Economic Equality

When liberals talk about ECONOMIC FAIRNESS or FINANCIAL EQUALITY, and talk about how unfair America is because we don't have equality of income, what do they mean?   Do they mean everybody should get $65,000 a year no matter what?      Where's that money supposed to come from?
Do some people not understand that everybody can't do work that is even worth $65,000?  Then what?  Keep raising the amount of money they get so they don't feel bad?

Help me out here.........

Larry Johnson said “Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own BLACK team, and our own League! “

I rarely comment, however I think this point needs to be heard. This statement does NOT help any cause or progress to move away from racism. Let me flip the coin…What would happen if a white guy came out and said that white people should have their own league, what reaction would that get? We all know the reaction that it will get…So why is it okay for him to make a comment that a league should be formed with all black people? Please someone tell me how this is not discriminatory?
On another note,
Like most, I too hate the way black people often speak. However, you must know that it actually has nothing to do with race, but it’s mainly influenced by their peers. . Black people, are easily influenced, because most of them lack higher education. . When I see
black people on television using gutter-level vocabulary to "sing" about how shallow and depraved their lives are, or how they want to Rape, or Murder, I get the feeling that they feel that they must speak the same way in order to identify with the rest of their race. Unfortunately, this reflects negatively even on those of them who do not want to be associated with this stereotype street jerk. Being raised in Harlem, New York, is not the requisite for poor grammar, and lousy manners. Or looking and acting like an un-educated clown. .

$65,000?

I've never worked a job that pays that much. Private education has a much lower pay scale than public education.

Do some people not understand that everybody can't do work that is even worth $65,000?

Everybody thinks that he's worth being paid more, right?

You should be able to say anything in this world behind doors without the African American throwing the racists card out.

Did you read what that pea brain Idiot Larry Johnson said? He said, “NBA Players Should Form An All-Black Basketball League With Only Black Owners”
LOL, If they did that the league would be bankrupt in 6 months.
If the blacks want to start an all black league wouldn’t that negate everything that MLK, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan, etc. had fought for during the civil rights movement and Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier? Shouldn’t it be able equality for all? It’s not like the white players didn’t protest with their black teammates? It’s like burning or banning books, it just doesn’t make sense. Besides, they already have their own “Black: league, it’s called the NBA.

Well then maybe they should have their own restrooms and ride their own buses and their own restaurants and their own “Oprah network.” Ohhh wait one minute that’s segregation that won’t work, that’s what the White Boy’s done already did.

Z - Economic equality can't mean that everyone gets the same salary. But there could be more fairness - although I don't know how that would work.

For instance - it doesn't seem right that pro athletes earn so much and teachers don't. That's just the way it goes in the world of finances.

I have a dear friend who is a CNA with multiple certifications. The job pays about $10/hour. And what she does allows disabled individuals to remain in their homes and out of nursing homes -- and off the most expensive kind of Medicaid (nursing homes).

CNA's do more to serve "the public good" than athletes.

Just my two cents on the underpaid.

Always On Watch said...

BTW, when I needed a caregiver after my recent surgery for retinal detachment, 10 days of 24/7 care cost me $5000 -- at that was cheap because I hired a trusted, to whom I could hand over the checkbook, the credit card, the laundry, the meal preparation, pet care, etc. The going rate for that same care in $5400 and up. In my case, my friend took care of both Mr. AOW and me -- so she should have been earning at least $10,800 for the care she provided.

Most health insurance policies do not pay CNA's. The expense comes out of the patient's pocket or the taxpayers' pockets.

Sue Hanes:

Ed Bonderenka's right, and let me try and explain why things work this 'unfair' way: supply and demand.

Without going into a serious class regarding microeconomics, all of this is really simple.

How many 6'11" people are available that can run up and down a court for 44 minutes at top speed, then slam dunk over another 6'11" guy trying to prevent such a move?

Very, VERY few. The demand for high quality sporting events such as the product the NBA provides is insatiable, virtually. Only a handful of people on the planet, perhaps several thousand, tops, can play at this level. Accordingly, the guys that can do the above are handsomely rewarded.

On the other hand, how many people have the skills it takes to slog their way through a bachelor's degree in education, and then obtain a teaching certification?

