TWO CHICK fil-A?

Two Lesbians have invited Mr. Cathy of Chick-Fil-A to have dinner at their home.  Here's a bit from THIS article:

"But the dinner invitation from Marci Alt and wife Marlysa, who live near Chick-fil-A’s Atlanta headquarters, is no paltry piece of paper, it is backed by an online petition sponsored by Change.org, an online organizing platforms for activists, and GLAAD, a gay rights advocacy group.
“I hope Mr. Cathy will join my family for dinner, where we can share a respectful dialogue about our faith, work and families here in Georgia,” Alt said in a statement. “It’s important that Mr. Cathy meet the people his company is donating millions to stand against."

"It goes on to say "GLAAD President Herndon Graddick said the protest stems not from Cathy’s comments, but from the millions of dollars his company has poured into “anti-gay hate groups.”"

ANTI GAY HATE GROUPS?  Because he supports traditional marriage and puts his money where his mouth is  He HATES gays?  REALLY?

SO, what would you do if you were Don Cathy?    Would you accept the invitation?   Must he?   If so, why?  Maybe he ought to invite them to his house for dinner and show them what a great example a father is in a child's life?

Oh yeah.
I had the hate label thrown at me (online) by people I know who know me better.
Then it's: "Oh, but the organizations Cathy supports"
To which I replied: "Do you still support that hate organization, The Democratic Party, that fostered the KKK and supported segregation and slavery?"
A lot of these people are actually bigots that see us in stereotypes from TV and theater, and they HATE that stereotype (probably rightly so).
But they are the haters.

We respect the right of other American's to believe how they please to, And to say what they want to..
G-d save us if Barack Obama wins a second term, if he does this nonsense will only spread to every American way of life that we enjoyed in the past. Yes "past"! These anti-American Alinsky tactics have to stop.

Once again, "Support traditional marriage" is code. Focus on the Family is part of the mechanism to foster the fringe right religious fixation on homosexuality and their determination to get gays back in the closet.

Interesting that there were gays and lesbians who went to Chick-fil-a yesterday (Conservative gays and lesbians), held hands politely, sat and ate their sandwiches, joined in the festivities with the other customers. They said no one said anything negative to them or about them. They were all there for freedom of speech, not because they hate gays

I am so sick of hearing this crap from gays bitching about their rights - all while trying to deny rights to those who hold different values and religious beliefs. Why don't they just shut the hell up, already??? Go about your business!

I never thought of forcing gays back into the closet, although I admit it is an interesting concept. Is it even possible? How would that work, Ducky? Is there even such a thing as a queer closet? Perhaps you reference a mere expression, suggesting that individuals who behave in such a disgusting depraved manner ought not reveal their decadence to the general public.

Speaking of code, Ducky’s use of the word “fringe right” means anyone who is not a flamer, like him. Actually, conservatives don’t care what people do in the privacy of their homes. And we think it is revealing that these people actually relish shoving their debauchery into our faces 24/7. They even encourage brainwashing schoolchildren, telling them that queer behavior is normal. There was a time when responsible adults would label this child abuse. There was a time when parents would stand up for their children. But I think we all understand why Ducky opposes traditional marriage. We all know why he doesn’t support the American family.

ED....such a good point. VA is littered with "Robert Byrd stadium....hospital...bridge" etc...a KKK recruiter. So honored.
They not only 'see us as bigots', it's the secular left which put us in that position via TV and theater....fun to mock, good for votes to say "we hate".
Mr Cathy employees open gays...they like working there. But he HATES GAYS :-)?
That's like the left saying that if you don't love Obama, you're a racist. Okay, yes...you WOULD have voted for Alan West for anything, but......
WHAT??

Dude...it sure does.

Watchman.....I think that's a good surmisal. The left gets very touchy when we on the right don't "roll over and play dead" in their silly insults and mischaracterizations. And, truly, what do they care, as long as many Americans hear the slams and don't ask "is that true?"
Except I think most Americans are still optimistic and good, and they're seeing the lies and wondering why anybody do that to someone with strong convictions?

