The Ground Zero Mosque ..... looks like a done deal

New York's City Council has backed the construction of a huge mosque in the shadows of Ground Zero.........A Manhattan Community Board voted last night, 29 to 1, with 10 abstentions, to give it the go. Here is some of the sentiment at last night's meeting:

Jean Grillo, 65, a writer from TriBeCa, said shutting out any faith undermined American values. “What better place to teach tolerance than at the very area where hate tried to kill tolerance?” she said.

My goodness. America...God bless you, you REALLY need it. Does anybody care what Americans think of this? Anybody give a darn about the families of those who died at the hands of islamists on 9/11? (“The pain never goes away,” Mr. Hanson said. “When I look over there and I see a mosque, it’s going to hurt. Build it someplace else.”) It's not SO much the construction of the mosque, there are many of them in NYC and around this country very suddenly (many more since 9/11), it's WHERE it's being built. Why doesn't that matter? Mayor Bloomberg is squarely on the mosque's side in this, by the way.

Here's another quote : "The families of Sept. 11 victims "would be wounded by erecting a mega mosque so close to the place where their loved ones were massacred," said Viviana Hernandez, a chaplain. "Even though they may have altruistic reasons, the real terrorists will see it as a win on their side."
Amen, Chaplain Hernandez. Then there's this from this link:

But Manhattan borough president Scott Stringer said that "for anyone to imply that a mosque is not appropriate in New York . . . , that is just an un-American attitude."

What are your thoughts on this? Please let us know.

I started thinking about this a couple of weeks ago when I first heard about it. I think the NY leaders would like a mosque to be built there, because then they think they would be free from another attack.

The Muslims are taking over.

But maybe it's a good idea after all.. Maybe terrorists will be less likely to bomb this area if there's a mosque there.

It will be difficult for me to have compassion for future NYC if this comes to pass. I don't think it is a done deal yet, but you know ... we should be surprised by nothing.

I'm sure Muslims would let us build a Rick Warren-style mega-church atop the ashes of a productive center of commerce if they could come up with one to knock down first.

Well, don't forget THIS, please. New York may be RUN by radical liberals, and kooks, but there are FITEEN MILLION people in the New York Metropolitan Area. Ninety-Nine PERCENT of them have NO control over what goes on, and don't even know enough to CARE.

I'm sorry, but I have a LOT of sympathy for New York. For one thing it's my home town, and for another it houses a multitude of magnificent works of architecture, art, and significant historical relics. To see it destroyed would just about destroy me.

To be callously indifferent to the plight of MILLIONS of innocent lives is appalling.

But a MOSQUE on Ground Zero is like the deliberate implantation of the AIDS virus in the body of a brilliant and beautiful child.

May God forever DAMN the imbeciles who made this revolting decision -- and anyone who SUPPORTS it.

Ah not exactly Debbie. A large number of dead, well over a thousand were foreigners.

Now I know that illegals working in the kitchen crews were just extra people and don't deserve to be recognized nor do the Muslims who were in the tower but I thought I'd correct you since I know the right values accuracy (joke sign UP)

I'm not happy with this decision. Nope. And I don't care what the moslem-appeasing liberals think of my decision.

It's my understanding that the planned grand opening of this mosque will take place on
Sept. 11, 2011.

This is a celebration by the Islamists, of victory. The fools in offialdom of NY, preach tolerance. Tolerance of what, butchery? Sharia law? People who believe women have half the value of men? Stupid infidels!

If this is being allowed because officials believe it will guarantee security for New York, they are agreeing out of fear, and appeasement, and the Islamists know it.

Excuse me but, these are people willing to blow themselves up, what security?

Welcome to New Yorkistan, adopted by appeasers and cowards.

“What better place to teach tolerance than at the very area where hate tried to kill tolerance?” she said.

News flash for her! Teaching tolerance to jihadomaniacs is an exercise in futility. The very concept of tolerance is anathema to them. Moreover, they see tolerance as weakness and further proof the Islam should dominate the world.

Zuhdi Jasser on the topic of this mosque:

To put it bluntly, Ground Zero is the one place in America where Muslims should think less about teaching Islam and "our good side" and more about being American and fulfilling our responsibilities to confront the ideology of our enemies.