Virtually half the population of the world have the skill sets to do this. Several BILLION people could qualify as a public school teacher, Sue, if they put their minds to do so.

Accordingly, their salaries are significantly lower than an NBA player.

I can't explain this immutable, God's honest truth any better, Sue.

Yes, liberals truly believe that everybody should live well above the poverty line, regardless of their ability to please their fellow man (or woman) with skills that benefit society.

Remember Karl Marx's infamous creed penned in his infamous manifesto 'Das Kapital': 'from those according to their ability; to those according to their need.'

On paper, that garbage certainly sounds good. Who could possibly deny a person in need? What kind of ogres look the other way when a person in need stretches out their raggedy arms for help?

And what kind of monsters who have so much would hoard and hide the excessive wealth they have accumulated unfairly, while the poorest among us suffer?

Or at least, that is the sentiment that Karl Marx and his disciples would posit.

Unfortunately, we all live in a real world, and not in a paper world. If you want to eat, you have to work.

Period.

But, alas, the liberal will have no such gibberish. It is unfair, you see, to allow any want or need to go unfulfilled in this land of bounty.

Therefore, yes, they believe everybody should make $65K annually. It's only fair.

And yes, they do not have any clue as to how to make this come about, other than to force those who, accordingly to their ability, transfer their wealth to those, according to their need, by the force of government. In other words, via the barrel of a gun.

And this kind of society has been tried and failed innumerable times throughout history.

It just can't work. It won't work. That's not how things are.

To those truly needy, civilized societies have charities to extend helping hands. Churches, Synagogues, Mosques all serve this function. People of good will provide voluntary support to this end.

I could go on, but I won't.

"And what kind of monsters who have so much would hoard and hide the excessive wealth they have accumulated unfairly, while the poorest among us suffer?

Actually, no. God and His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, share that sentiment (I apologize if you're not a Christian, then I understand why you would not know this):

Deuteronomy 15:11

For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

"But, alas, the liberal will have no such gibberish. It is unfair, you see, to allow any want or need to go unfulfilled in this land of bounty."

Mark 10:21-22 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.

Is it Marxism or was it Jesus Christ who commanded that those who have so much should share with our brothers and sisters who have so little and are in need?

And we keep throwing javelins at each other... Thinking somehow that will result in a better America.

It won't. Ultimately compromise is only way our republic can function as designed.

It matters not what Sterling said prior to making his racist remarks. If you can go back and find some preface remarks Hitler made prior to killing 6 million Jews, I guess we'd have to forgive and forget that, too.

And I'm not comparing Sterling to Hitler, for Christ's sake, thought he’s close to it, just saying you can't undo what he said by finding something soothing he might have uttered earlier.

Personally, I don't understand why there's been such a fuss of a billionaire acting like a bigoted asshole. Hard to find one who doesn't. He's not murdering anyone, isn't actively poisoning the planet and paying others to deny the science behind their accusations (ala Koch Bros). He's just a rich old white conservative or republican, or teabagger, bigot with a big mouth.

Z said...

Moonbat; however those folks from Harlem spoke on FOX last night, most of them showed a LOT of common sense and touching forgiveness of Sterling's comments...including "no, not all white people are like that!"

You're right...they were not elegantly spoken, but they had common sense and wisdom; even one woman who was all for the black team idea had the grace and humor to giggle when Watters said to her "But wouldn't that be discrimination?" She was adorable and shrugged and had to admit he was right.

AOW...but I think my point is an important one. We can't keep raising pay for people who don't deserve it....no matter WHAT dems would like to do. And how VERY KIND it sounds.

Jackie Robinson was an amazing man and I am glad he's not around to see ANY of this situation....particularly the suggestion of an all black team; not after all HE went through to finally break the color barrier.

Sue and AOW: I TOTALLY agree that teachers should make more than athletes; sadly, there isn't much profit in teaching for those above the teachers; though one would THINK teaching our children WELL is the best PROFIT.

