Tonight's Presidential Debate

The Commission on Presidential Debates has approved the following topics for the Presidential Debate scheduled for 3 October 2012:

• The Economy - I

• The Economy - II

• The Economy - III

 • Health Care

• The Role of Government

• Governing

" Who here has no idea how the economy works?  Psssst... Put your hand down, sir."

Obviously, the economy is getting most of the attention with moderators hoping that they run out of time before Barack Obama gets around to announcing that he’s changed the name of his cabinet to politburo.

With that barb out of the way, pretend for a moment that Romney’s chief of staff just called you on the phone and asked you to offer advice on what Romney should say about the Economy. What would your advice be?

Perhaps he can remind the viewers how obama caterwauled about the Bush deficits while showing what it's currently.

Perhaps he can remind the viewers of all the promises obama made and failed to deliver on.

Perhaps he can remind the viewers how obama and hillary begged and groveled to the muslim world about a movie but say nothing about attacks against Christianity.

If you Liberal's think that Republicans are racists, Watch this Video!

Obama is the biggest disgrace the country has ever experienced. If he's re-elected our Republic is dead. He should be tried for treason. Unfortunately, the uneducated, dependent scum that votes for him are clueless. No idea how economics work. If you continue to take my money through more taxation ill loose the desire to work. Then what? Third World country. This is what he wants.

Thanks Views Of A Tea Party Member for that link to the video I hear everyone talking about.
He evidently was speaking to an ALL black audience, hence the "shout out" to Rev. Wright.
If this were white audience the MSM would be calling them the Klan! And and the Media should be ashamed for suppressing it for all these years.

It sure makes Romney's 47 percent comments look like the small potatoes that it really was,

All Romney needs to do is stick to the facts. They are bleak and no friends to Obama.

He should also channel Reagan and present a simple free-market message. Free markets work everywhere they're tried; central planning always fails. He should provide examples, since there are plenty.

Thanks, Tea Party guy, that was a very interesting and informative video. I say informative, because it show just how tight Obama was with the King of racism Reverend Wright and just how proud he was about having such a close relationship with the Skum and imitating Wright’s rhetoric on Katrina was. Why should anyone be surprised? Obama used every excuse in the world to explain away his relationship with Reverend Wright during campaign 2008 was a lie. It goes back to that 20 year relationship where he never heard anything. But we already knew that this is old news, news that the lefties didn’t care about when they voted for him in 2008 so why would they care now? We also see here that Obama doesn’t want to build more highways out in the suburbs. That’s news to most of us, and there’s a lot more going on in that statement than racial code.
And every time I see a 60ish white woman pass a black man on the street, I wonder if she is going to cross over to the other side or not!
And another thing, why does he speak with that black accent whenever he addresses a black audience? But this video will not change anyone's mind, if they voted for Obama when they knew all this before but wanted a black man in the office regardless, then nothing will change their stupid minds now. Or how many liberal voters care?

The Obama administration issued new guidance intended for defense contractors Friday afternoon, reiterating the administration’s position that the companies should not be issuing layoff notices over sequestration.
The Labor Department issued guidance in July saying it would be “inappropriate” for contractors to issue notices of potential layoffs tied to sequestration cuts. But a few contractors, most notably Lockheed Martin, said they still were considering whether to issue the notices — which would be sent out just days before the November election.
But the Friday guidance from the Office of Management and Budget raised the stakes in the dispute, telling contractors that they would be compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur due to contract cancellations under sequestration — but only if the contractors follow the Labor guidance.
The guidance said that if plant closings or mass layoffs occur under sequestration, then “employee compensation costs for [Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification] WARN act liability as determined by a court” would be paid for covered by the contracting federal agency.

It's Disgusting.how he just makes up his own laws to suit himself. Maybe this will wake up a few obamazombies to what they are actually voting for.

Tell Americans in two minutes how you're going to put them back to work. Focus more on that, and less on the one-liners about lower taxes.

