Sunday Faith Blog: HAPPY EASTER!

Christ the Lord is Risen Today
! Enjoy the classic Easter hymn!

Another treat is at Defiant Infidel's blog, a video created by his wonderful blog partner, Miradena. What a gift that is, don't miss it!

The promise of Easter to us all................

"One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him; "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said,"since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23

"remember me" that was all the criminal had to say.

A very HAPPY EASTER to you all from Mr. and Mrs. Z....

oh, yes...I DID have chocolate!

Good Morning!

HAPPY EASTER!

CHRIST IS ARISEN!

HALLELUJAH!

HALLELUJAH!

HALLELUJAH!

It was so nice to hear this rendition of THE Easter Hymn -- the one hymn without which Easter would not seem like Easter --- at least to members of my generation.

May joy come into your heart and bless this very special Day of Days.

1. "Welcome, happy morning!"
Age to age shall say;
Hell today is vanquished,
Heaven is won today!"
Lo, the Dead is living,
God forevermore!
Him, their true Creator,
All His works adore.

REFRAIN:

"Welcome, happy morning!"
Age to age shall say;
Hell today is vanquished, heaven is won today!"

2. Maker and Redeemer,
Life and Health of all,
Thou from heaven beholding human nature's Fall,
Of the Father's Godhead,
True and only Son.
Manhood to deliver
Manhood didst put on.

REFRAIN:

"Welcome, happy morning!" Age to age shall say;
Hell today is vanquished,
Heaven is won today!"

3. Thou, of life the Author,
Death didst undergo,
Tread the path of darkness, Saving strength to show.
Come, then, True and Faithful,
Now fulfil Thy word;
'Tis Thine own third morning Rise, 0 buried Lord!

REFRAIN:

"Welcome, happy morning!" Age to age shall say;
Hell today is vanquished, Heaven is won today!"

4. Loose the souls long prisoned,
Bound with Satan's chain;
All that now is fallen
Raise to life again.
Show Thy face in brightness, Bid the nations see;
Bring again our daylight;
Day returns with Thee.

REFRAIN:

"Welcome, happy morning!" age to age shall say;
Hell today is vanquished, heaven is won today!"

DaBlade, same to you!

THANK YOU, Morgan!!

Always..."great minds!"? Same to you.

Sue, He truly is! I've never felt more joyous about Easter in my life because my faith's somehow grown more in the last few months than it had all my life. so great!

Beverly, I'm at your place in two minutes! Happy day to you, too! And to Ella and her parents!

BZ...had some chocolate bars last night and Mr. Z DID leave a choc. bunny on my desk for when I got up! I'm not going to let this change my happy mood, but I did notice the bunny has a tag underneat that says "Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Robbin poses a choking hazard."
HOW did WE SURVIVE without OBVIOUS SIGNS on everything??? Gee, and I guess given the choice of a chocolate rabbit and a ribbon, that 3 year old's going to stuff a ribbon RIGHT into their mouths! I recognize the need to take care, but...!?

LA and Angel, thanks..same to you!\

Gayle, enjoy the singing!

FT...I almost posted the song you left here! Thanks!

Zeeva, thank you! Same to YOU!

Mustang. trust me, the feeling's SO mutual! xxx Happy Easter, our dear friend.

Good morning, FJ!

I think so...more and more, I believe so.

I believe I said this elsewhere during the last few days, but we say "He is risen indeed!"

and I got to thinking what an amazing DEED that was, what he went through and survived and conquered...

I'm saying "He is risen IN DEED" indeed.!!

An Opportunity

Please take four minutes of your time and listen to this on YouTube, if you can:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WSc1o9zQZE&feature=related

I'm talking about "Et resurrexit" (He is Risen) from J.S. Bach's Mass in B-Minor.

The boundless energy, expanding joy. and unlimited sense of uplift is for me the perfect evocation of what The Resurrection really means. It's not about Bach. It's not about the era in which he lived. It's not about anything but an evocation of the TRIUMPH of The HOLY SPIRIT over all that is cruel, negative, destructive and foul.

And please listen carefully, because this outburst of unbridled joy is also as orderly, disciplined, refined and wonderfully made as a the inner-workings of a superbly crafted Swiss watch --- or of the Cosmos, itself.

And it's perfectly all right not to like it, but please don't say so. That would be a lot like saying "I don't like the Ten Commandments."

No one HAS to "like" anything, but I believe we have an obligation to show all sincere, genuine expressions of ingenuity, creativity, faith and good will a modicum of RESPECT at the very least.

HAPPY EASTER

Z,
Happy Easter. Good news about the captain. God's blessings indeed!!

Z said...

Sometimes I wonder if God does 'little' miracles just to see if we're paying attention!...like this on Easter Sunday, the Captain being SAVED and the evil ones vanquished! (ya, could be concidence, but..let's call it a miracle, why NOT?!)
Like the Hudson River miracle that ALL survived such a near tragedy...
I like to think so.

Something that one of the journalists asked and, from his face after hearing the answer was as confused as I was by the response , is did the captain make another break for it like Morgan says here? Because the 'expert' said that happened the other day (that he got into the sea and swam) and TODAY there's talk that happened AND, contrary to that, that there was an AK48 pointed at the Captain and that's why we acted.

Anybody got definitives? Maybe it's too early to really positively know what happened?

Just so's you know....I've got the chocolate ears off the rabbit and had two more choc. bars on the Easter breakfast table. Mr. Z's handling himself swimmingly! (Smile) (the rabbit's spinal column is now devoured.munch, munch. I swear, I won't sleep for a MONTH now!! CAFFEEEEINE!!

CJ said...

There was a lot of prayer for the captain. Answered prayer is miracle enough of course. I agree, I do believe God did give this good news on His day to build our faith.

Happy Resurrection Day to all.

Darn! CJ beat me to it. Oh well, here goes anyway:

The Captain has been Freed. HALLELUJAH!

.. As a Christian I accept the captain's liberation as an Easter Gift from God and a chance to establish or renew faith in God's abiding presence.

Whatever the Zoo's Media tried to make of it, be calm and remember the TRUTH must ALWAYS prevail.

That's what RESURRECTION is all about.