Rational Nation: Some of us think that big government is bad for our country and that cover-ups aren't great, and that the media should be fairly representing the truth, not Obama's cause.
So, I think we've got pretty good reason to not go along with the left.
But I do not see how we're going to come out of this whole unless both parties start working together. I remember when even Chris Matthews was whining that Obama listens to no one, not even his Democrat senior senators.
We need to stop being misrepresented and to have the truth ...unlike what Carney did this morning by taking constant potshots at the Right for trying to get to the Benghazi truth. Man, Jay Carney is VERY good, I have to admit. scary, almost.

Squatlo...your Koch Bros comment betrayed you.. sorry. Maybe you need to look into the man who's paying Democrats to push global warming, okay? Thanks.

Mr. Anonymous; Can you tell us where Jesus said people should be forced by their government to give up their hard won earnings? or wasn't it more that we give from the love in our Christian hearts? ya, I think that's it.
Thanks for coming by.

Fredd...ya, thanks; I think my post got it right, too. Glad you agree.

As I said when z first put this up a lot depends on differentiating between use and exchange value.

As an example, education has a use value but it also has a very high exchange value.
You can make serious money by controlling education. Right now higher education has been largely privatized and huge costs extracted and they are coming for primary and secondary education.

So we have a decision about how to distribute that use value of education more equitably. Right now we are more concerned with extracting profit.

It isn't so much a matter of making incomes equal (a foolish goal) as it is of making essentials like health insurance, education and housing more equally distributed. And as long as we go the route of low taxes on those extracting a lot from the system without taxation we aren't going to even start the process. Why not tax and make improve public education? It can be done but we have to be focused on that goal rather than privatization.

Or you can wait until you're bled dry. Another possibility which will happen as things are going.

You took my 'what kind of monsters..' quote out of context. If you re-read the comment, you will note that I wrote this as if spoken by a pie in the sky liberal and how they would see things.

And you note that BOTH Karl Marx and Jesus bemoaned the rich not sharing with the poor. They did indeed share that concern, but Jesus did not MANDATE sharing by the rich with the poor, but rather implored doing so via a moral argument, with failure to do so getting brought up by St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.

Marx would forcibly TAKE the earthly wealth from those rich guys and redistribute it to the poor guys, all the while looking down the barrel of a gun at them.

Big difference. Or, as Donal Trump would say, 'YOOGE difference.'

But Fredd, Hoover thought private charity would resolve the issues of the depression.

Of course it didn't and the right is very loath to explore this part of our history.

He realized he was wrong and seized property from Latinos in California in a mass deportation that included citizens who had lived there for generations but we don't took at that either.

So let me point at that as important as charity might be it is an incomplete solution. Unfortunately, as the right foolishly tries to pass it off as a panacea without addressing the structural issues it becomes less effective.
Pretty lousy strategy.

No, Ducky....my mind is just more nuanced than yours.
"Screw the rich" stands for so much. Every day, regulations, innuendos that doing well is wrong...
If you can't catch up, it's not my fault.

QED

By the way...I don't want to 'adjust'..I want my country back; full of people who knew not everybody was going to be as rich as George Soros or the Koch Brothers but everybody knew they had a chance through hard work.
I want my country back which allowed for faith based places to truly help the poor because faith hadn't yet become unpopular with the 'new academic mind' which disallowed for it, cutting the amount of congregants down to where churches quite simply can't help as much anymore.
I remember the country where people weren't so selfish that they didn't want older family members living with them.

Think nuance ...it's utterly silly to take 'screw the rich' on its face value. I haven't the time or energy to write every single little thing down that that's a metaphor for for.....wish I hadn't now. Wish you'd get it all by your lonesome.

skudrunner said...

The liberal left has provided a base for inequality especially with minorities.

The leftist leader is all about an increase in minimum wage not an increase in skill level. He is all about increasing unemployment but little about creating employment.

Unemployment of minorities and youth is the highest in post depression history.

There is a greater increase in the poor going on welfare/food stamps than there is the poor going to work.

There is no effort by the current incompetent incumbent to promote two parent households and parents teaching personal responsibility to their children. He stands against legal gun ownership but says nothing to the gangs killing each other.

His administration has been caught in another lie about bengazi, that made up scandal thing. Wonder how long it will be before he makes a statement about that. Sorry forgot, he only makes statements about racial issues.

Z said...