Whatever you do, tell the truth. Remember who your audience is ... it is those individuals who regard themselves as independents and haven't yet decided whether to trust the new guy. So convince them that you deserve a chance to fix our problems. Convince them we cannot sustain another four years of a buried middle class.

Sam Huntington said...

I think Silverfiddle has it right. Obama cannot defeat the facts, even as he wishes to deflect responsibility to someone else. My question is whether the leftist moderator will try to protect Obama from himself.

I think the first debate is the most important one; if Romney loses this first one, he won't recover.

Anonymous said...

Since the debates are being run by America's Socialist News Networks, Romney should probably say that since Obama took charge, we no lomger have an economy; just a black hole that he keeps shoveling our tax dollars into ay after day.

Z said...

RWT, good point...and ask "where was that SHOVEL READY situation you promised? And why, instead, did you invest in companies which seemed to be failing?"

Views....you might want to start reading the posts and comments before calling us liberals. man

We saw the link on FOX last night...sad nobody else is running the full speech; for years now it's only been shown selectively; blocking out the racist parts, the Jeremiah-Wright-worshipping parts, etc.

Mindy...what about the ACCENT? Obama speaks sloppily the whole time... cracked me up. How about "where is he AT?"
There's some grammar for a COlumbia, Harvard man, huh? He was really laying it on THICK.

TO ALL:
Romney needs to talk FACTS but he also needs to start with some WHY? WHAT? HOW? questions that will COMPLETELY DISARM OBAMA (and wake Americans who are watching and have had the same questions), I PROMISE:

"WHY are you hiding so much in your healthcare plan about home taxes, etc., and why tell AMerica my administration will stop Medicare when we've never said that, and when Medicare has less of chance of survival under you?"

"HOW are you going to put people back to work when you did nothing about this the last four years, even the first two during which you had a Democrat congress?"

"WHY did you give tax payer money to failing GREEN companies? and then do it again?"

"WHY did you promise SHOVEL READY when there hasn't been any infrastructure building as you'd promised? And where IS the stimulus money?"

"HOW do you feel getting into debt with China so bad our children are going to suffer is a GOOD THING?"

"How did your state department ignore Stevens' feelings of threat in Benghazi and then decide to lie about his death afterwards?"

"WHY would you diss Netanyahu and invite the Muslim Brotherhood Pres of Egypt to the WHITE HOUSE and also not show Israel respect by not having your UN Ambassador and Sec of State stay for his SPEECH to the Gen. Assembly?!!"

It's virtually impossible to come back from those questions without addressing them........and Obama'd be LOST.

etc...

"pretend for a moment that Romney’s chief of staff just called you on the phone and asked you to offer advice on what Romney should say about the Economy. What would your advice be?"

1) Stick to the facts

2) Explain in clear, concise terms how the economy works; avoid esoteric language

3) Warn that by printing and borrowing money, with no [real] production to support it, will result in a "Death Spiral"

4) Expose the fact that under the present Administration (3) above is fully in play

5) Explain that fears generated by (4) above, coupled by over-regulation and under utilization of [proven] natural resources has created [uncertainty] and, therefore, reluctance of the 'investment class' to invest in "real production"

6) Explain how the Romney plan will alleviate fears of "uncertainty", held by those who standby with investment resources, by providing a clear and cogent path for investment in real, productive endeavors

7) Should the issue of "the rich (investment class) don't pay their "fair share" arise, be ready to explain that the top 25% already pay >87% of the tax and their resources will be better utlized by investment and NOT by tax increases

8) Should the excuse of "it's all Bush's fault" arise, explain that you (Romney) are interested in [proactive] solutions and NOT [retrospective] conjecture

9) While maintaining the upper-hand, exercise a pleasent demeanor so as not to appear to be beating-up on the little "Man Child"; as difficult as this may be

Z: DUH...ya THINK? Are you STUPID or just EVIL in your hate toward Aiken??

