Sunday Faith Blog..Israel

At geeeeZ, we support Israel.   This video is the single best video on this subject I have seen.  We encourage you to watch it and SEND IT ON, particularly to Jewish Democrats, many of whom are changing their support from Obama to "anybody but Obama."

Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

Is this WHY Christians protect Israel?  Perhaps, which is why I used this video today for my Sunday Faith Blog.  We know how God feels about Israel and we know Scripture warns those who curse her, those who do not help her.    But, many of us also feel Israel is important as a country which shares our values in that region and has a commitment to being an ally to us and, for those reasons, why change our policy toward Israel?    '
Please send this to Jewish friends..........they need to wake up.   But ALL Americans should be alerted to what's happening to our relationship with Israel, Jewish or not.  It can affect their should.

God bless Israel.  And God bless you today and always.

I think we should all realize that there will never be peace in the Middle East. That situation will never be solved, it can only be managed.

FreeThinke said...

I can only respond by asking a question or two:

What is the scriptural meaning of "Israel?"

When has it ever been wise to poke a stick into a hornets' nest, make camp in the midst of a den of vipers?

However sad and unfortunate it may be SilverFiddle's observation is right.

Oil and Water will never mix.

Jimmy Carter gave us the stink hole that’s Iran. The nappy-headed, big eared, little nerd, Obimbo, wanted Israel to revert back to the borders of 1967.

Netanyahu has said, “Israel is what is right about the Middle East.” Israel is free. Israel is a Democracy. And, Israel is surrounded by tyrants and oppressive governments -- governments and people that can’t even get along with themselves.

Israel is also why America can go to bed and sleep peacefully at night. It’s Israel that’s OUR protector. Israel stands as a thorn in the side of the tyrants and oppressive governments that would chop her head off. Until these tyrants and oppressive governments can annihilate Israel, they know they can’t be perceived, by the rest of the world, as the really “bad boys on the block” when they can’t even bring down one tiny nation that they’ve been fighting for a couple of thousand of years.

It’s pretty telling that, just like in 1967, Israel isn’t asking for our war machines. Netanyahu has said in his speech that he doesn’t need that. Israel can protect itself. All that the Israelis ask for is that America stand strong with them. THEY are our strongest ally.

We need to choose our friends wisely. America SHOULD ALWAYS support Israel.

Remember, Cuba voted in Castro, and Germany voted in Hitler. If America votes in Obama for the second time, we deserve a dictator.

Ed Bonderenka said...

I missed the Genesis reference below the video, so I thought you were asking if the video represented why Christians support Israel.
Got it now.
It was a predominantly Christian America that initially supported Israel. And liberals did so in response to the holocaust, and because of the socialist nature of the kibbutzs.
I can understand a secular asking today why we should spend a dime on Israel.
The fact that it is a democracy probably wouldn't move a libertarian or Paulite who thinks we should refrain from nation building or foreign aid.
Liberals these days pander to the Islamists.
Even Jews can't be counted on as they don't see a need for a refuge.

How many times has President Obama shown his lack of sympathy and even outright hostility toward Israel!! . Not long ago he was caught on an open microphone agreeing with the French President slurring of the Israeli prime minister. And then there was his public snubbing of the Israeli leader’s request to discuss Iran during a recent U.S. visit and met with celebrities and talk shows instead.
I don’t trust Obama, or anything he says, or sends his lying Vice President in to lie for him.
And I still want to know what Obama plans to do about this act of war on our Embassy in Libya?

Jack Whyte said...

Let me see if I understand this revelation by CI … we should discontinue military aid to Israel, but continue providing it to nations that support Shari'a law, are led by the Muslim Brotherhood, and who contrive to murder our diplomatic personnel.

@Jack - Sorry, did I say somewhere that I support foreign aid to nations that uphold Shari'a law? I can't seem to place that quote. You surely wouldn't be compelled to project your assumptions on to me in lieu of an actual rebuttal would you?

There is one nation in the Middle East established on democratic principles. Everyone else demands adherence to the hadith. Thus, discontinuing aid to Israel is a de facto devotion to everyone else. Makes me wonder if you work for the Clinton State Department.

