Would that the NYTimes were this perceptive...

Wouldn't you THINK all Americans could see this, too? But, no.........

The London Daily Mail
3 January 2009

Obama’s victory?

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher
Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of
objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of
popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers’ unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation.
A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America!

Z: "Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her" I've been saying this for YEARS and nobody ever quite seemed to understand. Finally.... a newspaper which REALLY gets it. Now you can see...they do NOT "All hate us" in Europe, or not for the reasons most people think. TRUST ME. This article would be hated by the left, I just wish they'd read it and think about it. No matter HOW MUCH they hated Bush, this was not the man to lead America into a 21st century that's this dangerous; not the man to lead with the good character we need for a roll model for our children; not the man to manage a terrible deficit; not the man who looks at the truth (i.e. Global climate change truth is finally coming out) and weighs it even if it argues with his preconceived, agenda-driven notions... etc. I wish he were. SO very much. And I PRAY he proves me wrong.

Thanks, London Daily Mail. If only we had American papers like yours.

Wow! Why are we so stupid as a nation?! I would like to send Susan Sarandon and Barbra Streisand to Cuba and set them down in the middle of the country and let them enjoy Fidel's wonderful legacy.

That editorial needs to be on the front page of every newspapaer in America.

I'm stunned this came out of London!

Wow. Well, said. WELL SAID.

Thanks, good read.

I think that ultimately Obama will be good for America. Before you think I have taken leave of my senses, let me explain.

If you look through our history, political leanings are cyclical with liberalism becoming popular occasionally until people realize how destructive it is to our lives and our country. We then follow this with a longer period of conservatism.

Just in recent memory we had a very liberal government in the mid to late 70's followed by a right of center swing through, well, now. Even Bill Clinton, for all of his faults, realized he had to run a centrist policy to stay in favor with the voters.

I think most of Obama's voters are too young to realize what true liberalism rally is. They were therefore fooled by this pie in the sky fantasy of government taking care of us all. We all saw the quotes of the voters during the campaign.

Remember, a conservative is a liberal mugged by reality.

I think Obama will likely usher in a new period of conservatism in the country. It is also possible that we may not wait until after he is re-elected. We are seing a restlessness in the GOP. We are seeing conngressmen, commentators, party leaders who are tiring of the old boy network and pushing for essentially a purge of the party. This could bring about a Reagen style movement in the country.

Who will we really have to thank for it? Obama.

A Victory for people of the government, rather than government by the people.

Beverly...Sean Penn loved Saddam's shish kebab...."what's the big deal about Saddam?" And then raved about Cuba's healthcare when the celebs who LIVED there, Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan have proven he's a horrid liar, but our Left can't listen. I just don't get it.

Brooke..I was surprised, too.d

Chuck, if our school system were still the same and American children understood the constitution and how hard work created this country, I'd be on board with you. I fear those days are over. Obama will make an even MORE dependent nation than we've developed in to recently and our kids are spoiled rotten and expect handOUTS, not handUPs. I wish I could go along with you, I used to but don't anymore.

Ducky..sshhh Why do we have to keep reminding you that just because some news is factual and you don't agree or like it it doesn't mean it's wrong.

CJ..and Brooke; imagine what these poor Brits who think like this feel in LONDONISTAN!? having these great values and seeing what other Brits are allowing?

There are still conservative voices left in the world; not many, but some. Meanwhile, according to the Jerusalem Post, the AP is reporting the death of Hamas minister Said Siam as an "assassination." Liberal bias? Nahhh.

A nice article. Thanks for sharing Z! My worry is that the pendulum will never swing back to the right when you consider that half of the American voters do not pay any taxes and will always be motivated to "sticking it to the rich" by voting in these socialist boobs who promise entitlement after entitlement.

The 7th Army has been released from defending Europe -she may be deployed anywhere the US needs her...now socialist Europe will have to spend its own $$ to defend itself---Mark Steyn's book has opened some eyes...
BTW-Europe--good luck...from past history-the US has had to bail you out LOTS of times --we don't want to anymore...

That was certainly something that was unexpected. Whoda thunk it? Here we have the MSM falling all over themselves to breathlessly publish pictures of a shirtless BO while writers engage in man worship and suddenly a breath of fresh air crosses the Atlantic. Thanks for posting it.

Great article Z.
Yes the truth is coming out, but,of course "climate change" isn't about the weather, it's about the powers that be having a justification to lower our standard of living, and redistributing the wealth of the West, especially ours, thoughout the third world. All in the name of "saving the planet", and helping the world's poor.

The hubris of those promoting this nonsense, is beyond compare. Of course it takes a pretty ignorant populace to fall for it in the first place.

There will be enough laws and ordinances passed to make our heads spin. No one seems to have figured out why our light bulbs use too much energy, but plugging in your electric car for hours is just the best thing since sliced cheese.

Anything to control the people and show them who's boss, even if a bad joke is all it takes.

What a hoax, yet supposedly intelligent people swallow this snake oil, hook, line, and sinker.