Skudrunner, I agree with you. I read particularly with interest your statements about what he IS doing and what would be so much more helpful. You're 100% correct.

He is the racist who sells short minorities: A friend of mine was joking today about how her white, well educated friends are suggesting all their friends only have one child because it's so much easier. (typical of the new America, right? Lazy, easy)....
She said friends were joking about minorities on the increase and America won't be America because they're not adapting to the culture we created which MADE THEM WANT TO COME HERE.

I thought about that and reminded her that I didn't think minorities were any less stupid than any of US and that perhaps with the better educations their children are getting here, it won't be a mess for the next generation .... I have to admit the sections of LA overrun by Hispanics are not nice, not clean, but I do see families walking to school, children holding parents' hands, and SO clean and so sweet and, VERY often, speaking English.

That thought was rather new to me, that they're being better educated and will not be such a drag on us economically in the future....but, if the left, as Obama's doing, raises the children to EXPECT from white America, we're in trouble.

And I suppose that harkens back to my question of WHO IS PAYING FOR THE GOODIES? THe 'entitlements' whose title very sneakily changed from WELFARE to ENTITLEMENTS (ANYBODY NOTICE THAT!?...THINK IT'S AN ACCIDENT?)
Minorities will find out it's on THEIR shoulders now to carry on paying for those who haven't got enough. Let's see how that goes.

A big YES to Fredd and Lisa.

The ignorascenti on this issue are clueless about where money and value come from. And they are usually terribly misinformed about how much 'the rich' contribute which adds to feelings of victimization fanned by agenda-laden media.

2 examples:

1. Survey in NYC asked what seemed mostly to be millenials how much they thought the top 1%, who make 19% of the income, should pay in taxes and how much they did pay in taxes. The shocking answers were commonly: they should pay 20% and I think they pay 5%.

When informed they pay 40% one respondent shrugged, 'well they should pay more then.' How do we overcome that level of ignorance and selfishness?

2. A co-worker, a stable middle class male in his salad earning years, absolutely refused to believe similar facts in a discussion with me.

This is a man I had a long and excellent business relationship with, one based on a high level of competence and trust. He seriously challenged my facts which I had read that week and were derived from actual IRS returns - gov't data, in other words. His final response: "I just don't believe it."

Allen Bloom's book comes to mind: The Closing of the American Mind and how higher education (a generation ago!) has burned through our republic's brightest minds like Sherman through Georgia - laying them waste.

Well, well, well. What do we have here? It appears that the narrative of Benghazi being a "spontaneous protest brought on by a video" was the work of none other than White House officials.

Newly released emails on the Benghazi terror attack suggest a senior White House aide played a central role in preparing former U.N. ambassador Susan Rice for her controversial Sunday show appearances -- where she wrongly blamed protests over an Internet video.

More than 100 pages of documents were released to the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. Among them was a Sept. 14, 2012, email from Ben Rhodes, an assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for strategic communications.

The Rhodes email, with the subject line: "RE: PREP Call with Susan: Saturday at 4:00 pm ET," was sent to a dozen members of the administration's inner circle, including key members of the White House communications team such as Press Secretary Jay Carney.

In the email, Rhodes specifically draws attention to the anti-Islam Internet video, without distinguishing whether the Benghazi attack was different from protests elsewhere.

The email lists the following two goals, among others:

"To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy."

"To reinforce the President and Administration's strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges."

The email goes on to state that the U.S. government rejected the message of the Internet video. "We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence," the email stated

Great comments, Ed.

Sue: "For instance - it doesn't seem right that pro athletes earn so much and teachers don't. That's just the way it goes in the world of finances."

As Fredd and other explained, some professional athletes EARN huge amounts of money because their presence in an arena and their skill levels are worth watching. That's why team owners throw millions of dollars to NBA, NFL, and MLB players. Well, the ones that are really good.

Ducky: Did you say that these players extracted more from the system than others? Actually, the system throws money at them, even the people at the bottom of the money ladder throw money at professional basketball, football, and baseball players. What's wrong with that?

Anybody that is in the top 1% or earners in the country has undoubtedly been worth their pay in some way, otherwise, they would not have received the money. Even in the case of the super rich. Their money is at work, creating economic activity just by the act of investing. You can say they don't deserve the money, but they do. I don't understand why liberals like you are so jealous of successful people.

