HOLDER....does he understand the law?

The verdict was in.  Not Guilty.  In reaction, there has been damage done in Oakland, California, some in Los Angeles, and other areas, I assume.  I believe the Martins spoke well after the verdict when they appealed for peace after a verdict that was obviously heart wrenching for them.  And I think a lot of Blacks listened to that and respected their wishes.  Not  Sharpton, who is calling for demonstrations...Black leaders aren't happy with no violence, apparently.  Or perhaps they feel that closing freeways in a big city isn't violence?

Obama is talking about gun control now.   He doesn't want this crisis go to waste.

Holder is upset.  The DoJ may be prodded into investigating the case again, spurred on by the NAACP.  The verdict wasn't good enough for them.

Meanwhile, Black kids are killed in cities like Chicago in horrible numbers.  Apparently, the NAACP doesn't give a damn about them.

Apparently, it's only important to our president and attorney general when it's whites killing blacks.  It seems not to matter when blacks kill blacks.

I'm ashamed of our government.  Beyond ashamed.

I love the video I'd posted for today, but had to post again now and highlight Holder and Obama this morning because it's too important to ignore.  And I'd like your input.

...........utterly ashamed.

Well said. Lets face it if Martin was killed by a Black, NOTHING would have been said at all. Just another Black kid killing someone.

Darth, why don't those Black kids matter, too?

And we're supposed to be the racists, right?

Z,
You might be interested in THIS: After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records released Thursday show.

Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.

[...]

Federal agents interviewed Zimmerman’s neighbors and co-workers, but none said Zimmerman had expressed racial animus at any time prior to the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, a black teen, in a confrontation at a Sanford housing complex. As Sanford police investigated the circumstances of Martin’s death, the FBI opened a parallel probe to determine if Martin’s civil rights had been violated.

Several co-workers said they had never seen Zimmerman display any prejudice or racial bias.

[...]

In all, the FBI interviewed 35 people about Zimmerman, from current and former co-workers to neighbors and an ex-girlfriend....

Always On Watch said...

On the other hand, THIS is going to continue to drive the agenda of race baiting: Nearly 450,000 people have signed a petition created by the NAACP after a jury found George Zimmerman not-guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin Saturday, calling for the U.S. Department of Justice to launch a civil rights investigation.

More Balkanization of our republic!

Ducky's here said...

What do you think Holder doesn't understand?
He has jurisdiction to bring a civil rights suit. It is completely independent of the ruling in the state trial.

Will he? No. The bar is quite high to proving such a case and this won't qualify. Remember this when the Feds don't bring a case.

Also remember your post a while back about the civil rights division being there to advise demonstrators. You were incensed but Florida is quiet, demonstrations are non violent. Government might have done some good.

Oakland has a history of extrajudicial police assassinations of black men that goes back quite far. The recent release of a very good documentary, Fruitland Station chronicles one such recent killing. The anger in Oakland doesn't take much to touch off and you shouldn't be surprised.

The most cogent aspect of this case is the desperation on the right to completely exonerate Zimmerman. The need to say that the black kid got what he deserved, death.
That attitude is going to play out in ways we don't see right now.

Z said...

AOW....I know...it's not about race, but the racists will make it about race.
And yes, I believe that NAACP threat is what's spurring Holder on; that, and his own outrage and hopes that this is about race.

Ducky, please read my comments on the last post.
And please stop it; most people feel terribly about Trayvon's death. You should, too.
But, conservatives feel badly about ALL children killed, not just Black kids killed by White people. We believe the Black on Black deaths are horrible and important to address and we hope against hope that the NAACP will show its outrage and that HOlder would address that, too. Or Obama.
No, Obama's using this to open up the gun control conversation again and HOlder IS talking about more law suits.

There is no proof government was involved at all in demonstrations once the trial started. I kept telling you it was before, when the system there decided this shouldn't be brought to trial, that they apparently intervened and got the people hopped up.

If anything, government is hopping people up again with Holder's comments this morning.

What Holder doesn't understand is that his wanting this to be a hate crime doesn't make it so.

Z said...

