This isn't the most snow?

Is it just me, or do you agree?   HERE is a link to a very short video on snow falls in America and how a storm of 1921 delivered more snow than we've had this winter.   When the "Global Climate Change" crowd hears TV weather readers say "this is a lot of snow, but nothing like it was in New York City in 1932.." or "This still doesn't break the record set in 1914 in Duluth," (I'm making up the cities and dates but we've all heard these quotes several times this year and in other snowy years on television weather reports)....how many of those who believe we're doomed for complete and threatening climate change forever because of bad weather stop and think to themselves "Wait, last week I delivered the weather here at CNN and we were all sure that this is the worst and we've got to go Green TOMORROW or we're going to lose our planet....but the records show that it's been worse before...hey, maybe I'm WRONG and it IS CYCLICAL like those other scientists we're not supposed to talk about think it is?"
ANY?

seems so much more intellectually honest, doesn't it?

If you want to be a little more accurate and thorough (doubtful) you would do something like a running average or at least take a measure by decade.

The last fifteen years in Boston have been well above average and the storms are larger, as predicted.

You just have to have a cold air trough from Canada shoot down and hit some air that has picked up moisture from the warming Gulf and you've got an easy foot and a half.

The storms are larger, as predicted and they have been arriving earlier in the season and have been more frequent.

Q.E.D.

Your turn

I have a sheaf of snapshots of the 1921 storm in the Merrimack valley that were in an attic trunk.

Oh my, wasn't that a storm. Not up to '78 though.

Ducky, any cold air that blew down from Canada would likely be air that blew across Siberia before it blew across Canada to invigorate your lungs. I'm sure that'll make you sleep better now.

Like I said, it's happened before...
You should be ashamed not listen to the huge amount of scientists who disagree with your summation.
I'm not here to argue global climate change (used to be called 'warming' but that didn't work anymore, did it)...my post is about people not understanding what they're saying...
They can't have it both ways.

Waylon, have you ever studied the meteorological concept of a trough. We had one all January.

z, three of the top five snowfalls in Boston have occurred in the last ten years. Warmer water in the Gulf means larger storms and that is happening.

The fact that there were larger storms in particular winters is anecdotal and means nothing. It's ashamed you aren't willing to consider the more complete issue.

Hmmmm...maybe Paul dooouchbug Krugman?

"The question then becomes, what’s behind all this extreme weather?"

and

"As always, you can’t attribute any one weather event to greenhouse gases. But the pattern we’re seeing, with extreme highs and extreme weather in general becoming much more common, is just what you’d expect from climate change."

What would you expect when 1934 was the hottest year on record.

What the media won't tell you is that the world actually ended in 1827 and we'll all really just batteries connected to a giant virtual reality simulator by evil robots. Follow the money.

Who's ashamed, DUCKY?

WHat's a shame is how people of your ilk won't listen to anything else. good try

The duck may be right. Weather reports have consistently stated that more snow has fallen in the New York Metropolitan area this winter than ever before, at least since they started keeping official records.

There's no question we are experiencing Climate Change. What's questionable is the assertion that Man is responsible for this change, and that it's possible for mankind to control the weather and reverse the trend by living a poorer, less comfortable, less rewarding lifestyle and submitting to oppressive limits on our personal use of energy and accepting a Global Tax which would hand unprecedented power over to the UN.

The whole "Green" movement is nothing but a power grab by the forces that want to kill American sovereignty and hand us, and all other sovereign industrialized nations over to a One World Socialist Dictatorship run by a cabal of international elitists.

Follow the money, and you'll soon learn about the ungodly coalition of evil forces who've been behind this agenda for over a hundred years.

Whenever a "movement" points towards an increase in centralized power we should realize it's pure evil and must be resisted, even if we think we ought to like some of the people involved in pushing it.

for the past three winters, in my mountains, we have had the weather the northeast is getting this winter. this winter, it's really be rather mild - thus far. however, since we had our last snow on the first sunday of june last year (11 inches) it could still wallop us.

13-16 years ago, they had the same type of winters as we've had the past three years. only colder.

we are trending colder right now, but so what? before we were trending warmer.

you can't have it all ways:

too many droughts? climate change.
too hot? climate change.
too cold? climate change.
too wet? climate change.
no snow? climate change.
too many floods? climate change.
too much snow? climate change.

if all of those things should blamed on climate change, well then, why not also:

riots in Egypt? climate change.
earthquakes? climate change.
michael jackson's death? climate change.
dog ate your child's homework? climate change.
erectile dysfunction? climate change.
unemployment? climate change.

none of it can be proved so all is game, right?

You have to cut the emissions from your car back in Missouri because California keeps starting forest fires. :P

Rodney Dangerfield isn't the only one who never gets any respect. Z posted about intellectual honesty, and what did she get? More blather from Ducky.

Anonymous, well said....sad that we can't discuss things openly and freely; Ducky has to insult and use name-calling and the conversation stops even if we actually did tend to agree with him on anything.

Heidianne....good one.

Mustang, exactly...thanks.

Beamish...we do NOT :-)

One thing I have noticed. The jet stream only has enough oomph to give attention to one of the coasts. If the east coast has precipitation, expect the west to be dry. And vice versa. They got dumped on the past week, and we are hurting for snow in our mountains. Why can't God just give everybody a nice even coating and be fair to all of us.

Oh yah I forgot Z. California trees are environmentally friendly... when they burn they only give off candy emissions. :P

My father was born in 1911 and often spoke of the winter of 1921. There were a lot of fires that winter too -- people struggling to stay warm.

Here is the real reason for Climate Change and it is the fault of humans, at least according to this:

"Breaking wind is set to be made a crime ....," reports the UK Daily Mail "The EPA plans to punish persistent offenders 'who foul the air' in a bid to 'mould responsible and disciplined citizens.'" Of course, locals worry that the blame game will sniff out the wrong "criminal." One citizen lamented, "My goodness. What happens in a public place where a group is gathered? Do they lock up half a minibus?"

Environmentalists have alleged that cow flatulence contributes to global warming, but implicating humans is sure to cause an even bigger stink. The problem is, when passing gas is outlawed, only outlaws will pass gas.

Very funny, Ticker -- but a little too close to the truth for comfort.

In England now, according to a recent report in the Daily Mail, raising your voice to spouse, child or fellow occupant in the confines of your own home is now considered "domestic violence" -- the equivalent of physical and sexual abuse in the eyes of the law -- and will be punished accordingly.

And you thought banning smoling in te confines of one's home was ourrageous.

GEEEEEEEEEZ!

That last sentence should have read:

And you though banning smoking in the confines of one's own home was outrageous.

Sorry!
