Here's how I've been feeling and you can call me nuts if you want. I don't think we should advertise ourselves with bumper stickers. It might be better to keep a low profile because I think we're up against a real monster, whose true colors probably aren't going to show for a year or so but it could be sooner. He just appointed the equivalent of Goering or Goebbels to be White House Chief of Staff. The last time the world had a pretender to the throne of Emperor of the World there was the US to take him down. But now the US itself has succumbed to the same spirit and there is nobody to bring him down. Keep a low profile, pray a lot, think hard.

Pris, I'm not thinking of "shrinking back," I'm trying to think in terms of intelligent action. I'm not afraid for myself but I want to be effective for family and friends who went for this pied piper. You may have a better sense of how to be that than I do, and maybe bumper stickers are a good idea, but I live alone and I'm an easy target. Maybe being a target is what I have to be. I'll pray about it.

I think our priorities should include demonstrating civility, dignity, humanity, restraint, even respect and kindness to the enemy, to make a pointed contrast with their dishonesty and thuggery and show what sort of nation we want to have too. Emanuel's selection is frightening. While I'm no big Dick Morris fan, he lends some background to many subjects, especially including the Clinton years, of which Emanuel was a HUGE part.
Clinton was furious at Morris for having told two people something top secret(I forget who the second in this remembrance was) ..one was Emanuel. Clinton was FREAKING out, swearing at him over the phone saying WHO DID YOU TELL? When Morris admitted Emanuel had been one, Clinton screamed more furiously saying HE IS IN IT FOR HIMSELF... YOU MIGHT AS WELL HAVE HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE!
Will Emanuel leak like he used to to the NY Times? Did obama vet him well enough with Clinton (don't you think they should have spoken when obama's using the SAME GUY? ..change, right?!!) scary.
We could have REALLY important things leaked again; as if the whole world doesn't hear it when the NYTimes spews it.
Ahmedinejad congratulated obama saying roughly that this guy's great and weren't we Americans right in electing him. First time since the iranian kidnappings that they've weighed in like this.
THAT should make us ALL SICK.
So....what do we do? How do we fight back to make a difference? IT feels so awful, every time I think of this I don't picture an ending or a resolution to our speaking out effectively except with some civil disobedience, marching on Washington, or something....
And, every time I TRY to support my new president, every time I think "Well, maybe he's not SO bad...give him a chance.." I remember that running his third finger across his cheek at Hillary and McCain and I realize we have someone as president who has VERY VERY little class. THAT scares me....a very little thing, that third finger to his opponents, but that and the way he went after Joe the Plumber should make us ALL very worried.
WHERE is DUCKY? I was SO hoping he'd give us a version of how this teacher is perfectly acceptable and that we're just being overly sensitive when she tells a white child her daddy will never come home if mcCain's elected.

It is perhaps my biggest disappointment. That decency, and civility have been trumped by the exact thing you now warn us against. That being the tactics of the left.
The irony is that you still count on conservatives to remain civil as we usually do, while you whittle away everything we hold dear as Americans.
This is as perverse as your denunciation of our freedom of speech while lauding freedom of speech. One example is The Fairness Doctrine, which translated means Shut Up Conservatives so the left can have unencumbered reign.
I will remind you that on the day of President Bush's first inauguration in 2001, there were protesters. The demonization began that day calling Bush President-select. It did stop for about a month after 9-11, and picked right up again and is going on to this day.
