Just wanted to post a message to mention that today is my 11-year anniversary of being in the best country on the planet. Still is. For how long, I don't know.

It's my Quatro de Mayo. My independence day from Socialist France. God bless America.

Please join me in congratulating our friend and frequent commenter, FrogBurger....I know him and his terrific wife and wish you could, too!

Awww thank you, Z. That's very sweet. Best anniversary gift. I wish I could have a party with all the people on the blog. Even Ducky ;-)

Congratulations, FB!

I wish more folks felt like you do. Great sentiments!

Thanks Brooke, malcontent, FairWitness.

My sister who lives close to Oakland is like me. She was telling me yesterday that she'd rather be in a red state. Which surprised me because she was not super political till now. So maybe it's a good sign.

Yeah Froggy, my friends actually consider me a pretty funny guy.

Best of luck in the future.

Hint: Get me talking about films, baseball, my nieces, the Renaissance ... I'm really a decent sort.

Welcome to America...11 years later. We do have a wonderful country, and I think you know that. We just have a few (?) wacko's out there, but most of us are 'normal'.

I'm sure you're funny Ducky. In my 11 years, I've learned that you're not supposed to talk about politics too much in the US. I guess it's true b/c you piss me off big time :)) Sorry I can't talk baseball. I like playing but that's it.

Frog, it is a pleasure to give you a big party here even in this simple way...maybe I'll add a birthday cake or something as a blog image right now, come to think of it!

Ducky, I'm sure you're a good sort, too......not so sure about a sense of humor, but I can try to imagine that :-)

M. Grenouille!

I hadn't realize you were not born here. Your English is so good.

M. Canard est, peut etre, tres gentil en realité? Il parait vraiment aveugle sur la difference entre la gauche et le droit.

There is a tendency to lapse into caricature when talking politics. Religion an politics are not considered acceptable topics for conversation in polite society here.

Perhaps that's just as well. too much anger makes food indigestible.

At any rate, we are so glad you decided to be one of us.

It's ironic. I have a friend from college days who went to France in 1967 and has never come back to the United States, except for short family visits every few years. Apparently, socialism suits him very well, but he has told me he "never questions" anything.

As my mother used to say, "It takes all kinds of people to make a world."

Bonjour!

FT, I don't like socialism but Mr Z and I (with his position there) never had to face much of that while living in Paris...I'd live there again in a HEARTBEAT if I could and if I knew I could come BACK on a heartbeat!

FB, I am so happy that you are having this anniversary! So many in Europe are stuck there. I think we got one heck of a great citizen when you came on board! Big Cyber Hug and Hearty Congratulations!

FreeThinkie, HoosierMom, Thanks.

No I wasn't born here but maybe my soul was. I am passionate about LaFayette so maybe in a past life I was around him. I'm reading about him now and it's amazing how much I recognize myself in his ideals. His relationship with Washington is fascinating. LaFayette is my hero now.

You're right, Mr. Canard est completement aveugle. Il devrait s'appeler Mr. Taupe :)

Happy Anniversary FrogBurger...is that a real food, by the way?

You know the expression, "tastes just like chicken?" As a kid at a squadron picnic for my dad, I had a plate full of fried frog legs that I thought was chicken. I was eating them just fine until my mom had to tell me what it was..then, not so much. LOL

Again..hope you had a great day!

sorry I'm a little late, but congrats FB. We're happy to have you here.

FrogBurger isn't a real food but why not? Maybe I should make one. Some frog legs between buns. Maybe some cajun seasoning. That can't be too bad as it tastes like chicken indeed.