I am one of those “disaffected Democrats” who will be voting AGAINST Obama – though not against the Democrats as a whole…In the end, the point is this: Obama and the clique he has brought into power with him are destroying the Democratic Party, itself, rendering it incapable of providing capable, responsible, and socially progressive leadership for the nation and the world. And for this reason, if for no other, it is imperative that socially-conscious, progressively-minded, pro-Israel, Democrats – Jewish and non-Jewish alike – “bite the bullet” and vote to free the Democratic Party from people like Barack Obama before it is too late, for the Party and for the Nation.
I feel compelled to “put my two cents in”, so to speak, because I am one of those “disaffected Democrats” who will be voting AGAINST Obama in November – though not against the Democrats as a whole – and I think I can offer a perspective on these matters which may succeed in prying loose a sufficient number of Democratic voters (especially Jewish Democrats) to make a difference in a swing state like Florida. To that end, I offer a Democratic case against Obama.

I have NEVER voted Republican in my life, nor to the best of my knowledge has any member of my family. I, naively (and with some misgivings), voted for Obama the first time around in the hope that he would live up to the best traditions of the Democratic Party and rightly serve its core constituencies and the nation. He has not done so. But I will NOT make thae same mistake a second time.

Democrats wanted Obama to protect the public-interest against the abuses of “predatory capitalism” on Wall Street – the criminal manipulations that cost innocent investors billions and nearly wrecked our economy. He has failed to do so. In fact, not only has he not prosecuted the economic criminals that brought us to ruin, he has brought their “point-men” and “associates” into the highest echelons of his administration, thereby guaranteeing their future immunity.

Obama promised us effective health-care reform and then abdicated his responsibility to lead that effort in a comprehensive and efficient manner, leaving the legislative process to a melange of Congressional committees and staff that patched together a legislative concoction that makes Rube Goldberg look like an efficiency expert! As a result, he has produced health-care “reform” that may prove to be no reform at all, and has so confused the public as to its efficacy and cost as to allow a devastating counter-attack by his opponents which may, ultimately, gut the system.
Like every other group in America, American Jews want an economy that is growing and creating jobs for all who seek them. Given his background and

experience, Governor Romney will succeed in turning around the U.S. economy where Barack Obama has failed.
From a Democratic point of view this is not leadership. It represents a degree of dilettantism and political incompetence of which the great reformers and political leaders of the past would never have been guilty. It’s like a boxer who is so over-confident and enamored of himself that he thinks all he needs to do is level one good punch and the fight is over. A good counter-puncher will make minced-meat out of him, as Obama is in the process of learning.
In foreign policy, Obama led us to believe that he would proceed in the great Internationalist tradition of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson. A tradition based upon an understanding of America’s unique and indispensable role in the world as a force for human liberty and the security of free peoples everywhere. And no nation requires and deserves that commitment more fully than the State of Israel.
Once in office, however, Obama showed himself to be painfully tone-deaf to the historical struggle and security concerns of the Jewish State and the dynamics of the extreme, unstable, and hugely dangerous forces that threaten and surround her. He went out of his way to ingratiate himself with some of the most reactionary, violent, and anti-Israel regimes in the area (Saudi Arabia and Iran in particular), and then proceeded, with the help of Secretary of State Clinton, to publicly humiliate Israel over disagreements regarding urban policies in Jerusalem (issues that should have been dealt with in private, if at all).
This is not the mark of a friend. It emboldened the worst elements of the Islamic world to think that the wind was shifting in their direction and it effectively took all pressures off the Palestinians to make concessions at the negotiating table. And no informed Jewish voter for whom the survival and security of Israel is an important priority is going to be gulled by the hollow professions of support now forthcoming from the administration conveniently timed for the upcoming election.
I could go on and on regarding lesser corruptions of Democratic principles – Obama’s flaccid support for the workers of Wisconsin, the internal corruption of his administration – especially at the Justice Department – his Chicago political crony-ism, his naivete regarding the “virtues” of the U.N. and the Third World dictatorships that dominate it, his abject failure to take forceful measures to free the U.S. from dependence upon Middle Eastern oil, etc., etc. All shortcomings which, I believe, are strikingly apparent and of grave concern to well-informed Jewish voters.

