a Park Ranger speaks about the "shut down"...........

Our government has told park rangers to "make life as difficult as possible for people."

What do you think of that?  I just heard it on the news and had to blog it here.

Do you all understand what this means?  The hate, the exaggeration, and nastiness of this administration?

Are they KIDDING?

It just goes to show that Chicago Thug Politics knows no limit as to how low it will go. I just heard our FRAUD-in-Chief say how none of our problems are his fault and what a "calm" guy he is bla, bla, bla--BARF! People who elected that POS, and those of his ilk, are no better than thugs themselves. You know who you are!

Ducky, good try.
Would you have the same reaction if Bush's people had done this?
You DOUBT this after all that's happened?
Odd Clinton didn't close these places down..nothing to 'close'..costed more to put up barriers than leave it alone.
Come to think of it, that's kind of a metaphor for Obama's economy.

JonBerg....it's awful.

This information was discussed on CNN...Fredericka did her best to talk over the guy telling them the story, but it's known.

Come to think of it, it's pretty sad that, yet again, only more right-leaning papers are carrying his story.
Talk about a puck and a net, Ducky.

Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban... of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.

The Shenandoah Nat'l Park is pretty much in my back yard....so today we decided to go hiking...park closure be damned. There's a lot of trails into the park. We traveled down to the White Oak Canyon Lower Trail parking lot....way out in the middle of nowhere. And there was a Park Ranger stationed at the lot. We're talking about a 10 car gravel lot.

We drove around to another location, one we knew traveled through private [but accessible] land before it enters the park, and had no issue. But they had a sign posted where the park boundary was, and a Ranger had left a printed note on a vehicle at the trail head, stating that the park was closed.

We're frequent visitors to the SNP, and to us it certainly looked like, closed or not, they were spending quite a bit of money that they typically wouldn't.

Some shutdown.

Via William Jacobson, NBC's affiliate in Washington, D.C. reports that police ordered tourists and Vietnam war veterans who were visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to leave the memorial at one point on Friday.

After one group of veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall was closed," NBC's Mark Seagraves reported. "Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That's when police came and moved everyone out."

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is a black granite outdoor wall on which the names of the 58,272 service members who died or were unaccounted for during the Vietnam war are inscribed.

It takes more manpower and costs the government more money to close down an outdoor wall than to let people walk past it and pay their respects.

The Obama administration has been very selective in devoting resources to shutting down memorials.

Sam, we used to joke about leftwingers like Obama, now here we are....yes, some 'land of the free'.

One just can't be this thin skinned and insulting in speeches and be president. so sad

Thersites....what's THAT about? How can it cost anything to CROSS THE WATER?

Ducky, don't look now, but you're making a total ass of yourself in your indignation. The cat's out of the bag.

Pris, that's right. He did NOT do this then.
You should have heard the conversation between Fredericka (I think it's )Whitfield on CNN and a fabulous Congressman Scott Garett of NJ, whom I'd never heard of before. But I took notice today.
FW couldn't deny it, and never did, but she sure got cross and spoke louder and louder, saying "Yes, well...well........." as Garrett reminded her of exactly that "Clinton didn't close these down...and why close down acres of grass?" I wish I could remember all I said. He is exactly the type of congressman America needs to get the truth out there and NOT be stymied by the louder-mouthed leftwingers who just can't take the truth.

CI...you agree this is nothing but spite and making the shut down as painful as possible, or obvious as possible to the American people?

FJ: that's exactly right; way more expensive to hire guards and print material and put up barricades than it is to just let people SEE the monument. My GOD, why don't some lefties see that??

Z said...

Apparently, per Joe Conservative's link, a NYT's reporter is ragging on Obama's admin, too....even they're getting stunned by this guy and his minions.

WHAT IT WILL TAKE, AND MANY OF US HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR THIS, IS THAT SOME LEFTWINGER WHO FINALLY UNDERSTANDS THIS ADMINISTRATION WILL SPEAK OUT UN-ANONYMOUSLY AND TELL THE TRUTH.

SOME media type who'll come forward and say "THIS is the proof of what I'm seeing...we have to pay attention."

I don't think this NYTs reporter is even a start, but it's something.

They're scared! If you don't march in lockstep, you don't get HIRED as a journalist.

A friend of mine's on the Board of the Heritage Foundation and I asked Wendy "WHY don't you spend money training and facilitating Conservative young journalists!??"

She said "they don't get hired, Z...they simply don't get hired."

this is the "big open mind" the left likes to tout.

Pris said...

