White tennis clothes....we saw this coming...

This is what happens when you give an INCH.
Bring back all white tennis clothes, please......What was wrong with tradition?.....I don't WANT to see Venus Williams in black and red corsets.

I SO don't want to. You agree?

Racist? Nope...you'd hate baggy pants on the tennis court too....wouldn't you? Money, obviously can't buy class...when you want to look like a main street hooker on a tennis court.

I think women tennis should be played naked :D

technically I'm with FB but I know this isn't realistic so lingerie such as this is the next best thing.

oh yeah...{end sarcasm]

Beth, I thought of that, too! WHITE clothing? OH MY GOSH!! :-)

Major, I just liked what white tennis clothing looked like; I suppose there are some who don't even remember when that was the rule!

FB, VERY funny, typical FRENCHMAN! :-)
Elbro..YOU STOP THAT!! HA!!!

Hi, DeanO..welcome to geeeeZ and yes, they're pushing the clothing line...exactly right.
We must BOTH be 'getting old'...God bless!

That outfit is dreadful. Not all of these athletes are like Sharpova. I would pay not to see Billy Jean King naked.

BEAK "I would pay not to see Billy Jean King naked." You made me howl!! THAT is so funny! (and ya, me too!!!)

Her name is Venus. Vanessa is the singer/actress.

Been that way for awhile now.

Yes, I see what you mean Z …

It is no longer sufficient to watch two top-notch athletes compete with one another, the best one winning the match. Now what we are talking about is marketing personalities. Before his extramarital affair, Tiger Woods was THE draw in any golf tournament. I don’t know if he will sustain that now or not—and honestly, I don’t much care.

But the situation seems one in which you have a first class athlete —dramatizing personality. Instead of wearing traditional competition clothing, slip on something sold at Frederick’s of Hollywood, be outrageous, and get a lot of press coverage; people will talk about you for months and months. The more people talk, the bigger the draw.

It is sad.

I like a feminine look like Sharapova wears, but functional for an athlete. Venus looks like a dance hall girl from an old west movie, for crying out loud.

Besides if you play tennis with a ruffled skirt like that couldn't it intefere with your racket occasionally?

My gosh, the Williams sistes are so good, they should let their tennis speak for them on the court.
They don't need all this frou frou stuff.

I don't watch tennis, but when I do catch a glimpse of it on the news, when they do something either spectacular, or spectacular stupid, on the courts, I like to see the beautiful whites.

Pris,

I know it would inerfere with my racket.

sorry couldn't resist

A Leopard skin bikini with a black-plumed bustle would be more her style, I should think.

Why not bars of black, orange, turquoise, and white painted on her face in geometric patterns too -- and an ivory tusk in her nose?

Might as well go all the way while she's at it, although It's too late to insert the wooden discs in her lips. That will be for the next generation.

But where are the white fish net stockings?

FT, your comment reminds me of a friend who, every time we heard Ubangi, she'd say "Ubanig? Ubetchi!" :-)
But, really, this has nothing to do with race and everything to do with bad taste and your comment and, as you say, why not "plumbed bustles"? Is that next?

WHICH JUST GOT ME THINKING: Seems like we got more polite players during the white-clothes only days, too, no? Although I know Nestase and McEnroe and Conners were badly behaved fairly often and did play mostly during the white-clothing-only days.

Make sure you know where those clothing donations wind up, I sure will next time!

In his defense, Mr. Williams doesn't look awkward in women's lingerie like most men would.

I'm glad you knew I was kidding, but as for the suggestion to play naked, I have to reply OUCH!

As for the white, I recall that with the all-white, you could tell that Jimmy Connors was not wearing undies, and I kinda thought that was hot.

I think they should wear hockey outfits...but I', a prude.

Ah heck, I couldn't resist either.

Well, like it or not "change happens," And I'm sure y'all know EXACTLY what I mean by that.

We conservative resist change by our very nature, and yet if we look at the "bathing attire" worn early in the last century and before, we certainly would not want to go back to anything like that, would we?

I'm sure the Victorians were even more upset than we are at Venus's honky tonk chorus girl tennis clothes when women's arms and legs were first exposed to public view.

Remember, at one point the Victorians even put little skirts on the legs of their PIANOS so as not to appear immodest in the eyes their guests.

Really? Yes, REALLY! Unbelievable, isn't it?

In my never humble opinion the culture seems to have adopted Aggressive Bad Taste as some perverse sort of Badge of Honor.

The you-know-what hit the fan back in mid-nineteen-sixties, and we've been covered in ess-aitch-eye-tea ever since. It keeps raining down on us like volcanic ash -- only stinkier.

The Venus Williams costume is just another tiny fragment in the UGLY MOSAIC we've made of our world.

But who cares what any of US think? It's a Brave New World and there will soon be a New World Order. It's as dreadful -- and unstoppable -- as a tidal wave.

" ... We blossom and flourish,
Like leaves on a tree,
Then withereth, then fadeth,
But naught changeth Thee... "

"God is our refuge and strength -- a very present help in trouble ..."

May we meet and enjoy better times in Eternity, because life here and now always has been -- and always will be -- a BATTLEGROUND.

Some of the latest photos at Huffington are really gross.

Evidently she's promoting a new clothing line, for true. Why she wants young girls to dress like ho's is less clear.

Ah, the market. They can sell anything.

Z said...

Ducky "Ah, the market. They can sell anything."..which is a really GOOD thing when this is mixed with taste and discrimination.

By the way, she really WOULD look better naked. Beautiful woman!

The Greeks went naked in THEIR Olympic Games. Why shouldn't WE?

After althletes ALL have beautiful bodies. It isn't like asking a Weight Watchers Convention to meet in the buff.

What could POSSIBLY be wrong in presenting ourselves as God made us -- particularly if we are beautiful?

Nothing at ALL if you really THINK.

I'm sure clothes were first produced to ward off the elements in cold climates -- NOT because people were "ashamed."

Anyway nudity would certainly be preferable to the prostitutish look to which Ms. Williams had treated the tennis world.

my other racket Pris, but hey if she wants to wear that while we play tennis, I'm okay with it

Z said...

Ft, you think she's beautiful?

As for nudity, we have enough attempts from secularists trying so hard to make the human body so unholy...what's the difference then between us and dogs and cats? except they have the good sense to wear FUR :-) HA!!

Susannah said...

Ridiculous. And ugly! What's she thinking?

Oh...same thing all the prima-donna athletes who've been told all their lives how wonderful they are..."Look at me! Pay attention to me! Talk about ME!!!!"

repulsive.

It is very easy to spot class, & even easier to spot the lack of same, as shown here.