"But as Dan Amira pointed out on New York magazine's Daily Intel blog, Akin was probably referring to reports of doctors "who tell patients that they are pregnant just so they can make some money off of a phony abortion.
In other words, illegal underground abortion clinics."

z: YA THINK? You THINK that's what he just MIGHT have meant? I heard a woman a few months back on TV who worked for a "Women's Clinic" who said they FREQUENTLY told women they were pregnant and did 'abortions' on them for the $$$

Gee, or maybe a grown man is not smart enough to know you can't do a REAL abortion on someone who's not pregnant? Is THAT what the leftwingers REALLY THINK?

I happen to totally agree with what “My Conservative Thoughts”said above... I think he summed it up, perfectly.
Some of you people don`t seem like the idiots you seem to be writing like. But you are sure talking like idiots now! Why don`t You just vote for Obama and get it over with? That is exactly what you are doing and I can`t believe you are so dumb that you don`t believe Romney is better than Obama is? And if you can’t talk like you want him to win and have the confidence that he will win then just give up and get the hell out of the way. If You truly believe that you are an idiot!!! Remember Ross Perot!!!
Romney wasn`t my first choice either but He is so much better than Obama that is isn’t even a contest. All I am saying is don't under estimate Romney, and give him your support. Or would you rather Michelle Obama telling us what we should eat for another four years? We are in the middle of the Great Obama Depression. Unemployment is staggeringly high. Gas prices have doubled under his watch. The Middle East is in flames thanks to Obama’s policies, and what we just saw in Lybia should be more than enough to get him out of the White House once and for all. Ans as Clint Eastwood said a at the Convention “When someone isn’t working out, you have to let them go.” The Middle East is going up in flames and Barack Obama does not have the time to meet Benjamin Netanyahu when he came to the UN few days ago. He has more important obligations like going on The Late Show with David Letterman, and on The View.. .
I don`t like what the GOP did but We have to stick together and go with what (who) we have! Obama and Biden, Hillary, Pelosi, and Reid are pathetic serial liars and are advocating the destruction of everything this country was built on.
They are horrible people and an embarrassment to this country
Looking ahead to 4 more years of blaming Bush, bowing down to the Arabs, spending your money if you have any left? Or how bout spending most of what you make on filling up the car just to have less income left so you can stay at home. Anybody ever herd of freedom? Or freedom of speech and freedom of choice? It may come to a surprise to most people but you have less of it now then at any time in your life. Name one thing you can do without a permit or license or Government Permission ? License to drive? license to hunt or fish? Social Security Number without that how or where would you be allowed to work ever think about that? People do not think because they let others do that for them and this is how you loose control over your decision making. New York now has a limit on soft drinks School Lunches are now controlled by the Government who is Michelle Obama in case you didn’t know it. When are People Going To Wake Up? We will not lose the election because of Barack Obama and the idiots in his administration . We will not lose the election because of the fact that we can not even unite around our own candidate. And if you can’t even do that, then get the hell out of the Republican Party and join the libertarians where you belong. And vote for Ron Paul the other nut job. Good Bye! Good Riddance!

However, I'm not a robot and I have the right to mention the potentiality of him not being good tonight.

Otherwise I don't think you should vote.

Wingnuts and Moonbats said...

FB, even you saying that potentiality he would NOT be good tonight is negative.
I believe that Mitt Romney can and will win the election only if we can come out in vast numbers to show our support for him and Paul Ryan by voting in big numbers. This election is like no other election in our time. No only are moral issues are at stake but the freedoms we all are now enjoying is at stake. Freedom of speech, and choice and the things we never at all questioned before line the freedom to eat and or drink what we want to.
If you don’t come out and vote for Mitt Romney, you might as well vote for Obama. At least Romney is a man of Faith his politics may not be where we would like to see him but at least it will take us back away from the abyss we are on, that is if we work to get him elected. Romney needs to pound Obama on the issues, on the economy, on foreign policy, on immigration, and Romney can win.

