Apparently some of the folks are saying he could have done better, but biden didn't do himself any favors by being an ass.

I'm pretty sure Ryan can do the job, he has the skills and determination, but many out there are still wooed by style and the facade. Let's hope there aren't too many of them around.

I don't necessarily use a debate to gauge aptitude for office, but Ryan at least did better than Obama did in his debate.

As usual, Biden was a total Buffoon last night with that stupid and 5th grader Smirk on his face all night, he was obnoxious and indifferent!
One has to wonder if his ever told him that there is no good excuse for bad manners?
Biden acted like a fool, and every one who saw that debate knew it as well as the people around the world who are laughing at the US, both last night and today as well.. Biden truly represents Obama's worthless policy agenda and all their crooked coverups. and lies.

Ducky's here said...

Gun Slinger were you just gushing when Ryan got stuffed admitting he'd continue the Afghanistan fiasco past 2014?

He got stuffed on Iran also.

Can't blame Biden for smirking at that fool's ignorance. It would have been super human to keep a straight face.

Lady Gunslinger said...

You can't blame Biden Ducky? Well I can!
For 90 minutes, Biden sat there laughing and
smirking.
What I saw last night was an old, angry drunk attacking, and interrupting someone trying to engage in a rational discussion of issues.
As usual, Biden was a total Arrogant Buffoon last night with that stupid and 5th grader Smirk on his face all night, he was obnoxious and indifferent!

Rita said...

It seemed the interruptions an outright laughing got worse and just became such a distraction. I woke up with morning with two CNN alerts on my phone. The first was about the Nobel Prize the second said 48% thought Ryan won the debate with 44% Biden.

The laughing at serious issues was probably not a good idea.

Lady Gunslinger said...

Perhaps Biden missed the Libyan Embassy Hearing the other day! That was sad, because he would have heard his own party admit that they SCREWED up with their lack of security and admitting they knew about the Cocknbull story about the "Film".

and here are the reasons why what duhkkky says matters....ala September 12 2012

Duhkkky says:

Religious freak(Terry Jones) trying to make money off stirring up Muslims posts a video. He is assisted by a Coptic religious freak in exile in the U.S.

EB: and we all know that it wasn't Terry Jones at all.

Relatively small groups riot in Egypt and Libya. Probably al-Qaeda splinters generating maximum outrage.

EB: it wasn't a protest at all but a military like assault

Meanwhile we've got Bibi the Boob lobbying to throw a few hot ones Iran's way and Obama telling him to take a hike. Glad our "allies" are helping out.

irrelevent

The al-Qaeda freaks are weakened and we should continue to remain calm and try to marginalize them further.

EB: somebody should tell Chris Stevens and the three others who died

We have weakened and marginalized Al-Qaeda. Their hope of reconstituting themselves lies in our responding indiscriminately to these outrages.

EB: see previous response

Huffington says it's an Israeli who received $5 million in funding from Israeli donors. Five million for that? Even Michael Cimino could have brought it in for 20,000.

EB: wrong again, it was a man with ties to Islamic jihadists

... and Governor Olympics really jumped the gun. Obama was clearly in command while Mittens jumped on whatever early information he could find to fan the flames.
Obama is going to pound on that. Bye-bye Mittens.

EB: turns out Romney was ahead of Obama on this and Obama ended up more or less repeating what Romney said

Now Libya is tragic (and there are demonstrations in Benghazi against the attack) but this is all Al-Qaeda has left. Not much of a force. Obama has done a fine job castrating them.

EB: that's what Obama wants you to believe...yet 69% of our casualties in Afghanistan have occurred on Obama's watch

But let us know what conspiracy theories are being posted on Breitbart.

why when I can just read your bullshit

A quick CNN poll of registered voters said 48 percent thought Ryan was the winner, while 44 percent thought Biden claimed the title. Sixty percent of CNN’s respondents said Ryan was presidential, and 53 percent said he was more likable.

A CNBC poll said that 56 percent thought Ryan was the winner, while 36 declared Biden to be the winner.

Does Ducky ever tire of being so consistently wrong about nearly everything?