Z, I'm glad to hear from you, about that conversation. This truth should be out there!

The lefties love this crap though. They figure the Republicans will be blamed for all of it. Maybe, and maybe not!

Z said...

Some pundits are saying that obama LOVES the shut down...the more painful to the public the better; why else close down monuments that don't practically cost anything to keep open?

HE WANTS TO WIN THE 2014 ELECTIONS MORE THAN ANYTHING. HE CAN COMPLETELY CHANGE AMERICA, GIVE IN TO THE CLIMATE CHANGE GOONS AND WE'LL NEVER BE THE SAME IF HE HAS NOBODY FIGHTING FOR THE TRUTH!\
(regardless of the fact that even the UN goon scientists admit they can't explain the last 15 years of unexpected weather than they'd predicted! :-) oops!)

Ya, this "stop the shut down" isn't about the shut down on his part...he SAYS that to remind people of the shut down they're HONESTLY not feeling A THING from in their personal lives..he's GOT to keep it alive. Keep himself RIGHTEOUS, keep it PAINFUL and "he's so angry at the Republicans!":)

He's GOT to call Republicans hideously insulting things, Reid does, too...that's his job. There's a new ad showing Boehner crying and extrapolating on that. Oh, they'll stop at nothing.

they MUST win 2014.
And they probably will at this pace. Americans really don't give a damn

I’m not worried; it could not get any worse. Besides, all elections are local and even though the news channels may be spewing out the worst propaganda, the fact is that the average American has the memory of a gnat and won’t remember anything about a shut down or debt crisis. But, on the day prior to going to the polls, if the democratic candidates offer’s them a free iPad, a bottle of whiskey, and a carton of cigarettes … well, suddenly these people will become America's staunchest patriots and vote for whomever Obama tells them too.

So let’s assume that the Democrats own both houses of Congress after the elections of 2014, what would that mean for the USA? Would it mean we are going to become a communist state? Well too late … we’re already there. And don’t forget, the KGB (er., NSA) is reading this blog. So, watch it Sister.

INTERESTING NOTE:

A friend sent me an email with two links. About the park service ranger who made the post's comment; I clicked on her Washington Times link and I froze so badly I had to reboot and it took me 10 minutes to be up and running again. Not realizing it was the link's fault, thinking it was something I did, I clicked again once I was up... and it said "THIS STORY NO LONGER AVAILABLE"...and the other froze me again for a few minutes and immediately threw me out of my browser and suddenly I was staring at my Outlook inbox again. VERY weird.

Man, this is quite something...I feel like we're living in 1930's Germany.

Kid, I thought the R's were out there strictly for photo ops until I realized they've been there every day trying to help the Vets. Someone has to.

Ed..think that'll happen?
They'll all be arrested!!

Kid said...

Z, 1)what opposition are the R's providing? What have they kept the dems from doing? 1a) Do you think they've made themselves skapegoats more than anything else, allowing obama to blame dissatisfaction with government on the R's ?

- Are the R's opening the barricades and letting them in? I saw a little news this morning and the vets were all outside the barricade. Hence my stance.

Sorry Z, I'm scoring them in negative numbers these days.

A friend sent me this tonight...

"Far from being a “new kind of politician” (as you were advertised), you are the most political politician this country has ever seen. You are political to your core, in your essence, at an atomic level, and so you are unable to offer any direction or clarity when the nation needs it most. Sometimes, Mr. President, the affairs of this nation require a man, not a politician, and it is during those times that you are especially useless. You don’t have any interest in fixing our present crisis because you’re too busy finding ways to keep a busload of 90 year old war veterans from looking at a memorial.
Closing down parks, monuments and memorials just to score political points is hardly your most insidious deed, but it’s certainly one of your pettiest. That’s why it stands, ironically, as a monument of its own. If we ever build a statue of you, Mr. President, you won’t be triumphantly holding a flaming torch like Lady Liberty, or standing authoritatively with a look of determination, like the MLK memorial. No, it will be a statue of you pulling the wings off of a fly, or spitting in someone’s orange juice. It will show you in your essence, as monuments are meant to do. It will show you as a petulant, skulking, juvenile bully. It will you show you as you are.
And we’ll make sure it’s always open, especially during a government shut down."

Z said...

Kid, I agree with you 1000%, I only said I have seen Republicans there every day on the news with the Vets.
The vets DID get in again today...I'm sure of it. At least I heard that on news this afternoon.