Free AND getting a couple thou a month (literally...Hamburg and Frankfurt are almost broke, but our media doesn't want you to know what I'm hearing from my German stepson here on a visit..it's hideous, and muslims are taking over with big signs that read "you're paying for us and we're taking over"...and the Germans are afraid to act at all but keep doling out the money)...

it was such a beautiful world when the expensive shops were thriving, the rich owned them, the less rich bought there, and the even less rich had jobs because of the shops.

I'll never ever forget Obama suggesting that some people have made ENOUGH MONEY. Where does he get OFF?
Then to teach our children this country isn't fair and the innuendos every single DAY.

Man, talk about innuendo; rent ARCTIC TALE some time...a kid's film of polar bears and seals....so cute......until the very subtle but conniving global warming message starts...SO subtle. I finally had to stop the film and give the other side to a class of high schoolers yesterday..very carefully, calmly...and they really listened.

Honestly? I think some of our teens are actually waking up to those who don't want them to have nice things.
One kid's folks own a bunch of apartment buildings and, in class one day, he told his class (they were discussing the equality issue) he was REALLY tired of people thinking his parents didn't work because they'd inherited and then bought more apt buildings...he said they work hard with the buildings, keeping them up, not getting rent sometimes, dealing with bad tenants, etc...HARD. He said he was SICK of that not being honored.

I nearly leapt off my feet and smacked a big one on his bright little head! :-)

A few years ago when I raised my rates for teaching, some of the homeschool parents started whining. I asked: "How much do you pay your plumber?"

End of problem when I demand a rate hike.

Be very careful. One or more of those kids will tell a parent or another teacher, and your position may be in jeopardy. On the whole, teachers are smart people, but they do have to toe the line of whatever dogma the administration believes in.

Some people would do anything to harm another person's reputation, or standing. Remember, there are more nuts per acre in California than any other place. I know. I lived there for about four months onetime.

"I once suggested HERE AT GEEZ that there should be a cap on sports intake..."

Maybe they should get paid by the basket, the touchdown, the completed pass, the interception, the Q Back tackle? In baseball they celebrate a .400 batting average? Meaning they reward and celebrate failure? After all that translates to less than half of the times they hit the ball or get a base hit? Or a pitcher gets paid for every strike he throws...but pays the team back for every walk?

And some get paid $25,000,000 per year for that?

Wouldn't bother me if Rodeo Drive was converted into a flea market with live chickens and fresh tacos for sale? Maybe like a Chinatown market in San Francisco?

Wouldn't bother me....it'd be the karma they deserve. Besides...they'll just all leave and move to Colorado, Texas, Oregon and screw up those places the way they did there. It's in their DNA. Every New Yakker that moves to Florida may as well be another strain of polio, measles, TB ( for real ) or a venereal disease. They are especially disgustingly infected with their "superiority" and infectious insanity. Especially among the DWS crowd.

@Z:

"liberal friends"?

If you're a conservative...liberals can never be a "friend". They'll diss you behind your back, mock you and can't be trusted. They'll 'dime" you out in a heartbeat.

I don't have any...I don't associate with any. I refuse to have any. Relatives especially. I've disowned them, shunned them and let them know they're total assholes and demented. I like them staying in New Jersey paying the highest property taxes in the US, the highest population density in the US , crowding upon each other like ants. And especially keeping them away from guns.

Wow z, you paint a pretty bleak picture of Rodeo Drive in the future. Nothing but Burger King, consignment stores, head shops, check cashing stores, pawn shops and Brazilian nail salons? Pretty bleak indeed.

The Second Amendment..something your state refuses to recognize as a part of the Constitution.

You're right on about Lima Beans. Nothing like grilled Sprouts, sprinkled with bread crumbs, parmesan, sautéed in garlic and butter to make as an appetizer.

My close circle of friends consider me the conservative. You should catch their act. One of them is the repair floor manager at a Harley dealership.

Pink Harley's with saddle bags too?

Wow z, you paint a pretty bleak picture of Rodeo Drive in the future. Nothing but Burger King, consignment stores, head shops, check cashing stores, pawn shops and Brazilian nail salons? Pretty bleak indeed.

