Santorum...what IF he wins Michigan?

HERE is some Yahoo 'wishful thinking'..........."A Santorum win in Michigan takes all of the talk about a new candidate or a brokered convention and puts it on steroids," Republican strategist Todd Harris said."  Do you think so, too?

I'm disgusted with the whole primary process. Too much of a dog-and-pony show for me.

Z - from the article -

'Some Republicans worry that Santorum at the top of the ticket in the November 6 general election
could put the emphasis on the wrong issues...'

THEY GOT THAT RIGHT

and what I mean - Z - is that it could Really put the empahsis on the Wrong Issues - and in the long run Really hurt Our Country - and the Real Issue here that the focus SHOULD be on - is the Economy.

Do ya think that is true - Z?

Democrats would like nothing else but a Santorum win.

A candidate with little support outside a portion of the Republican party is not a serious contender.

If Santorum wins Obama will wet himself with laughter.

Silverfiddle said...

The media wants a brokered convention for the revenue the spectacle will generate.

The GOP has really blown it...

I agree with Duck. [shock]

I live in Ohio. I have to wait for the establishment to tell me who not to waste my primary vote on, 'cause it's all decided anyway, right?

That said, I think that ham sandwich could win against Obama at this point. Ron Paul excluded.

elmers brother said...

The brokered convention meme is a faabrication of the media. Don't attempt to calculate your number of barnyard foul prior to the completion of their incubation period duhkkky.

EB is Right - ducky.

This is America - and if Barack Obama can be President - then Anybody can be - Anything.

elmers brother said...

Brooke, the local radio station runs a bit every morning explaining how a ham sandwich could beat Obama. I'm not counting chickens yet.

elmers brother said...

You're right Sue. If a Marxist community organizer can become POTUS then anyone can.

elmers brother said...

you need to read more duhkky. Santorums in a statistical dead heat.

Dave Miller said...

Elmer's Bro, he maybe in that dead heat, but the trend is going against him. It looks like he will need Dem crossover votes to win.

Dave Miller said...

Silver, how has the GOP blown it?

You're a pretty reasoned guy, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Dave Miller said...

Brooke, what states will the ham sandwich be winning that the Monte Cristo could not win in 2008.

Z, the Monte Cristo reference is to remind you of both Callahan's and Izzy's...

AOW, it's all show..and selling air time on TV.
As for Santorum, some of the values things just can't be only Republicans....I'm hearing libs agree, too. Even that blonde ditz on Scarborough's show said she agreed with Santorum on contraception. I couldn't believe my ears...Mika..what's her name?

Sue, no...as Santorum says, and which is obvious to those watching, he's talking about everything, but the media's only showing the values stuff.

Oh..SF seems to share my sentiments.

Elbro, I wish I had that station here to listen to!

Dave, was at Izzy's picking up mac'n cheese for my 93 yr old friend who's not well just yesterday

Ducky is spot on correct, and so too is Elmo's brother. If the American people will elect a man like Obama in 2008, then they are certainly capable of reelecting him in 2012.

I say this because there is no shortage of people just like Sue, who foolishly think government’s primary focus must be the economy. What is it about “free market” these people do not understand? What has the government done (at our expense) that solved anything? Did the bailouts help? Did nationalization of automotive industries help? Did the implementation of national socialist healthcare make everything all better?

I suspect there are two reasons we end up with people like Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul: the first is that people with integrity want no part of the national politick, and the second is only a small percentage of conservatives share the left’s rabid desire to force their point of view on everyone else. That leaves us with dangerous types, such as “compassionate conservatives,” who are either communists in sheep’s clothing, or useful idiots.

We can thank the Marxists who control our education system for making our people dumber than at any other time in our history. We can thank our brainwashed citizens for making “big brother” a reality in western society. I believe these fools will overwhelmingly reelect Obama. Subsequently, no one will remember the America of our forefathers … before the institution of the neo-Marxist state.

Ducky's here said...

Well Sam, the overarching truth is that the idiot Americans gave up the task of electing effective political leaders long ago.