Why are we worried? Because Romney has made some serious gaffs in the past --knowing full well the communist media are waiting to eat his lunch. So yeah, we are worried.

I don't have any advice for Romney. No matter how well he does, the state run media, will try to tear him down.

There are enough pundits, Dems and Republicqns who think they know best. However Romney was good enough in the primary to win, and he's not stupid!

So I'm taking a page from Nancy Reagan who said "let Reagan be Reagan".

I say, let Romney be Romney, and Ryan be Ryan. That's good enough for me!

12 Misleading Things You’ll Probably Hear At Tonight’s Debate

Tonight’s debate brings the election into its home stretch, which means the candidates will be pulling out all their best lines (or zingers, as the case may be) to try to woo voters. Here are some common misleading lines the candidates have used on the campaign trail that they’re likely to use again tonight:

1. “There’s only one president that I know of in history that robbed Medicare, $716 billion to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call Obamacare.”[CBS, 8/15/12]

The reductions included in Obamacare eliminate current over-payments to insurance companies, limit fraud and waste, and slows the growth of the program. Ryan’s budget plan called for the same cuts, but directed the money toward deficit reduction and tax cuts for the rich.

2. “Obama’s made one of America’s largest investments ever in clean coal technology.” [Politico, 8/6/12]

There is no such thing as clean coal — it’s just Obama’s rhetoric to make the product sound better. In actuality, though, coal causes disease, emits mercury, contributes to climate change, wastes water, pollutes seafood, and destroys mountains.

3. “[Obama's] policies have not helped create jobs, they have depressed them” [RNC speech, 8/30/12]

Just recently, the country hit a net job gain for the last four years. Romney cherry picks the bad numbers, ignoring the fact that Obama entered office at the depths of the biggest loss of jobs the country has experienced post-World War Two:

4. “What I would like to do is to get a tax reduction for middle income families… Middle income people will probably see a little break, because there’ll be no tax on their savings.” [60 Minutes, 9/23/12]

During his stump speeches, Romney has pledged that he won’t raise taxes on middle class Americans. But the most recent analysis of his plan shows that taxes on the middle class would increase by more than $2,000 to achieve revenue neutrality.

5. “We’re not going to have high income people pay less of the tax burden than they pay today.” [Meet the Press, 9/9/12]

The Tax Policy Center determined that Romney’s plan would cause the following: “Americans making over $1 million would see an increase in after-tax income of 4.1 percent (an $87,000 tax cut), those making between $500,000 and $1 million would see an increase of 3.2 percent (a $17,000 tax cut), and those making between $200,000 and $500,000 would see an increase of 0.8 percent (a $1,800 tax cut).”

6. “The White House proposes sequestration, kind of a gun to your head opportunity which is that congress couldn’t get the job done properly and the president couldn’t lead them..” [ABC, 9/27/12]

Romney acts outraged about the $1.2 trillion in automatic spending cuts known as the “sequester,” but his running mate actually voted for the plan. In fact, Ryan peddled the plan to the Republican caucus. After he cast that vote for sequestration, Ryan rarely mentioned the military spending cuts he and Romney now rail against.

Liberalmann said...

7. “President Obama orders religious organizations to violate their conscience” [Deseret News, 1/31/12]

Religious institutions haven’t been forced to “violate their conscience” by paying for contraception. Houses of worship and other religious nonprofits that primarily employ and serve people of the same faith will be exempt from offering birth control.

8.”We have launched a housing plan that will help responsible families facing the threat of foreclosure lower their monthly payments and refinance their mortgages.” [Address to Congress, 2/24/09]

Housing policies have been a weak point of the Obama administration. Four years after the recession began, the housing market is still floundering. Obama’s program to help “responsible families” only assisted half of struggling homeowners.

