Father of the YEAR?

Bruce Jenner, stepfather to the Kardashian girls and husband of Kris Jenner has been named Father of the Year by Esquire magazine.   HERE is the article.  Maybe he had little to do with the raising of Bob Karashian's three girls who are now so famous for their questionable and ubiquitous behavior, but it appears he's approved of what they've done.  He has two more daughters by Kris Jenner: let's hope they turn out a little better.  Apparently, he has three sons and a daughter by two other wives who his wife says "wasn't the best father."  So, today someone calls him "Father of the Year?"

It's not Father's Day yet, but what person IN PUBLIC LIFE (Not your own wonderful dad!..we know HE's the best) would YOU have named FATHER OF THE YEAR over Bruce Jenner?

Um... I would name any man but that guy who has thirty kids by 11 different women and wants 'public assistance' to pay his child support?

Why is it that men can cat around like this and get accolades? I just don't get it! Even worse, he's living off the pseudo-fame!

Being a father is the most important thing a man can be. Any male animal can spread it's seed.

This is a travesty of reason, a mockery of fatherhood. No surprise it springs from a liberal fount of vapidity...

I can't think of anyone off-hand, but it sure as hell wouldn't be a serial divorcer with daughters running wild!

The media and people like the Kardashians live in their own little world. In their world, this dude's parenting is celebrated.

This is exactly why I have no interest in the lives of celebrities.

I don't have a specific person in mind. Any father who works full time and still makes his kid's football games, band concerts, or awards ceremonies gets my vote. While this isn't exactly a heroic effort, it is sadly missing in today's culture. I know, I have seen it in our own school many times.

Esquire magazine's 'father of the year' award has as much meaning to me as the Daily Kos' naming the 'capitalist of the year': neither knows the first thing about either.

Is this a joke?

Yeah Ducky fatherhood is a joke. Who needs a daddy when we have a Nanny Government.

Brooke that is remarkable. America has so much to be proud of.
Love Chuck's answer.

Wait who's blog is this anyway? lol!!!

I agree, Chuck. THAT is a father.

I guess if I tried, I could think of some public father deserving of accolades, but..
OH, I suppose Romney is; five sons who are clean cut and don't seem to be in much trouble like most celeb kids are.
probably this is largely due to Ann Romney (and their faith) because she was the one more often home.

There have to be more!

Fredd....that's funny!

Lisa, I've answered commenters at other blogs, too...i laughed when I read your remark. I always feel funny about it but, if they warrant comment, I can't help myself, either :-)

Very perceptive, Lisa.

The joke is that the blogosphere is interested in giving publicity to this latest stunt by the Kardashians publicists.

It's too easy.

After much thought, and a bit of caffeine, I have assembled a list of public figures who, for various reasons, could be legitimately named, Father of The Year, 2012.

1. Bill Cosby - Perhaps a little old, but I always did like the guy and enjoyed his family oriented programs.
2. George H W Bush - Old George is kind of long in the tooth, but he did raise a bunch of kids, and did it well. One became the Governor of Texas, and the President of the United States. Another became the Governor of the State of Florida. Maybe, father of the century would be a better characterization.
3. Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. - He, too, had a son who became President of The United States. However, it was not his fault. It was the fault of his temporary white wife who did not get kicked out of Harvard. Then, again, maybe Harvard has some sort of minority legacy rule that got Barry Jr. into the prestigious institution. The rest is history.
4. God (The Father) - Why has no one thought about this?

Yeah, I know. None of my choices create much controversy. Let me make one more suggestion.

Father of the Year - Everyman who has children, pays the mortgage, and feeds his family during these difficult economic times. This father has faith in God, and leads his family in that vein. This could be you, me, or any one of millions of fathers who love their families, and will do anything to take care of them, and defend them.

So, Esquire Magazine, are magazine sales so bad that you stoop to jokes for cover pieces? Maybe Esquire is just a subsidiary of the Onion.

I'm with Bob on his #2 pick. H.W. appears to have been a great father. He, like Reagan was a wonderful letter writer.

I'm with Bob on his #1 pick. I never would have survived "fatherhood" w/o Cosby's wonderful book on the subject.

Brad Pitt. I mean he did buy several thousand dollars worth of toys for his brood very recently - or so I read. Just kidding - Z.
But he could be a good father - or so I think.

Still reading your blog - Z.

OK Ducky admit I missed that. See how liberals always put those on the right on the defense?

Lisa, you didn't miss a thing. This is utterly important...fatherhood is important, rightly criticizing anything to do with the Kardashians is important (though I knew and adored their real father and their aunt's a favorite person in my life...such a really decent, Godly woman)

Sorry, Ducky...you just don't read enough of the posts to get the meaning, I guess?

I personally think fatherhood is greatly important and was excited to hear who people thought ARE good fathers in public life.
Sadly, there aren't too many names given.

Bob, I was thinking of The Bush Father, too....definitely wonderfully achieving kids, that's for sure.

GOD...yes, how'd anybody miss that? :-)

Brad, I'm sure unmarried fathers can be good fathers, but I'd not reward them with the title.

I know this may sound ridiculous but I mean it. Father of the year and of all time, Jehovah God.

He would have been one of the last people I would choose for Father of the Year. I can't stand that family.

I'm with you there Ducky. Maybe if we all just ignore them they might go away.

Leticia...right!

Right Truth, and it's so important to call these things out, to open our eyes to the kind of smut that America celebrates today.
Esquire....what a joke.

And I'm still hoping to hear more names of public fathers who DO deserve this title. Maybe it was a pipe dream and we're in worse shape than I think?
Bob had a few, but...no fathers who are fathering today?
yikes!

Off topic but it should interest you, z.

Very attractive, restive space.

Z said...

Ducky, thank you. I'd heard something about this but hadn't seen anything. It does look very peaceful.

Doesn't work. I've been ignoring them for years, they're still there.

Would I come across as snobbish if I were to question whether Ducky's use of "restive" is correct?

bftm

Bob said...

"Bob had a few..."

Yep. I am good at that.

Z said...

Big Fat...(which is a crap up because you're so THIN!)..

You're right....RESTIVE is like FIDGETY. I forgot! And I Googled just now. RestFULL is what Ducky meant to say, I guess.
Doesn't look fidgety to me!

Bob, you made me laugh out loud :-)
Cheers! xx

Never heard of this fellow, Esquire can name who they want to. Doesn't matter to me as I don't even read that mag.

Z - Brangelina are planning to get married - so that should count for something.

Have a great Holiday - Z.

sue, they are apparently getting married because at least one of their kids somehow had the decency to ask why they weren't and asked them to.
Amazing how genes somehow overcome ungodly, morally loose creeps.

Z - Well - at least they are going to tie the knot. That's better than nothing.

Have a good weekend. We have the Indy 500 coming up and it is going to be a HOT one. I hope there are no casualties in the stands - as well as on the track.

Take care-Z.

have fun, Sue!
I'd love to see that some day.

Z - I didn't mean I was going. Just that Indy is close and it is a huge affair for this state.

Too loud and too hot for me. But it is an exciting event.

Sue, I didn't think you were going, I just figured the city's in a tizzy over it and that could be fun.
I loved car racing when Mr. Z was alive...he watched it on TV, we saw the Daytona track and were invited to MExico when Germany reentered into the FOrmula 1 Sabra field....really great times.

Z - By all reports the race is going to be a record setter for heat - and that could be dangerous for both the fans and participants.
The paper said that the humidity and heat could cause the track to be slick.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend -
Z.
