Beethoven and Pumpkins...as "Halloween" as I want to get....

A daring vacationer in Vienna is walking through a graveyard on Halloween when all of a sudden she hears music. No one is around, so she starts looking to see where it's coming from.
She finally locates the source and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads, "Ludwig van Beethoven."
Then she realizes that the music is the Ninth Symphony and it is being played backward. Puzzled, she leaves the graveyard and persuades a friend to return with her.
By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed. This time it is the Seventh Symphony, but it is also being played backward.
Curious, the ladies agree to consult a music scholar. When they return with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing and the expert concludes that the symphonies are in fact being played in reverse order.
By the next day the word spread and a huge group gathered around the grave to hear the Second Symphony being played backward. Just then the graveyard's caretaker approaches the group. Someone in the crowd asks him if he has an explanation for the music.
"Oh, it's nothing to worry about," says the caretaker. "He's just decomposing!!"
 Have a fun day!

I wonder if any of my students will arrive today in costume?

Decomposing. Good.
We don't do Halloween.
Ended up giving candy out to costumes I couldn't condone or approve with the reward of a chocolate bar.

Z - That's a good one.

Halloween is being postponed until tomorrow here because of the rain.

I try to get candy that I don't like but I broke down and got some of those little candy bars. Boo Hoo.

I've been a hard core fan for a long time, Imp.

I have a bat rack in my kitchen.
Game used, Jensen, Fisk, Aparicio, Runnels, Stephens, Evans.

Cute joke, Z.

I am not big on Halloween, either.

Hubby LOVES to take the kids trick-or-treating, and see all the little ones in cute costumes, but all I seem to notice is 17 yr old girls with a baby on their hip, holding open a bag for candy. :/ Last year I said I would buy a dozen pacifiers to give to the babies! Ha!

Great story Z...

Enjoy the day... fittingly, here in Nevada, this is the day we became a state... talk about goblins...

Dave Miller said...

Ducky... Aparicio? Really? No Yaz, Lynn or Rice? Aparicio was more widely known and had his best years in Chi Town didn't he?

I love the bat rack though... you should post a picture...

Duckys here said...

Aparicio will forever be remembered here as one of the greatest baserunners in history who tripped over the third base bag leading to the Tigers winning by ½ game in the strike year.

Yaz bats are tough to come by at a reasonable price.

FROM Z of GEEEZ:

Ducky, it is VERY exciting for the SOX and I can see why you're so happy. Congratulations.
And VERY cool about the bat rack....that's amazing. What a great thing to have.

Dave, "goblins" and Nevada..VERY good! I had ZERO idea you live in Nevada!!!

Cute joke!

I wonder if there is more to Hallowe'en than cute costumes of witches and goblins of the past, where today there seems to be more an element of celebrating the demonic or satanic.

According to Anton Levay the author of The Satanic Bible, Hallowe'en is considered a high holy time of Satanism.

Just another sign of the insanity of the day—supposed Christians joining in celebration of the day with satanists and occultists, I think.

Kyle's had my best thoughts for awhile now. Last I heard he was doing pretty good. And what a Mom he has.

Thanks, Kid..
Was just about to post an update;

yes, he's doing pretty well. Spleen was removed today...lots of internal bleeding stopped due to that.
Many tests were done but at least he IS going to live and is not paralyzed, etc.

The illegal who hit him left the scene and decided to come back around the corner and stop. Thank GOD he won't have a felony arrest, but he was arrested; no driver's license, no insurance, etc.
I'm praying for him, too.

ANY of us can hit a person walking; these days, people just walk into a crosswalk without even looking.

You can always count on an illegal...we need them so.

@Waylon

The origins of Halloween are in the Celtic celebration of Samhain, which marked the harvest and the turning of the season. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samhain

Pagan, not Satanic, though it has been maligned as such.

Z said...

Anonymous, he's still a human being and was a wreck over hurting this kid I know so well.
That could happen to us any day, at any moment, God forbid.

Viburnum, the costumes that are skeletons and witches, etc., are what gave it a more 'satanic' twist, I think. It's "All Hallows Eve" right? You're right..more pagan than satanic, but it's become a little more demonic, in a way.

I remember when I was little, we girls couldn't wait to put lipstick on and dress like princesses and boys were cowboys. Suddenly, they're Elvira and Frankenstein! :-) And much worse!

We had a huge storm roll in about 7 PM, hopefully, kids got plenty of candy.

However, in our small town, most churches have trunk or treat, or something to that effect.

We stayed home and watched tv.

For the first time in well over 15 years, we had two trick-or-treaters last night: one little girl dressed as a cheerleader and one older girl dressed as a cat. Nothing Satanic, occult, demonic, etc.

Z said...

Always, good to hear!

Leticia, I hope your storms are gentle storms and you're okay

"he's still a human being "

And a criminal regardless. We don't need anymore of that type of plague that's a threat to your safety or security. There's millions more like this him too.

Unlike most of us this POS can't comply with our most basic laws and expectations. So this is the type of immigrant we need here? One that clearly doesn't give a rats ass for any laws?

A DL, insurance, legality and who's now responsible for a kid losing an organ.

Yea...he's a a"wreck" all right. Cause this slug knows he's going to jail...for 5 minutes then he'll do it again. Face the facts...these unwanted and unnecessary burdens on the country and california especially are responsible for around 40% of the violent crime in America. They're here without our permission and mock our laws and actually demand we accept them?

What crap. Yea...he's a "human being" all right...so's charlie manson, ted bundy, dennis rader and Jeffrey Dahmer.

The only difference between them is your illegal...hasn't killed anyone yet. Give him time...he will.

I hate to appear a bit ornery...but "feelings" have no place in a discussion about criminals and or illegals. We have enough problems dealing with our own home grown animals without having to import the rest of the worlds debris.

And as they consume the entire state of california they'll move on like a plague to neighboring states to cause mayhem and havoc on civilized society.

You may as well get used to it.

I took Alice in Wonderland Trick or Treating between raindrops!
So funny, she doesn't like candy but she LOVES Trick or Treating!

I wonder why most kids want to dress in bloody garb? So disturbing.