Yes, they're total scapegoats for the media and this 'government' to use; see my comment above; there's word Obama LOVES this shut down because he can blame the WHOLE THING on the R's for the 2014 elections to go his way.

I heard him yesterday say how he's so fair and calm and some other stuff I guffawed out loud about.

Fair? A president who so totally INSULTS FOX and any other entity that dares to criticize? It's laughable.

But, HE KNOWS he can say ANYTHING and people hear it and believe him. And most media will not stand up to him and the conservative media's so maligned that only we are listening.

Get a load of this:

"The U.S. military has furloughed as many as 50 Catholic chaplains due to the partial suspension of government services, banning them from celebrating weekend Mass. At least one chaplain was told that if he engaged in any ministry activity, he would be subjected to disciplinary action.

“In very practical terms it means Sunday Mass won’t be offered,” Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services told me. “If someone has a baptism scheduled, it won’t be celebrated.”

The Archdiocese for the Military Services tells me the military installations impacted are served by non-active-duty priests who were hired as government contractors. As a result of a shortage of active duty Catholic chaplains, the government hires contract priests.

A well-placed source told me that a furloughed Air Force chaplain was threatened after he offered to forgo pay.

Broglio said some military bases have forbidden the contract priests from volunteering to celebrate Mass without pay.

“They were told they cannot function because those are contracted services and since there’s no funding they can’t do it – even if they volunteer,” he said.

EVEN IF THEY VOLUNTEER. "EVEN IF THEY VOLUNTEER".
GET IT, folks? GET IT? What would that cost the gov't?

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they're being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They've been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn't an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they've owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

Z said...

Well, the Obama people have been told to make it as difficult as possible for people; don't forget, the 'average joe' isn't feeling a thing from the shutdown personally...and they must get a REAL BIG ANGER BUILDING toward the Republicans for the 2014 elections; and this is probably going to work.

Near MOUNT PISGAH, N.C. — At a spot 5,000 feet above sea level and 20 miles from the nearest town, an innkeeper decided Friday to defy the federal government and reopen his lodge. That stand lasted about two hours as National Park Service rangers blocked the entrances to the privately run Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway after owner Bruce O´Connell decided to reopen his dining room, gift shop and country store at noon Friday for lunch. The federal government had forced the inn, in a leased building on federal land, to shut down at 6 p.m. ET Thursday.

National Park Service officials blocked parking lots to George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Estate and Gardens after the government shutdown this week. There’s just one problem. The historic site is privately owned and funded.

Park police blocked the lots “due to a misunderstanding over the ownership of the spaces,” according to Melissa Wood, Mt. Vernon’s media director. Officials approached the park police and explained the situation. They then removed their barricades “as soon as they realized their mistake,” Wood said.

The Park Service does maintain the Mt. Vernon parking lots, but the property is privately owned by the Mt. Vernon Ladies’ Association. Neither the group nor the plantation receive any government funding.

For the second time this year, local canoe liveries are without a paddle after the National Park Service closed access to the Delaware River.

In April, when the federal government implemented sequestration and ordered federal agencies to reduce annual budgets by 5 percent, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, operated by the National Park Service, closed two key boat launches: Milford Beach and Kittatinny Point.

A backlash from canoe liveries was quelled when public donations came in to keep the boat launches open. PSE&G Foundation donated $50,000, and livery operators gave $20,000 to keep Kittatinny Point open for the season. And pipeline company Kinder Morgan donated $41,000 to keep Milford Beach open for the season.

But the season is not over. There are at least three weeks of brilliant fall foliage for paddlers to enjoy.

But because of the government shutdown, the Park Service has now closed all river accesses in the recreation area.
It is unknown whether the donors who paid to keep launches open will get some of their money back.

There was no one from the Park Service to answer that question Wednesday, as most its employees, including Superintendent John Donahue, have been furloughed.

As Columbus Day weekend approaches and New England fall foliage reaches its peak, the U.S. Forest Service has decreed that 22 privately run campgrounds in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest will have to close because of the government shutdown.

According to the Union Leader, while the campsites are situated on federally owned land, they are entirely run by a private company, which has a contract to operate the sites and which pays the federal government a cut of the fees it collects. That means the closure will not only prevent thousands of campers from using the facilities, it will actually cost the federal government money it would have collected if it had simply done nothing.

Kent Tower, the president of the company that runs the campsites, told the Union Leader that the federal government does not contribute anything to running or staffing the sites. “We pay all the maintenance, all the upkeep, all the help, all the insurance,” he said. “All the trucks, all the equipment is ours. They have nothing to do with it.”