9. “I have the impression that the whole regulatory attitude of the [Obama] administration is trying to stop oil and gas and coal.” [NPR, 8/23/2012]

Coal production is up 2.3 percent in Pennsylvania and 6.7 percent in West Virginia, and coal employment is up 10 percent under Obama. On the oil front, oil imports are down and, much to the chagrin of environmentalists, oil production on public lands has grown.

10. “[Obama] added almost as much debt as all the prior presidents combined.” [NYT, 6/19/12]

Not only is this claim not true, but much of the debt comes from tax cuts and military spending — two things that Romney has attacked Obama for not supporting. It’s counter intuitive, then, that Romney would blame the Democrats for the debt problem:

11. “Under Obama’s [welfare] plan, you wouldn’t have to work and wouldn’t have to train for a job.” [Romney Campaign Ad, 8/7/12]

No one, not the person who presided over the welfare to work requirement’s inception, believes Romney’s claim that Obama removed the welfare to work requirement. The government does not “just send you a check;” rather, Governors (largely in Republican states) can apply for waivers to change their work requirements on a state-by-state basis.

12. “When you increase the number of regulations at a rate three times that of his predecessor… you don’t add jobs.” [Hot Air, 7/17/12]

Regulation hasn’t slowed down hiring. If that were true, employers would be working existing employees at maximum possible hours, and they’re not. In fact, Obama approved 613 new rules during his first 33 months, 4.7 percent fewer than Bush did in the same timespan.

Funny but a bit true :(

France's healthcare system is massively in the red and that takes a toll on the economy.

I personally think it'll take 30 years to fix the fiscal mess meaning it'll take between 5 and 10 presidents dedicated to fix it. Which means it's impossible because they work for short term fixes.

Funny but a bit true :(

At this point I think it's absurd to believe Mitt Romney himself is not going to vote for Obama.

When obama refuses to meet with the leaders of traditional allies, those being Freedom loving countries whch is America's multi-hundred year core mantra, but meets with the leader of a group who's stated goal is to kill us...
When obama puts the hurt on the middle class: Gas Prices, healthcare premiums, Everything else(cost of energy affects everything) then blabbers about how he's helping the middle class...
When he steals 5 trillion and doles it out to the unions...
When he and holder have set race relations back to the 1960's....

Romney has to speak to voters in the swing states; he has to address their concerns.

Romney has to enlighten voters about his off-shore accounts; why is it okay for Bill Clinton and not Mitt Romney?

Romney has to explain that 47% remark, which I'm sure Obama will bring up.

Romney has to specifically say how he plans to put Americans back to work. Vague ideas won't work.

Romney has to address the ruinous Obama health care scam.

But I like Kid's idea about a duel without bicycle helmets, but only after Romney get's Obama to sign his pardon.

Excellent!!"

I think that's excellent too...says a LOT.

I thought Romney was very earnest and cleaned Obama's clock with facts, which my friend Rich Galen says in his Mullings.com report here:

http://www.mullings.com/

Rich is quite even handed, though he's definitely a Conservative, so I think his analysis is very important.

I don't call Obama a "conservative." I simply fine tooth comb the left-wing and find him to be much closer to the right than Romney.

Defend obama? You Support obama. obama Hates the constitution and has no use for it. The very definition of conservative is For the Constitution.

I don't support Obama. I just see no point in damaging the Constitution further by electing someone so far to Obama's left he needs binoculars to see him.

Nor do I see much point in joining your flag-high march over the side of the cliff for a candidate with Romney's record just because you've worked yourself up into a frenzy calling him a "conservative."

Beam, you still haven't answered the question.

- But Ok, tell me what obama has done that makes him appear to be on the the right.

- Explain how and why you think Romney is going to damage the constitution.

- I never called Romney a conservative. Show me.

- Dude, obama recently said that American Officials murdered by islamic are nothing more than bumps in the road. Can you compare that to some comment about free markets and regulations. If that's what he said. I didn't watch. Free markets are generally deregulated.

