America and Resolutions

If you were a resolution maker, what would be your wish for America in 2014?

That American society would turn away from ideologues and tautologies; and that we would, as a whole, turn off television news to show the outlets that their Honey-Boo-Boo-ization of the news cycle and rank support of political parties is an unsustainable business model.

Less addiction to technology. Americans seem to be obsessed with their "devices." As a result, their attention spans have been reduced to that of a gnat.

Without citizens' ability to think and to follow a line of reasoning, America will continue the spiral downward, IMO.

Ed Bonderenka said...

I would resolve to impeach Barack Hussein Obama and convict, as a warning to generations to come.
I'd agree with CI, but I don't know specifically which ideologies and tautologies were included. I might like a couple of them.
And AOW is right, we need to... excuse me, someone is tweeting me...

That I could change the laws concerning corporations so as to force them to distribute their profits with either their employees ngenerally (and not just the CEO and Board of Directors) or as dividends to their owners and prevent them from hoarding tens and hundreds of billions just to buy other corporations with.

AOW and I have always been in agreement on cell phones and (anti)social media.

Just so much random noise.

Z - My wish for 2014 is that the parties could work together and not have so much diversity.

T Krabby said...

@Sue:

Are you sure you meant what you just typed?

Or would you like to amend that statement?

Ed Bonderenka said...

@Sue. That's the problem, not the solution.

JonBerg said...

All I can say is that AOW nailed it-SPOT ON! It seems to engender a society of lifelessness. I often see people, presumed to be together, but while not conversing, they seem to be totally mesmerized by their little hand held gadgets! What did people ever do when they didn't have that $#!t?

OK MY WISH:

I wish, somehow that the US population, at large, would become more concerned with the [realities] we face and less focused on mindless entertainment like "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo" and a whole bunch more nonsense that we seem to be force fed. Also, while I enjoy watching football, sports, ad nauseam is exactly that. I actually know people who seem unable to converse on any topic outside of the NFL and fine points of astonishing trivia therein, for months of the year. Frivolity in moderation is fine and probably [healthy] but I sense an imbalance which isn't. By-the-way; I'm including myself in every aspect of this paragraph!

Z said...

CI, but it's clearly a totally sustainable business model; it's America's ethos that's unsustainable with its rantings and hubris and unquestioning support of whichever party.

AOW..I couldn't agree more; I see it as planned, by the way, in my darker thoughts..

Ed...ya, put down the tweets!

Speedy...could we just allow them to maybe employ the thousands of Americans they DO support? I hope so.

Ducky, random noise, for sure.

By the way; I thought CI was joking about "Honey-boo-boo" and thought it was a rather lighthearted term for him. Is it a REAL THING???

Theo, I don't know that Sue's wanting the parties to get along isn't a good resolution and good solution; though it always seems the Right has to bow down before anything's really done

Baysider said...

A return to federalism, or at least the rule of law. Too many guys running around wanting to play emperor - in the EPA, ATF, DHS, IRS, white house, my local city hall for that matter. The counterbalances are adrift and people are distracted en mass, a la AOW's comments.

Our founders were smart. They knew men behaved like that and had a pretty good system to suppress and contain those urges. I want our government back.

Can I have a 2nd wish? Maybe it would take care of the 1st one. That we live by our coinage: liberty (equality only in our standing under the law), in God we trust, and e pluribus unum (dump the balkanizing 'diversity' fest).

Baysider; Echo'd here...good thoughts.

Ducky, you're losing a lot of letters quite often lately; are you typing on an iPad, or?
But, you are right; there isn't love for, or even knowledge of, a lot of popular entertainment here.

I'm kind of proud of that, frankly!

CI..thanks for the link. I think.

As usual when liberals REALLY mess up, this story happened Sunday afternoon and only a blogger who learned about it finally got it out yesterday; how terribly sad MSNBC's hosts are...so angry their hearts can't take in a black baby adopted into the Romney family?
What business was it of the host to even mention it?