Anita Davis said...

Obama put a target squarely on Hilliary's back. It's gong to be very interesting to see how they respond. Time to pop some corn and watch the fireworks....As for the denial on security requests, Charlene Lamb testified that she turned down the requests, after talking with senior state department officials. That must mean Hillary Clinton or Huma Abedin.

Constitutional Insurgent said...

"That must mean Hillary Clinton or Huma Abedin."

Clinton perhaps, but not Abedin. She's the Deputy Chief of Staff and aide to Clinton. That office oversees the day to day functions and engagements of the Secretary.

If guidance didn't come from Clinton, it came from the Operations Center which falls under the Executive Secretariat.

Robert Sinclair said...

Whatever hits the fan is never evenly distributed. Obama is guilty of lying to the American people. Clinton is guilty of malfeasance. Neither of these individuals is in legal jeopardy. They’re incompetence can result in the deaths of millions, and no one will ever hold them to account. To be fair, however, this standard only applies to the elite. Everyone else has to pay the piper.

Anonymous, I don't know if you're one of my frequent Anonymous commenters, but, if you're not, we welcome Democrats here, too...particularly those who talk like you do.

I know you understand that Republicans want health care reform, a mature manner which usually involves working with both sides of the aisle and consulting with doctors who actually DO HEALTH CARE; little of which was done this time with Obama Care. We can't be adopting anything that involves 60% of our economy, either. We have to be smart and helpful but not break our country.

I was a fan of the smoke-filled rooms of the past, when Senators and Congressmen lived IN D.C. and the wives knew each other, children went to the same schools, and there seemed to be a civility between the parties which is gone now. Today, nobody has to worry about running into a wife of someone he slammed at a soccer game that afternoon. It kept things kinder and people cared about each other more, I people, not just threatening opponents.
Tip O'Neal and Moynihan worked beautifully with Reagan; even the left says Obama NEVER consults his own party for advice let alone Republicans...yet the media won't tell us that truth. ....even when Chris Matthews DID, believe it or not.

Reed and Pelosi and Obama and all the Obama Harvard elitists with Socialism on their brains have to go; America isn't the same country anymore...four more years will be worse. Remember, Obama will be able to deal better with Russia this time around; which should be enough to convince any thinking AMerica to cut him loose, right?

___________ JERUSALEM ___________

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

~ William Blake (1757-1827)

What do you think Blake meant when he wrote of building JERUSALEM in England's green and pleasant land?

I'm reasonably certain he was not referring to any piece of specific territory in the Middle East.

"The Christian Church and the English Church in particular have always used Jerusalem as a metaphor for Heaven, a place of universal love and peace....sort of like "nirvana"

Yes. That is exactly what I've been driving at, Z. Thank you.

One could argue that Jesus -- as God's Eternal Word -- has always existed, and that He has been, is, and ever shall remain EVERYWHERE.

If God is, as I believe, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, He and by implication His Only Begotten Son also known as God Incarnate -- the Word made flesh -- have been with us ALWAYS.

My understanding tells me the Truth which is God surrounds all human beings waiting to be discovered and acted upon.

In those terms anything and everything that MATTERS is entirely SPIRITUAL.

Blake, who was a great mystic, saw "Jerusalem" as a STATE (condition) -- not a PLACE -- of eternal blessedness.

"Israel," "Zion," and "Jerusalem" function as metaphors or symbols for the blessing of advanced spiritual awareness and understanding.

I believe the more usual view has been tragically misleading. "By their fruits ye shall know them."

For me, God's Word is literal; God doesn't use innuendos. Jerusalem IS Jerusalem. The Jews ARE His chosen people. Non-Jews, by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Redeemer, become a part of God's chosen people and, before the End Times, MANY Jews WILL COME to God through His Son, Jesus Christ and be saved.

That's my take on it and there's really no reason for further discourse on it. We'll see who's right or wrong when the time comes.

As for me, I'll stand on the Word.