Tell me what's worse in the world of conservatism; having some additional regulations (I don't believe it will happen) or having someone putting racist buffoons with no experience(kagan) and horrible track records(sotomayer with the 65% overturn rate) on the supreme court.

We don't know what Romney will do regards the military, but could he do possibly worse than denying military people their voting rights while they out in some hellhole for America.
Or how the hihgest numbers of military are being slaughtered in A-stan by a taliban that obama emboldened by specifying and exit date while obama mentions or cares about it Not.

Seriously, tell me about how obama does anything that would resemble someone on the right.

You might find this site interesting.

http://www.issues2000.org/2012.htm

It maps political figures on a social and economic issues to define them as conservative / liberal / libertarian / populist.

It shows Romney well to the right of Obama (no surprise); however, Beamish may feel vindicated that Obama is closer to the libertarian quadrant while Romney tends toward populist. Romney loses libertarian points for such positions as favoring school prayer, favoring the death penalty, opposing abortion, and favoring enforcement of drug laws.

If we consider economic issues only, Romney stands to the right--and to the libertarian side-- of Obama (or in some cases less to the left) for views on privatizing social security, government spending on health care, free trade, and energy sources.

Because conservatives and libertarians are the readymade scapegoats for when Obama trounces him next month.

Because you're missing the point.

Four years, eight years of Obama, this damage can be undone. What are you going to do about the 69+ million people who thought it was a good idea to elect a staple gun loading nitwit President in the first place? That damage existed before Obama.

What are you going to do to promote conservative views in our country? Gay marriage? Judicially usurping parental rights so 13 year old girls can get abortions? Government union jobs for illegal immigrants? These are your "conservative" values? They sure as @#$@ ain't mine.

Plus who cares about gay marriage when obama is destroying the country form within and without. he's pro-communism -(he must wait til after the election to make an unknown Deal with Russia.) Does that not concern you?

Words fail me in expressing just how utterly unconcerned I am with your buffoonish pseudo-eschatological ramifications of the "communist" Obama making deals, secret or otherwise, with a post-communist has been nation with a GDP almost big enough to compare with our failed state of California.

Beam, since I'm bored.

- Trial lawyers are the enemy of health care costs in America and not a single politician has brought that up. Ever.
I know it to be true. That makes me a super duper libertarian-neocon incredible person.
- everyone (and you just did) talks about social security recipients and medicare recipients (I'm Neither) like they are sucking the country dry.

1. Many of the SS recipients paid in the to system all their working lives. Some did not, ditto medicare. How is that an Entitlement?
How did we go from "Personal Retirement Accounts" as SS was introduced to "Entitlement" when people only paid more into the system since it was initiated?

LBJ of course. Stole the SS money to start welfare, so in his words "He'd have those N------- voting for democrats for the next 50 years"

I'm not saying republicans are angels, but you have the gaul to compare repubs to democrats? Dude only 3 of the suckers were needed to destroy America. LBJ and the moron Carter. It was done after that. clinton was icing for them and obama is doing nothing but turning the knives in the wounds.

2. Compare that to the Public Union workers who suck tax money like the million gallon per minute pumps sent to empty out lower New Orleans.

They suck the money while they're working and far too many of them are hired for any given position and location (A local township here recently let go 90 "firefighters", keeping 13 and calling it good. Too many people on the role perhaps?
Ditto Lakota School district. Let go 100 teachers and NINETY (90) "administrators" and called it good.
Extrapolate that across the country.

Anyway, these people by and large retire at 50, or are put on light duty (eating donuts) and go on a 35 year vacation on Your Dime and THEY DON'T PAY *ANYTHING* INTO THE SYSTEM. They don't pay into their bennies, and they don't pay into their pensions. I think they're a much bigger problem.

But yea, I think a little SS and medicare reform is called for too. It was never meant to be a retirement package.

I think you should reconsider social security, medicare, VA, whatever, compared to the public union massive black hole.

Some thoughts for ya.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...