Re Oakland; (and other places)... if Black violent crime wasn't so much higher than White, perhaps the police would be fairer. Just a thought.
Another thought might be that the NAACP and our Black Attorney General might want to talk on that...or work behind the scenes against it.
Instead, I think crime will go up in the convincing of Blacks that America's still so darned racist.
How irresponsible and stupid.

Holder today "We are resolved, as you are (the Black sorority to which he spoke this AM), to combat violence involving or directed at young people, to prevent future tragedies and to deal with the underlying attitudes, mistaken beliefs and stereotypes that serve as the basis for these too common incidents."

You think he means ALL "young people" when he talks about "underlying attitudes, mistaken beliefs and stereotypes...?" :-)
By the way, WOULD that so many of those beliefs truly WERE 'mistaken'....which is what he won't get to. Getting to that point is what we need to help all children, not more crap from him promoting the kind of feelings Trayvon must have felt.."that white guy's after me...gotta get him back.."

you should have gone HOME, Trayvon. NObody wanted to get you; they just wanted you to be on your way. To safety. Not robbing someone like the rest of the burglaries in the area all of which had apparently been by black burglars.

I was just listening to a CNN conversation with Black and White talking heads...
I have to admit it was really quite balanced.
The interviewer even mentioned my point about how Sharpton and Jackson aren't anywhere to be found when Blacks are killing Blacks. The Blacks on the panel couldn't answer that...But they did say Obama's addressed that. I have never heard of, but perhaps he has. Once?

My hope is that Black kids will understand that most people are NOT racist and that maybe ask themselves if it's racism or experience that makes people fear Black youth walking aimlessly on the street.

Once more the naacp has to prove how really worthless, biased and racist they are. An organization that should have died long ago needs this new round of racial discord to justify their existence.

Shameful, pitiful and pathetic that it's just ONE back "kid" they care about...and not the 9000 per year that lie dead in the streets of urban American cities...by other blacks....91% of them dead at the hands of their own.

Sharpton should be fired... the felon and liar that he is. But no...he's not ready...so long as there's more hate for this POS to feed on like the parasitical vermin amoeba he is. So long as he can cut a deal to profit off this with those sorry, grieving parents.

Is Eric Holder interested in this hate speech?

Excerpt:

KING SAMIR SHABAZZ says black people should create militias to exterminate whites, skin them alive, pour acid on them, sic pit bulls on them, bust their heads with rocks and even raid nurseries to "kill everything white in sight."

"I would love nothing more than to come home with a cracker's head in my book bag," Shabazz, a Philly street preacher and national field marshal for the New Black Panther Party, said on a black-power radio show.

Such sentiment hasn't gotten him arrested....

It's real, real hard to remain so today with the great divider and Earache Holder succeeding and turning back race relations at least 60 years. One would think the both of them are doing their very best(?) to accomplish this.

And both of these men have inserted themselves into race matters from the very beginning. We're seeing a "new" DOJ that now wants to upset the entire country with their biased, racist remarks and actions.

Ducky said "remember your post a while back about the civil rights division being there to advise demonstrators. You were incensed but Florida is quiet, demonstrations are non violent. Government might have done some good."

The actual documents from the Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act request show copies of Justice Department expense statements justifying hundreds of dollars spent in the organization of protests, prior to the indictment and trial of George Zimmerman. So, call the government's actions good, or otherwise. The government did intervene to prejudice the public.

Ducky further said, "The most cogent aspect of this case is the desperation on the right to completely exonerate Zimmerman."

I believe that is your invention. The fact is that a jury has given a verdict of Not Guilty. If that exonerates Zimmerman, so be it. Maybe you remember another cop wannabe named, Richard Jewell, who was being railroaded by the FBI and the news media for the Atlanta Olympic bombing. In Jewel's case he did nothing, but like Zimmerman, he was judged by people (including me) with information gleaned from press accounts.

Another person who has been judged because of the press is Trayvon Martin. The kid was a wannabe thug, neighborhood tough, drug user, and martial arts fighter. He was seventeen, and was physically a tall person. Just look at his relative height compared to the clerk in the convenience store security video. Trayvon was not physically a child.

If I had been attacked, knocked to the pavement, and was having my head banged into the pavement repeatedly by a thug, given a gun I would shoot, too. I believe Ducky would do the same thing.

