Artur Davis, Former Black Caucus Member, Switches to GOP....HERE is the article
You'll want to read the whole thing, so I encourage you to click above. Here is a part I found important because I don't think Congressman Davis is alone in his thinking:Barack Obama campaigned on changing politics in America. He certainly succeeded, but not in the way he or his supporters envisioned. Over the past decade, the progressive left has pulled off a hostile takeover of the Democrat party. Today's party is not the one of just a generation ago.
Artur Davis didn't leave the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party left Artur Davis.
OH, heck, the rest of the article's so good, I'm posting it here (but there's even more if you click on the link):
But parties change. As I told a reporter last week, this is not Bill Clinton’s Democratic Party (and he knows that even if he can’t say it). If you have read this blog (Congressman Davis' blog), and taken the time to look for a theme in the thousands of words (or free opposition research) contained in it, you see the imperfect musings of a voter who describes growth as a deeper problem than exaggerated inequality; who wants to radically reform the way we educate our children; who despises identity politics and the practice of speaking for groups and not one national interest; who knows that our current course on entitlements will eventually break our solvency and cause us to break promises to our most vulnerable—that is, if we don’t start the hard work of fixing it.A Black Democrat Congressman has changed parties...for such good reasons, reasons all of us blog on EVERY SINGLE DAY......OH, and, thanks to Elmer's Brother, THIS information is available. Moveon.org is running out of money and may have to curtail campaign projects for Democrats? Say it ain't SO! :-).....ANY THOUGHTS?
On the specifics, I have regularly criticized an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again. I have taken issue with an administration that has lapsed into a bloc by bloc appeal to group grievances when the country is already too fractured: frankly, the symbolism of Barack Obama winning has not given us the substance of a united country. You have also seen me write that faith institutions should not be compelled to violate their teachings because faith is a freedom, too. You’ve read that in my view, the law can’t continue to favor one race over another in offering hard-earned slots in colleges: America has changed, and we are now diverse enough that we don’t need to accommodate a racial spoils system. And you know from these pages that I still think the way we have gone about mending the flaws in our healthcare system is the wrong way—it goes further than we need and costs more than we can bear.Taken together, these are hardly the enthusiasms of a Democrat circa 2012, and they wouldn’t be defensible in a Democratic primary. But they are the thoughts and values of ten years of learning, and seeing things I once thought were true fall into disarray. So, if I were to leave the sidelines, it would be as a member of the Republican Party that is fighting the drift in this country in a way that comes closest to my way of thinking: wearing a Democratic label no longer matches what I know about my country and its possibilities.
This made my day...maybe month, I'll have to admit.

"Over the past decade, the progressive left has pulled off a hostile takeover of the Democrat party. Today's party is not the one of just a generation ago."
Wasn't that Reagan's complaint? "I didn't leave the Democratic Party, they left me."
People are beginning to catch on that "Progressive" implies a direction and it's ever farther to the left. I think we'll see that Congressman Davis is the trail blazer for a number of others who just aren't buying the illusions any more.
I wonder if he's going to try to run for office again.
He tried running for governor and got absolutely pounded. The party really doesn't care bout him.
The party really doesn't care bout him
And it looks like the feeling is mutual. I hope the hard left completes their takeover of the democrat party. Full frontal progressivism! That's what they need!
Moveon.org is running out of money.
Soros is broke? Hallelujah!
GASP!
This story can't be true!
The man is black; how can he be a racist tea bagger?
Wingnuts really do live in wishful thinking land, don't they? Lol!
The extremists in the tea party have ruining the GOP.
Davis is also switching his voter registration to Virginia so he can run for office. Just another political maneuver by a DINO.
Z I thought he was familiar
Oh poor lib a Democrat who isn't bending over for the Messiah so he has to use excuses for it.
Face it Lib Obama was the biggest mistake this country ever made and it's killing you that America finally is waking up from their induced coma except a few of you who there will never be any hope for.
V...I think people are finally catching on, too.
Ducky, don't look now, but it's only the Dems so don't care about him and I do think its mutual ...for such good reasons.