[...]

Americans must always remember the horrors of 9/11 and must be vigilant in not allowing political Islam to wear down the principles that built our country.

This center is trying to change the narrative of 9/11 -- to diminish what happened at Ground Zero. That can only weaken us against the very real threat of Islamist radicalization.

Now, I know that Zhudi Jasser is not perfect, but he does make some interesting points in the first link I left above.

THINK, man, stop pulling one little snippett you can attack out of a story and missing integrity in your comments.

ALways...isn't that wonderful surgeon in AZ who I saw speak almost 2 years ago named Jasser? This isn't the same guy, is it? I wish I had time to seek out his name again...I'll check later.
Thanks for the input.

You're ALL right, of course (except Ducky, OF COURSE :-)
This is an abomination and, yes, the opening is set for 9/11, Pris, but there is NO WAY that sucker will be finished by 2011...I was in construction/design too long to know that!

FT is right: THE ULTIMATE INSULT..and we're handing it to them on a silver platter.

I love how 'tolerance' is preached when it has to do with anything and everything Muslim.

So now we shall see a huge trophy constructed for the attack upon American soil --all in the name of tolerance. I seem to remember the "American Way" as being something quite different. Ask any veteran who fought for that difference.

But at least the Muslims won't be offended.

A lot of people speaking "for the families of the victims" but that hardly carries the kind of weight that a statement from the families carries and I haven't heard much from them.

Of course they aren't going to be treated as rudely as The Jersey Girls were under Chucklenuts.

Then we have Mustang who seems to imply that NYC will experience God's wrath due to this. Xenophobia in the extreme.

The Islamic center is called Cordoba House.

Click on the link for a short explanation of its significance.

Z said...

Mustang..here's a clippet from your link(thanks, by the way) "Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said the center would help "bridge and heal a divide" among Muslims and other religious groups.
Perhaps the Imam is sincere but I find the whole project an outrage. The name Cordoba House at best conveys a total insensitivity to the families of victims of the attack at worse it shows sympathy with the terrorist's goals. Cordoba, was the Capital of Al-Andalus the Islamic Caliphate that ruled much of Spain during the Middle Ages. One of Al-Qaida's main goals announced after the 9/11 attack was the restoration of the Cordoba Caliphate in Al-Andalus."

Ya, and this imama who wants to heal and bridge was on TV the other day, I saw him, saying that "You know, I really don't NEED anybody's approval to build this center.." #@&(*#&

And yes, Cordoba House...isn't THAT a sign? Is NOBODY PAYING ATTENTION? Are liberals REALLY this hideous and unthinking??

"I do understand what you're getting at in comparing Bloomberg to those poor souls who had so much put upon them; I guess one would THINK Bloomberg would wake UP and see with disgust what he's approving will be foisted on ALL OF AMERICA if this damned mosque is built."

I'll respond to you and the malcontents...who somehow think that I've offended, mocked or used anti semitism in my reference to Jews in NYC. I admit...I'm not a Parker, Coulter or a Mark Stein that have the gift of communicating so clearly and cleverly in disembodied text. I wish I could.

To me...it's another example of our fellow citizens ability to accuse some of us of racism, islamophobia or xenophobia way to readily and easily when they deem a comment offensive...rather than an observation.

My comment wasn't an accusation nor a condemnation of Jews in NY...in the way a sharpton, jackson or farrakhan / wright would mean it when they say it....for example....Them Joooooossss!

No...it was meant to sat that in NY...Jews have a tremendous influence on the arts, politics, culture and opinion and the governing of NYC. Just as latinos have tremendous influence in LA, Tucson, Phoenix, Santa Fe and San Antonio. Just like blacks have control over the cities of Atlanta, Baltimore, philadelphia, Newark, Camden, Trenton, Detroit...and the muslims have control over Dearborn.

Simple as that. We tend to vote in monolithic blocks today. Blacks for blacks...latinos for latinos, whites for whites and jews vote for jews. So we vote our interests and choose an identity that mirrors our own personal identification with the candidate / government. Do you think that Valligrosa of LA voted to boycott AZ because he really believed it was and illegal act? Not a chance. He voted that way to appease his constituents...who are a majority of latinos. Period. And he voted along "racial" ethnic lines. He felt the poor illegals were being picked on and singled out...even if they were law breaking intruders. It only mattered to him...that they were fellow tribe members....forget the law.

