Their cups must runneth over.......start sending...

Got this email today and thought I'd pass it on for your good efforts:

There's a storm abrewin'. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don't work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar. I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all.
O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.
So, here's the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington , D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up. If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.
This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Pary' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will. Send it to; 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington , D.C. 20500 .
Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.
What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. ; Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.

Please send bags.......there isn't much else we CAN do!

Get the message out. How about this.

The GOP thinks health care is a privilege and that insurance industry gouging is a right.

We should put this on billboards to make sure the message gets out. It's a start.

Can I get a 'stimulus package' to get a tea bag? :)

Blessings.

I like that a lot.

Get the message out. How about this: Ducky, sir, why don't you start your own personal trend and post, with photos, your writing a check to the IRS at least double what you owe. Think of how much better you'll feel, indeed!

Have an extra bedroom, Mr Ducky? Why not go downtown and invite a "homeless" man into your house? Think of how much better you'll feel, indeed!

Worried about your own local city's budget? Why not run a camera'd intersection at least twice and then gladly pay a couple of hundred dollars or more to city hall? Think of how much better you'll feel, indeed!

Worried about health care? Why not go back to college, become a nurse or doctor, and then completely volunteer your time to only "minorities" or the "homeless"? Think of how much better you'll feel, indeed!

Matter of fact, rush quick like a bunny and cash out your checking and savings accounts, then begin handing out the luchre in the downtrodden areas of your own locality. Think of how much better you'll feel, indeed!

Ball's in your court, Mr Ducky. You have SO much to do. Get cracking! Go, boy!

Thing is, my bag won't contain tea.

The GOP thinks health care is a privilege...

I hate to break this news to you duck, but where in our Constitution does it state that government has to mend us when we are broken?

The GOP thinks that health care is a FARCE - and it sure as hell is. I never did like socialism.

You bet Z. We'll not only send our tea bags, but, Mr Pris and I are joining some friends and going to a tea party Saturday.

Folks, talk is great, action is better. We have to do something to be heard. Join your local tea party.

The next important election is NOT four years away, it's two years away! We have to vote the robber barons OUT! Meanwhile, we have to make ourselves heard.

So Ducky, government gouging is better? Health care rationing is better?

The Brits have announced that people in advanced stages of cancer will not be provided the drugs they need to prolong their lives. That's rationing! Rationing the right to live.

What the government giveth, the government can take away.

Health care is not a right. Neither is owning a home. Most of us know health care is a necessity and in order to afford it, we do without other things.

There are already programs in place to help the poor.

This has nothing to do with the GOP. It's about freedom to keep what we earn, or what we saved for our retirement years. BTW, those savings required sacrifice, so our children would not be burdened with our care.

I don't expect you to get this Ducky, you're too far gone.

But maybe you'll get this. My family and their wellbeing and freedom is more important to me than irresponsible people not willing to take care of themselves.

If it's OK with you, I'd rather help my family if they need it, instead of your socialist power grab. Got that?

And I'm willing to fight for them too!

let's put those in the film industry on government scale...power to the people!

I think it is a good idea, although I seriously doubt it will make any impact at all.

"The GOP thinks that health care is a FARCE - and it sure as hell is." Yep, it sure is..$7900 per year per person, twice as high as any other industrialized country.
A lot of folks can't afford it, if you get an expensive disease, you lose your insurance. Our healthcare is a joke at the expense of those countries..an example of profit precluding service. Yep..it is a FARCE. :)

ahh the vagaries of the free market...said he... a health care system run like the post office..yuck

I'm with you Z, we have to do something while there is still something left to fight for. One tea bag, coming up!

Actually, I would like to send them a bag of something else besides tea, but I don't think that the Post Office would approve...

This is a great idea. Thanks for posting it!

Well, "teabag" has a different connotation to a former street urchin such as myself.

I think they already have us by the... teabags.