SF....WE need it, because people are seeing it FINALLY.
Ed..yup! Cool, huh?
Sam.. I know! And we're racists, too, because we'd vote for Alan West in a heartbeat and liked Herman Cain and the Black TP leaders! GO FIGURE :-)
Lisa..it's hard for them. Kind of cute to see the wiggling!
Meanwhile, Yahoo Homepage has never covered this story on its headlines but THIS WEEK'S BEST DRESSED STARS is there and JESSICA SIMPSON SHOCKED THAT HER BODY'S STILL FAT AFTER HAVING HER BABY has been up for 2 days.
You've got to love the lib media.
And, please...nobody tell me Yahoo isn't leftie.
my favorite headline today is the epiphany that the SHOOTER WAS DISGRUNTLED.
(this is the man who shot four or five innocent people and then himself)....I wonder what evidence he might have had that he was disgruntled, don't you?
geeeez
SF said, " Full frontal progressivism!"
How can you top that? Political porn.
Liberals also suffer from full mental jackets, too.
The empty suit is losing its attraction. It's about time!
"Just another political maneuver by a DINO."
Something like the dipshit fraud Arlen Spincter did? Eh....loon?
"The party really doesn't care bout him."
Of course not...another slave discarded the chains of demrat racism. Tired of having that bull ring marked "only for Negroes and the CBC" racists and whiny frauds label?
"nobody tell me Yahoo isn't leftie."
They're tied to FB so long as Zuckerface wears his hoodie too. Stupid ass children with money. Which is why I like Eduardo Saverin's move.
"Liberals also suffer from full mental jackets, too."
I just wish they'd hit the head with an M4 or an M16 and take a seat on a toilet and do the right thing.
Z: "my favorite headline today is the epiphany that the SHOOTER WAS DISGRUNTLED"
Did you ever know anyone who was gruntled?
Z, well from an optimistic viewpoint, I continue to see Tea Party people knocking long time incumbent repubs out of the primaries. jailbirds polling even with obama in places like N Carolina(?)
I wish I saw more young people waking up. But I'll take the above for now.
The democrat party is the communist party.
V, right! And wouldn't you THINK that if somebody MURDERED people he's DISGRUNTLED about SOMETHING?!!
Kid...the Democrats have really gone far from the good Dems of yesteryear..
My main beef is the kids thing, too...we can only hang on so long and try to save this country for them; they're going to have to wake up and realize freebies take from your integrity. Will they?
I don't think so.. I TRULY don't. We've raised wimps who wear pants around their butts, tattooes, earrings on both ears ( a pet peeve of mine on men...I kinda like ONE small one...depending on the guy's look), think sex is like shaking hands...they don't know who the VP is, they want to PARTY.
ANY candidate talking about tightening our belts will lose....how's Romney going to campaign?
Z, Campaign? I call campaigns the seduction of the idiots.
Really, 'you' don't realize that the party is going to make the agenda? You think the individual matters? You're actually going to watch the debates on the edge of your seat?
Good Lord. Not meaning "You" Unless you Are going to watch the debates on the edge of your seat :) in which case, I'd say it's a waste of time. Pick socialism(dems) or maybe something else(anyone else including dead rat).
The people don't matter. The issues don't matter. The information put forth in a debate/campaign is the result of a Madison avenue marketing group decision designed to tell you what you need to say to get the: Gays, Nambla, Gun, Bible, Redneck, Abortion focused, Center right, Moderate Left, Enviro-nuts, Alien watching - people to cast a vote for you. It's worthless.
Vote for socialism(dems) or take a shot at something different.
Kids? That's what scares me. College grads are easily pretty rabid left. I know plenty of young people who I would call smart off the cuff, but have No Idea the damage being done by the dems. None; and if I try to fill them in, I can see their eyes start to glaze over.
Scary.
Z, jic there is any confusion. I'm not talking about "you" here.
I'm third person challenged.
Kid, I get 'you'...it's one of those problems with emails and comments, though, you can't explain.