Constitutional Insurgent said...

I'm not following. What I'm saying is that the overwhelming percentage of our engagements and targeting in AFG is directed towards, and in response to the Taliban, et al....as opposed to al Qaeda, which was at least rhetorically linked by the conversation with Ducky.

Considering that Romney also endorses a 2014 timeline, does that mean he favors "cutting and running" as well?

Ryan made an excellent point on not wanting troops in after 2014 but figuring our boots on the ground know significantly more than a lousy president with no respect for his advisers.

nice stuff.

Elbro: It appears that what's called for by the experts on the ground doesn't apply; Obama knows best and he's bowing to world opinion. This is the new America.
Ryan got his points in on that; are Americans going to be snowed by the mischaracterizations or did they think "Ya, how DUMB is it to tell your enemy when you're going home?"

Ryan was right; you can't leave SOME of our people behind as if the Taliban's whittling down their forces to echo ours! Almost as stupid as Obama telling Russia "We'll put our toys away and we KNOW you'll do the same! RIGHT?" :-)
What's the matter with those in charge now? my GOSH.

Mustang said...

Ducky, let me attempt to explain this in language you can understand. Only a bonehead announces his intent to his enemy. We apparently failed to learn this lesson from the Vietnam War. We failed to learn this lesson from Carter’s botched “rescue attempt” during the Iran crisis.

Now personally, I do not think the US had any business invading Afghanistan. We should not be in the nation-building business at our working citizen’s expense. I do not think even one Afghani is worth the life of an American soldier. I think we should leave Afghanistan today at noon. Obviously, I think Ryan was wrong to suggest that we “might” stay longer if necessary —it is a foreign policy I am unable to endorse. The entire discussion about our intentions demonstrates what morons our government’s leaders are: extremist organizations will benefit from such information.

Rita said...

I do wish Ryan had called Ol Joe out on the laughing. "Mr. Vice President I don't believe most people think the killing of four Americans in a terrorist plot is funny". I think Biden would have been better off to pick his moments to laugh or smirk. Watching him do it during very important issues made if appear that the administration doesn't take these things seriously enough.

I really want to know what true undecided voters thought and it seems impossible to find out because their truly isn't an impartial media anywhere.

Constitutional Insurgent said...

@Mustang - I agree fully with your 2nd paragraph, but let pose a question: would the absence of a timeline impact your fight against an occupying power, were that occupation to occur here?

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

would the absence of a timeline impact your fight against an occupying power, were that occupation to occur here?

Conversely, does the existence of a timeline alter the tactics and strategies that you might employ.

Clauswitz, "On War" WAR THEREFORE IS AN ACT OF VIOLENCE INTENDED TO COMPEL OUR OPPONENT TO FULFIL OUR WILL

It is our will to forfeit the field of battle to the real victors, so try and stop us?

Mustang said...

@CI … I would find a time line most encouraging; the absence of a time line would dictate caution respecting strategy and tactics. The latter would demand conservation of manpower and logistics, the former would encourage a surge of insurgent activities.

Announcing a timeline for withdrawal, as has already occurred in Afghanistan, signals a coalition defeat; it is presently a hot topic in Pakistani newspapers. This does not bode well for what troops remain behind, and in my personal opinion, it is nothing short of political malfeasance.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Only a bonehead announces his intent to his enemy.

Not necessarily. You could announce an intention to kill everyone in sight, and enforce it with strafing runs on those attempting to bury their dead.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Mustang, you crack me up!

The thing is that Ryan was SO right and Biden didn't seem to want to grasp it...you can't leave guys there without the PROPER AMOUNT of our guys there...or our pitifully reduced troop numbers will be attacked/killed..

Was Ryan wrong?

z

Constitutional Insurgent said...

@Mustang - Those are fair answers. The only caveat I would have is that the time between deciding on an 'unannounced' timeline and when the enemy hears about it [especially given the corrupt regime in Kabul] would be short enough to render the argument nearly moot.

My larger issue regarding withdrawal has always been the insistence on a COIN campaign against a rural insurgency v. a CT campaign against al Qaeda.

