This goes with the Whitney posts below and I like to think she'd approve:

Whitney Houston's death, while a sad thing, was the direct result of very unwise life choices. It dominates the news. Charlie Sheen is 45 and his story is all over the news because he is a substance abuser, an adulterer, sexually promiscuous and obnoxious.

Lindsay Lohan is 24 and her story is all over the news because she is a
celebrity drug addict, thief and lesbian.

Something as frivolous as Kim Kardashian’s stupid wedding [and short-lived marriage] was shoved down our throats, While........

Justin Allen 23
Brett Linley 29
Matthew Weikert 29
Justus Bartett 27
Dave Santos 21
Jesse Reed 26
Matthew Johnson 21
Zachary Fisher 24
Brandon King 23
Christopher Goeke 23
and Sheldon Tate 27...

Are all Marines that gave their lives last month for you (not to mention the approximately 4000 others who've died in the last ten years). There is no media for them; not even a mention of their names.

We need to HONOR THEM!!  God bless you, Rest In Peace, and THANK YOU, TROOPS.

(thanks, Impertinent...good one)

If we honour REAL heroes, won't that hurt our poor celebrities self-esteem???

Please see my post today: a quiet hero passed away around the same time as Whitney Houston.

Good post Z, it's a funny world we live in, those who die for us struggle to get a mention.

By the way it's MK here, i've moved my blog and set up shop here -

No doubt about that. And the DOD budget calls for reductions in benefits for those who go off to these hell holes in combat.

Public unions? Fire, police, teachers, meat inspectors, and many others who have quite the easy life are having their benefits increased constantly, using your tax money.

So many things are completely out of whack. Down is up, up is down.

Bravo.

Eric Deters, a small-station local radio host here in Cincinnati said the same thing!

and I'd like to see any of the usual suspects do something like this, which I post only because it's a cool short video.

I agree, those who serve their country should get a little better treatment in the press. If you go to my blog, T.F.Stern's Rantings, and type in "medal of honor" it should bring up at least a couple of articles written about "real heroes".

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm flabbergasted and blown away....Alan "Commie" Colmes has stated that he doesn't agree with flying the flag at half mast for WH is proper.....considering that...American troops are dying every day...without the same honor.

To me...Christie is a JO and a pandering fool to the racist driven agenda ( as if WH would ever associate with them...she moved out to the safer burbs to escape the barbarism in Newark ) in Newark whom he knows that he'd have to call in the National Guard if he didn't.

Newark...New Jersey..the Somalia of the East coast.

This is the real world, with real heroes.

There's a difference between choosing to self destruct, and giving one's life for his country.

Tabloid American media is loathe to point out what real heroism is. It might strike a patriotic chord in people, and they can't have that, can they.

Thanks for this Z, and Imp. This is worthwhile, and worthy of our tears as well.

God bless our Marines.

Imp, I don't agree with flying the American flag at halfmast for Whitney, either...everyone I know disagrees with it and my question is "Where does it stop?" He did pander and I'm surprised. On the other hand, he's the Gov of New Jersey, which is a proud state for the fame Whitney had, but still....

Right Wing..."theocrat" that kind of surprises me, mate!
I like your new blog, thanks for coming by and letting me know.

Pris "God Bless our Marines" indeed..and navy, and army..xxx

Elbro, I just know your bro is going to be well.........I just feel it . xxx Thank him for his service.

This really bothered me. Those soldiers deserve honor for their sacrifice. Their families get Purple Hearts (I think), but that's not enough.

Praise and honor are in order.

High praise and honor are in order, not the false attention paid by the TV networks during the peak of the Iraq war.

I like Charlie Sheen - have ever since Wall Street - and my fave V

I suspect that the real reason why our veterans do not receive the homour and respect due them is largely from fear of upsetting the Left's anti-war sensibilities. Ever since Vietnam, the MSM has shyed away from portraying the American soldier as a hero and defender of liberty... impugning his motives and portraying his service as one directed towards the never ending advancement of corporate capitalistic greed...

It's long past time we called out their Left wing agenda and returned honour to its proper position in American daily life. The cult of the "celebrity" is an empty one.

I could careless about drug addicted, sexually perverted and morally corrupt celebrities.

I prefer to celebrate and honor all of our men and women who have served, is presently serving, have died for our nation. And lest we forget, some of those surviving heroes are left permanently disabled with missing limbs, and other traumatic disabilities.

Those are MY heroes. God bless them all.

Not some idiot Hollywood person who wasted a God-given talent to what I mentioned above.

The media has lost their focus on the real stories.
