Illegal and HIRED? STOP THE PRESSES!!

Here (below in larger letters)  is the exact title from Reuters and Yahoo:  From the grammar, it looks like the writers are also here illegally :-)   But, you've GOT to read this article and see how the headline leaves Meg Whitman, the Republican Gubernatorial Candidate running against Jerry Brown looking REAL bad...if one doesn't KEEP READING!  Here it is:

Ex-maid says Whitman knew she in the U.S. illegally

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A former housekeeper to California Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman surfaced on Wednesday to say that the former eBay executive knowingly employed her illegally and treated her poorly.  The Whitman campaign moved quickly to counter the allegations by Nicky Diaz, saying the housekeeper from Mexico lied about her immigration status when she was hired in 2000, providing a Social Security card and other documents that appeared to show she could legally work in the United States.
Whitman also said that in coming forward with the potentially explosive allegations 35 days before the November 2 election, Diaz was being "manipulated" by attorney Gloria Allred, who has been a friend and supporter of Democratic rival Jerry Brown.
The accusations by Diaz come one day after the first debate between Brown and Whitman in a tight campaign in which both sides have courted the Latino vote, and could prove damaging to the Silicon Valley billionaire if they gain traction.
Whitman has worked hard to make inroads with Latino voters, who tend to vote Democratic, in her race against Brown, the former governor and current state attorney general.
At a news conference at her Los Angeles office, Allred said that Whitman never asked Diaz if she was in the country legally when Diaz was hired in 2000 and failed to pay her for all of the hours she was hired to work.
Allred also said that Whitman disregarded letters from the Social Security Administration notifying her that there were discrepancies with the Social Security number Diaz provided.
A tearful Diaz said she came to Whitman in June 2009 for help getting legal status, but that Whitman angrily fired her instead.
The Whitman campaign released a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization employment eligibility verification form signed by Diaz when she was hired by Whitman in which she asserts under penalty of perjury that she is a lawful permanent resident.
The campaign also released copies of the Social Security Card and California driver's license supplied by Diaz at the time she was hired, and an employment questionnaire in which she checked a box saying that she could legally accept employment. (end of article)
Z: EVEN MORE DAMNING....read THIS.Don't you wonder how Allred felt about Geithner not paying his taxes, etc etc?  :-)
And, THIS just made the Yahoo Homepage Wednesday evening, a few hours after I'd written this post.  How rich do you think this illegal will get and how much will Allred make, or is Allred happy enough for having harmed the Republican's chances of beating the Democrat dope?  Again, see the title of the Yahoo piece...?  Fair?

Z: Odd that this would come out now, huh?   After all these years, and that Gloria Allred, very liberal backer of Brown would be the attorney?  BUT, the news has THE HEADLINE and very few of the stories will cover Whitman's defense of herself.  I'm not a Whitman fan AT ALL, and will only vote begrudgingly because California already's suffered under Ex-Governor Moonbeam's rule, but.........this is nuts.  The very idea that it's true is overcome by the timing and the venue of this woman's plight.  MAN.

The question is simply answered did the maid show a social security
card? Did the employer with hold taxes.

I believe the maid

Oh, it's no coincidence that this is coming out now.

I do have to say, though, when you hire someone, you must make SURE they are here legally. If an employer fails to see ID and other documents (Social Security card, birth certificate, visa) proving that they are legal to work here, then they should be held responsible.

The best way to get illegals out of here is to make sure they can't get work. No work, no reason to come in or stay.

Beak, I'd believe the maid if it weren't Allred in charge again and if it weren't for this timing. Also, she had apparently shown she was legal.
Whitman should have been surer; but VERY FEW people really get the information they should have.

Karen, I think Whitman turned the blind eye as most of us do. I'm very certain most of my building's gardeners aren't legal; let's face it, most younger Mexicans in this country aren't. And yes, if we denied employment, they'd go home. I believe I"ve heard stats that more are leaving since our economy is sinking, anyway.

I think nobody's innocent in this situation...
What I question is the tactics, the terms Allred's told this woman to use, and what a BIG STINK it is if a Republican doesn't research completely before hiring when we have tax evaders watching over all of our money, a man who lies (irrefutably shown) in the WHite House, the ignoring of the Houston voter fraud that would be HUGE news had it not been by Democrats ...(Allred's involved in that, too, but this time she's complaining because HIllary voters were intimidated..I wonder why ALlred stepped back and doesn't seem to be pursuing that, who got to HER?)

You can go down to Mac Arthur Park in L.A. & buy all the 'legal' documents you can afford to pay for, so that's no guarantee of legitimacy.

I personally have heard LIBERAL L.A. union lawyers talk about how Gloria Allred scares the pants off the male lawyers. This was during a dinner conversation at a restaurant the final night of a Bar function in Tenn. Very interesting.

SilvrLady, that's so true...MacArthur Park area is ripe with fraudulent immigrant papers for sale........there really are no guarantees.
Allred...do you see her face in my image on this post? She gets that same "Oh, my...that poor, pitiful woman.." look for every case and, if they cry, she has a slight smile at the corner of her lips, too.
She's really something, that's for sure..and her daughter Lisa Bloom's following in her footsteps, sadly.

ooooooops. Bye-bye Meg.

