These were taken the other day in Olympia, Washington. I'm sorry the middle shot looks muddled; the way I got it the leaves were as clear as in the other shots. Are these not gorgeous? I had to share them.
Sometimes, "RED" IS good :-)

God makes some BEAUTIFUL colors! I love the ones on the ground. It looks just like carpet. Our trees turn, but they just go to yellow, and then brown and drop off the trees.
Z - Thanks for the beautiful pictures. We are getting some good fall colors now. I always look forward to that.
Sometime you just have to shoot in color.
Beautiful.
I so wish I could see this kind of foliage.
stunning!
There must be a combination of elements that come together that produce the really vivid color - Temp, Moisture, tree life cycle, etc. Some years in this area, the color is truly stunning. Other years it is more like Linda describes it.
This year is not a great one for color. Oh woe is me.
My street. Almost.
We just drove through Pennsylvania and Connecticut to see our new grandaughter.
The trees looked like that or so.
She was prettier.
@Kid.
Right you are...temp's moisture, humidity all have an effect of the colors. It's a delicate balance though as it was explained tome.
IMP, Is Constant Beauty simply too much to ask for? Really?
Without some people it would be.
imp, explain that :-)
I'm SO GLAD You all enjoyed the beautiful picutres..
Ed, I simply can't IMAGINE driving through that kind of foliage...it's breathtaking!
I remember driving in Germany from the chapel to my stepdaughter's wedding reception and the reception was in a little inn waaaay up in the mountains and we drove through GORGEOUS foliage and I remember feeling like I was in an automobile ad!
Being a California girl, I haven't seen much changing of the trees. BUT, we have had a LOT MORE in the last 10 years than EVER in my life...isn't that weird?
There are two streets nearby I'll go out of my way to drive down because they are maple-lined...lovely ...for LA foliage!
The top shot is definitely the pick of the litter.
The curve in the road creates a nice rhythm.
