it wont mean squat to Hussein Nobama though!!!
JFK, a liberal democrat tax cutter. I'm sure the Obamatrons will spin this inconvenient truth. "Different time , different circumstances, yada, yada, yada.
I'm forwarding this! Thanks!
Yawn.
That's right Larry, JFK and Obama are hardly different.
The Kennedy tax cut like Obama's budget was a "demand side" stimulus. Economics 101, Demand Side. Got it?
A demand-side cut rests on the Keynesian theory that public consumption spurs economic activity. Government puts money in people's hands, as a temporary measure, so that they'll spend it. The Kennedy plan was engineered by Walter Heller who was a Keynesian.
The 1964 plan led to a LOWER per worker output —a fact that could argue against the supply-side tenet that lower marginal rates would unleash the productivity of workers deterred from working harder because of overtaxation.
That fact was revealed by Richard Nixon during his economic planning.
I await your reply.
Meh, we can forget about tax cuts for the next four years!
I know, Pat, that's the sad part.
Democrats used to love America, too...and wanted what was best for us. The legal Americans who aren't taking welfare, who don't feel illegals are a great idea in America; those of us whose immigrant ancestors came and would NEVER take welfare. We miss the Moynihans and O'Neils of America , in my opinion. Who thought a Republican would ever have to say that?
I post this to show kennedy's reasoning and I believe that the premise still stands. One can't humiliate Americans by raising taxes...it's never worked. But, of course, we have Libs now who need MORE AND MORE MONEY because they're more eager to protect and cushion (a la Pelosi) people who broke our laws so "they feel like they fit in here" than to help us grow an economy again.
Edge..good!
Woman..no, it won't. It doesn't fit his "rob the rich" mantra....sadly.
Steve, not only can we forget cuts, wait for the elimination of deductions .. THAT's not a TAX HIKE??? !!
"Long needed tax reform that logic and equity demand"
Logic and equity are not two words you would hear from a modern democrat utter in the same sentence.
What is sad is that most of the older staunch democrat voters are still voting based upon their belief that the modern democrat party is the same as JFK's party. If only we could show them the changes the party has gone through.
Let’s all sing “Happy Birthday” to Ducky. Today’s his . . . oops, sorry. That’s Lenin.
LOL Mustang! :)
Z, I do know Democrats that can't stand Obama. Unfortunately, they voted him in, not realizing just how far removed the present day Democratic politicians are from the Democrats that their parents were. I know two of them that I personally tried to convince as to who Obama really was, but they didn't listen. Now they say they wish they had. It's a bit late now, isn't it?
Gayle, your post exactly and beautifully echoes the point in
KrisEveland's comment..right?
GREAT point. Democrats DO NOT KNOW things have gone this far in their party.
BUT, that shows THEY AREN'T LISTENING OR READING. How can you watch CNN for 10 minutes, or a Bob Gibbs press conference, without realizing "WHAT THE.......? This is AMERICA, we respect everyone, we don't belittle other party members or cut off discussion, or slam dissent, and we certainly don't take past presidents to court for keeping us SAFE and we ALSO certainly don't resort to socialism because we have problems!"
WHY DON'T THEY HEAR THAT?
Mustang, YOU CRACK ME UP!
Z, I do know Democrats that can't stand Obama. Unfortunately, they voted him in ...
--------------------------
What could we do? Republicans offered a mentally ill dullard with a Napoleon complex. It was imperative that he not be elected. Absolutely imperative.
This is AMERICA, we respect everyone, we don't belittle other party members or cut off discussion, or slam dissent ...

When did this happen? During the Agnew years?
Today, JFK would be a Republican and, moreover, an IGNORED Republican.
BZ
Ducky, please pay attention. Agnew's GONE. thanks.
And, yes...MANY Democrats are disgusted. Would they have been quite so disgusted with McCain? No.
The reason they're disgusted is SOCIALISM and I'm PRETTY sure that wasn't his aim...nor did he plan a CIVILIAN CORPS or bow to an Arab king, or diss England..you get it. Or SHOULD?
BZ..great point. People just don't get what's going on; Anybody with the truth's screamed over
What's interesting, z, is that the reactionary republicans were negative immediately. Regardless of what happens they will be strident box to wire, I'm sure.
Now there is no way to engage them in any reasonable fashion so we are simply going to drive a stake through the heart of what's left of the Reagan years.