Ducky...you don't read, do you.

Hi, Debbie...is that right? I hadn't heard that..makes me kind of want to weep for their goodness. They were just acting like GOOD AMERICANS standing up for freedom of speech.
I doubt if they'll be the same ones kissing their same-sex partners (and any same-sex person who probably comes by) in the KISS INS today at Chick-fil-As.

Thersites...good idea!!

FW...this is a lot about having Americans who aren't curious watch what's happening and thinking Christians are haters. It's about having college students who've been properly indoctrinated by now thinking they can't vote for anybody who'd DENY THE RIGHT of a gay person. (even if it doesn't)...
the truth doesn't matter to the left. Votes do.

Personally, I wouldn't use words like decadence, etc., but when it comes to the way we're raising too-small children with inappropriate information for ages in this regard, maybe I would.
I don't like confusion for children...it seems like they can't anymore even consider they deserve a married, committed mom and dad in their life.
That traditional, positive influence gave such a sense of security, I don't know what children do these days, frankly. Except act out. Then we wonder why?

So much of the left's agenda is based upon willful distortion of the vocabulary and sensational propaganda that appeals to raw emotion.

If I were Mr Cathy, I'd go. I've known plenty of gay people, and none of them fit the flamer or angry man-hater stereotypes.

Scotty said...

It's interesting to note that up until about two months or so ago, President Obama shared the same view as Mr. Cathy. At least publicly.

I also wonder why, the CAAP(Coalition of African American Pastors) isn't getting the same heat the Mr Cathy is? Or at least the same heat that Focus on the Family seems to garner.

It's interesting to watch as outrage always seems to be so selective.

Mustang said...

In Mr. Cathy’s shoes, I would not accept the invitation. What would be the point in doing so? I assume these women are dedicated to their point of view, and I conclude Mr. Cathy —if he is a man of principle— will stick to his. Neither will convince the other to change their minds.

The lesbian couple is demonstrating … what —that they are raising their children in a perfectly normal environment? How should we know this is true until after the children mature? But you’re right, Z. The accusation that Mr. Cathy donates his money to hate groups (sounds just like Napolitano), illustrates that this is clearly an agenda driven affront to what Mr. Cathy believes, and how he has lived his life.

I'm with Sam 100%. I find that "lifestyle" degenerate, disgusting, immoral and perverted.

It wasn't that long ago when all states viewed sodomy as a crime...and it still is. If you sat down for one moment and just thought about what they do to each other...if you draw a mental picture...you'd have to be disgusted and want to barf.

Nature doesn't accept it....otherwise all species of mammals would cease to exist if they chose "gaydom".

I wonder what's so "gay" about being sodomized...don't you?

Try to look at it this way:

Suppose you were a Jew who wanted to get into a "restricted" Country Club, and went to all the trouble to undergo rhinoplasty, become well read in English literature, take elocution lessons to learn how to stop dentalizing your "t's," stop pronouncing the "g" at the of "ing" syllables, and other speech patterns that are dead giveaways in the USA. Then you legally change your name from Schmedkowitz to Sinclair, convert to christianity, join the Episcopal church and get on the board of deacons.

Suppose you did ALL that just to try to make yourself acceptable to the WASP community and were then rewarded -- once you had achieved the acceptance you'd always craved -- by having to listen to anti-Jewish jokes in the locker room, on the golf course, at board meetings and at casual social gatherings everywhere you went among your new found "friends."

How would you feel?

I imagine that is EXACTLY how homosexuals who are able to "pass" feel as they are confronted every day in a thousand different ways -- not by "HATE" -- but by the deep, unyielding prejudice tightly woven into the warp and woof of "normal" society.

Anti-Semitism is now Politically Incorrect -- i.e. taboo -- "homophobia" is not. It's still Open Season on Gays. The Bible says their way of loving is an abomination, ergo it must be AOK to regard them as not quite acceptable at best.