Trayvon was not innocent. The press just sanitized his character. I regret that the young man died, as we all do. Maybe better parenting, better schools, or better something would have kept Trayvon from straying into the stupid path. The fact that there are thousands more Trayvons out there is a tragedy unto itself. My heart aches for Trayvon's parents, and all the parents of all the Trayvons. I know what it is like to lose a child.

"The recent release of a very good documentary, Fruitland Station"

I Googled the film and got no satisfactory results. Perhaps you can furnish a link.

It is easy to pick a side in the Trayvon controversy. I am taking the side of publicly protesting if the Justice Department brings civil rights charges against George Zimmerman.

CAIR Welcomes DOJ Civil Rights Review of Trayvon Martin Case

Ducky's here said...

Bob, let's review:

1. The point I made about the justice departments presence is that the demonstrations have been non violent and they may have assisted.
Certainly you aren't so naive that you don't see the possibility for wide spread violence here. Note it has not occurred.

2. As I have stated on this board I don't have a serious issue with the verdict. Second degree murder was a ridiculous reach in this case.
However, I do believe this case should be seen from the perspective of the cowboy gun loon Zimmerman profiling and determining who belongs and who doesn't.
Zimmerman was told to back off but decided to be a vigilante because "they always get away with it".
I missed the portion of the trial where it was put in evidence that Martin did anything criminal other than scare the white folks.

Let me ask this of your comeback is..."his injuries were superficial or not that bad"...would you have risked the same beating yourself?

Please, Ducky, lay off the ad hominem stuff. We can save our gratuitous insults when it is more fun. I truly grieve for Trayvon and his parents.

BTW, I was in Memphis working for a tv station when Dr King was killed. I remember the riots, and I remember almost being run over by a National Guard tank as I was driving home from work at 7:30 on a Sunday morning. I might be ignorant of some things, but I am not naive about the potential for widespread riots, whether there's a reason for the riots or not.

2. As I have stated on this board I don't have a serious issue with the verdict. Second degree murder was a ridiculous reach in this case.

Noted, and agreed.

" However, I do believe this case should be seen from the perspective of the cowboy gun loon Zimmerman profiling and determining who belongs and who doesn't."

What's profiling, and how does it apply to this situation? Did Zimmerman notice that Trayvon was black? Yes. Does that mean that Zimmerman was racist? No. Did Trayvon profile Zimmerman as a white man? Probably. Maybe I don't understand profiling, or maybe it means whatever a person wants it to mean.
Please apply your principles equally. You argument needs specifics, and there are none about racism with the exception of the FBI investigation. Not racist, they concluded.

" Zimmerman was told to back off but decided to be a vigilante because "they always get away with it".

We learned that Zimmerman was under no legal obligation to obey the 911 operator. The operators are just citizens employed as glorified telephone operators. They gave good advice, but it was not heeded. Not a legal problem no matter what we think.

In my opinion Zimmerman missed a good opportunity to stop the chase, but he was rightfully concerned with the prospect that Trayvon was up to no good because Trayvon fled away in back of the apartments. It turns out that he ran to his Dad's girlfriend's backyard, talked to his girlfriend on his cell phone, and then hooked back around to attack Zimmerman.

" I missed the portion of the trial where it was put in evidence that Martin did anything criminal other than scare the white folks."

Trayvon Martin unarguably attacked George Zimmerman. Period. Trayvon's fists and the sidewalk were acknowledged by everyone to have been in play before Zimmerman's gun. That makes Trayvon the aggressor. Those who belittle Zimmerman's wounds have never been in a fight. First of all, it is difficult to pin a man's arms as the man on the bottom is squirming and thrashing for his life. Secondly, the sidewalk is a potent weapon. Just fall head first on one, let alone let someone slam your head on it multiple times. It will get your attention if you survive.

Thanks for a temperate reply. I appreciate it, and we don't have to sling our favorite insults all the time. I will say that I thought you were getting close to triggering the optical recticality fallacy, but I didn't want to get too nasty.

Cheers.

Anyone who makes the argument that there is no evidence that Zimmerman was seriously assaulted doesn’t know what he or she is talking about. Moreover, they don’t understand the nature of head wounds and injuries. Neither do they understand the law as it relates to the right of citizens to defend themselves. The "stand your ground law" did not have a bearing on this case.