I'm blessed with a black relative in our family and feel richer for it, when I DO think of his color. I'm not a physical person, but I'd smack anybody for the ugliness of insulting us for the happiness we all take in our new and stellar family member.
Let's see how the Romneys handle it..with a LOT more class than I would, I suspect :-)

Baysider said...

Well here's a point Ducky and I agree on heartily - along with others who commented on entertainment. I get the film and TV screeners, which I package off to a reviewer. It IS a waste of time. Geesh! You cannot imagine the effect, in toto, of flipping through this pile of waste. So much energy and resources in making, distributing, publicizing, etc. that could be diverted to something, well, useful. Makes you wonder about what doesn't get made.

JonBerg said...

Sam, now that would be entertainment well worth watching! The downside, however, might be the effect of massive water pollution. That is unless the Great Whites and other aquatic carnivores were present for a gigantic feeding frenzy. In that case the entertainment value would increase 10 fold!

Z said...

Alright, you guys!

Let's try to be a little more lighthearted and kind and hopeful for 2014 at least today and tomorrow!

Imagine America with everyone getting along? ...honoring our values and traditions...doing the right thing for the country and respecting those with money and those without?...etc etc? RIGHT?

ya, I can't either :-)

Z said...

Liberalmann...do you think this blog is nothing but fat rich cats?

We ARE Middle Class...we care about the poor, we care about our families, and we care about our country.

WAKE UP.

Happy New Year! :-)

The principal enemy for the right and the center-right is now Hillary Clinton, the vastly favored frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

She is so far in front, in fact, that her competitors are not even in hailing distance. Hillary is the one who can consolidate and solidify the “gains” of the Obama era in a way Obama himself never could because she is much more politically savvy — Obama was only savvy about getting elected, not governing — and has the backing of her even more politically savvy husband.

Hillary is the one who can fully remake the United States into some version of Western Europe or, yet more frighteningly, China, a permanently stratified state capitalism governed by quasi-totalitarian bureaucrats. (We can call this system Soros Marxism, meaning a ruling clique of increasingly rich corporate czars employing a propagandistic veneer of socialist equality to keep the power and wealth for themselves.)

The New York Times (the very model of that propagandistic veneer) already knows their bread is buttered with Hillary, not Obama.

They demonstrated that Saturday with their revisionist article on Benghazi, bent on taking that scandal (Hillary’s Achilles’ heel) off the table for the coming elections or at least seriously defusing it.

Republicans would do well to redouble their efforts to make sure this particular obfuscation does not succeed by doing the proper research and communicating the results to the public — succinctly and repeatedly.

But to do this our group must concentrate on the principal enemy and not upon each other.

What unmitigated idiocy — as if Lindsey Graham or Ted Cruz was the principal enemy and not Hillary Clinton.

2014 is a time for victory not defeat. We shouldn’t be wasting our ammunition on each other. Nobody has unlimited quantities. Concentrate on principal enemy Hillary.

Even though she is a well-documented liar, she is still “most admired.” Tell the truth (well) and end this. And end the hostility toward each other before you destroy all of us and our children’s future.

Impertinent said...

A Rebuttal:

The principal enemy of conservatives is not a Democrat. The enemy of conservatives is the Republican leadership which insists on never fighting to defeat the Democrats.

Conservatives could easily defeat Hillary, except that they will be told not to engage in a real fight with her by the likes of John Boehner, John McCain, Karl Rove, John Sununu.

These luminaries will mock anyone who wants conservative ideas to actually win. These brilliant people will assert that to beat Hillary, Republicans must embrace illegal aliens and legalize their crime, must embrace the new definitions of marriage, must accept trillion dollar annual deficits as compassionate.

These Republicans will say Hillary can only be beaten by choosing a candidate who gets along with Democrats and is not a fighter.

The enemy of conservatives is not a Democrat. The enemy is us, because we continue to associate with Republicans who actually like what Hillary does.

No, it's other people's money and Medicare for me. I just hope there's enough left to go around for another annum of the great annus leader.

I think we need a constitutional amendment to prohibit these family dynasties in the Presidency.