Please don't REACT. Just THINK about it for a while. Think how that Jew with the nose job must feel. That really says it all.

Mr Cathy can do whatever he wishes. At my blog I suggested that he give a small order of chicken nuggets to anyone who walks up to a Chick_fil-A counter and says, "I'm gay."

Of course, there should be a prize in each box, like a free condom. You gotta promote that safe sex stuff, you know.

By the way, Ducky. "Support traditional marriage" is not code, unless you think of the English language as code. "Gun control" is code. "Women's reproductive rights" is code. The traditional marriage thing is not. It is every day plain language.

FT seems intelligent, his supposition lucid, but he appears an inability (or unwillingness) to take his own advice. No one here is rampaging against people who pursue an abnormal lifestyle. We may disagree with this behavior, either from our religious beliefs, or because we find the conduct horrifying … but no one is hauling homosexuals out of their homes and branding them. Heterosexuals have not made an issue of homosexuality; homosexuals themselves have done that.

FT’s analogy doesn’t work with this argument. Any Jew who is contemplating rhinoplasty, in order that he or she may feel more comfortable with Christians, should seek psychiatric counseling for ten or twelve years.

Homosexual behavior horrifies people, but this does not make them homophobic activists. Does FT advocate thought police in order to make deviants feel good about themselves? Imp is correct to describe queer behavior as deviant and unhealthy. Where do we draw the line vis-à-vis abhorrent behavior? If it is okay to sodomize another human being, should we also “progress” to the point of accepting the arguments of the North American Man-Boy Love Association? If the answer to this is yes, then America is in worse shape than anyone ever imagined.

It hasn't worked for Woody Allen has it? The most unstable and neurotic of his tribe.

Robert Sinclair said...

The term “homophobe” seeks to deride anyone who abhors the homosexual lifestyle. The definition uses such phrases as “possessing negative attitudes,” “irrational fear,” and “hatred.” This may describe a minuscule number of people; it isn’t how the average person feels. The average person doesn’t give a damn. At the same time, most people find homosexual acts disgusting. Orthodox Christians, Jews, and Muslims regard homosexual behavior as sinful, but while Christians and Jews tend to tolerate it, Muslims do not. Finally, as most people tolerate homosexual behavior based on the idea that adults must have the right to choose their own path to hell, I think average Americans agree with Sam and Imp (above).

Imp, Woody Allen is a waste of oxygen.

Great blog.

Ducky, traditional marriage goes back centuries! Now, suddenly, it's code? Really?

Our country is being torn to bits by the left, and by our so-called leaders. They want anything to be a distraction from the failures of President Obama.

I for one, am not falling for it, and neither are those of us, who can see through the smoke you and yours pump out on a daily basis.

Pris, you are SO right.

Did you happen to see Hannity tonight? It was such good information...although SO SAD.

PART ONE

Pris, of course, sized up the situation perfectly. Every bit of this nonsense is "Political Theater" designed to DISTRACT the country from President Obama's manifest failures -- and from the president's highly dubious -- frankly contemptible -- background, which Republican candidates have been too polite -- and frankly too stupidly fearful -- to make much of an issue.

I'm sorry, however that my remarks were misconstrued as some sort of attack on Jews or Jewishness, when in fact they were intensely sympathetic to the [probably now former] plight of the Jews.

I didn't realize there would be so much difficulty in understanding the language of parable and parallel.

It would, indeed, be very "nice," if it were true that no one is "insulting" or "demeaning" any of the various minorities anymore, but that's clearly not the case.

PART TWO

I don't doubt for a moment the accuracy of what Imp has said about his own situation (which I've known about for more than ten years, incidentally) and that of the Jewish people he knows, but I -- having lived for nearly seventy-two years now -- and having been brought up in and around New York City close to my mother's family of first-generation Italian immigrants -- know the exact situation I outlined has occurred many times with people of ethnic backgrounds once considered "undesirable" who took great pains to disguise their true identity in order to "pass" successfully into the larger community.

