I never thought I'd miss Dee Dee Meyers

NEW AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION ...... Thanks, Heidianne

HERE IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/01/AR2008060101922_pf.html
UPDATED JUNE 1, 2008

Does anybody see anything familiar in most of Scott McClellan's comments from his new book? It sounds like the typical information in any article out of the Huffington post, doesn't it? Karl Rove even said the comments he's made in his book are so unlike McClellan, sound so different than the man he knows so well, that it could almost be a liberal operative from a liberal blog who wrote it. "Almost be?" I couldn't help wondering if Rove actually knows who wrote it and what liberal blog he does come from.
McClellan worked as Ari Fleischer's assistant for 2 1/2 years and worked for Bush since 1999. Bush just SUDDENLY became this man he felt he needed to betray, or is there something about McClellan which made it impossible to resist?
As if McClellan, who bumbled so much he never could give us information without sounding like he had stage fright and confusion could write a book? Ari Fleischer's book is anything but scintillating, but it fills you in on some of the behind-the-scenes machinations at the White House so it's worth a glance. Funny, Ari never slammed the president and I'm thinking he could have, if he thought he warranted it and if he needed something snappy and provocative with which to sell more books.

I hope this makes McClellan a rich man, who would hire an employee like this who works for a boss, a president of the United States, and then insults him and his party's platform just before an election? Could he have quit when he felt something was wrong, if he really feels this way? Wouldn't that be more honorable? Is a 'tell all' kick in the face the 'good Christian' action he feels he needed for the 'contrition' he seeks?

And, does anyone know what gives him the expertise or knowledge to say "The Iraq war was not necessary," he concludes. "Waging an unnecessary war is a grave mistake."
He also says "In the permanent campaign era, it was all about manipulating sources of public opinion to the president's advantage." Don't look now, Scottie, but that's what all presidents do, it's their prerogative, it's your job to garner good publicity for him. NO worries, Scott, you weren't good at that, either.
I've often wondered how much better Bush's administration would have been served had they had people like Dee Dee Meyers and Mike McCurry. I'm sorry to sound so nasty about this thing but, as sour as I am on Bush right now for several reasons, something about a press secretary writing a book like this while the president is still in office, or at all for that matter, is disturbing on so many levels.

perhaps he's been reading leviticus lately?

"Leviticus 5
1 " 'If a person sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about, he will be held responsible...

...4 " 'Or if a person thoughtlessly takes an oath to do anything, whether good or evil—in any matter one might carelessly swear about—even though he is unaware of it, in any case when he learns of it he will be guilty.

5 " 'When anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned 6 and, as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin."

perhaps he should study out some numbers, same chapter:

" 5 The LORD said to Moses, 6 "Say to the Israelites: 'When a man or woman wrongs another in any way [b] and so is unfaithful to the LORD, that person is guilty 7 and must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, add one fifth to it and give it all to the person he has wronged."

perhaps if he worried more about the restitution part if he really believes he's done wrong, he wouldn't be worried about the tell all part. is a "confession" really a confession if the teller stands to gain monetary compensation for it?

i'm just saying...

i've been feeling sorry for voting for bush for quite some time myself - scott reminds me of another kiss and tell confidante of another admin - "sick to death of" dick morris.

He cashed in. What more could you expect from this Republican "Lite" House.

I sure wish Dick Cheney were running for President this fall... or at least a paleocon like Buchanan (Pat OR Bay).

FJ...Buchanan is against this war. Are you?

I like Cheney VERY much....actually, his profanity to Leahy kind of cemented my admiration. He'd been taunted by Leahy for months, apparently, and when he finally told him what he told him, it was in private and showed that he doesn't take it from anybody. I like that. it's not the profanity I admire especially (tho, please...we all...well..sometimes!)but I cheered!

Or maybe it's just becasue I can't STAND Leahy!? HA!!

The word "poltroon" comes to mind. Or maybe, "inside the beltway."

FJ- I was against it... up until the moment it got declared and became official policy.

I then became convinced it was a brilliant piece of strategy... that was until I learned that it was merely a serendipitous piece of good fortune.

I never realized before how much G_d watches over little children and the USA.

mustang..."poltroon" is right.
Good to see you here.

FJ; my husband was against it, too...he's been there for long periods of time (years ago) and felt it was awakening a hornet's nest. I guess he's right, looking back. But, when we jumped in, he was behind it. And, he certainly doesn't feel we should leave.
I just heard an Obama supporter politico say that Obama's saying they'll be out in a year. Big change from his actual words of sixty days, eh? drip, drip, drip..the lies keep dripping so people hear. and vote.

I hope you're right about God protecting 'U.S.', as nanc likes to put it......I don't see it much anymore. I don't see much good at all anymore.

NO, I am not sure America's protected anymore. You don't continue to protect a home whose inhabitants hate and mock you. Not after years of trying to win them over and getting nowhere.

end of sermon!!

I think this country might have some mighty hard lessons to learn, esp. if we choose the darkness that I see as Obama, and no I do not mean the color of his skin. I think you might be right, Z about God and protecting us. He does protect as long as we do not turn our backs on Him. we will be if we choose Obama.

As for McClellan... the all might dollar, bottom line.

I miss Tony Snow. Class act and could give as good as he got.

Scottie was out of his league and not at all competent.

incognito...God will always be there for his people, but this country's asking for trouble, in my humble opinion, right?

karen...we have to pray for Tony Snow. I heard he was hospitalized again about a month ago. I so hope he kicks this awful cancer. He's such a good guy (even if he IS in the Council on Foreign Affairs!! heh heh!) Didn't you ALWAYS feel McClellan couldn't cut it? They take an inarticulate man like Bush and put a bumbling guy as Press Secretary?

I wonder how things might have been different had Ari not left. He was a terrific guy. I do recommend HIS book..it's not sizzling with any big divulgences, but it's interesting. And it shows he has a nice heart...personal things about his wife, etc.

I supported (and still support) the war in Iraq.

UN Security Council resolution 1441 demanded that Iraq give full and complete disclosure of ALL of its chemical stockpiles, including those "not intended for military use."

Who's got the file on how much salt is in Saddam Hussein's kitchen?

No one?

Bombs away.

Ah so there's a book coming soon eh, when i heard this story on the evening news first, i figured as much. Nothing sells quite like BDS, anyone else hoping to cash in had better do so quickly, Bush will be gone soon and if a Democrat wins office, few will care then. Not surprisingly the media didn't tell us about the book, funny that!

MK..the book is out now.

Beamish....GEORGE SOROS AGAIN?
"I pledge allegiance to the destruction of this country and its flag ..and to the republic for which this ugly red/white/blue mess stands.." That's Soros.

But, he's good enough to only lurk; the Left can always draw the conclusion that NOBODY knew his connection with Perseus...."..and, anyway, if it wasn't true, why would SUCH a big Bush man SAY this now?"

wait for it.

I doubt McClellan has even read "his own" book.

I mean, "he" thought it odd that the President's and Vice President's chiefs of staff met with other often.

What else does McClellan's ghost writer not know about what goes on in the White House?

Never trust a Greek when there's wood lying around.

Z said...

BERTY! I thought you were pretty into Greek? (pardon the expression...oops!)

Beamish....Rove said that exact thing. I had the creepy feeling Rove KNEW what lefty wrote it. Now that Soros is behind it..well... BUT, will our media expose that? Or does he own THEM, too? maybe I'll try to find the explanations for McC's rantings and publish them, too. thanks.
