Your child will eat THIS and LIKE IT, says the State?

Will we sit back and take THIS kind of unbelievable behavior?  Suddenly, in America, 3 chicken (possibly  fried)  nuggets are suddenly more healthy than a mother-prepared lunch of a turkey/cheese sandwich, banana and potato chips because the STATE SAID SO?   Here is the gist of the story, you can click on the link for more, if you can, pardon the pun, stomach it:

RAEFORD — A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.

The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs - including in-home day care centers - to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones.

The girl's mother - who said she wishes to remain anonymous to protect her daughter from retaliation - said she received a note from the school stating that students who did not bring a "healthy lunch" would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.
....(see link above for more)

Yes, we have inspectors now checking lunches in all schools....and demanding children pay for any of the food group they deem missing.    Don't you think it would be better if the States took the money they're paying inspectors and gave food to children in mostly inner cities which don't even get food?
I think so.   I remember our school cafeteria offered a bowl of mashed potatoes with a glob of dark brown gravy in the middle of it and I used to buy that and love it.  Isn't it amazing I lived to tell it? :-)

This is NUTS (wait, are nuts on the Statelist!?) and we're doing NOTHING to stop it...........wake up, America.

It could be worse wait until the Peta nuts demand kids go vegan. I was an evil one in college. The local KFC would save a few extra buttermilk biscuts to tosss at the protesters. It works better when they are stale.

I guess don't tell me what to do with my body is good for abortion but not a bucket of KFC.

super observation...

If anyone thinks it will stop at this, they have not been paying attention.

RAEFORD -- The Division of Child Development and Early Education denied claims Wednesday that an agent took a student's lunch but family members said otherwise.

The Carolina Journal - a publication of the John Locke Foundation - first reported the Jan. 30 incident. It said an as yet unidentified state employee told the West Hoke Elementary School student that her lunch, which was packed by her mother, was not nutritious and did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines.

It happened while state officials were checking at the school to make sure meals met USDA rules.

Instead, the child's lunch of a turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice was allegedly replaced with school cafeteria chicken nuggets. The student also brought home a bill for the cost of the school lunch she had to eat instead.

The state's Health and Human Services Department, which is investigating the claim, issued a statement, which reads in part: "We have determined that no employee of DHHS, nor the Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) or its contractors, instructed any child to replace or remove any meal items. Furthermore, it is not DHHS' policy to inspect, go through or question any child about food items brought from home." (Read full statement here.)

Instead, the agency says it gave the little girl milk to offset a missing dairy item.

Thinks what will stop, Silverfiddle?

Right wingers blowing smoke?

Walked into the straight right, again.

Let Michelle Obama go back to Hawaii and leave us alone. To heck with her and all of her nanny-state enablers.

What is it with socialists and their craving to control others?

Beamish, Beak ROCKED with that comment, BIG TIME.

Ducky, you're suggesting that the woman was probably lying, and on top of the probably 5 other articles threatening to do even worse than this, it probably just can't be true, right? (don't be silly...I do my research, your info isn't new, it's wishful thinking)
I'll bet that bill the kid got was bogus, she went to a printer and had one printed out, right? Honestly...think things through.
And, if it's all somehow wrong (which it so obviously can't be), how do we fight all the situations setting in place to do just this ridiculous leftwing nonsense?
I think YOU walked into it, Ducky..sorry, but.

SF...that's the point; we've all read articles like this in other instances and still people aren't paying attention and even trying to pawn these stories as not true.

Ah ... the old "It takes a village (government) to raise a child" ploy.

Z said...

Sam, yes, a village and, apparently, 3 chicken nuggets. You know how unhealthy a turkey/cheese sandwich is for a child :-)
Also, the piece says she only eats veggies when her mother's around so the mom packs fruit instead, and another of my points is that the school sold her something she didn't want and down the trash it went; as will all the meals children simply won't eat.
Or will the Obama people start shoving the 'better' food down their throats??

The deal is duhkkky that the gubmint got no business checking my child's lunch in the first, regardless of whether items were switched or not

There comes a time when one just gets fed up with this administration and that day was the first day this president came into office.
As for his wife, that day was the second day.
I have more patience with women when it comes to politics. I have to show some That way people will never know I'm angry and disagree with them. ..

That child's lunch was perfectly acceptable. This is a nanny state gone wild. They are intoxicated with power under this administration and it will only get worse before it gets better.

Ducky, you're suggesting that the woman was probably lying

-------
I'm posting a report from local sources.

Now maybe this is how it went down: A representative was there and said something about the child's lunch.

Maybe gave the kid some mild because the child hadn't brought any. You can comment on the appropriateness of the action but it was quite possibly completely innocent.

Child goes home and tells a story as young children are naturally likely to do. Mom explodes without sufficient facts and "Talent on Loan from Synthetic Morphine" Limbaugh blasts moms unverified story all over right wing land.

Now, there is no way to know at the moment what is accurate but that apparently isn't going to stop the right.

Just the beginning as SF said. Soon they will monitor all one buys at the Grocery store. P.S. Blogger is wearing me out trying to read the TWO WORDS> so not commenting much at blogger blogs.

Ducky, I've always thought you were mean spirited, egotistic and elitist, but I've never thought you were quite this dishonest on most subjects, no matter how amazingly ideological you are.
Where did the child get the invoice for $1.25 from?
The child's a liar?

PLEASE read my whole article, there's a link. thank you.
Do you give all these 'outs' to the Right for any slight imperfection your side finds with them? NO, I know you don't.

To the rest of you...bravo for all your comments; each one of you is so right.
Sidbirt, I had to smile about your time when you realize there's a problem; yes, one day was enough for aware Americans who don't believe in electing overt liars!

Cube, isn't it NUTS? I don't think it'll ever get better, by the way, particularly if Obama's elected again. And he will be.

Bunker, what's with the 2 words? Please don't be a stranger, just write what you can in that box and it'll tell you no and give you an easier one to read! You'd be sorely missed. :-(

Z Typical leftist tactic from Ducky: If you can't refute the information with facts, resort to smears and bald-faced lies and misinformation.

Hey Ducky, the government shouldn't have any right to look in the kids lunchbox. Read it slowly, I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

Maybe Duck has a poster of that filthy racist troglodyte Maxine Waters and Alan Colmes too?

I wonder when parents will keep their kids home, and boycott public schools and the dictators who consider parents a nuisance.

Maybe it's time parents become "occupiers" of the sidewalks outside the schools, while the schools lose money for every child who doesn't attend.

Let's see. Parents could yell, "Hey hey, ho ho, nanny state has got to go"! Kinda fun to turn the tables on the left, don't you think?

Z said...

Pris, I love that idea..OCCUPY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!

Z said...

Don't think anybody will see this as it's down under about five other posts by now, but, for the record, this "thing that never happened" has happened at least twice to another mother at the same school.

saw the article today.

Ducky's here said...

Now that everyone has had a chance to cool down and take a break from rabies radio why not go back and research what happened.

The girl's lunch was not taken from her. The girl misunderstood and took the school lunch instead.

Mom has a fit and it goes viral on the fringe right news network.

No retraction will be forthcoming and the right will continue to live in its manufactured haze.

Z said...

OH, DUCKY! research it...it's happened twice to another mother at the same school.
My gosh..keep swingin' ...maybe the truth will come your way! :-)