They defeat the purpose of allowing just two terms, and open the door wide to cronyism and bribery. Maybe a grandson could be President, but spouses, siblings, and children should be out.

We never wanted "royalty"...whether it's the Kennedy's, Bush's or the Klinton's.

Kid said...

Imp, That'd be a great amendment. Make it harder for them at least.

Kid said...

My favorite as far as constitutional amendments would be to disallow congress from making laws that don't apply to them, or that apply to them but not the civilians.

Impertinent said...

@Kid:

"would be to disallow congress from making laws that don't apply to them,..."

We've been pissing upwind with that idea for years...the problem is obvious...would any of these POS cut their own throats?
Hell no...they love what they give themselves and love that they're special.

Kid said...

Agreed

What really freaks these corrupt bastards out is....getting primaried.

But...I see the T party saying go to hell , especially after boners outrageous slam at them....and form a 3rd party. It's the only way.

Impertinent said...

The damage done by the Obama regime has consequences that will play out for generations to come.

Nuclear weapons in South America with the hands on the trigger located in Iran.

The Soviet Union reconstituting itself with increasing dominance in both the Middle East and Eastern Europe. An American economy in shambles with growing social unrest as more and more people find themselves without work.

And most importantly an America that no longer respects the religious principals upon which it was founded allowing for the ever growing appeal of the only religion that demands it be respected- Islam.

Can America restore itself? I pray for that everyday. I know that millions of Americans join me in that prayer. I now that freedom loving people all over the world join in that prayer.

Impertinent said...

Well...Happy New Year folks...same old...same old....nosame?

"We ARE Middle Class...we care about the poor"

Since almost everyone has, at least, one or more "Flat Screen" TV, a fridge, a comfortable domicile with means to cook and otherwise process food, many of which do not work, pay tax or otherwise contribute anything; please define [POOR].

Kid said...

IMP, Third party Is the only way.

In order to buck the status quo, people must be completely disgusted with the two parties. Meaning Tea Party or call it American Party, I don't care, cannot associate with repubs. They'd be Rodney Dangerfields.

3rd Party and keep plowing it to the population until we hit rock bottom and they're all squealing for Not the status quo of any sort.

As far as living with the consequences of this NON-person, incompetent, communist, marxist, muslim activist POS in the white house and his band of killer clowns in the cabinet, congress and the media, Yes, we will.

We're living with the disasterous consequences of lbj who robbed social security (now bankrupt for Americans who did the Right Thing all their lives contributing) and starting welfare. Let alone purposefully losing the Vietnam war, and God Knows how many other things.
We're still living with the consequences of jimmy carters unbelievable expansion of federal government, most notably creating the Dept of Education which has utterly destroyed education in America and only gets worse by the minute.
Now obama and his crew of homosexual self-absorbed, incompetent morons.

You Betcha !

I can't imagine how it is survivable n the context of reversing course from This point in time. Too many idiots have no idea and the foundation would be too weak to last. Things like federal control of education and multi-culturalism have to be purged and replaced with patriotic learning and a true understanding of what is going on in the world, most notably, the Evil there.

People are failing the world. The Pope, the Media, The politicians, the authorities, the public union slugs. The only ones who are worth a damn are the middle class and they're being eaten alive by the above.

Long way to go.

Kid said...

JonBerg, I haven't heard of anyone really today who is as poor as my family was when I was a kid.

Outside of the true homeless and with 50 million people on food stamps, how can someone be homeless if they're just smart enough to go ask for help somewhere other than on freeway off ramps.

I don't believe those people anyway. I do believe there are some homeless, but you can't save every leaf ya know. Some people are just going to live that way. Give them 100k and 6 months later find them in the same gutter.

Kid said...

IMP, PS, Imagine, just 4 democrat presidents since the early 60's, with Reagan for 8 years in the middle, were able bring the country down.

lbj-SS and welfare
carter- education
clinton, shipped allthe mfg jobs to china
obama-destroyed health care.

A very short list

JonBerg said...