In the years immediately following World War Two rhinoplasty was practically de rigeur for upper-middle-class Jewish girls eager to shed the "stigma." I have personally known several -- people with whom I grew up and still know -- who have gone through this process for the reason cited.

I never realized at the time we were all kids together how painful it was for them to have to think of themselves as "different" and possibly "unacceptable." Maybe it was a hangover from the horrors of The Third Reich, which still casts a a long dark shadow even today. At any rate, it was a VERY real phenomenon.

My own mother -- who was ethnically a full-blooded Italian -- had lovely turquoise blue eyes, Titian red (auburn) hair and beautiful clear white skin, as did her mother and two of her three sisters.

My grandmother -- whether you approve of her attitude or not -- was eager for her children to assimilate fully and become as much a part of the then-dominant White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant culture as they possibly could. Grandma was -- literally -- a Roman, and must have remembered the ancient maxim "When in Rome, do as the Romans do," and adapted it to suit the reality of her situation as an immigrant to The Land of Opportunity, as it was then popularly known.

No one could ever accuse my grandmother of being stupid.

PART THREE

At any rate, I did not learn of my Italian ancestry till I was nine or ten years old, when my oldest aunt told me about it on day after I innocently asked her why Grandpa talked differently from the rest of us.

My mother and two of my younger aunts were furious. "Why did you have to go and tell him?" they asked. He might say something in school, and get hurt. We've worked so hard to overcome all that and get away from it -- just as Mama wanted us to."

I thought it was interesting, even exciting, and couldn't understand why they wouldn't want people to know.

Then, they started to tell me the stories of the insults they received from teachers in school, the beatings they got from Irish and Polish kids on the sidewalks of New York, and the dirty looks they sometimes got from tradesmen who assumed they must have Mafia connections, etc. They were called WOPS, DAGOS, "SPAGHETTI BENDERS," and accused of "always stinking of garlic." Of course they in turn would shout back at their tormentors and call them "DIRTY IRISH MICKS, " STUPID PO-LOCKS" and all the rest of it -- BUT they not only SURVIVED, they PROSPERED, God bless them!

Even so, it was hardly a kind, gentle, environment and the taunts, gibes and stupid insults they received stayed with them and haunted them for the rest of their lives.

And so, I got to see early on what a strain it was to feel you must play a ROLE, act a PART, live a FABRICATED STORY about your BACKGROUND in order to feel "SAFE" from potential PERSECUTION.

How unkind it is to require people to DENY their parentage and their culture -- their very IDENTITY -- treat it as though it were something EMBARRASSING and SHAMEFUL -- in order to be considered "ACCEPTABLE" to the majority!

And I'm sorry, but if you think homosexuals are no longer insulted, demeaned, and browbeaten, please reread some of the comments on this and other similar threads.

I think ALL of us are often blind to the effect our thoughts and feelings may have on others. It isn't purely "political" to suggest that putting yourself in someone else's shoes to understand how what-may-be-perfectly-normal-and-acceptable to YOU might affect THEM, if the tables were turned.

But AGAIN, please let me emphasize that I AGREE wholeheartedly that when these issues are raised by "ACTIVISTS" to score purely POLITICAL POINTS the tactic is DEPLORABLE.

Respectfully,

FreeThinke

They're aimed at their displeasure in the way the gay agenda (not all gays) are constantly PUSHING PUSHING PUSHING. As I said in a previous comment, my older gay friends never felt the need; they were happy, fulfilled people (though I believe some of them wished they had had traditional families, or so they told me in their older years)
Who ever cared in the past? and who didn't know one's cousin was gay ...but we just lived our lives and he, his?

If people don't give thought to putting their feet in others' shoes, they're simply not thinking and are void of compassion or curiosity.