Compared to Tiffany's, Neiman Marcus? Yes..very bleak. And dangerous too. And the "BK Lounge" with $1 burgers, pawn shops that take in stolen anything? Especially BMW and MBz radios? Stolen jewelry from Brentwood swells?

That's what they mean. I've met and talked to many of them and this is exactly what they mean. What's more after I explain how everyone will stop working when they can not work and make 65k a year then the system will fall apart and good and services will be unavailable for everybody.

They look at me like I'm an alien.
yes, libtards are so stupid and diseased in the head they can't even understand something this simple.

Actually Mr. Rita tried his hardest to keep his mouth shut when his family almost in unison supported BHO. He didn't always succeed, but he tried.

I have a very very close and dearly loved relative that was so enamored with BHO that we had to have it out one night about being able to support who we want. She attempted to sway me by saying she had been trained to be tolerant and I calmly agreed with her, that she was very tolerant as long as I agreed with her.

We decided that night that we loved each other more than we loved being right about whatever our beliefs were. Of course I was right, but family comes first. We are as close as we ever were.

I would say that most liberals are so over the top that friendship is not even on the radar screen. But I love the ones that I have that we can discuss politics and other ideology in a reasonable manner without it becoming personal.

Wish some of these libs coming here at Z's could be logical enough to have an intelligent discussion of our differences, but it just seems they are getting crazier, not tolerant.

OT, I am going to a party tomorrow with some old friends. Last time the four couples got together (4 or 5 years ago) the lib literally screamed me out of the house because I dared to disagree with her regarding whether John Mellencamp loved this country. Let's just say she was a mean drunk, so hopefully either she's cut back on her drinking or her over the top love of Obama.

Genius and hard work must be rewarded. Otherwise it finds somewhere else to go.
Such as the Taxman of England in the 1960's
They moved to the USA and thumbed their noses at "Mr Wilson" and "Mr Heath".

In the USA example, if people who find ways to put a pocket computer in your pocket for from say 200 - 650 bucks so you life can be enriched by the functionality that provides then they will stop doing it. See what kind of cell phone the POS hairy reid and his moron accomplice nana pelosi can create for you.
Apply that to Everything in your life that you value. What might that be? Walk through your house and add up how much of it came from the federal government.

IMP, libs. I'll make an exception for immediate family (Mom and Dad but they're not here anymore) and children under the age of 30(still hope) but I won't give the rest of them the time of day, or help them in any way. let them lie in their communist leper colonies.

Is it hate on my part? NO! It is simply recognizing that they living with the effects of poor choices is the only thong that even has a chance of educating them.

Like shock therapy ya know. It's the love and compassion that makes me pull the handle.

@Rita:

"and I calmly agreed with her, that she was very tolerant as long as I agreed with her. "

And that's the crux of it Rita. Their way or the hi way. Listen...she'd probably cut you out if you stood your ground. They're so tolerant and always...always right, aren't they? You must surrender otherwise you're a Neanderthal.

"I would say that most liberals are so over the top that friendship is not even on the radar screen. But I love the ones that I have that we can discuss politics and other ideology in a reasonable manner without it becoming personal. "

See Rita, thats where we part ways. With my in laws....I didn't marry them. So they can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. My wife may not like that I detest her siblings...but she's knows where I stand...and knows that I am what I am. And never apologizes to them..for me. Shes knows what I did...knows I'm a vet...she's as liberal as they come ( a Jewish girl too )..and she was throwing bags of shit at the cops in 68 at the Chicago convention too. And she still married me before I was out of my uniform.

Yet...we're married now 45 years.

With my lib relatives...there is no middle ground. I don't give an inch.

They've ruined this country...screwed their kids....and all to prove to their tolerance and love of this black man. That they can brag about in the temple.

And I'll tell you right now..not one of them has a black neighbor or would live in a predominately black neighborhood. And...they call them schwartzes over their corn beef and rye.

It's easy enough to figure out Kid. Ever watch The Men Who Built America?

T Krabby said...

Miss Rita:

Who built America?

White males built the modern world we live in today. White males created Western Civilization and our forms of government.

