Sunday Faith Blog............

Is there anything that you felt God was teaching you last year?   Or wants to teach you this year?  Personal, business, relational?  You don't have to get too personal;  I understand this could go that way, but I thought it might help us all to hear the kinds of things God's trying to do in the lives of others and maybe open our eyes to the fact that he might be doing that in ours, too, but we didn't quite notice.

Or, come to think about it, the life of America as a country? What do you think?

"Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures but his hands also heal." Job 5: 17,18

 thanks! Z

I might chime in myself in a while... z

Not was you're asking for (nothing like starting off, off-topic).
I just saw that there is a controversy over whether Obama should swear in on a Bible.
I actually think he should not for totally different reasons than theirs.
I don't want him defiling a Bible again.

I believe God was teaching me last year that it's not always going to go my way.
And He doesn't always tell me why His way is different.

Always and in all kinds of ways...

I love the quote you chose. God is always there to teach and correct us, if we only listen.

Patience. More patience.

And not to focus so much on politics. There is plenty of beauty to enjoy, and focusing on politics so much of the time drives me into a state of despair.

Ed, my GOD...I hadn't heard that. Yes, a Bible is 'so CHRISTIAN,' isn't it...how revolting to so many Americans (sarcasm).
What will he swear in on...Catcher in the Rye? a Howard Zinn book? Al Gore's Global Warming book?
amazing.

And yes, we can sometimes find in Scripture how God's way is different than what we want, but it's hard to figure WHY sometimes!

SF...got a particular one to share? I'm glad I found that quote; I thought it was important, too.

AOW...I'm having friends here Thursday and, amid some pretty good food, wine, and fun conversation, I'm going to ask this same question (we had a question last year at my party and it was so interesting and bonded this group of girlfriends of mine all of whom didn't know each other...) PATIENCE is something a few of them have said they'd talk about.
These days, patience is so important.

And I'm beginning to feel the same about politics; As much as I know my little blog doesn't change things, however, I still feel the need to fight the good fight and I know you do, too.

I guess, come to think of it, I could say God's been telling me to get back to Oil Painting...in a 100 different and really weird ways. I should... but with working, ... etc..etc.!

I don't know if you know who Louis Giglio is but he is prime mover in the Christian youth movement called Passion. Checkout his youtube video Undescribable.
He was asked to give the inaugural benediction. Now he's out because of his stand in homosexuality.

Z,
Yes, I'm still fighting -- even if the fight is futile.

But right now, I'm going to turn off the computer and go finish the novel I'm enjoying: The Good Father.

Z - I think God has been teaching me to trust Him in the past year.
To see how He has been working in my life - and how much better His plan for me is compared to my plan for myself.

His is the winner.

I am constantly reminded that my plans and God's plans don't always coincide. I have a lot for which to be thankful, and must show some faith in whatever his plans is for me. That's a tough thing to do.

Well said. I have never been a patient person, especially in our competitive everyday lives. Tolerating losing is not in my genetic makeup, and this last year has been a terrific loss to all of us.

We need to be more patient and play the situation as it presents itself with less rancor and more thoughtful utterings.

Great subject, Z. Thanks

It seems that this past year, like none I can remember, has awakened me to the pitfalls of a society which chooses Government over God. I think that it would be impossible for me to explain this to anyone who fails to realize it on his/her own.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths."

The above passage of scripture is found in Proverbs 9, and it's all good, but that particular passage has a lot of meaning and wisdom in it, and I think the past year has taught me this, as never before.

When certain things happened, it was almost incomprehensible to me, and I have had a very hard time understanding just exactly how it could have happened, and why, and what possible good could come of it.

The past two or three years I have become more aware of just how deceitful and callous that many of our elected officials have become, and I've come to realize just how selfish and uninformed much of society is, now.

When I think about it so much that I begin to feel overwhelmed, I am reminded that God is still in control, and that no matter what the circumstances look like, He is still my protector, my provider, and my healer.

No matter what happens in this country, God is still on the Throne, and He will make the ultimate decisions concerning the welfare of all who trust in Him.

I take comfort in knowing that.

Jan, thank God for that comfort, right?

Ducky...what do you think of Das Kapital?

I think that Marx was correct to observe that capitalism turns everything to a commodity, even labor.

That is not Christian

Hey! I lost my FreeThinke ID. It's just gone with the wind.

This Blogger software is VERY capricious -- so much so it borders on hostility.

And now we these sick looking code words to contend with again.

Oh well. Tomorow's another day.

GOOD NIGHT!

Oh yes, Ducky, it is. If people actually act Christian capitalism helps all, gives enough to those of us who can take what we have and give to the poor, etc.
Breaking a country by a top heavy government isn't Christian, either, because all will then be poor; all will suffer; nobody can help.