Anyone who claims that Zimmerman was or is a racist also doesn’t know anything about Zimmerman. He dated a black woman, he mentored black children, he defended a black man assaulted by a police officer, and his efforts on behalf of his community were stellar.

Anyone who claims that Trayvon Martin wasn’t a racist is either a liar, or is living in denial. Trayvon Martin was not a child. Children do not mount assaults against “full grown men.” The assault upon Zimmerman was criminal assault and battery, which means that Martin was the criminal, and Zimmerman was defending himself.

Anyone who claims that Zimmerman failed to obey the instructions of the police dispatcher doesn’t know the testimony that dispatcher gave in court. Under oath, he admitted that in fact he did ask Zimmerman, “Where did the suspect go?” Zimmerman thought the dispatcher was thus asking him to find out where Martin went … which is why he followed him around the house: to answer the dispatcher’s question.

The witness Jeantel is proof that the liberal plan is working. I’m speaking now about the liberal plan to reduce racial relations in this country to a shambles by making citizens stupid, keeping them misinformed, and making the rely upon the government for their sense of self-worth. I believe this to be true because no one benefits from such discord except for the progressive communists of the Democratic Party. If anyone needed more evidence of this, simply listen to the race baiters, which includes Eric Holder, discuss “further investigations.” There is no justification for an additional look into this case.

A young kid in a hoodie going between houses in a rainy dark night in my relatively crime free neighborhood would warrant at minimum a 911 call, white, black or green.

A few years ago I watched our next door neighbor boy when he was taking a short cut across our backyard late one night. I KNEW who he was and I STILL didn't trust a young guy out prowling the neighborhood late at night.

Before brain dead Libnut retorts, the neighbor boy is the same race as me.

After reading more about the evidence the state hid, I'm convinced the state of Florida DID cause this.

Miami chief Hurley wanted better crime statistics so he deliberately suppressed the crimes of the school kids, including Martin.

Maybe, just maybe, if Martin had faced the criminal system for possessing stolen property and marijuana in Miami he would have thought twice about his wanna be gangsta lifestyle.

Sadly, there was NO role model to stop Trayvon's date with destiny.

"Jackson requested a greater level of tolerance toward intolerable behavior because black boys were receiving a disproportionate amount of the punishment in relation to their percentage within the student community. Of course, once again all of this ignores behavior.

Don’t discipline the thuggery; Don’t address the behavior; Just put up with it or lower the expectation appears to be the resounding message. Black boys just can’t control themselves is the unspoken narrative, even by the President of The United States."

The soft bigotry of low expectations...is everywhere....

Notice.."" in relation to their percentage within the student community.."

Or in relation to their numbers in the country...it's disproportionately black crime once again. So why are we surprised it's in our schools too? Apparently...that's where it begins...instead of heading it off there.

@Z:

And I love this line in your opener...

"Not Sharpton, who is calling for demonstrations...Black leaders aren't happy with no violence, apparently. Or perhaps they feel that closing freeways in a big city isn't violence?"

Fat Al has a fiduciary responsibility to sell more Trayvon shirts and hoodies, doesn't he? Plus the Martins get a nice cut too since they've marketed his likeness and name.

Obama thinks; 100 million American gun owners are potential killers.

Obama thinks: Natural born American citizens are second class compared to illegals.

Obama thinks: the right to self defense is a matter of Democrat opinion.

Obama thinks: he can open his mouth and change history and reality with a couple of sentences read from his teleprompter.

Obama thinks he can use dead grade schoolers and teachers to promote his anti-Constitution agenda.

Obama thinks: he's so popular he can predetermine the verdict of a jury anywhere in the country.

Obama thinks he can get away with jury tampering and not face impeachment.

Obama thinks stirring people to deadly riots is legal when he does it.

Well Bob, you didn't reply to number 1.

You completely avoid the issue of Zimmerman profiling Martin. ...
"

Sorry, Ducky, I thought I did address the act of profiling. I said that I don't understand what profiling is. Perhaps you can tell me.