We Americans, according to the far left, are doing too well. What nerve we've had, creating a successful, thriving country, through freedom and capitalism.

How dare we provide the world such a model for success, while they haven't had the sense to try it themselves. And, folks, it's all our fault. Success must be punished.

What better way than to impose guilt, and fear through a bogus theory backed with scientists lined up for government grants and having their names in history books.

The result will be, the wealth for the poor of the world, and establishing "green" goals, will go down the proverbial rat hole. The poor will still be poor, and we will have achieved parity with every banana republic.

Chuck, I wish I could agree with you, but, if socialized medicine becomes a reality in America, countless new bureaucracies created for the "greens" to control every aspect of our lives they haven't yet grabbed up, and our business community is more and more tightly controlled by the government, a political tsunami will have swept through our country and the damage will be done.

A program or bureaucracy once enacted, has a way of cementing itself forever in the halls of government.

Now that I've thoroughly depressed myself, I'll take my leave, and continue to hope I'll wake up any day now.

Pris...we're a fine optimistic pair, huh?! YIKE

Carol and L&O...I was amazed anybody in England felt this way. But, I will say that I heard some nasty things about America while living in France and Germany, but they were generalizations and almost NEVER held water when I really spoke with the person and got down to the truth; mostly they're envious. Pure and simple.

And, yes, now that we're not protecting them so much, they think the UN or the EU are going to help! But, deep down, they know differently.

For all those who have looked down on Europe in pity for the socialism they are living in: With what is being instigated in breathtaking speed by this "new class" in DC, shortly you will wish you lived in Europe, because while Europe is turning away from socialism (slowly but steadily, as indicated in the article), the U.S. under BHO is doing exactly the opposite.

In addition, the megalomania continues, with an estimated $150 million (which means it will be $300M) for the coronation. This pomp would be worth any coronation of an African dictator - this is how out of line this is.

...... and, by-the-way, if this is paid for not by the taxpayers, but by "donations", that would be even worse, because that is clearly bribery.

Great article Z... keep em coming.

There's an old saying.."As goes Britain, so goes America" usually aimed at the spirital lethargy and socialism Britain has found herself in. But if there are some still there who can write brilliant articles such as this (and this is simply brilliant!) then I'll shout God Save the Queen with the best of them.

But, we hear today already that Obama cannot wait even one single day to close Gitmo! Even though the CIA has evidence that 21 folks released from Gitmo are already participating in terrorist activites or training.

And, not to be outdone by Clinton, he is doing away with the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy in the military by ensuring these folks can be free to be open with their gay lifestyle.... God help us. The morale hit this will cause amongst our brave soldiers and Marines is impossible to calculate.

I was a Marine pilot for six years. Being forced to serve along side those types would have made me sick. We have to shower with them, dress and undress with them, live in tents in close quarters with them... what the hell is wrong with these people!

Anonymous... you should come out of anonymity because your discernment is right on. This environmental insanity has nothing to do with the climate as you say. Its all about CONTROL! Controlling the lives of others for the sheer sadistic joy of that and nothing more! The perverse euphoria these people get by ordering around and meddling in the affairs of innocent people is a frightening plague now upon us.... sorry to be so blunt and negative sounding but what can a man do at this point?

Keep up the good fight y'all, its great to know you are 'out there' somewhere.

They can't tell us what the weather will be tomorrow, but they expect us to believe that they can predict the weather a decade or ten down the road? Ya right! Right now, as I sit here typing this comment, it is 39 degrees BELOW zero on the other side of my door here in northern New Hampshire. Global Warming my ass! For those of you that haven't yet, I strongly recommend you follow Z's link to the Huffington Post and read about the serious debunking of Al Gore. A great read found in a very unexpected place.

Z,

Great find... as has been said -- in an unexpected place.

Likewise as has been said -- it is all about control.. and control does not relinquish itself it must be taken.

The likelihood of that is slim to none when our kids are being educated by liberal teachers and our teachers are being educated by liberal colleges.

Liberal journalists are being pumped out of liberal colleges like a "honey wagon" at the dump..

The answer is Conservative educational reform.. but where does that start? Horowitz is condemned by all but the staunchest of Conservatives.

Would we all could have the optimism of Mustang.

Pray for America!!

In Christ eternally,

ExP(Jack)

I admire Mustang his optimism. I'm hoping it rubs off on us all.
He's a great friend and SMART as they get.

yes, our schools have knocked the stuffing out of America...and yes, even Conservatives are offended by Horowitz and he IS the only one doing the heavy lifting right now.
And even his website's gone down to about 1/3 of the commenters than they had before. Google isn't linking to him as much as it did before, or at all. I rarely see Frontpagemag when I'm searching for anything. They cut him off.
That's the great progressive open liberal mind...slamming SHUT

Wow, great article, Z. I might actually subscribe to a newspaper again if there were any that honest & truthful in the US anymore.

As to our future with BO, I feel kinda like my heroes, Homer & Jethro once said, "Today we feel we have a great future behind us, and we have never let failure go to our heads."
