New York Times "omission"...or..........??

Why does the NYTimes omit the part about Mr. Obama's iPod gift to Queen Elizabeth having HIS SPEECHES on it? They left that part out. Is it true? Some blogs say 'yes'. But, the NYTimes doesn't mention the speeches. ?? I'm having a hard time believing he'd do that, and an even harder time picturing the Queen listening to them. I think she'd probably rather listen to HipHop, tell you the truth. I sure would.

I've heard it was filled with show tunes, Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies, and concert videos of the rock group Queen. I might have mixed something up there though.

Z, you know how highly I feel about our new Ghetto commie in chief. I doubt he'd load it with his speeches.

I've seen some news sources that say he put his speeches on it. Why would we doubt he has the arrogance to do this? As far as the NYT, it's been a long time since anyone has accused them of reporting the news.

A reliable resource tells me that British protocol is an art form. Britain’s monarch represents an ancient cultural institution. Queen Elizabeth is the world’s wealthiest woman, so I doubt that she “requested” an iPod; it isn’t something an 83-year-old woman would normally want. I also doubt Obama would be so crass as to load it up with video of his previous campaign speeches. Now as it happens, Her Majesty could easily afford to reciprocate with a most enviable gift exchange with the American president. What she presented to the Obamas was a signed photograph; it is the level of gift she ordinarily presents to petty heads of state for which she has little or no respect.

I suppose this is really no big deal, unless we regard respect and esteem an important aspect of American diplomacy. DVD collections and iPods do not seem very refined, but a signed photograph does appear to be an understandable reciprocal.

The contents of the iPod are available at various "news" outlets like Fox.

However, no stories have been written about the far right wing's neurotic fascination with Obama's gifts. It is apparently pathological.

I don't doubt for one second that BO's narcissistic personality didn't include some of his speeches. In his mind, they are partof the historical record equivalent to Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

I also don't doubt for one second that the NY Times would leave out a singularly boorish detail about the Obamas. It happens all the time. They haven't been the paper of record for a very long time now.

I think he should have given her a set of ShamWows.

Duck, funny how the leftists all of a sudden think that the media harping on seemingly irrelevant missteps by the President is a waste of time. No doubt you were fighting against the same thing under Bush for the last 8 years. As far as ShamWows, wrong President. Clinton was the one more closely identified with having trouble with prostitutes.

Obama's speeches ARE HipHop, Z.

Here are the iPod 'ingredients', apparently, according to ABC's Jake Tapper (hardly a Rightwing ANYTHING, by the way)

* Photos from the Queen's 2007 White House State Visit
* Photos from the Queen's 2007 Jamestown, Va., Visit
* Photos from the Queen's 2007 Richmond, Va., Visit
* Video from the Queen's 1957 Jamestown Visit
* Video from the Queen's 2007 Jamestown Visit
* Video from the Queen's 2007 Richmond Visit
* Photos from President Obama's Inauguration
* Audio of then-state senator Obama's speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and
* Audio of President Obama 2009 Inauguration Address

Ya...DaBlade..Richard Simmons..THAT is funny. Imagine?

Morgan...read it and weep.

Chuck...I had to look hard for the list and some say the left's angry at Tapper for having exposed it. They don't like TRUTh, dontchaknow.

Mustang, the Queen gives that to every dignitary at their first time meeting, from what the news reports are saying......protocol doesn't seem important to the new WH for some reason. I'd love to do an investigation into if they kept the team that's been there for years steering the first family in the right direction.
Whatever some might think, there is a civility Americans have always been proud about; we have not made quite so many diplomatic blunders as we have lately.
If one has no sense for this, that's fine... neither did the Russian Bolsheviks, but we've enjoyed a nice level of good taste and dignity for a long time now here in America, and I'm hoping somebody helps the new WH in that regard.

It does look like the Obamas won some over with their charm, which is a good thing. Thankfully, he didn't get a lot of what he thought he'd get there but, as usual, the media, which has been known to say, countless times, basically."Bush trip results in nothing", the leftwing media's not dwelling on that or going out of their way to say anything of Europes' criticism of obama...of which there is plenty.

Cube...exactly.

Ducky, You're watching too many light night infommercials! Take a break!

Hmmm, some sites are reporting that the queen is a fan of Richard Rogers and particularly "Oklahoma".

Seems as if the book and the iPod were well thought out.

Keep spinning folks.

Of topic but I thought you'd like to know. It just gets worse:

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Supreme Court announced its ruling in a landmark same-sex marriage case Friday morning.

The court's written ruling was to be issued on the Iowa Supreme Court's Web site , but traffic to the site crashed the server and took down the Web site.

The court ruled in favor of six same-sex couples who sought to get marriage licenses, but were denied. The ruling means same-sex couples in Iowa can now get married under state law.

Z,
Wow I have something in common with the Queen. I too am a fan of Rogers and Oklahoma. Maybe I, as a typical American citizen, should sent my her a compilation of the audio of some of my greatest lectures in my AP US history classes. At least they're based on fact.

