Please come back tomorrow morning to see my review of Jonathan Alter's "slobbering love affair" about Obama and his first year in office, entitled THE PROMISE.

I heard enough during Alter's appearance on Imus this week. What a BO kissfest. One excuse after another.

I saw that, too, and that's what I'll be talking about..glad you watch Imus, too. I have to watch at 3 AM! Well, it's good when you can't sleep!

One thing Alter does point out in his book is Obama has a gratitude gap. I've long considered this a MAJOR character flaw - in anyone. Those who aren't grateful either feel they are a victim or the world owes it to them, or both.

Alter writes about Obama's "shortcomings in gratitude" and "gratitude was one of the few qualities that did not come to President Obama naturally; it was learned behavior."

In an interview Alter backpedaled on how Obama is so secure, not needy, and really a gracious person. But none of that has anything to do with gratitude.

Deborah, thanks for that information.
We'll talk about it tomorrow, but one thing I'd share here tonight is that Alter said Obama was amazingly confident, utterly self possessed, which is scary to me seeing that he had such a troubling upbringing, really pathological situations with parents, countries, color, hhate filled mentoring.....one has to wonder what created this confidence or is he that stiff and protective and well trained to put that across?

No gratitude, huge confidence..scary to me.
A friend mentioned that she, like I, had seen Obama's demeanor in shaking hands with 1000 cadets in 58 min at the WestPoint graduation yesterday; she had a different take...that he looked pleased because he knew THEY must be so thrilled to meet HIM...:-)

"slobbering love affair?"

What is it about leftists and their monolithic personality cults?

Did you see where Obama referred the murder of Daniel Pearl as "Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”

In front of Daniel Pearl's family.

Think of that the next time you hear our messianic staple gun loader harp about being sensitive to the feelings of Muslims.

There really ought to be a category on the low end of the IQ charts called "Obama-level stupid."

I saw Mrs. Pearl at that signing but had not heard O said this....then he proceeded to give the mid finger salute to the 'free press' as they shouted questions and he wouldn't take any.
priceless

Yes, that combination of utter confidence and no gratitude is most unhealthy. Self-esteem and lack of wisdom - what a dangerous combo!

Beamish - I can't believe such an insentive remark on Daniel Pearl. And totally misguided. Boy, that's not the message the rest of us took away. Or maybe he never read or heard of Bernard Henri Levi's excellent book on his murder. The President does have trouble saying "islamic extremists" now doesn't he?

Ya, the killing of Pearl reminded ME of how brutal islamists are.........I don't know about you guys.

It's sort of like reverse-engineering what passes for leftist thought to get to what they're really thinking. Clinton made deep cuts in the military and called it "cutting the size of government."

Who knew the government's size was measured in Navy ships and Army divisions? Maybe to minds plagued by the ubiquitous totalitarian urges found in all things leftist, but for the rest of us, such things are properly catagorized as catastrophically imbecilic.

Without making the completely absurd error of assuming a leftist could pour out a cup of water even if the instructions to do so were printed on the bottom of the cup, you can reverse-engineer Obama's "one of those moments" statement about Daniel Pearl's murder at the hands of Islamic extremists to find the heart of it:

"Daniel Pearl's murder video on YouTube is really cool."

Why not post it up now?

Tied up in the "Lost" finale?

Tied up in the what?

I don't know what "Lost" is, Beamish.
Ducky, I'm glad you asked....
I accidentally published this yesterday when I was preparing it for automatic publication and I know the title goes to a lot of blogs, then they come here and don't see it because I didn't want to publish anything but the SUnday Faith Blog on Sunday....
I want my bloggers to know that...it's happened before and people have commented "Where's that piece on ....?"