If racial profiling is identifying someone with their obvious race, then maybe Zimmerman recognized that Trayvon was black. So what? Is that racial profiling? Did Zimmerman take any action because of Trayvon's race? The answer according to the facts of the case is there is no evidence that this happened.

But, people have been hiding their identities under hoods for thousands of years. That is why criminals are called, HOODS! Trayvon was profiled as being a HOOD, and he happened to be black. The neighborhood where Zimmerman lived was full of black, Hispanic, and white people that APPROVED of the watch committee. I could bd wrong, but Trayvon was staying at his Dad's girlfriend's house IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. Maybe somebody can check this out for me.

Guys wearing hoodies come through my neighborhood, occasionally, and if I don't know them (hard to tell), I watch them like a hawk, and I am obvious about it.

My black neighbor wears hoodies when he runs his daily five miles, but I can tell it is him by his running gait. I guess I profile him as a neighbor.

We know from the evidence that Trayvon profiled Zimmerman as a "Ugly-Ass Cracker". Now, I don't know what a cracker is, but Trayvon certainly profiled Zimmerman.

Ducky, I know you can be articulate when you want. I need for you to tell me how Zimmerman "profiled" Trayvon.

Cheers.

ducky....

Minorities are sick of white people protecting their own neighborhoods and property?

try walking through a black neighborhood at night. See how far you get.

If Ducky would look beyond what he's been fed, he might have seen this.

Zimmerman passed lied detector test.

I'm sure it wasn't used in that way but, in Florida, a Cracker is a native Floridian.

Scotty: Come to think of it, one time a guy in Pennsylvania called me a "grit". I thought at the time that he was abusing me verbally, but could not bring myself to dislike the term. I love grits. It is really hard to find something negative about an entire southern food group.

I was raised in upstate New York. My first experience with grits was in the military. I thought it was Cream of Wheat!!

I got some in the chow line and at my table I put milk and sugar on 'em. Then I questioned the looks I got at the table I was at....they enlightened me what they were.

They still tasted great with the milk and sugar added.

....more on the safety of hispanics in black neighborhoods...

Baltimore police say they are investigating a witness account that a group of black youths beat a Hispanic man near Patterson Park Sunday while saying, "This is for Trayvon."

A witness posted the account on a community Facebook page, and police confirmed they are looking into whether the suspects' reaction to the verdict in the Florida trial of George Zimmerman played a part in the incident. A police report on the beating does not mention the alleged comments.

Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, a police spokesman, declined to go into further detail.

In a post that drew nearly 50 comments on Facebook, real estate agent Christina Dudley said she was walking to her car just before 9 p.m. when she saw several young black males and two black females chasing a 37-year-old Hispanic man west on North Linwood Avenue past East Fairmont Avenue.

"One of the boys had a handgun out and it was pointed at the back of him," Dudley said in an interview.

They caught up to the man at the corner of Fairmount and N. Streeper Street, and the male with the gun beat the victim with what appeared to be his gun while others kicked and stomped him, Dudley said.

"They were just yelling and calling him names as they ran after him, but once they were hitting him and after that they started yelling, "This is for Trayvon, [expletive]," said Dudley, who heard the chant repeated multiple times.

Dudley and a woman walking her dog across the street told the group to stop and warned that they were calling 911. The group scattered before police arrived. Police have no arrests or named suspects.

Using a translator, police spoke to the victim, who knows some English, according to the police report. The victim told officers that he was standing in the intersection of Fairmont and N. Potomac Street when a group of five black males first approached him.

He described all of the males as between 16 and 18 and told police a 6-foot suspect with a black "stretchy" shirt and mohawk told him, "What's up, [expletive]." When the victim raised his phone to call 911, the suspect raised his shirt and flashed a silver handgun in his waistband.

The victim turned and ran before he was caught in the 2800 block of Fairmont and was beaten, police said. He sustained abrasions to his elbows and forearms but refused medical attention.

Police listed all of the suspects involved as black males. Three were "skinny" while one was described as overweight.

would you believe the first time I had shrimp 'n grits (or grits of ANY kind) was in Paris, France? :)
Americans had come from Virginia and brought them with them. It was delicious.
But, really, if you've eaten Polenta in Italian food, that's GRITS ;-)
