"WE told Castro 'America is still racist'?"

By now, this is 'old news' (especially as fast as news seems to be happening lately....but don't miss the UPDATE I just added at the end), but there should be many things on our minds about the Cuba trip which are not forgotten, so I had to comment:

Seems that the delegation from America to Cuba had a great time! And, it seems they found people to go who liked Castro before they even went there....
It was almost like listening to an old friend,” said Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il.), adding that he found Castro’s home to be modest and Castro’s wife to be particularly hospitable. “In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said.

I'm not sure some of what Obama has planned for Cuba's a totally bad idea, but calling Castro "an ultimate survivor" seems naive after all the bad he's done to his people.

I found this sentence in the article linked above troubling, too: But the lawmakers disputed Castro's later statement that members of the congressional delegation said American society is still racist.

Do you believe an American delegation of politicians would tell Castro we are "still racist"? They 'dispute' the remark from their new "old friend", Castro? I thought this was a very telling part of the article .... So, they deny saying it but their new buddy Castro says they did behind closed doors.

Richardson said Castro knew her name and district. "He looked right into my eyes and he said, 'How can we help? How can we help President Obama?'"

Do you think they told Castro we're 'still racist' and can you imagine Castro asking us how HE can help our president? Do these politicians know their history of Cuba? Does it matter that Cuban exiles pulled for the Bay of Pigs because they didn't want their country to go Communist? I found that every site I researched on the Yahoo and Google search sites on Bay of Pigs blames us......"a permanent symbol of Cuban resistance to American aggression."

And now we're letting Americans send money to their Cuban families, helping Castro and Cuba with an influx of cash, and travel will be more open. Good idea?

Is FIDEL CASTRO A HERO? He's now asking "INSISTING!" for MORE...check it out. You see, we gave him an inch and the mile's his next goal..we've gone to a new point where CASTRO CAN INSIST. Does anyone else see what happens when we give in to someone with a track record like his? He'll be getting much more money in now, and some legitimacy, AND he "insists" on more. (big surprise?)

I don't particularly care what Bobby Rush said just as I don't care about the old timers who think Castro is going to disappear and they all get their stuff back.

Fact is that it serves no purpose to keep Cuba isolated. Why leave the investment to China?

Yeah, let's go back and replay the Bay of Pigs. Come on folks, move along.

Again, it's CHARACTER COUNTS, but not for you. Why? Of course, it's indicative of something broken when a Bobby Rush says what he said. When a man who's been this terrible to his people is fawned over.

As I SAID in the piece, I'm not against all Obama's doing in Cuba today.

Just interesting, if you read till the end, Ducky, that Castro's now making demands.

You're right..."Same old thing, the Left sucked up to a dictator and now he's feeling emboldened with America....come on folks, move along."

GREAT POST here z!!!... again i find it hard to believe that the black caucus, who has made enough noise claiming oppression by our government, would dis-own the cuban population! it shows how hollow the b.c's cries of persecution are!!!!!... p.s. i love al green now!!!

Well z, I look at it this way. He's been their longer than any other head of state in the world, if you don't count Queenie.

I see no reason not to engage Cuba. Drop the embargo and get on with it. Whatever aphorism Bobby Rush had for him, who cares. The only place it got any attention was on the far right blogs who are living in some fairy land thinking continuation of the embargo is beneficial.

So you want something good to happen in Cuba, I'm sure you think that calling Castro every name in the book and asking him to kiss our collective arse will accomplish something.

The right is ALWAYS about spleen and seldom about common sense. They expect us to play to their strong feelings of impotence.

Talking to Castro and doing the leftist 'mea culpa' is an insult to every Cubano who risked life and limb floating to Florida on leaky rafts through shark infested waters to escape Castro's murderous ambition.

Period.

Hardly seems possible that John Kennedy and Obama belong to the same party, doesn't it, Z? It is indeed an insult to the Cubans who have escaped from that idiot's rule, but trust me, this administration doesn't care. It cares for nothing other than pushing it's socialist policies down our throats, it cares nothing about true freedom of the people, and trust me, it cannot care about character because it doesn't know what character is!

Great post!

America’s diplomats have too often been short on skill and tact while playing the “great game.” In my view, our principal shortcoming has been our failure to temper our emotions; our inability to look beyond the short term; our ignorance of culture and language; our failure to look at national interest from the other fellow’s perspectives.

The same fallacies are evident among the august members of the black congressional caucus. The mere fact of winning an election does not generate respectable curriculum vitae, nor make one wise; it only opens the door for potential. Sadly, most of our elected officials avail themselves of the potential for harm, rather than good.

Every one of Castro’s attempts to assert Cuba’s influence over other peoples, from Africa to the Caribbean and South America, has met with failure. What properly governed country or capitalist enterprise would risk a relationship with Fidel Castro or his existing regime? What is to be gained by taking such a risk? No hay nada ser ganado!

PAT JENKINS! I knew you'd love AL if you listened. Not REALLY "old people music" IS IT!!!!

Ducky, CHARACTER COUNTS...darn if you don't see that.
I, too, want something good to happen in Cuba. But, I don't believe America needs to lower her standards to accomplish that. We don't reward people who treat their own as badly as Castro has. And, as you know, Castro and his brother will be the biggest recipients for the money Cuban Americans will be sending their families. Kind of like the Left thinks any monies we send to Africa benefits the PEOPLE!! HAA!!

"And, it seems they found people to go who liked Castro before they even went there..."

But i'm sure you couldn't get them to stay there, could you.

"Do you believe an American delegation of politicians would tell Castro we are "still racist"?"

Yes, but the hollyweirdos would probably beat them to it.
