Collateral Damage and Islamist terror

Sad that, this morning on television, they're repeatedly showing a simulation of the destruction which would have been caused had the Time Square bomber been successful. I say 'sad' because I'm not sure why they're showing it..... Does this help our public feel safer?   Do they really think that by showing this, people will be more vigilant, as if they could possibly stop every bomb from going off in a car?

Sadder yet is how Islamist terrorists use collateral damage as their stock and trade and Americans are chastised for allowing one poor family to be killed in any assault on those terrorists desirous of killing every single one of us.   Muslim success is 'the more innocents dead the better' (witnessed in Israel, too, of course, while Israelis are blasted for the slightest retaliation to whole buses being blown up which kill Jewish pregnant mothers, grandfathers, children...)

As we show explosions and how they look if successful, couldn't that give information to terrorists?  Should we also be showing, incessantly on every channel, the types of instruments of death terrorists were trying to use for airplanes, for example, if we hadn't found and confiscated them?   Isn't that a type of "Okay, Mohammed, they're on to the cell phones, they're on to that type of explosive,....go to Plan C and see how THAT works"?

Gosh, we Americans are so kind, so conscientious...... seemingly turning a blinder eye to our own soldiers putting themselves in danger in the effort to protect the families of murderers, showing what doesn't work in the world of terrorism and why, alerting terrorists to the kinds of things we're looking for at airports, etc etc.

Can we get around this, or is this what Islam is banking on and we are powerless to act differently because of leftwing worldviews?

And now our 'good' friend Pakistan has blcked the NATO supply route to the troops in Afghanistan. With 'friends' like this----. A 'religion' of peace & love. Yeah, right! Wonder how Howdy will talk to them? Thank heaven for Fox News.

"They" are showing it for the same reason "they" make slasher movies.

Because the peeps love this stuff. It voids the necessity of thought.

Hmmmmmm.....maybe New Yorkers could take a lesson or two in parking Jeeps in certain spots near GZ

Think NYr's would ever retaliate? Nah....they'd set up another "memorial" and another mosque near the next blast.

-----------------

Absolutely, car bombs, IED's, suicide vests, grenades, terrorists clearly have very little idea what explosions look like.
Most interesting item in the report was that there were three ignition mechanisms in the original bomb and none of them worked.
It may be likely that they will try something else since explosives have been a pretty dismal failure over quite some time.

Worry about the shooters who may have been planning a Bombay style attack and remember that we ARE being fed information by Muslims and we might not want to alienate them all.

Anonymous, "a lesson or two in parking jeeps near GZ"? Would you please explain that.
Time Square wasn't likely to have any crowds?

Ducky "Absolutely, car bombs, IED's, suicide vests, grenades, terrorists clearly have very little idea what explosions look like."
iS that sarcasm? Because it isn't clear how any explosives will work...not always...especially not with bimbos with little training.

I think you're agreeing with me on the rest of your comment, ?? It's so surprising I can't trust it :-)

I think that Jeep comment could have been that it might hit the new mosque...I hope I'm wrong.

And yes, Ducky, it's not a bad idea to be courting muslims who'll tell us the truth; remember that I'm not one who thinks every single muslim is bad, though I'll get chastised now for having said that again.

Well, 2008 brought us something America needed, a big gulp of stupid in the form of Barack Obama.

As the internet expands and more and more people gain the tools to do research for themselves, one thing that has become glaringly apparent is that there has never been in the recorded history of human civilization a leftist who was not a flippin' moron. The hypothetical concept of "intelligent leftist" has become absurd on it face. They don't exist, and never have.

The coming Senate and Congressional election is going to sweep leftist worldviews in government back to it's 5% margins, with a very sizeable conservative and libertarian electorate pushing themselves forward. The newly elected Congressional resistance will butt heads with Obama for his last two years in office, and we'll hear no more of leftism for around 25 years. Lacking the grace and tact God gives the strong and wise, Obama will continue to shoot off his teleprompter reader and hurt the left in future elections until at least the mid-2020's, when someone finally tells him to shut up or he dies of a crack cocaine overdose.

By the time the Left is calling itself "the New New Left" (the "Old Left" repackaged itself as the "New Left" by removing swastikas from their pamphlets), circa 2035, "leftist" will likely appear in thesauri as a synonym of "stupid." Thank the Messiah for that.

So no, I don't think we're powerless. In fact, my yardstick says our power is about to send the Left off the stage for a while.

I mean sure, we can't fix stupid. THere still is a bloc of willfully ignorant people out there. Stalin lost the Ukraine even after having 15 years notice from the publication of Mein Kampf that Hitler was coming for it. Fidel Castro has realized, after 51 years, that communism doesn't work. Democrats somehow continue to win elections in some quarters. Stupid people, slow at everything, are always going to be with us.

