Ain't tax-time around these parts, but i feel your pain, hope it's not too rough folks.
For once, I don't have a payment -- for the past year or for the first-quarter estimated. I overpaid unbelievably last year because the estimate didn't take into account all our medical bills, which amounted to nearly two thirds of our income!
Anyone else remember this old favorite?

Before moving to the Treasury Department, Morgan served as deputy counsel to President Nixon. There he helped prepare a backdated deed and other papers in an attempt to support a tax deduction of $576,000 for the gift to the Government of Nixon's pre-presidential papers. The deduction was later disallowed by IRS and declared invalid by Congress's Joint Committee on Internal Revenue Taxation. The IRS levied a 5% negligence penalty against Nixon but passed an investigation of fraud on to the special prosecutor.
Ducky, do you realize you had to go back almost 40 years to come up with a story about a Republican tax cheat? Wanna compare parties on this?
Chuck, I'm SO glad I didn't have any coffee when I read that!
Isn't it the truth!?
Sad. What more can I say!
Ah tax time...what a wonderful time of year...NOT!
Thanks for that fond memory, Duck. Seriously. Goes to show our system was working back then, but what about now, when it seems more liberals in office than ever before imagined, are now being caught cheating on their own taxes, and are getting away with not being punished for it (or fined) like Nixon was?
Yea Ducky, but Conservatives want to do away with Income tax remember, it's your nutty camp that claims it's Patriotic.
I went to the tea party here in the small town where I work. Turn out was amazing, and there are people at virtually every intersection. I took pictures to send as attachments to emails I plan to send to my Senators and Representative.
GREAT to hear that, Hermit. I hope you put those pix on your site for us, too.
Misfit; picture it...the Left as patriotic. Erring on the enemy's side, destroying the constitution, demeaning 50% of America because it doesn't agree with them, planning on photographing American citizens for 'who knows what purposes'?
awful
what i don't understand is if the dems think people aren't paying a high enough portion of their salaries in taxes, why not pay more. there is no penalty for paying extra on your taxes. you can fill it out right on your w4 and again on your final taxes. go for it, ducky.
oh, and btw, it's not that we think all taxes should be eliminated, it's that we think taxes should:
a.) be for an equitable amount based either on earnings or consumption and
b.) be levied only for those things listed as legal government expenditures in the constitution.
we, on the right, pay our taxes.
Mr. Pris and I went to a tea party today. It was great. Everyone was gung ho, and ready to do more.
Tammy Bruce gave a rousing talk, and got the crowd going. We loved it.
Of course I know, Ducky, that you approve because the left loves dissent, right?
It's our turn now, a little late, perhaps, but when the middle class takes to the streets, or rally's it warrants attention.
After all, we pay the bills, the government is overdrawn, and writing checks that bounce.
The silent majority is silent no more.
Pris
In response to Jan Schakowsky's comments about the "despicable" Americans who dared to assemble and speak their justifiable outrage... one of the "tolerant" examples of our unleashed left gives us the following in the comments section:
"I am also disgusted by the Right Wing Radical movement. We should round them all up and put them onto trains and ship them to concentration camps. Who cares if we should "lose" a few million of them along the way."
Comment by Mike Jones — April 16, 2009 @ 1:51 pmIt really is an extremist idea to allow the existence of a 1st Amendment, isn't it? It's the next item up for dinner at the Obama Trash Sale...
