It's Spring in Germany...Time for a Beer Garden evening!

There are very few more relaxing evenings than sitting in a 'biergarten' in Munich....(delicious) beers, roasted chicken, cheese with paprika and onions in it served with fat pretzels which are salted and crispy on the outside and soft and wonderful on the inside......... anyone been? You'd love it!

I did it in Munich back in the mid-eighties when I was stationed in Belgium. I felt the beer gardens were a bit steep in price and overinflated thanks to tourism.

However, do NOT go to a beer garden FIRST, and THEN see Dachau on the same day. Trust me on this.

I thought there were supposed to be lots of well endowed, pig tailed blue eyed blonds at those things! We have a fake German town in Helen, Ga. that has big beer bash Octoberfest and they must import women like that, there are tons of them there.

Z,
That's always been something I've wanted to do. I can do some olympic beer drinking, although I think German beer would kick back at me pretty hard. Those pictures look like a lot of fun on a nice evening. Our weather is getting there slowly but surely.

As the song says, "I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."

Steve....You have to know which beer gardens to go to$$
I lived in Munich, on and off, for more than year...only drove BY Dachau. Simply couldn't do it.
I did, however, frequently pay homage to THE WHITE ROSE, the 2 college kids, bro and sis, who died fighting NAZIS...there's a marble stone in the Hope Garden in the middle of Munich. It's hard to stand there and not cry.
Can't imagine Dachau..no, thanks.

Hermit....They must import those girls from around America becuase you don't see that generalized type of woman too much in Germany..however, MANY TIMES I've walked down the main drags thinking "OH, boy, I wish I was in the model agency business, I'd sign HIM up or HER up in a heartbeat.." some really unbelievably gorgeous people there. (and some NOT so much!)

L&0...I LOVE that lyric! cracks me up. I wish you could come over and down some beer with Mr. Z..he's not a big beer drinker but he does it enjoy it...especially in Germany....

What no Oompah band? I'm sorry to say that the closest I ever can to this was at Epcot...

Z,
I would like that too. Although that's more than a trip to the corner bar.

We have Oktoberfests in my Southwest U.S. town and in the adjacent one: ours is little more than an excuse for semi-alkies to gather and slosh, but the neighbor-town's a really charming and heavily Germanic festival complete with guys wearing liederhosen and gals that look like Grimm's Fairy Tale characters.

Zack..you said this "little more than an excuse for semi-alkies to gather and slosh"

Trust me, Oktoberfest in Germany is not much more than that, either!!
And, it's mostly tourists doing the above!!