But, we outnumber them.

For now, that's delicious.

Maybe not as many as would be going into that proposed GZ mosque on a Friday.

I think they ought to seriously consider that when the next attack comes....those hard hats that worked 911...have more skills than putting up wallboard.

To say nothing of experts in the NYPD / NYFD that remember well....the true meaning of...islam.

These people don't need another "reality" check from muslims. One more....and muslims will have to hide.

" remember that I'm not one who thinks every single muslim is bad...."

And you base that opinion on what? Hopey, thingy, lovey dovey spouting from self serving muslims?

Or...that two or three have actually told the truth and warned us of the true intent of islam?

Or is that constant, perennial california sunshine?

Just like some who still think islam is a "religion of peace". And it's one thing to fight them 12,000 miles away....but some people are still too stupid to realize that the new battle is and will be right here!

Are we just going to accept that as...like obummer said...acceptable collateral damage?

We forget our history and where we came from.

Here's a realistic look at "collateral" damage:

The intent is there. The technology exists and is proliferating exponentially. This isn’t a possibility. It’s a probability.

What would this day of days look like? Jerome Corsi once wrote a second-by-second synopsis of a nuclear attack in midtown Manhattan. The improvised nuclear device (IND) is in the back of a truck, driven by the terror cell’s leader. The operatives know they are going to die. “Assume the IND is detonated outside the Empire State Building at 11:45 a.m. Assume that the weapon is a 150-kiloton HEU gun-type bomb,” Corsi states.

1 second after detonation: “a shock wave with an overpressure of 20 psi (pounds per square inch) extends four-tenths of a mile from ground zero. This destroys the Empire State Building and all other buildings within that radius, including Madison Square Garden, Penn Station and the New York Public Library.” A mushroom cloud rises into the sky from the center of Manhattan. In this second, between 75,000 and 100,000 people die. “New York City falls off the world communication map.” Nobody knows what happened.

4 seconds after detonation: “The shock wave extends for at least a mile with an overpressure of 10 psi … all concrete and steel-reinforced commercial buildings are destroyed or so severely damaged that they begin to collapse.” An additional 300,000 people perish. The survivors are all burned and injured, buried in hundreds of feet of rubble. Those in the subway system are trapped underground. There is no radio, television, or telephone communication with New York City.

6 seconds after detonation: Midtown is gone. The Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, the skyscrapers on Madison and Park Avenue — destroyed. Another 220,000 people are killed. “The outside world has virtually no contact with New York City. The first six seconds is too short an interval for government officials in Washington, D.C., to have any real idea what has happened to New York.”

Though Corsi’s reputation has suffered somewhat, his portrayal of a nuclear attack is a tour de force. Corsi elaborates the horror: the situation one hour after detonation, by the end of the day, contemplating the U.S. response, and so forth. More than 1.5 million people are killed; another 1.5 million injured, more than 75% of which will die within a week. Roads, bridges, and tunnels will be unusable. There will be no police, no fire department, no government authorities; buildings will burn until they fall. The entire city would be contaminated. Thousands would be trapped in elevators and beneath bricks, steel, rubble, and debris.

How would the United States respond? Against whom would we retaliate — and in what way? The attack occurred from an unknowable source. All evidence was destroyed in the blast. As time goes on, what powers would the American public concede to the government? How could anyone ever move their family to a big American city again? An era of de-urbanization would begin at once.

Ponder that and our squishy, stupid response to the religion of peace!

Anonymous, it's not often that people hide behind "Anonymous" and insult the blog host.
And, No, it's not California sunshine (you'd be so disappointed to know how many conservatives there are in California, wouldn't you), it's that you have to be a complete moron to think every single Muslim wants us dead.
And yes, if it's only the 3 or 4 who've helped us immeasurably here and in Afghanistan and Iraq, then yes...not EVERY MUSLIM is bad.

I disagreed, that's not 'thin skinned'. I know FOR A FACT that there are muslims who've lived here for years, who didn't have it occur to them to want Sharia Law here or kill any of us.
As for California; it's a mess right now and a great place to live in spite of it. I guess I am thin skinned on that subject because I'd never ever slam a friend's state quite as badly as some do California...just out of respect for that person.
I wouldn't refrain from discussing the problems, but I'd never go as far as to say what you said about occupation by illegals, etc.
Sorry, again, I disagree.
Glad you're here (Though I never quite know which ANONYMOUS you are, but...maybe put an initial or an X in the comments square..)
