THANKS to SQUANTO.... you were a blessing

SQUANTO's story is HERE, with a bit more good information HERE.........but the real story is as I've outlined below:

An Indian on North American shores, in 1614, was kidnapped and taken to England.  What are the chances?
This Indian learns English there.  What are the chances?
This Indian gets taken back to North America. What are the chances?
This Indian goes back to his homeland area where Pilgrims are almost dead from a bad winter and on the verge of dying off and need help from someone who understands the land and speaks their language..  What are the chances?
This Indian helps them survive by teaching them, in English, how to survive, grow corn, etc. What are the chances?

The chances just might be blessings, divine providence.  Imagine how much the Pilgrims needed Squanto just to survive?  Who else could have helped them?  How could this whole chain of events in Squanto's life have worked so perfectly for America?

This is from Wikipedia:
Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. It is sometimes casually referred to as Turkey Day.

And, here is one of the only two primary sources for the events of Autumn 1621 in Plymouth, a letter written by Edward Winslow:

"Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together, after we had gathered the fruits of our labors; they four in one day killed as much fowl, as with a little help beside, served the Company almost a week, at which time amongst other Recreations, we exercised our Arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and amongst the rest their greatest kind Massasoit, with some  ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five Deer, which they brought to the Plantation and bestowed on our Governor, and upon the Captain and others.  And although it be not always so plentiful, as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want, that we often wish you partakers of our plenty."

So, today in modern America, Wikipedia tells us it "MAY" have been religious in origin....but there is no 'may' about it, no writings anywhere suggest that!..  It was all about GOD, thanking GOD, and the more we thank, the more He seems to supply, even today!....but, sadly, today we're so cool it's become TURKEY DAY....Yes, Wikipedia, it's "a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest"...to whom?  To the corn stalks?  Ah, well.....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL GEEEEZ READERS.......I wish you a very beautiful day of thanksgiving.to God, or to the corn stalks, which ever you feel moved to do.  I'll be thanking God for this great country, for my family, friends, and all of you cyberspace friends so many of whom I've come to have really great affection and respect for.  (And I'll be eating great food, I hope you do, too!) By the way, I'm very thankful to all of you who support this blog, too. I really, really appreciate you all.

God bless you all, and GOD BLESS AMERICA.............

A blessed Thanksgiving to you, Z.

Yesterday, I managed to get my head together late enough in the day to make some blog rounds and found this excellent Thanksgiving post at Paladin's Page. Check it out.

Also, Mike's America points out that Thanksgivings in the past celebrated capitalism and actually repudiated socialism.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you Z, and everyone who comes here.

I think America is the result of Divine Providence. Since this day was set aside to give thanks, I can't imagine to whom other than God, we would be giving our thanks to.

We have been truly blessed to live in this great country.
I wish a wonderful day to you all.

God bless America.

Thanksgiving is a uniquely American Christian holiday.

The Pilgrims and the Indians met and gave thanks, not to the Indians, and not to the Americans but to, and only to, God.

That is what they did, regardless of the tireless efforts of the liberal/progressives to pretend that it never happened.

So, I thank God for His wonderful blessings.

I don't know who the liberal/progressives thank. They won't give God thanks, and Squanto isn't around any more.

You'd think people with a molecule of brain cell could figure it out.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We appreciate you, too, Z.

thanks, Brooke...hug your family from me!

Joe "The Pilgrims and the Indians met and gave thanks, not to the Indians, and not to the Americans but to, and only to, God." It boggles the mind that many children are apparently taught that the pilgrims bowed their heads in thanks to all the indians....wow. Think of the theology; how far off can people be to make a point?
But don't let that quote of yours get around or we won't have a Thanksgiving anymore :-)
thanks,Joe..have a beautiful day.

they tried the collective way, nearly starved to death. Only after giving each a plot of their own did the bounty come, so much so that they had more food then they needed, started trading and made so much money it enticed others to move to the colonies.

Elbro, that says a lot, doesn't it. maybe if we get back to those methods, America will be back on her feet again!

Off to a Thanksgiving Service.....enjoy your day!
see you soon.

Sounds pretty multicultural to me.

Ducky, I think it's really sad, that even today, you can't get out of your anti American mode.

What do you say with your family? Happy multicultural day?