My...fellow Jews...my inlaws, my cousins, my children, many of my friends...all vote the same way. They fail to see beyond their tribal commitments and ethnic loyalties. Take for example that Broward, Palm Beach and other southern counties in Florida...are and have been predominately Jewish. There's no way a man like Alan West has a chance in hell....even if he was white...of being elected to Congress from South Florida. The current office holder is Jewish...he's golden...he's the clear winner...even though the better man...is clearly Alan West. But...despite all the involvement of Jews in the civil rights movement...they won't vote for him. Blood...means more than competence and eclipses PC'ism and their support of diversity in these cases. Or maybe they haven't forgotten that the likes of farrakhan, sharpton, wright and jackson...have professed their hate of Jews in Crown Heights, NYC and Chicago?

My point about NYC was...why or how could they have forgotten that muslims have professed and still demand...the annihilation of Jews around the world...the destruction of Israel and their stated desire for another holocaust? Why would they allow and permit the insult of a mosque towering over the graves of THEIR...dead?

With the influence that they have in their hands...why wouldn't they unite and demand that this will not be allowed in that city? They have the power, the influence, the votes and the money...to buy the damn site and preserve it as a historical site...rather than turn it over to professed killers and murderers...of Jews worldwide.

I've tried to make myself clear...like I said...I don't have the gift like FT, Prisc or Ms. Z. But I think we're all way too sensitive at times.
I so wanted the people of NY led by my Jewish friends....to become,enraged,angry...and not capitulate once again to their own demise.

As I've said before, Islam is a retched religion. It should be made extinct. Give me a license to do it and I'd gladly voluteer.

These politically correct ass-hats are going to get a LOT of people killed. If we're lucky they will be the first.

Greywolfe said...

Yeah Z, I know. It is over the top, but just think. After the next major attack, it will be mainstream thought. If Americans can still be brought out of this paralysis called political correctness.

Z said...

Greywolfe, I don't mean anything to do with islam being 'over the top'..I was referring to Major's mention of Jews..... "They meekly surrendered to the brown shirts over 60 years ago and many are still alive to remember their complete acquiescence and bowing to the Nazi thugs. Yet...even so...the Nazi's saw their weakness and still had their krystalnacht. And once gain..apathy, complacency and "acceptance of diversity" will gain them what? "

I over reacted to what he'd said, sort of...and I let him know, that's all.

As for muslims, when they start marching in the tens of thousands throughout our country in solidarity against islamists, THEN I'll be warning people here not to get over the top about them. :-)

Greywolfe said...

Z, I'm sure the irony isn't lost on you, but your comment on the Jews' propensity for surrender and appeasance to those that would do them harm could very well be used to define America today. Or at least the America in power and in control of the mainstream media.

Right, Greywolfe, and I think that was major's exact point.
Thanks, it's good to have you around :-)

I doubt if anyone will read or has read this...but I thought I'd post it because someone in NY apparently agrees with my thought too!

( New Yorkers )"apparently are oblivious to the fact that the very thing Islamic fundamentalists wish for is the destruction of all other religions and cultures, and the void filled with their religion and culture. This is about as close as you could get to such a thing without building a mosque directly on Ground Zero.

Those that claim that this demonstrates that we’ve “gotten over it”, or “moved on” are apparently living in fantasyland where the War on Terror is over. It’s not, nor is it going to be for quite some time, and even when it is finished, the point was to never forget.

This is a travesty, and the recognition of it as a travesty is not Islamophobia, despite what some moral relativists and people who see no difference between religions might think. It’s a sickening display of submission, acquiescence, and sycophancy. Those responsible for this are cowards who have been trembling for years, and believe that this will somehow please those that threaten all of us. Will they never learn?

Thanks

Funny! Right after 911 I wrote at Lucianne Goldberg's site that we ought to build a single tower taller than the WTC with an enormous sculptured HAND in gleaming metal at the top. This hand naturally would extend its middle finger skyward.

The middle could be used like the Statue of Liberty with a viewing area discreetly placed close to the fingertip.

I STILL think it's a great idea.