While we can take delight in the image of L'il Ricky Retardo getting his head handed to him as he says separation of church and state makes him barf we still have to deal with the truth that the government is controlled by corporate pimps.

I don't take any real joy in the fact that southwest Ohio and a lot of the midwest are going to look like Detroit in a decade and Brooke may not have the means to get out but I'm always perverse enough to want people to get what they ask for. No exit.

elmers brother said...

Well Obama will need independents as well...the trend hasnt changed much as Santorom was up by 2-3% two months ago. Either way its not the floor mopping duhkky suggests.

elmers brother said...

And despite duhkksters ad hominems we're still stuck with no solutions from his far left buddies but to burn the whole thing down and start over with them as our feudal overlords. Go to hell duhkky.

Z said...

Elbro, it looks like he's not going to get the raucous Black vote he had last time..........people aren't as excited. (duh)

Sam, no one will remember, you're right. I saw a video yesterday of the kinds of answers kids gave as far as their future and they actually expect gov't to GIVE them a job, GIVE them a house, GIVE them all their health care..
Thanks, Lefties. We have to admit, the Left's been effective.

A Santorum win will mean nothing except Saint Santorum will parade around like a banty rooster in the barnyard with his Howdy Doody grin. It takes 1114 votes to get the nomination. As it stands today Romney has 97. The rest follow, but not far behind, other than Paul, who has about what he can count on --20 but he continues to waste our time with his incoherent rants.

I think Romney will be the nominee after all. He may not be 100% of what we need or want but we cannot afford 4 more years of the chameleon we have now.
I can't imagine many people who are on unemployment and food stamps will vote for Obama, although we do have a dumbed down public who actually believe Obama is "fixing" things"
It's like a bunch of desperate people waiting on line for their loaf of bread adn thanking Obam for it.

Dave Miller said...

Lisa, interesting that you would use the term Chameleon to describe President Obama in comparison to Mr. Romney.

Isn't one of the biggest complaints about Mitt from the GOP side the charge that he waffles and has changed sides of many issues?

Wasn't Mitt in support of gay unions, government health care, and more liberal immigration policies before he was against them?

I do think, as you do, that he will win Michigan and the nomination, but I continue to hold out hope that Santorum somehow finds a way to pull it out.

This from a guy who foists morally reprehensible films on our children....GO PBS!

Don't worry folks...duhkkky couldnt have voted for JFK either. We've seen the comparisons, his statements were even more evangelical than Santorums.

elmers brother said...

while making 6 figures.

elmers brother said...

I would argue that it's been the media that has placed this emphasis on Santorums statements on social issues.

Lisa said...

'Wasn't Mitt in support of gay unions, government health care, and more liberal immigration policies before he was against them?'

yeah well Dave what are you gonna do in liberal Massachusetts?
It was his conservative fiscal policies that worked in that state.
Obama on the other hand hides behind speeches from Roosevelt and Lincoln.
I would like to see what the public would think if he repeated speeches from Rev Wright or Louis Farrakhan.

elmers brother said...

You stick wit your principals instead of pandering. That's what you do Lisa.

The Republican Party seems to be looking ahead to 2016, when Obama's second term will have damaged the Democrat brand irreparably.

BTW Ducky did you notice in that poll that even Ron Paul was leading Obama by 2%.

LOL!

Nah, Romney's a lead pipe cinch in Michigan.

Not many Michiganders take to Santorum's bible-thumpin' ways. I used to live in Michigan, I know.

Lisa, you called Obama a chameleon, I guess because you feel he has changed his positions...

Yet you defend Romney for doing the same...

Interesting point of view...

Is being a chameleon wrong if it helps you get elected?

"it looks like he's not going to get the raucous Black vote he had last time....."

I'm curious Z...what info / facts do you base that statement on?

Z said...

Lisa, you're right when you say "yeah well Dave what are you gonna do in liberal Massachusetts?
It was his conservative fiscal policies that worked in that state."

I think he had to pander to get the governorship for a springboard to the Presidency and that sometimes you have to go with that flow; to do things you don't want to do so you can do the things you do want done.