Ah, how lovely to be surrounded by people who "get it". You are (most of you) all giving me so much hope in our future. Thanks for sharing this Z. People need to re-learn that you work for what you get and a government hand out is an insult, not a privilege.

Heck, how about a box of tea bags.

I AM OPTIMISTIC FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I HEARD OBAMA'S NAME...

Good luck with getting them to listen to you folks, if enough of you speak strongly enough they will, after all they are your servants, just need a little reminding.

Ducky's here said...

morgan, I'm saying "rights" are whatever we decide they are.

A civilized people would make a basic level of health care a right, yes. Of course civilized is a bit of a stretch when talking about the far right.

Brooke said...

Are we speaking of the kind of civility that leftist run nationalized health care provides, such as cancer patients in the UK being denied treatment because they're too expensive to treat?

cube said...

I don't think it will help, but I'm game to try.

I will sacrifice one bag of my Earl Grey for the cause.

Ducky's here said...

Brooke, those drugs are not covered by U.S. insurance companies either.

Remember, the left is here to help you. Educated not indoctrinated.

Z said...

Ducky:
"morgan, I'm saying "rights" are whatever we decide they are."

Who are 'we'?

And, do you have Kaiser Insurance? Since when are cancer drugs not covered by private insurance?

Z said...

Ducky..you crossed the line.

ALL I ask here is no insults. That's easy.

Z said...

Ducky, I had no idea there were specific drugs mentioned here by Brooke.
last time I checked, the people I know with cancer, get treatment..good treatment.

Say ANYTHING in dissent of THE ONE, and you're destroyed.

I'm thinking that if we can stop name calling and belittling, we could actually have a chance at better understanding....? Maybe it's just me, though.

Ducky's here said...

z, the drug in question is Sutent. Farmer John posted an article.

The issue is NOT denial of all cancer drugs by the British Health Service.

Ducky's here said...

I have no idea what I wrote which is insulting, z.

Anonymous said...

"The issue is NOT denial of all cancer drugs by the British Health Service."

Ducky, no one said all cancer drugs. Stop obfuscating the issue. The Brits have decided that drugs for people in advanced stages of cancer will no longer be approved.

While I'm at it, I should mention that smokers, and the obese, will no longer qualify for treatment. Period. That's also rationing.

Their universal health care isn't so universal is it? Don't smokers and obese people pay taxes? The British government's health care program is broke. Meaning out of money.

What do you suppose the overhead is? You know, the costs for all the bureaucrats who decide what new regulation is required or who lives or dies?

That's your socialism at work.

Pris

Ducky's here said...

Pris, let's try again. The British National Health service stated it would not pay for two cancer treatments.

These treatments are also not commonly paid for by most US Health Insurers (yes, extremly expensive concierge policies cover them) or Medicare.

Simple.

Ducky's here said...

What do you suppose the overhead is? You know, the costs for all the bureaucrats who decide what new regulation is required or who lives or dies?

--------------------------

No, you would rather that be decided by a clerk at a U.S. insurance company.

Fish in a barrel. Does the right think things through?

Z said...

Ducky, I would prefer you stop being quite so snide. Less name calling.

Please, I think we can get much farther and even start to all understand each other a bit better if we at least stop the name calling and inferences that only the Left has all the answers. I didn't build a blog to have myself and others here so belittled.

obviously, I write against leftist policies in my pieces, and that's not going to stop (sadly, I wish I didn't have to), and I KNOW I can get demeaning too....but let's try to leave the comments a little less snide. Thanks. have a good weekend

Well Ducky, with insurance, we can decide what kind of insurance we want. We can also pay for medicine out of our own pocket.

How much a year does someone pay for car insurance? I know people who complain about the cost of health insurance, but seem to be able to buy a spiffy new sportscar, or other expensive model every other year, and the insurance that goes with it.

Priorities, Ducky, priorities.

Government health care is one size fits all. There ain't no such animal!