But, I'm going to wish you this anyway. Happy Thanksgiving.

anonymous...thanks.
I'm too busy celebrating the good things about the Pilgrims to read the link for too long. Actually, the writer's quite wrong about most of the Pilgrims (I think he has it confused with Australia's brit immigrants!) because there were very good men amongst them, that's just a fact and our kids do deserve to know that.
What a sad world of people who'd discount this blog post of mine.
If it isn't GOd's providence that put Squanto just where he was when he was, it's a HELL of a miracle.

I'd love to get into a conversation about this here...

When somebody comes along with a nasty leftist revisionist history like that, you have to ask what are their sources or did they just make it up off the top of their leftist head? What ARE their sources, their ORIGINAL sources, writings from that time?

Squanto's presence was God's providence of course. It's God providing help for those who love him. He also takes care of those who don't love him, but they wouldn't recognize his providence if he materialized a table full of goodies out of the blue before their eyes, they'd just assume they had a hallucination and forget about it.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims DID thank God and so should we.

Shadow, thanks...

and "Amen" to that sad link....suddenly, supposed news pops up about Pilgrims that's never been known before and the left's now an expert :-)

THERE IS NO WAY an Indian would have gone to Europe, then learned English and come back JUST when he was so sorely needed by Europeans in America.....my gosh.

I just GOogled something and check out what I found:
"American Indian peoples, Europeans, and other cultures around the world often celebrated the harvest season with feasts to offer thanks to higher powers for their sustenance and survival."

Today, it's "HIGHER POWERS" :-)

This got me curious so I tried to find something to contradict that revisionist link, and I found this, which looks like it covers the whole story, including the Squanto story.

There had been many visits by Europeans and then in 1615 an expedition captured 20 Indians to sell as slaves in Spain -- scroll down to the heading "1615." and then "1619" to see how the revisionists cherry-picked their information to give the ugliest spin on the story. The "real" story is not their version, but I think this link I'm giving you probably has most of it.

Squanto was one of those taken, but he went to England instead of Spain and came back in 1619 just in time to help the Pilgrims. But the first Indian to help the Pilgrims was Samoset, who also spoke some English. His story is on this page too. He brought Squanto to the Pilgrims.

You never know how God is going to work to provide for his own -- even using slavery if necessary, just as he used the evil intentions of Joseph's brothers to sell him into Egypt so that later Joseph could be a blessing to his people.

It's an interesting story when you see all of it, both the good and the bad. A pox on leftist revisionism.

Now the "above" post I wrote has disappeared! A long post about a new link that gives the whole story. Here's the link again. Scroll down to "1615" and "1619" and then on to "Samoset" for the whole story.

Of course, Angelina Jolie hates Thanksgiving and said she'll specifically be out of the country today in order to avoid all us Heavy Handed Americans crowing about what a fabulous nation this still is and how we should be blessed on the day.

She can stay away and never come back, if she really wants to. Honest. I won't insist she get back on a plane to American. Really. I want her to have her wish.

Amen Z! Another little-known fact about those earliest times, is that their crops almost were gone from lack of rain, & all of them gathered to pray for an extended time, & as they did, a mist began to fall, & then a bountiful rain, & the harvest was spared, & blessed. Thank you for reminding us of our genuine beginnings Z. God Bless you & yours this Thanksgiving Day.

Hi ZinLA; that's me SAM;

This is to inform you that one of the applications of my patent has given wonderful results on Human health,

2 years ago, I manufactured an small module for the deaf and bad hearing people, and we found that the deaf are not deaf, they can hear like a CHEF D'ORCHESTRE, and by using the module one hour per day, and after some days they are no longer deaf and they need no more any kind of hearing aid.

The same module cures acouphene and MIGRAINE and the hard crisis of migraine and Rheumatism and Sciatic and Arthrouse and arthritis.

the doctors say that my module makes the relaxation of the brain, last week I sent one module to a professor at San Diego, he is going to use it with a patient who has CANCER of LIVER, they have given him only 2 months of live.

We don't know yet the result, they will put the module on him this coming Sunday.

if it works, all kind of deceases coming from the loss of immunity like, all kinds of Cancer, Aids, Alzheimer, Parkinson and many others can be cured without any kind of medicin.

I thought that after 2 years, to say you that you are always in my heart, you can have this news.

Avec mes respects
