Barry or Barack, this REALLY bugged me.........

I just saw Michelle Obama on Paula Deen's cooking show.

Paula had found a childhood picture of Barack Obama which surprised Michelle. 'Where did you GET that?', she asked.
I didn't catch where Paula said she got it, but I did catch this:

Paula said "It says BARRY Obama on it!" Michelle answered "Oh, that's just what his FAMILY called him."
HIS FAMILY? NO.........the books I've read by Obama show clearly that everyone, including school friends, called him BARRY until Occidental College. I found that odd. Why would Michelle jump in with something untruthful?

Remember..the campaign didn't like dwelling on this choice as an adult to use his African name? Michelle's right on message, isn't she!?

If there is “a” reason, there could be thousands of explanations why Michelle would lie about Barry Barack. The first possibility is she didn’t lie … she simply misspoke. Remember, she is an attorney. Now as it happens, for years I thought “misspoke” was a flat tire on a covered wagon, but I’m a lot smarter now … it’s a socialist word for lying one’s a** off.

As children, Little Vinnie Vitalone and Big Al Rigatone may prefer associating with a young Barry, rather than a Barack. Children can be so mean, sometimes – particularly when they have Thompson machineguns in their backpacks. As Barry got older, he may have decided that “Barack” was better suited to his African roots — especially when he started hanging around with Syrian born Antoin “Big Tony” Rezko, who he really never knew personally.

WHO CARES about when he chose to be called BARACK, but why LIE? odd? I have my thoughts about this...........do you?

It might not have been an intentional lie. A misremembrance, perhaps? Or perhaps the false narrative has been told so many times, it's now believed? Which means...it's a lie.

I still like Paula Deen, even if she had Mrs. Messiah Barack on her show! But, it is true, about a lie being told so many times it becomes the truth-even if it still is a lie. Let's see. Oh, here is one. You can put lipstick on a pig and it is still a pig! Now, who just said that recently? Oh, why it was Sen. Messiah Barack. But, he was not refering to Gov. Palin. Just as I am not referring to Mrs. Messiah Barack! Or Barry!

Of COURSE it could have been an innocent mistake, but considering all the talk months ago about why he chose to use Barack instead, I thought it very telling.

She's just dead wrong, that's all........he used it till he was about twenty years old. Barry.....

just another convenient mistake. I guess Obama'd say "Michelle wasn't ARTFUL", huh?

Barry or Barack, does it really matter? George Wallace said it best, "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, Patriot Act, banning books like "America Deceived' from Amazon, Wikipedia and Facebook, warrant-less wiretapping and opening private mail. They are both guilty of treason.
Clean them all out and save this great nation.
Last link (before Google Books bends to gov't Will and drops the title):

I don't know why she said it. Maybe Barry sounds too pedestrian?
:-)
Michelle sure seems to have had change of appearance since Palin came on the scene, or is it just me?

pinky...what DID they do to her? Something softened in her face....brows? what?
She looked SO very severe and angry all the time and now they've softened her up but I don't know what they did. you're right, I hadn't thought of it, but there's something VERY different.

The point about the name is that the campaign was diligent at the beginning about it; "it was a maturing process, he just liked Barack better suddenly......etc." Anything to avoid saying "HE WENT AFRICAN"
It was clear they were nervous about it being a very 'ethnic' name and he'd discarded the "Anglo" one for it.
Nobody really cares about that, obviously, but the CHOICE of picking that name as an adult, stacked on to other questionable things he's done (church choice, stopping wearing a pin...suddenly stopping wearing a flag pin, the removal of the American flag off his plane so his logo could go up, the phony presidentical seal, etc etc etc) apparently made many nervous, so the campaign downplayed this choice...(of course, it's good to keep attention on his FIRST name to deflect from Hussein...)

it wasn't his family...everyone called him that. But,it sounds better to say "the family..." instead of "Ya, he picked an African name instead of an Anglo name...please make nothing out of that.....it was just 'inartful'....there's nothing racial meant at ALL....."
Who cares, really? Just tell the truth. Is there ANYTHING authentic about them at ALL?

Z, I think it's her hair, as well as a major wardwrobe change.

But a good brow waxing does do miracles. You know how I feel about eyebrows! ;-)

I think Barack went afrocentric when he became exposed to his mentor, Wright, and to appeal to black constituents in Chicago. Street cred, don't you know.

Michelle? Maybe a little botox between the eyebrows to interrupt that constant frown, and telling her to smile more? Who knows.

Life is tough when you can't be yourself eh? But, anything goes, apparently, when you desire power above all else.

The whole thing reminds me of Hillary and "baking cookies", she had the same problem. Too strident.

What is it with these angry women? That's why Sarah Palin is so refreshing. She proves being strong AND happy are not only possible but desirable and attractive.

Being tough is a strength that's an inner quality, not a facade. And you don't need to discard femininity if you're the real deal.

I have to say I gave Paula Deen a bit of slack when she had Jimmy Carter on her show, twice. But, after fawning over Michelle, forget it. No more Paula in this house. She can campaign elsewhere.

I know, KAren..I saw the Carter homage, too.

Apparently, she's asked the mcCains on...I don't know if they were on it yet, only heard "She'd asked the McCains..."

I'm not sure what difference it makes in this context, but as I understand it, Barack is not an African, but an Arab name, and so is Obama, and of course Hussain. At least according to this:

http://forums.hannity.com/showthread.php?t=792431

"He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively."

CJ..I looked it up and it said he thinks it's African, but...who knows?

I just find it odd that different stories abound. SO much subterfuge and hiding in the Obama campaign. As they look for every tiny nuance against Palin.

NO.........the books I've read by Obama show clearly that everyone, including school friends, called him BARRY until Occidental College I found that odd. Why would Michelle jump in with something untruthful?

Did Michelle say his family called him “BARRY Barack”? Or BARRY? If, as Michelle apparently contends, and as his half-sister Maya remembers (according to Newsweek) his white grandparents, with whom he lived, called him BARRY, it possibly explains how it got started–––i.e., he called himself Barry in his teen years and had his friends call him that.

According to David Mendell (Obama: From Promise to Power, 2007, p.46), Eric Kusunoki, his homeroom teacher though all four high school years, recalled that on the first day, he reviewed Obama’s first name several times on the class roster and finally admitted that he could not pronounce it. Obama showed no sign of annoyance and spoke up with a smile, “Just call me Barry.”

Newsweek says, “Barry Obama decided that he didn't like his nickname. A few of his friends at Occidental College had already begun to call him Barack (his formal name), and he'd come to prefer that.” Barry was also the nickname his father had used when he came to America on a scholarship.

If Michelle is lying about this, however, it is extremely important, to the extent it makes her obviously unfit to be First Lady. If the world were right, an independent prosecutor would have been appointed to expediently investigate.

Get her on the record, under oath, to say that Barry is the name his grandparents called him. Why care, some may ask? Swift voters for Truth know better: She thought she could further a major campaign objective by a seemingly innocuous remark in a cooking forum. She is hiding something horrendous. She may be cute but, as she cautioned, cute doesn’t cut it. The Gallup Tracking poll shows Barack in the lead, but this awful lie indubitably proves Michelle is stunningly unworthy of the highest office a spouse can desire. For the Truth cannot be Barrified. No, it will not be Obamished.

It doesn't matter what you call it; halitosis by any other name still offends everyone it reaches.

You can call a peck of potatoes The Crown Jewels, if you like, but it will STILL be a peck of potatoes.