White males invented the automobile, internal combustion engine, airplane, jet engine, computers, internet, satellites, cell phones, vaccines, refrigeration, electricity, most all the arts, etc……… and we’re supposed to apologize?

The truth of the matter is the rest of the world is forever indebted to us. They hate us because they aren’t us and they know it.

Is that "racist"? Not unless they rewrite the history books. And shame on those who aren't proud of it cause it ain't..PC bull dung.

Rita said...

You're not understanding me Imp. I told HER she was very tolerant of anyone that agreed with her. I was no agreeing with her, I illustrated that she was being very intolerant.

I did NOT give up my position, I calmly made my point that I had every right to my belief (if you've ever seen the URL (nit the blog name) to my blog you'll now understand where that name came from).

After about 30 minutes of pointing out to her exactly who I believed was being intolerant, her disagreement with me faded. We called a truce on Obama.

She wasn't willing to lose someone who was like a mother to her over Obama and I wasn't willing to lose someone who is like a daughter to me over him either.

We made a pact that night that family was more important than politics. Especially my family. Ten years from now, Obama will just be a bad part of America's history. My niece will still be my niece and likely be even closer than we are now.

And here's the real kicker...they're mostly "social workers".

Day in and day out they see the failures of dependency ,idiocy and ignorance. They teach "parenting" for Christs sake.

Parenting? To whom? Idiots that should never be..".parents" Jesus. God help us.

Rita said...

Back to the original subject, of course some of the disparity of income comes from a difference in talent or ability but I look at the majority as being simply those who are willing to take risks.

My husband and I have been ones to minimize the risk of a downsized paycheck. That meant we were unwilling to put our neck on the line in order to possibly create greater profits. We managed fine just being hard working, less spending adults.

The upside was that we kept ourselves from being overly stressed and over leveraged.

The downside was not making a fortune.

I have never had a problem with those we know that risked virtually everything and made themselves rich. They took a risk I was unwilling to make. Some that did, failed and had to start over. Others were successful and made a ton of money.

So what? They took the risks and they won. Why should anyone covet their position unless they were equally invested and lost?

What we hear now is that people who won't put in the same amount of effort or risk their future should be compensated to same as those who do.

That's bull. I wanted a steady paycheck without the added worry of risk. I shouldn't be rewarded the same as those that took the risk.

Bank interest rates are not just based on return on investment and the time value of money, they are also based in risk.

Risk can either equal reward or failure. I avoided risk, therefore I was not rewarded the same as those that risked so much.

I will say I've been thinking of developing a curriculum so our knuckle headed teens have heard of THE WOMEN, or BUSTER KEATON, or MILDRED PIERCE or THE LETTER or so MANY films they've never heard of.
I have actress friends in their early forties who have never heard of Irene Dunne... how the heck can they do a craft without knowing the history:?
Pathetic.

I hope I can do a class some day...in only black/white film and how films like The Women reflected the culture of the day, etc...

Rita, Only because I love old prases and their meanings...

It was 'and the Creek don't rise', and it referred to the Creek Indian tribe.

One of those things that will be lost. One more.

"I gave it the whole 9 yards."

This referred to WWII fighter pilots who returned from a mission explaining a kill or attempted kill. The ammo belts in the wings that held the 50 caliber bullets were 27 feet long. 9 yards. When you gave someone or something the whole 9 yards, you spent your entire ammo cache on the sucker.

Of course the administration is 'hiding something'about Benghazi. So is the House and Senate! But because it can look like they're hiding something, it can be USED.

What was Stevens doing there? Well Benghazi did happen to be the origin of the anti-Qaddafi insurrection. And the compound seemed to be a CIA staging area/safe house.

NOBODY wants to get to the bottom of this: does Issa really want to compromise the CIA?, it is not as if the spooks actually take their cues from Obama -- or any President -- gimme a freaking break. They are pretty independent -- that's the damn PROBLEM.

But yeah the OPTICS can be exploited, because the OPTICS seem like there was a coverup. Because there WAS. Maybe somebody will eventually make Issa shut up, but then again the CIA is a bunch of right wing authoritarians so maybe not. Not until they get too close to a bunch of spooks who can shut him down.