Jerry just made me want to vote for Meg. I wasn't planning to.

Z said...

FB, because of the fact that this scandal's so obviously timed by his people including Allred, or something else? (nobody WANTS to vote for Meg, but at least she's not a liberal)
You weren't here the first go-around with Governor Moonbeam, as he started being called.
He made Prince Charles eat from a paper sack for lunch to show how egalitarian Californians were...it didn't go over well except for very far left loons who wouldn't recognize dignity or decorum if it bit them in the rear.

yes. I'm tired of politics like this and he will be punished. she was making 23 bucks an hour and now she's whining. tired of victimhood on the left.

ps: sorry for writing like this, sms-style but I have a finger fracture and a cast.

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president...

Carter Power will soon go away
I will be Fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school!

[Chorus:]
California Uber Alles
California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face

Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay!

[Chorus]

Now it is 1984
Knock-knock at your front door
It's the suede/denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece

Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower.

DIE on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown
When you mess with President Brown

[Chorus]

-Dead Kennedys, "California Uber Alles"

Funny...Meg did more than the cops in Arizona are allowed to do or ask for.

ONE WOULD JUST HAVE TO ASSUME...that all of them are illegal and not hire any of them. That should be enough to get them to self deport.

All-Red is going to be as ugly as that haint Helen Thomas in a few years. Someone needs to tell her that her face may freeze.

I think this is a hit piece on Whitman. Diaz went to Allred in June 2009 and we're hearing about it now?

It angers me that the republicans get reemed by the MSM while the democrats get the Nubian slaves fanning them while their feet are getting rubbed treatement. This is a huge problem.

Just talked on the phone to the wife, a retired lawyer, of the very liberal lawyer mentioned earlier, whose offices are in the same bldg. as Allred's. That story was planted by Moonbeam's camp, as, being Atty. Gen of the state, his office has access to all informnation & records.

cube, it's almost like government-run media, don't you think?

SilvrLady....it HAS to be! I think that woman's right about this being a plant of the Moonbeam bunch. THe timing STINKS. Can you imagine how much they might have promised to pay the illegal woman? Aren't there ways to track down payments to her, or do you think they wait till the spotlight's off and then pay her? Or it's cash?
Allred .... I wouldn't trust her for anything. I saw her one night at a restaurant, she is as tiny as they get, and the BIGGEST ugly MOUTH going.

Jerry Brown may be an ex Governor, but his moonbeam status is in tact.

His comment on creating jobs, echos Obama's. "Green jobs". After searching for those then what?

How about those ex farms in the inland valley in California, which the Government allowed to dry up, by refusing to allow the irrigation water to flow into the farms? 40,000 jobs gone, not to mention the food they grew.

What did State attorney general Brown think of that? Who knows? He has not addressed that.

Ex Gov. Brown, insists that "cement contributes to the "carbon footprint". I guess that means constructon jobs are at risk. Oh well!

Governor moonbeam was willing to sit by while property taxes were driving people out of their homes during the late seventies. We fixed that with a grassroots movement called Prop. 13.

While that fight was going on, he finally conceded, "I guess a man's home is his castle" Gee, thanks Jerry! Who knew?

Gov. moonbeam who nominated a State Supreme court justice named Rose Bird who was so "out there", she was recalled.

We've been there done that, and a do over would be deja vu all over again! I'm sure he would do everything he can, to cooperate with this President.

He has already said he wouldn't join other states in the healthcare court challenges now in play. He said, "the healthcare bill is constitutional". Yeah sure Jerry, I'm sure you read all 2700 pages!?!"

Jerry Brown has lived off the state since he was a young man, before that, his father did. Some racket huh?

I've lost count. I don't know if he's now triple dipping or quadruple dipping into lifelong state pensions.

I do know he was Gov, Mayor of Oakland, and now, State Atty. General. He knows nothing else but how to spend our money.

I just ask every Califonian to think, "what would this legislature do, with a proven moonbeam ally in Sacramento"?

If you think Arnold is a disaster, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Kafka-fornia....where the world would get an enema if it was needed. The land of fruits, nuts, whispering bushes and chuckle-heads.

Well....you might as well hire Grey Davis back too....deja vu and too stupid to move forward.

Anonymous, please stop.
California's really the only state that gets so slammed on the blogosphere and I"m tired of it, frankly.
And, if people don't like it, PLEASE stop coming! thanks

I grew up in Cal., moved there from NY in the late '40s, & it was a wonderful place to be. I still visit, as my 2 sons work in the film industry, & the changes make me sad. It has so much to offer, but so many problems are taking it down the wrong road. I wish the state & its citizens a better direction for the future.

Did you see Allred get creamed by Greta last night? Male lawyers might be scared of her but Greta took her to the cleaners. And $23/hr? WTF? That's more money than I make as a teacher. And I already spent $50 on school supplies and we are only 4 weeks in.

And Z, I left CA in 93 because I could see what was coming...

Greta skinned her alive! I know Greta's good, but even I was surpised at how she took her apart, & in effect told her she was a fool, or worse.