As for giving her an ipod, I can't afford that. Besides, I only have a shuffle.

Ducky, I wonder why you'd twist my words as if I didn't think the Richard Rodgers gift was spectacular? I even posted a video of Peters singing MY ROMANCE...
As I said, I loved the idea, THAT is an appropriate gift and I give credit where credit is due. But, nice smearing try.
The iPod? Silly....she has CD's....picture the Queen watching an Obama speech or listening to OKLAHOMA on an iPod?

I wondered, Ducky, how long it would take you to post on Iowa's same-sex marriage fiasco. I wonder how soon two sisters will be able to marry?
Are they going to discriminate and LIMIT IT TO UNRELATED PEOPLE, Ducky? Sad....REALLY sad, isn't it? Discriminatory.

Law and Order..Me, too..super music.

DUCKY MOVES TO IOWA

Well elmer, I'll say this. The iPod had a selection of Richard Rogers' songs, material relating to the queens recent visit to America and also Obama's Democratic convention speech and inauguration speech.

It's hardly full of his speeches but the right wing will be reporting it that way as we watch how truly trivial the right wing thought is.

What happened here was the story didn't have legs so Drudge decided to put some spin on it. Standard. Then we get people complaining that the New York Times didn't get down to Michelle Malkin level and report this "story".

Pretty sad.

Z said...

Ducky, why do you do this?
nobody said the iPod's loaded with every speech Obama ever said. Why cover the fact that anybody's HUBRIS would allow ONE SPEECH to be on an iPod with such an exaggeration as if "See, there's only one speech,he wasn't THAT hubristic!"

It's a very questionable, hard to comprehend thing to do, it's absolutely silly...He isn't Lincoln...that isn't the Gettysburg Address, Ducky, and YOU KNOW IT. So does the NYTimes or they WOULD have reported it. But, let Michelle Malkin tell the truth to America and SHE IS TO BLAME??

The left's skittering because it's right up there with speaking in Berlin, or speaking with Greek columns behind him...or approaching the inauguration podium waving and smiling to the crowd as no president has EVER DONE. Most are serious and deeply in thought as they approach the podium which will change their lives in such a huge way..the weight of that job has to be playing on their souls and there this new president was smiling and waving.

Ducky, you say whatever you want, but you're starting to sound a little weak. Your obama bubble's bursting and this, TRUST ME, is not the fault of the Right.

BHO is a megalomaniac and insufferably arrogant.

I wonder if he's trying to make some kind of "statement" by not following the white folks' protocol. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Z said...

Always, you know, I hate to read that, but I've considered that, too.
I wish he hadn't said so many things that do point to your suggestion, in his books and otherwise......I hate considering that we finally have a Black president yet he doesn't represent all of us in our great love for this country...how can one diss bigwigs like he has, or do hubristic things like including his speeches in a gift to a foreign dignitary or ....taking us into SOCIALISM! in AMERICA?
Perhaps the protocol people aren't advising him correctly..but why HIM? ALl other presidents have never missed a beat in dignified behavior, etc.

I so hope we're wrong. I keep hoping he'll wake up and remember how terribly lucky he is to live in this country, even if Mrs. Obama has disdained it so badly, etc...At least she has impressed some of our allies and that's a good thing. I'm glad for that.

We can't have a president acting out on past grievances...we can have one who tries to unite us more and more...but so far, no good. Well, he himself believes in HOPE!!

We cannot overlook the fact that Obama bowed low from the waist to the Saudi King. Evidently he felt compelled to follow Islamic protocol. It seems in this case he regards an American President to be inferior.

American protocol demands that an American President never shows inferior status to any world leader.

But then he has yet to show respect for anything American, so why should we expect him to start now?

When it comes to pathological, why were we treated to a head to toe description of Michele Obama's attire, comparing her to Jackie O?

For that matter why was Jackie O given that same treatment?

Lastly, why was Bill Clinton deemed "cool" because his jeans didn't have creases in them. And we're pathological?

But of course you folks have always demonstrated your shallow thinking and admiration for style over substance so why stop now?

Pris, Mr. Obama bowed so low to the Saudi King or whatever he is that it literally looked like he picked something off of the floor. As Kevin at AmboyTimes blog (on my blogroll) showed, the video was edited QUICKLY..they jumped off that like a hot potato)
it just BUGS me that that happened..no president's ever done that, or felt the inclination to!...and, after him confusing our 50 states for 57 (the amount of Islamic states until England's finally taken over completely!), it's worrisome and just plain scary.

My take on this question (Would he stoop to cramming his own speeches on the ipod) is that anyone who could advocate for--legislatively--the "legal option" to leave a newborn baby to die because the mom had originally intended an abortion... is capable of anything. So much has come down in these first hideous months of Obama that I think some of the earlier abhorrent propensities of this creature have been forgotten.