When I learned French and German, I started saying, IN ENGLISH, "one believes this...or if one does that." instead of YOU believe this..etc.because in those languages, they haven't deterioriated their languages to 'you' for everything like we have. If you say "ONE does this.." here, they look at you as if you have a third eye, unfortunately!
Having said all that (why, I don't know!), I see the glaze in the kids' eyes, too. They just don't want to know because they really think America will never change. Heck, they don't even KNOW the really great AMerica we grew up in. There are a lot of people who, I guess, will be happy when Beverly Hills is a slum (like Detroit's becoming), when the Hamptons are empty because everybody's been taxed so high they can't afford the lovely homes anymore...etc. I love seeing people enjoy luxury like boats and great cars and homes... I'd rather dream and wish I had lovely homes than have that availability closed to me. And that's going to happen to our kids.
Wake up, liberals...don't kill America.
In his enthusiasm for Leftist tyranny, Obama's words and policies really are separating out the far Left from the Left and from liberalism.
I must concur with Silverfiddle:
I hope the hard left completes their takeover of the democrat party. Full frontal progressivism! That's what they need!
Thanks Z. Kids don't know. They come into the world and don't know what's been lost. It's "Normal" to them.
And That's How Your Hard Core Commie Works. A quarter inch a year, or sometimes someone like oBama comes along and takes it 6 feet a month.
Above totally serious.
Now for a touch of humor.
Kid, am I over reading into that video or is that a little provocative? :-)
I'm not a Strangelove fan (at all) but honestly his smoking made me want to get a cigarette after 9 years of no smoking!
As for Clemenceau's quote, it almost scared me because I heard the other day that Obama's ignoring the Generals' wishes from war zones. They're asking for things for their men and he's been taking to saying "NO"....as if he has a frigging CLUE?
Over-reading... it was just the commie part that I was referring to. Thought women Do sense my power... heheh
Kid! thanks for the clarification..it was FUNNY!!!
"I won't give women my ESSENCE!" :-) Hilarious...rather appropos to the first post today, huh? HA!!
PS obama. It's the arrogant, only exceeded by their incompetence who are the real dangerous ones. hitler comes to mind in that regard.
I haven't smoked for 7 years. Have never wanted one since the day I quit - while I'm awake, but I do smoke sometimes in my dreams.
Z, If I take this any further I'm going to need a cigarette. :)
Kid! THAT IS SO FUNNY!
God, I LOVE blogging on days like this :-)
I'm going to go downstairs now and have a glass of wine....
oh, for the days of cigarettes.
Do you still smoke, truly?
Z, No, I quit July 2005 and never wanted another one. If anyone is interested I used the patch for about 6 weeks. Made the process Simple.
Red or White wine Z?
I like a KJ Chardonnay or a nice Pinot Noir. Sometimes a Cabernet.
Mr. Z was all white...I'm all red, since I outgrew migraines about 10 years ago!
Merlot, Cabernet..
And, funny enough, I do like white dessert wines. Go figure!
I quite Dec 12, 2002, the day we landed back in LA after living in Paris for 4 years. But I never was a heavy smoker...just maybe 2 packs a week and sometimes less..
I'm happy to hear you've 'outgrown' the migraines. I'm so lucky, I just never get headaches (now that my first wife and I split over 15 years ago..)
I really do feel for those that have to deal with such pain.
It appears the migraines stopped about the same time you quit smoking.
On the wine, it depends on the food but those are the big 3 anyway. (I thought sure you'd mention a Zinfandel)
I honestly haven't met many red wines I don't like.......Zinfandel's nice, too.
re migraines...the headaches had stopped just before the smoking stopped but you make a point I hadn't considered.
No, they'd definitely stopped while we were living in Paris...we got back Dec 12, 2002 (but who's counting?)
I'd give about ANYTHING for it to be the year 2000 again. 9/11 really changed it for me being over there.
Good for this fellow, may there be more of them. He needs to be careful of his old party though, the racist leftards don't take kindly to blacks who stray from their assigned places.