I certainly agree with the concept of withdrawing all forces immediately, rather than the current "transition" strategy.

Bob said...

Biden was drunk, again. It is impossible for a sober person to talk sense to a drunk, and that's what you had with Biden.

Obama has made the most ignorant mistake of any leader in the history of the world. He has told our enemies that date of when we will leave the battlefield. That idiot's policies will force us into returning to both Afghnistan and Iraq.

As is obvious, Bush was right. Just killing Bin Laden didn't even slow up Al Queda. They are bigger and stronger than ever, but just in different places. Obama and the Democrats are simple fools, and Biden leads the whold KoolAide drinking bunch.

When this term is over, I wonder if Biden will go into rehab.

Bob said...

Constitutional :"The only caveat I would have is that the time between deciding on an 'unannounced' timeline and when the enemy hears about it [especially given the corrupt regime in Kabul] "

Mustang is right when he says, "Only a bonehead announces his intent to his enemy."

Just because the regime in Kabul is corrupt, it doesn't matter. That's not a new thing in our experience, and we should be able to deal with that.

The reason for our presence in Afghanistan was and is to prevent that piece of real estate from being a recruiting and training ground for Islamic terrorists, like the Taliban and Al Queda.

Our problems will not be solved by running from Afghanistan and Iraq. The decision to give the world a date of withdrawal was a stupid mistake. Not in history has any other leader been so naive as Obama. The guy was not and is not ready to lead this country.

Now, real Americans will have to go back to those exact same places to root Al Queda out, again. If not we can expect more and more operations mounted against the continental USA because terrorists will have sanctuary in at least two very large pieces of real estate, Afghanistan and Iraq.

They won't be planning Sunday School parties. It's the death of thousands of American citizens they will be planning.

al Qaeda doesn't need sanctuary in AFG or Iraq to carry out terrorist attacks. COIN is a whack-a-mole approach to terrorism. You cannot destroy a terror organization by trying to deny real estate one country at a time...you have to go after the terror organization.

A fundamental error in our foreign policy was when we elevated the disparate Taliban groups on par with al Qaeda. We've been reaping the effects since 2002.

I STILL say we need to add the letter "h" to the phrase "a sitting vice-president."

Our of respect for Z and other ladies here present I'll leave it to your imagination as to where the extra letter needs to be placed.

But, I'm sure you get the idea, right? };-)>

Have a glorious day!

"Const. Insurg; What do you think I have a
"fundamental distaste" for?? please?"

Z - I'm not referring to you personally. When I hold a discussion with someone online...someone I don't know...I don't make it personal.

I'm referring to the propensity by both parties to obfuscate, distract and conveniently ignore the actions and positions of their party/ideology when they have been proven to be incorrect or detrimental.

Our very rational and understandable course taken when we went into Afghanistan and overthrew the Taliban regime has morphed into a paradigm where we have demoted al Qaeda to a corollary compared to the overwhelming proportion of our defense apparatus being engaged against a rural insurgency with no tangible threat to our national security.

Politicians, their enablers an the media have allowed the reality of the situation to devolve into the public believing that the disparate Taliban groups are THE threat to our security and thus requires an overwhelming amount of effort.....while ironically allowing even that focus to be diverted to Iraq in 2003.

When the Obama Administration states that al Qaeda is on their heels....they're grossly inaccurate. They exacerbated the problem, but they didn't start it. The fundamental distaste refers to a sad majority in this nation that refuse to challenge their preconceived notions, instead seeking only confirmation bias, often through the lens of a media outlet that affirms it.

Const Insu...I understand that, but "this isn't a knock on you" suggests I'm included and I was less offended than just curious.
I'm not sure I agree totally with you but I will say that the minute one party moves a smidge to a saner position, the media jumps on it (as does the other party) and it's suddenly FLIP FLOPPING or CHANGING POSITIONS, etc..always pejorative, right?

I don't even come clean here at my blog when I see Republicans screw up (though I think I do more than most) because I'm not hanging ammunition to my nasty lefties who'll NEVER EVER admit a leftwinger could be wrong.
