"I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." ~ C. S. Lewis (Yes, even politics)

Luke 23:24, perhaps?
It's not in the Bible, but the old Yiddish proverb comes to mind...
"Man plans, God laughs."
1 Timothy 2
King James Version (KJV)
2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Brooke..'So Pilot decided to back their demand?'
AOW......that helps me a LOT, too.
SF...that is comforting, isn't it.
Ed...perfect
One scripture passage that comes to mind is
Douay-Rheims Bible
2 Thessalonians 3:3 brings me great comfort.
But God is faithful, who will strengthen and keep you from evil.
Psalm 140 is good too.
Teresa...I love Thessalonians...thanks for posting that particular verse. Excellent.
I hope you're feeling well!
I need to remind readers, most of whom have always shown utter respect for Sunday and my Faith Post (for which I'm very grateful), that we do not talk politics here.
Thanks.
2 Corinthians 11
FJ..very interesting...
esp, :18/19 ;)

There is an apostolic injunction to suffer fools gladly. We always lay the stress on the word “suffer,” and interpret the passage as one urging resignation. It might be better, perhaps, to lay the stress upon the word “gladly,” and make our familiarity with fools a delight, and almost a dissipation. Nor is it necessary that our pleasure in fools (or at least in great and godlike fools) should be merely satiric or cruel. The great fool is he in whom we cannot tell which is the conscious and which the unconscious humour; we laugh with him and laugh at him at the same time. An obvious instance is that of ordinary and happy marriage. A man and a woman cannot live together without having against each other a kind of everlasting joke. Each has discovered that the other is a fool, but a great fool. This largeness, this grossness and gorgeousness of folly is the thing which we all find about those with whom we are in intimate contact; and it is the one enduring basis of affection, and even of respect.
I don't know anybody who puts up with fools...we're all fighting against them. everywhere.
perhaps even, an ever-springing fount of "caritas".
We're all "fools in our own way" aren't we?
...some are simply "more bold" than others. And in response, we too must at times be "bold" in ours.
Wow, you deleted my posts rather quickly Z.
You're finally getting the hang of running a left-wing blog!
I need to remind readers, most of whom have always shown utter respect for Sunday and my Faith Post (for which I'm very grateful), that we do not talk politics here.
Thou shalt not bear false witness.
"How does your Christian faith play into what's going on now in America with the lies, the media bias, the threats, the amount of greed, the terrible discord, the way our government's afraid to label real evil...?" is a political question.
Lying for Romney is okay though. I forgot.
beamish, apparently, you also forgot this is my blog.
And, of course, my question was about faith...we all know the political things your pal Obama's foisted on us, mine was a reminder.
oh, and that wasn't so fast. You'll be surprised how fast I can delete.
My faith informs me that lying for Romney is just as bad as lying against Romney. Perhaps you belong to the sect of "Christianity" mentioned in Matthew 7:20-23
Beamish, am locking the blog comments down again.... I am also deleting many of your nasty comments.
A difference of opinion with you is not a lie. You're so much sounding like Ducky these days it's astonishing. Congratulations.
YOu keep fighting your "i'm more conservative than you are" war....but I'm trying to make sure Obama isn't elected.
Most of my readers are adults here and know what, unfortunately, limits us, and remember, I DID NOT BUILD THIS BLOG FOR ME OR YOU OR ANY OTHER CONSERVATIVE TO SLAM THE ONLY CANDIDATE WE HAVE....no matter what we think.
that's it. I will not give ammo to the left and I WILL NOT try hard to dissuade Romney voters into voting for Obama or not voting.
have a great Sunday!!
On second thought, though I close comments to moderation for now, I'm leaving your comments.
People need to see them, though it so badly spoils the beautiful participation of the others. Kind of sad.
Please, all my other readers:
I'm so sorry we were forced to take this turn; i get so many comments of how you love my SUnday Faith blog...and how you appreciate those who respect it.
I'm around most of today and will be quickly releasing your comments to publication, so don't hesitate!...we need uplifting thoughts, we need scriptural help, or any other way you cope with all that's happening...
thanks and have a blessed day! Z
When we seem to be in dire straits...when we are surrounded by greed, corruption, deception, and sheer evil perpetrated against us by those who claim to have our best interests at heart, but don't, and we have nothing but a grim future to look forward to...
When there is no guidance, help, strength, encouragement, or anything else to be afforded to us by friends, family, or learned men...
What can we do?
When I am feeling overwhelmed, with bad reports coming from every direction, and begin to feel that we are in a losing battle, defeated no matter how hard I'm trying, I do as David, God's servant did, and encourage myself in the Lord: (1 Samuel 30:6)
I remind myself of all of the promises that God has given me about never leaving me, nor forsaking me.
I remind myself of all of the times that He has intervened in my life, when He provided for me, healed me, and protected me, and my children, and others.
I remind myself of His faithfulness in ALL things, and that He will do what He says He will do.
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
(Numbers 23:19 KJV)
I remind myself that He, ultimately, is in control of all things, and that in the grand scheme of things, Good WILL triumph over Evil.
I know you know all of this, Z, 'cause I know you've experienced this, too:
"In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthened me with strength in my soul..." (Psalm 138:3).
Z...thank God for this Sunday reprieve!
6 Days a week is enough time to cover all the rot in the country / world.
Jan, THANK YOU! Excellent stuff there.
Imp...you are a sweetheart...that means the world to me.
Z,
Our Sovereign's ways are mysterious. He plans very long term.
We shall not know many things until we pass through the veil.
One of the finest believers I've ever known insisted: "Worrying too much is evidence of not trusting the Lord."
Of course, we humans are flawed, so we have to worry to a certain extent.
Also, worry is not the same thing as grief.
AOW, it's also a SIN. In Matthew (6:25?) there is the DO NOT WORRY verse I live by...though it doesn't always work :-)
You're right...if we trust God, how CAN we worry?
