The disastrous path on which
Upon coming to office, Peron, along with his popular beautiful wife, Eva, created a state characterized by lavish social spending, elaborate welfare programs, protectionism, confiscatory taxation, and runaway deficits. Juan Peron used class warfare rhetoric. He attacked big business, the banks, the private corporations, and the propertied class. He gave the labor unions power and made them pivotal allies of his regime. Then Peron expanded the bloated government bureaucracy to intervene in every aspect of business and life, which led to internal corruption.
Peron's central socialist economic planning destroyed industrial productivity and growth. The world's investment capital fled. Taxes, inflation, unemployment, and interest rates soared and the middle class was wiped out. Finally, an independent judiciary and media ceased to exist. Eva's cult of supporters fostered a climate of violence and political enemies of the regime were exterminated.
The failure of
Obama is taking the first dangerous steps toward an American version of Peronism. His followers see him as a political messiah and a revolutionary change agent. He and the Democrats are plundering the country, using it as a vehicle to reward supporters and punish foes. They plan to confiscate wealth by taxing the rich and successful business class. Obama's plan to do away with secret ballets will strengthen the labor unions. His wife, Michelle, is the Eva Peron of our time, a glamorous, chic, socialist fashion trend-setter who is beloved by the media.
Just remember, "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.”

There once was a tumbler called Mae
Who on April first was born one day.
She made lots of noise
When she romped with the boys
In the loft where they scattered the hay.

Well, Argentina did have a growing industrial capacity but that occurred DURING the Peronist years.
What sank him was the balance of payments. Yup, just like us they started importing much more than they exported and then when the wackjobs in Congress wouldn't let Argentina export grain as part of the Marshall Plan it all caved in.
Interesting that it was the Marshall Plan that sank him.
Things are becoming clearer every day to the average American. Fox News is using the term "socialism" openly. I have hope that as the public grows increasingly angry about Obama's careless spending and abuse of power, he'll get the message that he is indeed NOT the messiah that he thinks he is.
And if he doesn't get the message...he'll last ONE TERM.
Either way, we'll get the CHANGE that WE WANT! :-)
Great post, Z!
Actually Ducky has a valid point for once, but it doesn't disprove what you say but supplements it with even more warning.
Pinky, they're even using ONE WORLD ORDER...finally. It's so clear now who can ignore it?
Ducky said America needs socialism...right here, in the open, the other day. This is America?
Ducky, part of why we've had to import more than export is that the unions are killing our competitiveness...
I can't imagine anyone could ignore this...it's too easy to shoot at the other apples in the barrel, ignoring the largest one.."Socialism and a sky-rocketing debt can permanently impoverish even the wealthiest of nations and America is not immune from the laws of economics."
So Ducky, you see what's being done in the name of socialism (and fascism btw), do you like it so far?
Please describe for all of us, when your dream is realized, what will your socialist/fascist utopia look like?
Tell us not what you're against but what you're for.

Ducky is Ducky...he won't change because his mind is closed like a sprung bear trap.
That said, he is right about the surge in growth at the beginning of the Peron era. What he is wrong about is that the Marshall Plan played only a small part in Argentina's decline...the move toward socialism pushed it the fastest.
If there were a template to distroy what America has been, President BO is following it to the letter.
Barack Obama: Chains we can believe in.
oish it gets worse daily Z...when will the four years be up and will we still be free?
Did the Argentinian press fawn over Eva's garb and did they get shivers up their collectivist legs over Juan's eloquence whilst the country spiraled to oblivion?
Nothing Ducky says surprises me.
There are plenty of socialist countries. I say if someone wants socialism, MOVE!
Socialism has failed repeatedly. Obama needs to take Putin's advice and abandon his commitment to a state controlled economy. If he doesn't, the whole world will regret it.
Juan Peron.
Leftist hero.
Disciple of Mussolini.
The only way to put fascist ideologies on the right wing is to turn the spectrum upside down.
Peron's Argentina.
Refuge of the persecuted Nazi.
How 'bout them leftists?
One more nation the left have ruined. It's actually getting worse in South America now, with Chavez meddling in the politics of neighboring nations. He is using his petro-dollars to spread his leftist poison.
Now there's some political meddling and big-oil influence that folks like quacky won't have time to whine about.