Hey Kid,

As always good stuff from you. But I'm still waiting to hear someone define POOR. We have lazy, slobs, drug addicts and all sorts of human trash but who are the "poor"? Please define the word poor. Then after that compare and contrast it with the rest of the World.

Kid said...

JonBerg, I assume you're talking poor in America.

Hard to define isn't it.

Surely there are some out there. Gypsy types for example. There are some not that far away here. Live in a small trailer without electric, plumbing and many other things people take for granted. That's poor. From there what do you compare to?

Taken another way, I'd say you are not poor if you have a home, any home, with utilities and plumbing, and are able to eat decent food (no dumpster diving). Outside of that you are not poor. You have what you need to move forward in life. You can study, work, earn money, learn a trade or whatever and move forward and make a comfortable life for yourself. That's not poor.

And you are probably aware that the dems made it so anyone making x% of what a middle class wage is defined as - is defined as Poor. This means we will always have poor as there will always be people only making x% of what is considered middle class.

Marine4ever said...

Kid -- all good and valid points. It's been my observation that most 'poor/homeless' people are that way because they WANT to be that way. Your gypsy-type people are a good example. I'm willing to bet that, were you to offer them a job, they'd turn and run.

Z said...

Kid, it almost seems like the lefties aren't only pulling for the poor, they're making sure the poor KNOW they're poor. They NEED 3 Obama phones, they NEED a pool, they NEED a nicer car, they NEED a $15 an hour job.

Sadly, it's not easy to live on minimum wage, not at ALL, but there are people who manage. And when do some people realize that by our saying THERE WILL ALWAYS BE POOR doesn't not mean we LIKE THAT, it's just that we have a better handle on human nature and REALITY?

JonBerg, that was a good question ...to define POOR is an interesting subject. Boy, POOR here is sure different here than it is in Haiti, isn't it.

Marine4...you're right. Did you know there're a LOT of gypsy camps throughout Europe? Romanian, Czech, etc...and they squat in Germany, France, Italy....and make life unpleasant where they go. They also are the ones (some of them, anyway) who literally TEACH their 3 year olds to pick pocket and otherwise steal.

Marine4ever said...

Yes, Z, and because of our immagration policies (or, lack thereof) the floodgates are open and they and their kindred -- read that as you want -- will be flooding through here at an even faster pace. All a part of the plan; the bastardized version of "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses... ."

Z said...

Marine4...about 30 years ago, Michael Ramirez did a cartoon (I think it was him...before the LA Times got rid of their terrific conservative cartoonist/editorialist) which showed the Statue of Liberty and the caption said "Give me your tired, your poor, your BEFUDDLED ASSES."

I never forgot it.

Here's where libs get so confused as to think our remarks are xenophobic; IMMIGRANTS USED TO COME TO BEEE AMERICANS...THEY COULDN'T WAIT TO LEARN ENGLISH, THEY WANTED OUR CULTURE.

if this were still the case, who'd care? I'm first and second generation!

Marine4ever said...

Exactly, Z! I find it strange that the people, who have steered the course to become Americans, aren't the first ones to be up in arms about what's happening (or, NOT) happening with immigration -- I know that I would be. I suppose that they're just trying to be GOOD Americans and that they had rather stay out of that rat killing.

While we're at it, I'm so sick of everyone being some sort of an hyphenated American that I could gag. my family didn't come over on the Mayflower; they came over -- much, MUCH later -- because they wanted a better way of life and wanted to become Americans. They weren't, and I'm still not, a Scotch-Irish-English- (and God only knows what else) American. The minute their feet hit these shores, they were proud to call themselves Americans and they never looked back.

Here's a deal for hyphenated Americans: Go back to the hyphenated origin where you came from -- where you're so proud to be from -- and be Americans there. No takers? I didn't think so.

Kid said...

M4E, hyphenated Americans.

No more so true than for African-Americans. They want to simply be Americans right. So, why separate yourself. I've asked them. They don't have an answer.

Kid said...

Z, the left need victims, and pseudo-victims. It's their main support group. People too dependent or believing so, to ask too many questions, if ya know what I mean.

Kid said...

M4E, Homeless. Yep.