What else can be done?
I doubt Obama will or would listen. He is too stupid and spineless. He is already hurting his own people, the black farmers. Yeah, change alright - for the worse!
Shalom
Did I see that our resident duckling cited Nixon and his economic expertise?
His planning included wage and price controls, and we all know how well that worked don't we? NOT!
The fact is, Kennedy's plan could be called Kennedyomics. Anyone or any Duck, should be able to grasp that besides more consumerism, and higher revenues, there are more jobs created when the market is free to do it's thing.
It's also obvious that leaving more money in the hands of the people, allows that it will be put to work for the benefit of the economy and all sectors threin.
There's a huge difference in allowing the free market to work, and the government targeting where the money can go, and taking from one sector and redistributing it to another.
The left doesn't care about the people prospering, they care about power and control. Equality of poverty works for them because the people are dependent on the state, and the left are nothing if not statists.
Obama is nothing like Kennedy. Kennedy was anti-communist, and a loyal American. I did not vote for him, but, I respected him.
Mustang - You're too much, sooo funny.
Pris
We all have to understand we have a president who's done pretty much nothing but slam America since he became our 'leader'. Remember when Ortega chided America and all Obama could come up with was "I was a KID THEN" instead of coming back with American pride in all we've done?
He didn't just 'shake Hugo's hand'...he grabbed his hand with both of his and was hugely grinning..this is a BROTHER to Obama, this is a SOCIALIST, this man needs to appeal to THE LITTLE PEOPLE so they'll vote and keep him in..what's the difference between him and Chavez? We probably didn't even have a legal election. You all know that.
When someone can prove Mr. Obama loves this country, let me know. Facts.
Oh mygosh, Z, STOP THE PRESSES! And give me a drum roll – the first intelligent and responsible post I’ve read to date by your little Duck friend has been posted in this column. (No, I haven’t read them all, but all I’ve read makes me wonder where he parks his brain before his picks up his pen.)
We need to be careful about making sweeping generalizations about the “Kennedy” tax cut (it passed under Johnson’s signature). In simple terms, they were afraid of surpluses and wanted to diminish negative effects on the economy from anticipated excess.
Kennedy talked about a balanced budget, but Walter Heller wasn’t interested and pulled him over more to the Keynesian side of the ledger. Balanced budget became an expedient soundbite. At some point the administration would have been just as happy getting “rid” of the anticipated surplus by spending – “medicare,” urban renewal, that sort of thing.
Congress insisted on some restraint of expenditures (Democrats! yes, Z at one time “they” [“we” – I was raised one] were not the insensate fiscal dunderheads that flap about the Capital these days).
And that whopping 23% rate cut at the top that turned loose the guys that make jobs for folks like me. Great supply side effect, but not Kennedy’s primary target. There was also a (I believe independent, but have to check that fact) change in monetary policy that expanded the money supply in the 60’s that helped. Lots of complexity here, some caution and some praise.
Kennedy’s legacy probably lucked out with more unintended consequences and factors outside his control than can easily be conveyed to the average economic illiterate populace.
So we simplify and equate “tax cut” with the magic the Kennedy aura stills holds for many people to win our case. Most people will never know the difference, but it’s not that simple.
At least it was an actual tax cut, not the phony Obama “I’ll cut taxes for people that don’t pay taxes.” Huh - come again?
Very nice strawman stunt, Pris.
The statement on Kennedy is that it was a demand side stimulus and not the supply side economics that have crashed and burned.
If z agrees with Kennedy's actions then she shouldn't be so upset about Obama because they are both demand side stimulus programs.
The only reason Obama's is in disfavor with most far right wingers is because it's Obama's. They care nothing about its mechanics except the usual bromides about "statist".
Sorry Pris, the St. Ronnie Raygun days are as freakin' dead as disco. Get used to it.
The democratic party of then was vastly different to the one of today.
as Deborah says, one doesn't cut taxes on those who don't pay taxes, it's not only nonsensical, it's downright stupid and a fraudulent statement, when you think about it. And, that IS obama's plan.
Tax cuts can work....while Kennedys weren't perfect, tax increases for the rich have NEVER worked.
But, cutting taxes on those who do NOT pay taxes is almost less dumb than increasing taxes yet again on those who pay 75% of the taxes in this country. Please read my homepage sidebar; there are lessons there to be learned.
