.

“The Kyoto Protocol was legally binding, yet Canada has grossly violated it without penalty; China, meanwhile, has technically adhered to the protocol, but only because it required nothing of Beijing,” Levi of CFR explains. “There is no reason to assume that a wise political deal cannot be more effective than an unambitious but legally binding one.”