Imp, I've heard it in discussions a lot on television; that the passion in the black community for Obama's fading.

Have you all seen how well the SEALS film did this week? Amazing....who knew that patriots fighting for AMerica would do that well? Let's hope that, after one week, there are still more patriots who'd appreciate the film........

elmers brother said...

Now if we can just predict when Romney will pander we'll be good.

Z said...

Elbro, Not everybody has to like what LIsa or I think...but I believe that he will trend more conservative if he's elected. His book apparently puts aside any doubts as to his conservativism. I have been considering getting it to reassure myself because, believe me, I'm no huge Romney fan, that's for sure. I believe Santorum sounds better every single day and I"m sorry that the media ploy of concentrating only on his (good) social values is blinding people to everything he's saying on all the other subjects.
Also, re Romney, I don't believe in people not changing.

There's tracking that says Republicans might win the Senate this year, too... he'll be hard pressed to go too Left with the House and the Senate on the Right...though I'm never too happy when either side has the whole thing.

elmers brother said...

Of course people change but I'm not convinced he's changed just to get votes.

Z said...

you mean you think he's changed just to get votes?
Whatever...I need to get his book.
We all should.

" the passion in the black community for Obama's fading..."

Really ? But how can that be? He's putting an additional $20 per week into paychecks, isn't he?

That'll help cover the $5 per gallon gas won't it?

And I seriously doubt that if Rangel, Waters, Jackson Lee, Sharpton, Jackson, Marion Barry, Sharp Jaames and Alcee Hastings can all be reelected time and time again....that Obummer would see any blow back from his fawning constituency.

Remember....he's appealing to "African Americans" blatantly and openly...that's our post racial potus....lower case.

And he's openly appealing to "Lation's" ( aka La Raza ) for their votes. Another arrow in Obummers quiver that kills racial harmony. Obummer doesn't give a rats patooty....about being a blatant racist.

I only hope that the Americans who elected this AA fraud....won't be bamboozled again...nor feel guilty about voting his white butt out of office. For all our good and benefit.

Maybe the French guy will start a new trend....where they all keep their mouths shut and be judged on acting...not their idiotic political stances and ideology.

Here's hoping they all become...Mimes.

"Let's hope that, after one week, there are still more patriots who'd appreciate the film........"

And lets hope we never see Obummer in a flight suit landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier that he just cut from the Navy's budget.

But...on the other hand....

The delegate count is now where to be found--Az has not sounded yet and Texas will not be able to sound until farther notice from the courts, It Is looking very strong towards a Brokered Convention-where the TEA PARTY had better TAKE CHARGE or the LIBS will sneak in and nominate someone we do not want!
The good thing about a Brokered Convention is that the Tea Party will be able to flex it's muscle (Hopefully).
The bad thing is that the Libs can sneak in and do some damage.

Z said...

Imp, fine...if you think Blacks are as excited this time, go ahead. I hope you're wrong.
And, please...I have many Black friends who'd rather DIE than go on welfare,

They Say...in this new American, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL WE CAN WIN.
The fraud, the liberal media, the amazing hypocrisy ...NO WAY.

Piers MOrgan has the SCUM BAG Bill Mahers on right now...another show for the Left. The MOST repulsive, disgusting, ugly NOTHING I have EVER SEEN. And people give a **** what he thinks? oh, man.
Free ads for the DNC. crap

Yea I saw the Sunday Talking Heads--and the panels all had (as all through the years (40,since I been keeping track)) 4 Libs and 1 Republican, all re-directing the subject before the Republican could give a complete answer even to one part of the propaganda, as in this years go around of false claims of wiping out contraception for these who had not until now thought that there would be free handouts for the public.

Santorum needs to learn from Newt, grow a pair, and TELL the LSM that he is ALL DONE talking about the social issues! The social conservatives know where he stands on that stuff and it is crazy to keep reminding everyone else about things they aren't really interested in or disagree with him on. He needs to STAY on jobs and the economy--PERIOD!
